Nice tea room in quaint village. Friendly service. Outdoor seating for social distancing, feels very safe. Proper tea made with tea leaves. However, the cake we had was a huge disappointment. Victoria sponge was dry and crumbly, not a proper fresh cream filling but a thin smear of buttercream and similar thin smear of jam. Cakes used to be homemade here and were always delicious but this one fell short. Would happily have tea here but will avoid cake in future.

Had spotted this tea room on a cycle ride but came here as part of a walk around the area. We were welcomed as if we were regulars, which was delightful. The menu is simple but ideal for a pit stop for walkers and cyclists. The bacon sandwich in tiger bread was delicious and the lattés were frothy and of the perfect temperature. This is a cute little tearoom with outside space too and plenty of space to park your bike. We will definitely return.

We visited on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday weekend. I had a tuna & cheese toastie, my wife had the ploughman’s. The filling of my toastie was cold, quite clearly two pieces of toast had just been put together and the filling added. The ploughman’s was terrible. No cheese scone, fair enough but the bread replacement wasn’t fresh. The contents of the ploughman’s was very poor, two thin slices of cheese and one tiny slice of processed ham, the salad was virtually non existent. This was our third or fourth visit, previously it was excellent. Nobody asked us if everything was ok, which is not good. We came away extremely disappointed.

This is a very good but small tea room, only 12 inside and about 20 outside. Highly recommended. Good for cyclists and many do visit. The attention to detail is great and the Covid protection compliance is excellent. The staff /proprietors are attentive, welcoming and understanding, we felt very safe both inside and out and the food is excellent. A lunch time, morning coffee or tea and cake / lite bite venue rather than a full meal. Great cakes and cream teas. Small business which deserves support on a regular basis.

Great location near the Essex way and some great cycle routes. Terling is a lovely cute village and the tearoom (which is also the doctors surgery on other days!) is a great spot at the heart of the village. Had a great quiche and amazing pink lemonade cake. Sat outside, it was all very well organised for SD, staff wearing PPE etc. Friendly staff. Fuelled up.and ready to go!

This is one of our favourite places to go and visit. We have had a big family afternoon tea there, which was fantastic and excellent value for money. They were even able to cater for my son who doesn't like traditional tea and cakes. We also regularly pop in for Lunch, tea and cakes and take aways. The food is always lovely and the service excellent. They are always willing to accommodate different needs and nothing is too much trouble. It has been great to be able to go back there after the lock down and the precautions which are being taken make you feel really confident that it is safe to eat there. I would highly recommend this lovely tea room.

This is a gorgeous quaint tea room in a lovely location. Run by a lovely family, we Have visited a few times for a breakfast sandwich and also for a lovely lunch with our young puppy during the current pandemic. Couldn’t have felt safer, they’ve done a great job adhering to the distancing and cleaning rules. There’s a lovely walk in the woods behind the tea room which we found this week, so grab a lovely lunch or a refreshment and one of their lovely cakes or cream teas on offer and have a stroll to walk it off!

Had a lovely lunch here with my three children. My younger daughter had a cream tea which she thought was fabulous. The decor was perfect without being contrived and the service excellent both welcoming and efficient. We were seated next to some barky dogs which were annoying for older daughter and for another couple who left fuming a little. I wasn’t really bothered but then I’m a dog person and it’s a dog friendly cafe but maybe dogs should have been asked to go outside. Ahhh but then somebody’s always put out, hard choice. So naughty dogs but the actual food/service /price fantastic.

A great menu with a very good selection of choices, whatever you have, make sure you try the coleslaw!! Daily specials also available and if I manage to get past the very tasty BLT sandwich, the quiche will be next. The cakes.....oh my word, delicious!!! Excellent variety, catering to all tastes. We found this tea room by accident when we were out cycling one Sunday. The owners were lovely and helpful. I have some allergies but I had the most delicious home made orange and raspberry polenta cake. The tea is served in gorgeous china pots with quaint cups and saucers. It makes a real difference from the beverage chains that are everywhere these days. It has been added to the list of tea stop venues for bike rides and we will make a route to include it. Be warned though, if you're out and about on a Bank Holiday Monday, you are likely to be disappointed and it will be closed. This is such a shame because plenty of us plan trips on BH days and would welcome being able to visit Owls Hill. On the first May BH this year, we planned a stop at Owls Hill and after a thirty mile ride I was dreaming of tea and cake but when we arrived at the door it was closed. My poor other half had to put up with a lot of moaning on the way home - the tea dan treats are that good.

The main reasons I love Owls Hill Teamroom:1) The coleslaw - it comes with the salad if you order a sandwich or homemade tart. It makes the dish and I usually eat my children's portion too if I can get away with it. It's my favourite thing about this place, except for maybe...2) The owners! - a lovely, welcoming and chatty couple who have given the village a new lease of life by opening a cosy little tearoom with a great selection of light meals, snacks and drinks. So nice that they won't even mind that I ranked them below the coleslaw.3) The coffee - freshly ground and delicious!4) The cakes - haven't tried one I haven't liked yet. All lovely. The owners listen to feedback too and now have clotted cream with the scones, yes!5) The tarts - Thick, tasty crust with a variety of fillings. Also, for the fact it comes with coleslaw, obvs!I visit at least once a week and always leave a satisfied customer. Go and try it out, if you haven't already..... I forgot 6) I love the freshly baked croissants too!
