Always impressive here, went for the Christmas fayre. Had the pheasant starter, roast turkey main, and Christmas pudding dessert. All cooked to perfection, served hot by the friendly and efficient staff. This was a superb experience and I am looking forward to my next trip.

We only rediscovered this eatery , though we drive past several times a week. Lovely real ' Old Pub ' atmosphere that can't be made. The food is very good ( £35-00 Steaks on Friday are great. And they can do very rare ! The Ales are good ( says a tea totaled person.).Owner and staff are great especially the one with Red Hair. What more can I say. Try it.

We had planned to go to the White House in Littleborough, but they don’t allow dogs!! We therefore decided to try Owd Betts which is very dog friendly! The dogs were offered a bowl of water, and even a little meat! They were delighted! We were equally delighted with the vegan pie. Very very nice. A Well thought out dish which is Much appreciated. It’s not always easy being vegan!! Will be back! The pub itself is gorgeous. So historic with a burning fire too. Thank you!

This pub has fantastic views and warm and inviting inside ... it gets 3 stars just because it's dog friendly.. I decided to have the famous cheese & onion pie meal and wow that was a let down it was so soggy obviously just heated in a microwave I only ate it as not to offend my guest ... shame really as the pub it's self is nice n cosy .. and dog friendly thats always a plus .. the gravey was tasty tho..

Chose this because we had previously been and had a nice experience, today was a complete different story, the staff were very rude and abrupt, was served a cold pork and black pudding pie and when we questioned if it should be cold the manager came over and rudely told us “the reason it’s cold is because it’s a pork pie” very rude and not customer friendly, won’t be going again.

Avoid at all costs!!! We were out for a birthday lunch and the experience couldn’t have been any worse! - Rude staff - Uncooked food - Terrible service - Dirty cutlery - Wait time We waited 45 minutes for a few bar snacks. The manageress had the most disgusting attitude. The onion rings weren’t cooked so I asked could they be taken away from the table. As she walked through to the kitchen which was directly behind my chair, she said “right! She’s just said these aren’t cooked!” It was very aggressive and there was no need for it! We then decided to leave and the attitude continued! I can see where the rudeness came from now with the rest of the staff! I will never go back there again!

Went for last minute lunch on bank holiday Monday and were not disappointed. Beautifully cooked fish and chips with an extraordinary large pot of mushy peas. Lots of staff mean we were served quickly, got drinks and they checked in on us to make sure we were happy with the food. The place was very busy and we can see why. My father had the Owd Betts ale and was happy with that. I was a bit surprised that my zero aclohol beer was more expensive than his pint and never seen it priced above £5 anywhere else before. But overall a wonderful lunch.

Visited today with hubby n my elderly parents, mum with alzheimers. Ordered drinks and food. The drinks order was fine but the food got mixed up. Hubby and I ordered mint lamb and hubby was given beef instead. His food also arrived 15 minutes after ours and I hate that as it means we've nearly finished before he gets his. Mum was agitated as she didn't like the beef saying it was tough for a muffin too thickly sliced. Once she gets agitated she wants to go then. The staff were actually ok about the food mix up and knocked hubbys meal off the bill. It was very busy and only 2 staff which seems ridiculous during the summer. I explained to the lady at the bar that I needed to pay and go as there was a HUGE queue and mums alzheimer agitation would not wait in a queue, I had to get her out to the car asap, so the lady dropped the queue and let me pay before returning to serve the waiting hordes. I'd go back as food was nice and hot and they did their best saying only 2 of them.

Haven’t been here in years and decided to call for lunch for a change. Now I’m annoyed at myself for not going in years! It’s what is missing from a lot of places. It’s a gorgeous cosy pub with low ceilings, fireplaces and a ghost (so I’m told, didn’t spot it), Serving proper pub food. It’s not trying to be anything fancy or modern and the food it serves is delicious, well Cooked and I’ll definitely be back. Daughter had a huge steak and Stilton sauce and I had a chickpea and sweet potato burger with the most amazing chunky chips and homemade red cabbage coleslaw. Honestly couldnt fault it, great service too and there’s the view! I’ll be back soon.

We love visiting Owd Betts as a family of four! It's a charming and historic country pub near to Norden, with stunning views over the reservoir, offering delicious & fresh home-cooked English classics. My favourite is the cheese & onion pie with chips, but I also love the traditional Sunday dinner. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, with friendly service, cosy furniture, exposed brick walls, and a roaring log fire. In summer, you can sit outside at one of the tables and enjoy the views, and the pub is dog friendly. We highly recommend this place for an enjoyable meal out with friends or family!

Been here a few times and never had a bad meal. Went for valentines meal and they were doing an offer 2 steak meals and bottle of wine £30. I'm vegetarian so didn't take that offer up but thought it was a good deal for valentines night. Cheese and onion pie amazing. Sticky toffee pudding and custard is delicious. Warm and welcoming atmosphere and usually have roaring log fires on in colder months. Staff very friendly. It's said to be haunted by old Betty and they have information on her and the pub near the bar area. They also do clairvoyant reading nights every now and again.

My wife and I have passed this place for many years heading to Nutters. We missed a treat, until today. Brilliant sirloin steak for me and everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We visited Owd Betts with family for my dad's birthday as it was midway for all the family to meet up. We all booked the Sunday Roast and the size of the portions were a good size. The choice was Beef, Pork or mixed, three of us had mixed, one had Pork and the other two had Beef. The Pork was given to somebody who had ordered a mixed as the waiter told us it was a mixed. There was gravy on the meals, but not enough so more was asked for, a small jug was brought back. The Beef was tough and the majority of it was rare, (I know Beef is served undercooked but this was RARE!!). We then sat with dirty plates in front of us for around twenty minutes, it was only when we started to stack the plates up that the table was cleared. Deserts were ordered and they were the best part of the meal! The [ub wasn't really busy but the service was very slow and after todays visit, not sure if we will go back soon.

A dog friendly pub with open fire. Great beer, superb food and super friendly and helpful staff who make you feel welcome. Within our group of 4, all had something different and all of us would have been happy to swap starters and mains. All felt home made, all presented and tasted great with generous portion sizes.. If anything some dishes were almost too generous, which is more of an observation than a complaint :) Highly recommended

A real treat! Two of us had cheese and onion pie, which also got a big thumbs up, as did the beer battered cod. We were all so well fed that we had no room for a dessert - a pity I'm sure. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly for sitting outside, but I should imagine that it's lovely in summer and the view will be even better. I'll definitely be visiting again.

First feeling walking into Owd bets was warm and welcoming. Me and my boyfriend and our tiny dog... the first faces we see our fellow customers, sat with drinks and smiles. Everyone seems so jolly. The pub is warm and cosy and traditional in style. As we make our way towards the bar through friendly faces and sniffing dog that want to greet us I see the bar tender ready to greet us. He takes our drinks order and we head to our seats. We’re waiting for a friend and while we wait several of the LOVELY staff members come and ask if they can get us anything. Play with our dog and just delight us with general chitchat. It’s delightfully un formal and I feel very comfortable. Once the food was ordered it came swiftly and piping hot! Large portions of home made home cooked goodness. Theres nowt form the freezer here. I had the ‘pie if the day, chicken and leak, and it was sublime! Tasty as anything and cooked perfectly. The chips are to die for! The rest of our table loved everything they ate. The wonderful lady waiting on us was so happy and nice and she brought us a little sausage for our dog for free! I think most the wagging tailed dogs sitting about had also had some too, when your dogs are treated with the same respect and warmth that you are it really makes a great impression. I honestly can’t rate this place higher. Only wished I lived closer so I could go more often. A genuine thanks form us all! It was a delight truly. Xx

I visited yesterday, with 13 friends and we were really well looked after. We were a little early but showed to our table and able to order drinks. Food was preordered and we'd requested some meals to come with the starters and it arrived quickly. Our meals were freshly made and delicious. Also the portion sizes were generous so definitely great value for the cost. Even though the pub was busy, staff were really attentive and we were well looked after. Will be visiting again, thank you for your great food and service.

What a great occasion. The staff were very attentive and gave great service. The meals were generally of good proportions and nobody went away hungry. The burger stack was tall, the beef roast very impressive, the hotpot really filled you up. Be aware that the pepper corn sauce with the chicken is quite hot, as is the 3-bean chilly. We look forward to returning.

Absolutely love this pub. Went for tea tonight, open fire, home cooked food which was delicious as always. Fab waitresses. The team Lydia, Libby and Nicola are always so attentive and so much fun they are part of the whole experience. Best country pub!

Just been here for meal with my wife and had to leave still hungry. The kitchen staff should be ashamed to be honest. Starters were okay but the main courses, where do i start. Pork chop cremated to the point of leather, vegetables raw (not al dente, simply raw). Lancashire hot pot just scraggy chewy bits of meat in tasteless brown water. Reminded me of the food my mum forced down us in the 70's. Daylight robbery to charge for such fayre. Such a pity as this place could be real 'destination' pub/restaurant. Instead, it's just a place that we'll laugh about!

Had not been here for quite a few years and was looking forward to a nice lunch. We sat at the table and picked up a couple of menus. A male waiter came over to take our order as we had only just started perusing the menu we weren't ready - however, he just stood over us until we made our minds up instead of giving us more time. Felt very uncomfortable and hurried. My friend ordered a vegetarian chilli on a jacket potato and I had the lancashire hotpot. My hotpot had been warmed up in an oven (no problem with that) but the inside was not as hot as the edges and top. Also the potatoes on top were too thickly cut and very hard as they were clearly overcooked. My friend said her chilli was watery and she didn't really enjoy it. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Visiting the Touchstones Art Gallery we stopped for drinks and snacks. Good selection of teas, iced mocha was great and came in an interesting mason jar with a handle. Single use plastic straws were out of sync with a vegetarian menu. Good soup and bread and other dishes on other peoples tables looked good.

Another excellent breakfast this morning. Another well done to the chef - the hash browns were light and with a crispy coating (again) and perfect poached eggs. As for the service, Chantelle and Jo were their usual friendly, welcoming and excellent selves. As ever, always a treat to there.
