Our Plaice Fish & Chips in Dudley

Over 20 minutes for uber driver to find my house, whilst in my street, insisting it didn't exist even though it has been here for over 100 years and has 6 inch house numbers on the front of the house, because he didn't get that even numbers are on the other side the road to odd numbers, despite me telling him several times. Food was cold so chips and gravy binned and roe OK, I can eat that cold just about. Won't do uber eats or Our Plaice again.

Glad I had not read reviews before I called in on a whim while passing by as otherwise I would have not enjoyed possibly the best Fish and Chips in years! I had to wait for them to be freshly cooked and it was so worth it. Hot delicious cod and haddock with so many chips ( cone was ample for 2 people) the mushy peas were scrummy and made me feel nostalgic as so like my moms were. Staff were chatty and efficient and when I opened them to eat there were some scratchings. Good job I’m not local or this plaice (🤪) could become addictive

Just paid £21.60 4pm for two pieces of fish that looked grey the batter was soggy the chips were even worse heated up left over from last night inedible vile rubbish. This plaice is a total premeditated RIP OFF.

Disgusting - nothing cooked so had pies n chips - chips hard - must have been reheated - also just spiky chips, obviously used best parts for scollops. Women very rude.

Well the time is 5.45 pm on a Wednesday....I visited for a family tea... only to find absolutely nothing in the counters ...can't say I'll ever return... Food was passable at best, when after 20 minutes it finally arrived..but OMG the prices!!! Even Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!!! You need deep pockets and be already half full to eat from here...as portions sizes are not all that.. Also you have to have a lot of time on your hands!!! Sad....

Absolutely beautiful food. Good size perfectly cooked cod and lovely soft white bread. The perfect fish butty. Shandy ice cold top. These folk are experts making lively quality food. Fish and chip experts

I ordered 2 x large kebab meat and chips, curry sauce and a small cod. It came to £27 which I thought was quite expensive compared to other local chip shops. We had about half of the kebab and chips and couldn’t eat any more as it was so greasy. Also the small cod was very small but nice. Overall it was not worth the money and we won’t be going again ☹️

Ordered hake, sea bass and chips. My fish was freshly cooked and had to wait only 10 mins. During the wait we had a nice conversation with Ollie and Josh. Extremely pleasant. Being from Scotland I know good fish and this was tasty fish which was reasonably priced for excellent quality. Good luck in the future. Elizabeth from Aberdeenshire

Just visited our place. Best in the local area beautiful white fish and served by a very pleasant gentleman.

Chippy really ain’t worth the money over priced compared to other chips shops locally also they seem to cook there food and leave it heated in cabinets for good while so when you get your order it’s really not fresh and just tastes dried out workers at shop really ain’t that friendly which makes you feel uncomfortable

Attitude of man/owner working here is awful. Food passable however attitude of owner leaves you feeling you should have had a Tesco meal deal. Wouldn’t wish this experience on worse enemy.

Can only assume I spoke to the owner who was a horrible man his fish and chips where overpriced and rubbish

Paid £9.95 via uber eats for kebab meat and salad in a pitta. When it got here it was not much bigger then my hand. Total rip off. Was told i could only get money back from uber eats. Rip off.

Due to being on the airport run we decided to have a fish and chips supper. Reading the reviews this gave me some idea but i am always weary of 1 review feedbacks :) Anyway decided on two small fish and chips with curry sauce. I had to wait for the fish to be cooked but had no issues at least i knew it would be fresh. Two people serving I gentleman and lady. Gentleman was friendly but the lady was quiet and busy making up food. Another couple was also waiting for their food. The cost was £18.50 so too me thats expensive for Small Fish and chips (x2) On arrival at home one of the curry sauce was missing :( Both me and my wife thought the fish was very tasty and the chips was nice. Was it worth £18:50 well in my opinion no.

Always top notch quality fodder from this place not the cheapest in the world but definitely get what you pay for from this plaice.

Visited last night food was great as always! Bit of a wait but that’s becoming standard if it a quieter period/ a cook to order item. When busy they do have food ready but you can call your order ahead.

Where too start…. I first walked in to be greeted by 2 cheerful members of staff. I ordered my food and had to wait 5 minutes or so for my food too be freshly cooked and boy was it worth the wait. I had fresh roe and chips. The fresh roe was the best I’ve ever eaten I’m so glad to find a small business who are so proud to serve the best quality produce. The chips were wonderful and actually cooked properly not like most chip shops I have been too in the local area. Whilst I waited for my food I had a great conversation with the man frying and lady serving that made those few minutes pass very quickly. In conclusion I will be recommending this chip shop too everybody and anybody. Keep up all the good work those at our plaice

Excellent we all thoroughly enjoyed our food, The faggots were the best I've ever tasted. Other food was beautiful food also. Will certainly be placing more orders in the near future.

My boss eats from here every day of the week and never has a complaint with the food, there is always friendly service from the staff

I first visited Our Plaice in the summer last year with my sister and my children, as the weather was nice we sat outside on their benches to eat our food. While was was there the owner Ollie came out to us and asked how the food was and if there was anything else we needed or wanted. I thought this was really nice as it isn’t a dine in restaurant. Since then we have been going to Our Plaice regularly the food is beautiful and is always cooked fresh, we have never had a meal we haven’t enjoyed! All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and polite, the staff have even made the effort to speak to my children and now know their names and what they are going to order as soon as we walk into the shop. Whenever my family come over they always want to get food from here my sister says their battered sausage is amazing in fact she won’t eat one from any other chip shop as they don’t taste as good. Well done to all the staff at Our Plaice! Keep up all your hard work. See you all soon.

Polite,friendly & helpful staff. Food freshly cooked to order & therefore always piping hot.The shop has a hygiene rating of 5 so very clean.Would definitely recommend.

First review ever but felt compelled to comment after a recent visit and reading reviews and responses from the business. Fish is good (great at times) which is rare and all too often overlooked by Chip Shops. Chips aren't great to the degree I buy...

Went here before lockdown Food was very fatty covered in grease The man behind counter was very arrogant. Didn't feel welcomed at all This place used to be great but now I'd say gone to shambles !! A little customer service skills and being polite...

Go a few times for fish and chips BUT use them often for catered fish and chips for 60 to 100....always excellent.

Heard good things about this place, have to say very disappointed. Upon entering, the servers gave 0 time for looking at the menu, when I started to look at the menu the servers laughed and said “can’t make your mind up?” Chips not good at all, fish was rather nice however very expensive considering the quality! In my opinion worth the walk into Halesowen town centre!

We have tried lots of fish and chip shops in this area but always come back to our plaice. The staff are reAlly friendly the fish is always top class and the chips are wonderful. We can cal in our order and it is freshly cooked and ready when we arrive. I give this fish shop 10+ I would advise any fish and chips lovers to give it a go you will not be disappointed.

Called in for the first time for cod & chips. My fish was cooked to order - about a five-minute wait - but the chips had been hanging around a while and while the fish was lovely the chips were, well, past their best. I'd go back, but if Halesowen has a really good fish & chip takeaway, I'm still looking for it ...

Having reviewed 'Our Plaice' some days ago, I have since spoken with the manager Ollie, he was very amicable indeed, explained to me what may have been the problem, I fully understood and accepted what he said. A great little chippy, amazing fish and chips, friendly and speedy service, on the down side a small car park. But worth a visit.

This fish and chip shop is worth a visit if you want to have quality food...it's clean and the staff are friendly..Recommended

I've visited maybe 3 times. You may have to wait as the place is popular but the produce is everything you want it to be. Patient, friendly hard working staff.
