Well, Let's start with earlier this day I had been on a long road trip to the Forest of Dean after I was very hungry. Decided that we'd go for an Indian as we do. Got to the Indian at around 5.12pm we walked and were greeted with a smile which was nice as I was a bit hesitant about coming to a new Indian. We then sat down at our table and started munching on our poppadoms. Poppadoms were odd but alright 👍. We then get asked what we want so as I love butter chicken 🐔 I went for a butter chicken. 8 mins later our chips and stuff come out. Chips were defo frozen and naan bread was very doughy. 2 mind later our food comes and mine has nice garnish on top making it look all nice 😋 disclaimer it wasn't. I the put my very hard rice on the plate and begin eating. As I was eating the first piece of chicken I noticed a very large amount of liquid sitting in the bowl. I then look around more and noticed there is no curry it's just pure liquid. This "curry" is a sloppy cinnamon sugary soup. NEVER EVER GET THIS!! .Sugar Sloppy Soup. Once I've taken a few bites I felt a sudden pain in my stomach it wasn't good. I then tell my dad I'm not feeling to good so we decide let's go as this is a horrible experience. We get to the front counter and the man is just blanking us on the phone not taking any notice that we want to go. He then notices us and let's us pay then he tries to make me feel better with some posh minty chocolate just no. Anyway we come home and my dad is sick all around our house. Later that evening I vomit and continously vomit through the night and so does my dad! If u want a sugary sloppy cinnamon messy soup order this " Special butter Chicken". Thanks bye 👋

Went to this place chicken tikka starter was 6 pieces of chicken on plate of watery tasteless sauce no salad or dressing. There were 3 of us had this starter all thought the same was disgusting & no taste at all. Then 2 of us had chicken balti same no taste to it at all we were disgusted we left it. I of us had chicken & chips , when it came chips on a separate plate then chicken was shredded up on plate dry with bit of salad which didn't eat much at all. When staff came to collect plates they never even asked us why we all left our meals or if anything was the matter. All they were bothered about was the bill. This place used to be lovely. I don't know what has happened here or if there's another cook but won't be returning.

Best thing about this meal was the poppadoms. Starter of Katlama. Really stodgy microwaved in front of me. Balti Keema was just sweet curry sauce with a minimal amount of meat. Nan bread was an unusual texture

The positives were that it was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The vegetarian curries were possibly the worst we’ve ever eaten…both curries we ordered were full of red and white beans which we’ve never experienced at any Indian restaurant before and virtually no veg other than a few bits of potato. There was no richness or deep flavour just chilli heat. Even the naan seemed dry lacking any butter or oil. I don’t know if meat options are better but veg options very disappointing.

This my parents "go to" curry house so went with them when visiting last Saturday. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. Clean dining area if a little squashed in. Take you own drinks to keep the prices down. Poppadoms came with a large bowl of yogurt and onion dip each. Pickle tray was very generous and topped up for free when needed Large portions of rice and curry. My meat (i.e. mutton) was beutiful! No fat, no sinue, just tender meat. We certainly didn't experience an supermarket microwave meals like other reviewers have implied! We ate about half the "medium" nann as it was so big! As my parents aren't big eaters the staff asked if they wanted the rest of their food boxed up to take home. A great jesture. I'm surprised to read some poor reviews recently as I found the whole experience really enjoyable and at a good price too. Maybe just the takeaways aren't up to scratch? I'll certainly be back when in the area again!

Food was sent raw. Naan bread was mushy in the middle. Curry was unbelievably spicy with the most vile after taste. So bland no real flavour other than spice. Rice bland no flavour. All round bad experience and a half hearted apology, no offer of more food made or even some money back. Won’t be going back again. Terrible service.

Went last night expecting a traditional balti after reading the reviews. I think the chef must have been sick or on holiday. Staff wwere pleasant and when I ordered sheek kebab starter he kindly placed in the microwave behind the counter and warmed it up for me. When the main came, the rice was microwaved also and the curry was clearly a Mr Daves balti that had been warmed up. This was topped off with a bottle of lidle's own wine. My advice would be to stay away unless you like microwave food. On a good note, the toilet was clean.

If you want a decent curry go elsewhere..but if you like you like to pay double for a supermarket microwave meal read on. We went tonight all expectations high based on reviews. We entered and our server who was lovely and polite put our starter in the microwave and bought it to us..cooking at its best. Please look for the microwave on the left hand side as you walk in the main door. We then had our main which was watery and tasted nothing short of a supermarket curry. The server when questioned even admitted the rice was microwaved. The most authentic thing on the plate was the naan bread. This was all topped off with a bottle of £2.99 Lidl red wine which they had the nerve to ask for £10 a bottle. Needless to say we did not pay this. This restaurant is an absolute disgrace to those who do cook and actually have pride in the food they serve. My advice is stay well clear it’s an absolute disgrace.

Starting from the mid 70s, I have been to every "balti house" in the Birmingham Balti triangle and many more further afield. As a typical, unassuming, "traditional", unlicensed Pakistani restaurant, few if any serve better food than the Royal Adeel. The only disappointment may come from those expecting your more common Bangladeshi offerings

We've not been to this particular balti house before and only went as it was so close to the Civic where we were headed to see a band. We were seated quickly and provided with very fresh poppadoms and a lovely selection of chutneys. We had high hopes for our meal but unfortunately that ship sailed away with the chutney pots. I chose vegetable pakora and was surprised to see them microwaved at the counter. I knew at that point it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience. They were nicely spiced and had they been fresh fried I think they would have been decent but alas the microwave killed that, resulting in flaccid spongey pile of nothing with no salad which only dousing with the remaining sauces saved. My husband's mixed grill was huge and accompanied by a big salad and he actually really enjoyed that. Very good value for money. For mains I chose vegetable biryani which was probably the worst meal I have ever eaten in a balti house. A plate of rice with random veg (tinned potatoes and tinned peas featured heavily) was presented. This had very obviously been frozen and microwaved. You could tell by the way the heat was distributed throughout the plate. It was watery and tasteless and very poor indeed. The rice was no better than the supermarket microwaveable pouches and was certainly not basmati rice. The accompanying curry was again very bland and featured the same tinned potatoes and peas!I've had better curries out of a tin to be honest. Mushroom naan was the saving grace but I'd lost interest by that point. Hubby's jalfrezi despite the addition of a couple of chillies was tasteless and was accompanied by peas pilau (weird bright yellow rice with a sprinkle of peas which we were again convinced was microwaved). We had a weak instant coffee to finish and then paid the princely sum of 30 quid for the whole experience. On balance I really should have sent my meal back as it was extremely poor but we had limited time before our show started. Stop with the microwave dependency guys, it's killing your food.

Me and my partner ate here recently and as soon as we walked in the waiter was really attentive the place is very small but if your looking for a small quiet cosy place to eat then it’s fine and we were happy with this. However I was disappointed with the food the nan bread was hard and dry and the chicken balti tasted like dish water the waiter asked us how spicy we wanted the curry and we said little spice but not mild...when I ate the foodI nearly breathed fire it was so spicy and I had to add more salt to everything because the food was so bland it’s a shame really because the staff were really nice but at the end of the day I expect good food as I’m paying for it and it’s not something they could provide.

Despite the slightly cramped interior this place is well worth a visit. Superb Popadoms came with a variety of dips and sauces which is the first thing I look for in a good Indian restaurant. Lamb Balti with spinach was excellent but maybe not enough meat and not spicey enough as I asked for a Madras. You can tell a quality curry when the sauce is thick and not a pool of liquid and the curry’s here are top-drawer. Peshwari Nan really outstanding. Great service and superb value for money. Bring your own booze.

We came here as a late night last resort on bank holiday weekend in August as we left it too late to go to our local curry house. Never again would I go here. We ordered 3 different curries, vegetable masala, chicken rogan Josh and chicken jalfrezi. They all looked exactly the same! I ordered a cheese and garlic naan bread. Instead of fresh garlic on the garlic bread, they used garlic paste instead! This made the garlic bread all greasy and slimy to pick up with hands also tasted bad. We also waited ages for our food as well. Unfortunately our experience wasnt great here so we won’t be returning any time soon.

Meal arrived nearly half an hour late even though I am only half a mile away. Got the feeling the driver overcharged as it was exactly £20 which was more expensive than similar meals I've ordered. Food was cold, portions were supposed to be mains but were the size of side dishes. The Bombay potatoes looked like they came out of a tin and had no flavour and the naan bread was like shoe leather. Best part was the popadoms and mango chutney which I saved until last as the rest of the meal was so terrible!

It had been many years since we enjoyed balti at the Royal Adeel but we decided to revisit the restaurant with good friends, expectations set from a few previous experiences. On entering the place had clearly been given a make over but retains its 'no frills' atmosphere. It was busy at 7.15pm on a Saturday night but we managed to find a relatively quiet table in the downstairs area. Poppadums were quickly despatched with a good selection of dips/chutneys and these were enjoyed as we explored the menu. We waited quite a time to place our orders - two starters, 4 mains, a side dish of Tarka Daal and rice/nan breads.

Decided to try the Royal Adeel because of the amount of people who said they had been using it for 20 years (8 reviews in total). If this Is the best restaurant you have been to in 20 years It must have been the only one you have been to In 20 years. Looking back now I should have realised this was exceptionally high for only 40 reviews. Do not get conned like I did, this restaurant is one of the worst I have been to in over 30 years of eating Indian food. Take a look at my other reviews if you want some ideas about quality places to eat, all my reviews are GENUINE and mostly reviews of Indian food.We went to the Royal Adeel on a Tuesday night and there were only two other people eating, we ordered our food and ate our poppadoms which came with 5 or 6 different dips, one of which was a mint dip with tomato ketchup added to it. The starters of Tandoori Fish and Chicken Tikka both came without any accompanying salad which we found out later you have to order as an extra, nearly as strange as tomato ketchup in a mint dip. The fish was a very good size and quite tasty until I got to the middle which was cold and uncooked, the waiter was informed and admitted it was not cooked correctly and would not be charged for, although no apologizes were made.My wife's Chicken Tikka was OK but was swimming in a oil or water liquid again very strange presentation. We both had the chefs special baltis which both had a good quanity of not so good quality meat in them, and the accompanying nan bread was very dry as If It had been toasted, like the ones you get from Asda or Tesco, sorry that's wrong the ones from the supermarkets are much better quality. My wife did not eat much of her Balti as she did not like the taste, I also left most of mine which is very unusual for me. We took the left over food home but I had to throw my wife's curry away although I did eat mine as It did taste a bit better eaten cold. With so many fantastic Indian restaurants about today every aspect of the meal has to be spot on and this place fails on so many levels.Royal Adeel are they having a laugh, nothing royal about this place!

Decided to have a change from our usual restaurant, but wished I'd have driven a little further to have a decent meal.Firstly it's a little cosy balti house rather than a restaurant. We had a lovely selection of sauces & salad brought to our table & we enjoyed the poppadoms, it appeared to be a busy place with a steady flow of people eating in & also people ordering takeaways, we decided to skip starters as we ain't really big eaters, so glad really cause I noticed that they had a chiller display fridge with samosas etc in there & the guys was warming starters up in the microwave,, not the usual freshly made up in the kitchen.... when our meal came out it was bubbling away in metal balti dishes,, which can be quite hazardous for some people as my partner had problems scooping it out into his dish, as he as arthritis, my meal was absolutely swimming in grease I couldn't eat it, I tried a few mouthfuls but no way could I stomach it, it also had shredded chicken in it & not the usual chunks like you have in a balti,, the mushrooms were also of the frozen slimy sliced variety you can buy from farm foods, I complained to the waiter & he said he would inform chef, I didn't even hear an apology they knocked £3 off our bill...wow.... sorry royal adeel but we won't be coming back and Iam afraid you won't be recommended to any of our friends.

I have been using this restaurant for over 20 years and its consistently good. Yes you take your own drinks but this is no problem that way you drink what you like not what's available on draught ect. The special balti and tropical balti are my favourites but to be fair I haven't had a bad one yet and in 20 years that some balties. Give it a try you wont be disappointed or feel robbed at the prices/

I have been eating here since 1990, so now into my 25th year. The food never disappoints, always freshly prepared, always delicious. If you want something not on the menu, all you have to do is ask and it will be cooked for you. Take you own Wine/Beer too, which I prefer to do.My favorite dish? The Garlic Chicken Tikka, with extra Garlic, a stunning dish. The waiters are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble, have eaten here with 2 young children in the past, my kids are now 17 and 15.I always take friends and family here and some now travel here from Ludlow for a curry. Recommended the Adeel to around 40 people over the years and they are all hooked. Its funny that the last couple of bad reviews are from reviewers that have only commented on one restaurant, think it may be rival Balti Houses jealous of the reputation of the Adeel! My tip to these other businesses? Improve your food and service and you may get some good reviews yourself!

As I live in Dorset now The Royal Adeel is an occasional treat for me, I have been visiting for over 20 years and it has never dissaponted me. The quality and selection of dishes is great. The staff are wonderful they always remember me and my friends (who are lucky enough to be able to visit regularly) our meal last Saturday was excellent with starters from tandoori fish to the usual chicken Tika (large portions) a great range of Balti dishes and Kulfi icecream. We will be back on our next visit to the midlands.

WOW!! I was stopping at a hotel down the road and came across this little gem, although a bring your own alchohol, but offlicence across the road, this is the best balti i have ever had, along with the tastiest garlic \ chilli nan. I would definatly eat here again when in the area.

Place was busy not sure how considering the quality of the food and service. Was seated by waiter asked if we wanted poppadoms they got delivered no mention of drinks eventually I had to go find a waiter and ask for a bottle of wine. Food order was taken and eventually food turned up I had ordered a king prawn biryani it was awful prawns like bullets as they had been overcooked I guess but worse was the taste the spices had not been cooked it was like eating a teaspoon of cumin. When I complained I was told that he would tell the chef no apology or reason for why it was so bad. Avoid at all costs.

Started coming to this restaurant over 20 years ago, I was a regular until I moved away from the area about 11 years ago, whenever I visit family in the area I always come back, best balti I have ever had, chicken and egg jalfrezi, served in authentic dishes, staff are really helpful and will make your balti exactly how you want it. Owners even remembered me from 11 years ago. Keep up the good work, long may it continue.

I have been eating at The Royal Adeel for years, in fact I think I had my first balti as a child here!Staff are always friendly and eager to please, we often add to balti's and have never been told no. Once we came to pick up our balti but were met with apologies as I wanted aubergine in my curry, they had ran out so went to supermarket to get some so I wouldn't be disappointed! Portions are always generous, as I have said they will add to your curry if you wish, you can say what strength you want your curry, lambs always tender (I've found at other balti houses it can be quite chewy) and we never leave disappointed. The peshwari nan uses ground almonds so still has the lovely doughiness of a nan and can come with honey on sometimes, depending how sweet you want it! The cheese naan is stuffed full of cheese unlike other balti houses I've been to and I always come out thinking "I've eaten to much but couldn't stop as it was so good!"We have also called in on our way home from concerts, nights out etc and thought I wonder if it's open? Great for a midnight feast! If you do this I would recommend a takeaway though as it sometimes has people in who have finished their night out, harmless but can be a little noisy as they are still quite merry!Definitely one of our faves!

Having eaten several Indian meals over the years, this has to be the worst ever -utter rubbish! Being retired now it is real treat to go out for a meal, unfortunately this meal was a real disappointment & not cheap. I had the chef's special balti & I could make better myself! My wife had chicken korma which was overpoweringly sweet & appeared to be made from evaporated milk. Naan breads were thin & hard & the peshwari naan had not an almond in site & was covered in sickly golden syrup. The restaurant lacked authenticity so save your money, keep well away from this place & go to a proper Indian restaurant. Check how much your meal is before paying as we felt we were over charged but as no menus were left on table we could not check.

This is not the best balti house to go to - all the food looks and tastes the same. The metal dishes food is served in gives the food a metallic taste which is not very pleasant. Nan breads are grilled and not cooked in a proper tandoori oven. Staff and service are good but food lets them down.

What can I say about the Royal Adeel, it is the best India food that I and my wife have ever gad in this country. It was out of this world. The poppadoms and pickles wre really good with up to 6 choices of pickles I loved the lime pickle. The menu choices were so many we didn't know what to have, anyway we both went for the prawn puree and it was beautiful the puree was light and crispy and the puree so tasty and perfect. I had the Chefs continental Baltiith mushroom pilau rice and it was fantastic, my wife had the Royal Adeel Tropical Balti with plain nan which was also beautiful. This is proper authentic Indian food of the highest quality. The staff were absolutely great, very friendly and helpful with our choices explaining what each dish was. They do not have a liquor licence so you can take your own. This is one Balti house that when I am visiting the area again I will definitely be going to. Although a little pricey it is really excellent value for money.

Went to royal adeel's last night and what can I say the quality hasn't gone everything was flawless. My girl friend never eats a full curry and even she polished the lot off and complimented how nice it was. I had the chef's recommendation and I would definitely pass that recommendation on to any one else. This place doesn't need a website to get it it's custom it is down to its sheer quality but any help I could give it I would gladly.

We have been going to the Royal Adeel for over 20 years. As far as we are concerned we judge all other Balti resaurants against the standard of this place. I have to say not many come near it. Most Balti restaurants pander to the european palate and you end up with tastless food. Not the Royal Adeel, you get authentic balti cooking with strong flavours. My favourite starter is the Chicken Tikka, it's better than anything i've had in India! I also like the Chicken and King Prawn Balti. My wife's favourite meal is yjr Lamb and Spinich Balti. Also the Coriander Nan is fantastic.

I have favourably reviewed the Royal Adeel before but after my last visit this Saturday I came away very disappointed. It is, what I consider to be an unlicensed "traditional balti house" rather than a restaurant, and as such has its good & not so good points. They do make an effort with the "pickle tray" which I particulary like. The starters are taken from the servery counter to the microwave and as such don't have the same taste or texture as if they had been freshly done - which is best is for you to decide. The mains are the usual variations on a theme which they are happy to adjust to taste. Normally the food is tasty enough but this week my chicken tikka sag was a bit thin & watery and my wife found her bhuna to be too hot. We advised our waiter who took it back but the kitchen didn't try again, instead they did the common thing of sweetening it up to disguise the heat which didn't work. The wife didn't want to ask for a third attempt so we sent it back and it was duly taken off the bill. As expected the nan breads are the heavier grilled nans rather than the lighter fluffier tandoori nans. We found the service to be quick, efficient and functional rather than friendly. They've spent a bit of time and effort on smartening it up recently but ultimately it's the food that matters. It needs to be consistent, there is a lot of good competition in Brierley Hill High St and the Royal Adeel is not helped by being a little pricey for what it is. £0.90 for one small piece of chocolate burfi on the way out - ouch!

One of the best curry houses in the midlands, Everything is fresh and full of flavour, the place has transformed over the years in to a very nice modern looking restaurant with a beautifully done out upstairs seating area. Honestly the baltis from here are the best I have ever had and if there isn't something on the menu it can be prepared for you with no trouble at all. The service is excellent and so is the food. Zhaffs special sauce for a starter is absolutely beautiful! I will warn you though that the more traditional dishes such as madras, vindaloo and phal are exceptionally hot compared to many other places, but utterly beautiful never the less. Every time I have been in the past 10 years has been exceptional, keep up the brilliant work!

Always had great quality food here for 20 years plus. Great value for money as always , we have never been ill eating here as is more than can be said for other places!!! It has been refurbed in recent years but to me the authenticity of the place says far more, it takes you back to when the balti came popular 30 odd years back and I hope it never changes or what would be the point ???? If you want a fancy posh Indian that looks so good on the plate don't go, but if you want a great balti dish cooked as you want serverd in a balti dish then you will love it, cos we av done for years great value, take your own booze if u like, the best and I won't be told otherwise, excellent delivery service to .

Having just had the worse curry in years. For starters, my partner, had Garlic King Prawns, which were so over powering they were she couldn't eat them.I had a shisk kebab, which had no taste whatsoever. For mains I had Tandori mixed grill, which again had a tasteless shisk kebab, and pieces of chicken and lamb. The lamb was so tough it could have taken on the Taliban, and won.Whist my partner had lamb and mushroom balti, again the Lamb was tough and the gravy bland. We won't be going back again

Felt abit rushed when placing my phone order for delivery. It arrived on time, however it was cold and smelt a little offputting. I ordered a tikka masala, whichis not the same as other restaurants. The naan breads were labelled up wrong, pety i know but it all adds up. Chips were greasy and tasted like old fat. My partner was violently sick within 20mins of eating, and i have extreme stomach cramps. Goes without saying this supposed reputable restaurant will not be getting our custom again.

We rather unexpectedly ended up at the Adeel after our normal port of call "IMLI CUISINE" was full, 10 of us all couples at 11pm on a Sat nite SHOULDN'T have been a problem, BUT 3 of our party waited an hour for starters and when they eventually arrived they were at best lukewarm, after another 35 min wait the mains all came out together AGAIN some warm and some still bubling, after asking waiter to change the WARM meals for hot ones they had to wait another 30 mins while waiters chatted to locals and shouted at each other all in all we left the building at 2.40am some of us still hungry, no apologies no price reduction no offer of even phoning a taxi. In my personal opinion save ur money, go into the High St and visit Imli instead. There's NOTHING Royal @ the Royal Adeel

This is a 'bring your own drink' cheap and cheerful place. The baltis are first rate (voted best balti in the midlands by Beacon Radio listeners). Everything else is good too, but they didn't have the tandoori chicken that I was looking forward to. The service is very efficient and polite; they provide water and glasses for your own drinks and are happy to open bottles for you. I would definitely recommend it.

Used this place years ago. Dont think it’s the same anymore. Nice staff let down by poor quality food. Just had a breakfast £7.95. Sausages was cheap quality and the bacon was tough and over cooked. The hash brown was chewy and had a strange taste. Felt like it had been pre cooked and warmed in a microwave. The meal wasn’t hot when it was served to me. Beans were ok and the mushrooms were hardly cooked. All in all bad value for money. My wife had a jacket potato with prawn Marie Rose which tasted heavily of tomato sauce and a bit vinegar laden. Not what we expected and won’t be back in a hurry.

My father recently stayed at the hotel (booked for 3 nights, only stayed for 1 and did not get the refund back for the 2 remaining nights). He also received a parking fine even though he registered his car plate at the reception. I called on his behalf to ask the hotel to cancel the parking fine. I spoke to Catherine who is the manager there, she reassured me that if I email her the fine letter and the invoice she will email the company to cancel the fine. 2 weeks go by, I haven't hear anything. I then went on to contest the fine myself and sent all the evidence to them (email correspondence with the hotel). I then, for the 4th time, tried to call the hotel and to get through to Catherine. She could not recall talking to me 2 weeks prior so I reminded her of the situation, and told her I also contested the fine. She then started raising her voice at me saying 'now you gonna lose the case! I told you to leave it with me!', btw she never told me not to contest it and if I do I'd lose the case (even though my dad was a guest at the hotel and registered his car). I told her I was worried because it's been 2 weeks and no communication from her, she then said 'you worry too much' I kindly asked her to lower her voice and try to understand my frustration- mid sentence she put the phone down on me, I tried calling back- phone engaged, they most likely blocked my number. I was absolutely shocked- not only they didn't solve the issue, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional without any desire to help. This interaction is not even worth 1 star. Absolutely terrible service!! Please avoid this place at all costs!
