Our Plaice in Maldon

Great little fish and chip shop. Try to avoid 6.45pm on a Friday as the queue is long and as Ali cooks from fresh, the queue can take time to reduce. Worth the wait though. I tried their burger recently and it was delicious.

Friendlier than UK Fish Bar and food was pretty good too, cod and chips.

Called in tonight for fish and chips, waited for the fish to be cooked as none was ready, which is not a problem but the chips were cooked already so by the time we got home fish was hot but chips cold. Place was out the door with people waiting as we left and in the 20 mins we were there they never cooked any fresh chips so I feel very sorry for the people after us. Hopefully this is a one off otherwise we will have to look elsewhere to spend our money in future.

Paid £9.95 on card for medium cod and small chips, fish soggy batter not cooked all the way through and chips pale and hard, took it back and ask for a refund and was given £9 in change told no refunds on card cos they don’t know how to do it? Usually go in there and service and food is great but unbelievably rude today and food disgusting

Really good fish and chip shop only used it for the first time last night and food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was a little slow but can’t really complain if everything else is good.

Extra large cod is huge beautifully cooked. Chips excellent A long established business firstly at another venue in Maldon. We used to support the other shop several years ago. Quality still continued since then. Very polite and appreciative owner and staff Give it a try you will be amazed

Called in this afternoon for fish and chips, chap serving cooked our fish while we waited and fresh chips as well. Nothing not to like friendly staff tasty food and good size portions.

Food is OK. but really needs to be clean it is disgusting the electric fans at so dirty and that fan is blow over the food. The fly buzz is so full EVERYTHING Needs a bloody good clean

This used to be a popular chip shop, proudly run with high standards of cleaning. Unfortunately things seem to have gone downhill. Now the cooling fan over the counter is covered in grease and dust with the electric fly killer hidden behind hundreds of dead flies. The lady serving seems to be the only one keeping the place going, the others just seem bored. The 3 out of 5 food safety points awarded by the council seems generous.

Chips soft would prefer a crisper chip.

Had fish and chips from here on Saturday tasted good, nice size potions nothing not to like. Fair price, fast service, friendly staff.

Phoned ahead and ordered our food, was told 15 minutes. Upon our arrival food was served up and we were on our way in no time. Food was lovely and hot and tasted good.

Went here tonight for the first time, due to the current lock down called first to check they were still open and was able to pre order our food for collection. Three of us had cod and chips and my daughter had sausage in batter and chips. All tasted good and fresh. Good size fish and chip portions. plenty for us all. Will we go again for sure, good food friendly service and helpful. Worth a visit.
