Stumbled across this beautiful charity shop with tearoom at rear.Unfortunately the tearoom didn’t live up to the expectation of the charity shop.We waited a while to be allocated a table, not a very welcoming woman let us through and asked us to order at the counter which was ok.We had trouble finding a table that wasn’t laden with dirty plates awaiting clearing,in the end I chose a table with the lesser of dirty plates which I moved onto the next table adding to the dirty plates already there, then we asked for the table to be wiped and the woman came out and did give the table a quick cursory wipe.We went to the counter and ordered tea and cake. The cakes did look nice and were carefully covered. The tea arrived via a young waitress and the cake followed.I asked for one piece of cake to be changed as a third of the piece was crumbs and at £4 per slice it wasn’t acceptable. The young waitress did change it.It’s so sad as the setting here is very nice but sadly I can only conclude that the staff here aren’t happy in their work as they appeared miserable with no customer empathy.I wouldn’t rush to return here sadly but the charity shop in the front is delightful…very disappointing…Yours Stuart P….

As usual we had a wonderful visit at The Olive Tree for brunch - the cappuccinos are always hot and delicious and today we tried their poached eggs on fritters dish and it was amazing - apparently one of their best sellers and we can see why! Definitely a gem of the Otford High Street!

Visited The Olive Tree today - very nice tea room area . I asked for a fruit scone with Jam. All I can say it was a great disappointment. The scone was very dry and with only two sultanas in the whole scone. Even with butter and jam the scone was dry. I did mention this to a member of staff when leaving - but staff member seem uninterested. Sorry to report this but this was my first visit since the tea area had changed and such a disappointment . Thank you for reading this review.

Excellent cafe although possibly a victim of it's success as I think they would have struggled to find me a table if I hadn't been OK to sit outside - it was busy and several indoor tables were showing as reserved. Tea and coffee was however very good, as was my toasted sandwich and there was loads of choice on the menu. Will return the next time I'm in Otford.

My 93 year old mother is confined to a wheelchair. We were very fortunate to find this lovely tearoom which I selected purely on the fact that there was only one shallow step to negotiate unlike all the other tearooms in Otford. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and kind. My mum loved the tea and cake and has not stopped talking about how much she enjoyed herself. Would thoroughly recommend.

We stopped at The Hospices of Hope shop for a little retail therapy and something to eat.The shop is a lovely collection of items including clothing, new gifts, interesting bric a brac and furniture. We then headed to the cafe for a snack. The cafe is light and prettily decorated. I had a ham ploughman's which was delicious and came with a choice of baguette or home made savoury scone! My friends had toasted sandwiches which looked delicious too and were served with salad. Tea came in teapots with pots of boiling water to allow for 2nd cups perfect for us keen tea drinkers! We were then tempted by the home made lemon curd ice cream which was amazing.....really creamy & lemony! All in all a lovely afternoon place to stop. Staff were all very pleasant and cheerful. There were 4 of us including one friend in a wheelchair. The old building means it has steps. Not all parts of the shop are accessible and the entrance to the cafe has a step from the inside and another inside but they are manageable and the cafe is definitely worth making the effort. With a disabled badge we were able to park right outside the shop....another bonus.

Though clearly well patronised by locals, tourists like us seeking a light lunch were greeted warmly. The two of us were given a table for four but soon after, because they were so busy, we were asked to share. They asked so nicely and the couple that joined us were so pleasant it made our lunch an even more enjoyable experience. The other couple lived about ten miles away and yet this had been a regular stop-off for them for many years. Service and food was great, the prices reasonable and for what it's worth the charity shop section looked a cut above the standard High Street fare. We'll be back.

This charity shop is in the centre of Otford and stocks an array of items including clothes and even has a changing room. At the back of the shop is a quaint tea room serving hot and cold snacks. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had a cream tea each which consisted of a hot drink of our choice, a fruit scone, butter, strawberry jam in a mini jar and clotted cream in a plastic container. The scone was fresh and delicious we could just have done with a little more jam. I would recommend this tea room if visiting Otford for a refreshing cuppa and or a snack. Only negative was the visible rat/mouse trap box in the corner of the room very near to some tables. I understand the need in these old buildings but it probably should be hidden from sight of the customer’s.

What an interesting combination!A charity shop with a tearoom, this eccentric shop combines the excellent work of a charity shop with the charm of a tearoom, where you can have a variety of teas, coffee, sandwiches and excellent cakes. All served by polite attentive staff. The only slight criticism is that the decoration could be more homely, with attention to the detail of a tearoom, it needs more colour, but on the whole it is an excellent place to spend an afternoon relaxing in "The British Way"If you are in or near Otford and want some refreshment after a busy day walking, cycling or shopping go there and enjoy the ambiance of a true British gem.

There are four doors to this property, two are locked, one leads to an upstairs property and only one leads to the charity shop in which this cafe is housed. After finding the right door, one has to negotiate racks of items for sale, clothes, book and all manner of stuff in the said charity shop after which at the back, one will find the cafe, which is split into two rooms. The staff were smartly turned out (and slim!!!) and there were are photographs of patients of the trust which is not what I envisaged seeing in a cafe. There were all manner of fresh small and large cakes to buy and some folk popped in, made a purchase and then left with their cakes. As well as these sweet items, there were a lot of healthy options on the menu displayed at the front by the serving area, although not on each tables. There were flowers on mall of the tables too. The cafe can be described as twee, old-style and upmarket and attracts a smart diner. My meal a baked potato, was quickly prepared, tasty and reasonably priced and for that I am grateful. A nice cafe if a bit tucked away .................... enjoy the hunt to find it!!!

You might easily miss this establishment 'hidden' as it is around the back of the charity shop. We often pop in for a snack - my wife likes the shop - and it's a friendly place for a morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea sort of place.

Went with my elderly mother. We enjoyed smoked salmon sandwiches , tea and scones all freshly prepared. The staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The added bonus is that it is in a delightful Kent village.

Lovely friendly atmosphere and service. Tasty sandwiches, coffee and ginger beer. Seems popular with the locals understandably. Charity shop has good selection as well.

Every time I visit Otford I love having my lunch at the Otford Tea Rooms. You feel at home, the staff is brilliant, mostly volunteers and ... they support a great cause

We arrived at 10 in the morning and we could smell the freshly made scones coming out of the oven. The shop is run by a charity called Hospices of Hope and all the profits go towards hospice care in Romania. A way to feel that you are supporting a worthwhile cause as well as enjoying a good coffee and a cake! The lunch menu looked enticing and the service by volunteers was warm and friendly. Prices were very reasonable and the tea shop has an adjacent charity shop and gift area. A great find!

Lovely spot to stop on a walk for coffee or lunch or drive there too. It had good outdoor and indoor seating and you’re served from a shipping container on a farm. The food is good and some unusual choices. The service is slow as everything is freshly made so don’t go there when you’re in a hurry!

Went on Friday and was very poor ( I said before I wouldn’t go again & wish I hadn’t ). No poached eggs as they were “too busy” & can you believe they’d run out of bread by 2 o’clock? How about you send someone to Waitrose to restock ? Definitely my last visit. Will go to Gail’s or one of the other places . This is a cafe without a toilet that charges top notch prices and doesn’t offer the food or service to match .

The best fish finger sandwich I have had in ages. Lovely staff who were warm and welcoming. It was a wonderful country style atmosphere
