Amazing pub, great atmosphere, sometimes they have quizzes

Enjoyed the non alcoholic beer. Ghost bitter. Hot day was refreshing. Next time must take a photograph of the drink. Must go back for the live music which I enjoyed before. The atmosphere I like and friendly people serving and customers.

Stopped here again this lunch time had to call in for a drink and a bite to eat got a warm wellcome again as allways place nice friendly spotlessly clean and tidy they serve fresh cooked hot tasty food at fantastic prices if you find your self in Sevenoaks try the anchor pub it’s fantastic so thank you Jenny and crew love mr cheeky in Kent 100/100 stars

Longman best bitter was excellent. The bar man was efficient and helpful. The blues band was out of this world. Fairly late in the evening people were treated to smashing sausage rolls, pork pies and salad. It was a really wonderful night.

I had booked a table for lunch with my wife and guest. When reserving I told the manager I was bringing a Royal Navy veteran, Roy, in his nineties who was in a Sevenoaks care home. He was very kind and said he would reserve the table just to the left of the door as you come in, also we pre-ordered two fish and chips to save time I also asked if they could look after Roy as he has mobility issues and make a fuss of him I was thus disappinted to arrive and no table reserved. Nobody seemed to expect us and the one person behind the bar did not pay any attention to Roy The fish and chips was terrible, obviously cooked from frozen with a hard deep brown crusty batter and a thin runny slice of fish inside - not fresh and flaky The burger was much the same, thin and processed and not fresh meat, but for £5 can't expect much! Beer was great - well kept and with the few single men drinking alone in the pub this is just a good traditonal boozer with food as an afterthought it seems

We go here for a social with our local choir. They are so accommodating and supportive for any local musical groups. Always have a fabulous time. The staff couldn't be nicer. Drinks are food are great.

Best pub in Sevenoaks, simple as that. As well as a top-drawer selection of ales at the lowest prices around The Anchor has the full range of amenities you'd expect 'the local' to have but so few still do; fresh food every day, live music at least twice a week, regular darts matches, television in a corner discreetly showing sport, even a meat raffle, as well as occasional specials, for example an authentic Greek meal van visiting once a month. None of this would work without personality and under the leadership of Barry, the biggest hearted landlord in the business, the staffs natural charm make this the friendliest and most welcoming pub you could hope to visit. I've seen some places with 'Enter A Stranger, Leave As A Friend' on the door; The Anchor doesn't need a sign to say it, it's the reality of the place. If you don't leave here with a smile on your face walk across the road to the Town Medical Centre and tell them your soul's fallen out somewhere.

Proper traditional pub {over 21s}run by award winning landlord. Pub grub not gastro meals. Choice of real ales also lagers and 0% Ghost Ship in bottles and Guinness Zero on tap.

Service was good and friendly and I will return.

Popped in for 1 drink. Nice friendly staff, seemed like a proper pub. I can't rate the food as i never ate.

We visited from Eynsford, as this is a gem of a pub. A traditional pub, with an old world feeling about it and very friendly.Prices were also 70p a pint cheaper than my local! We will return 👍

Great old-fashioned boozer on the Sevenoaks high street (though it's a bit of a hike up the hill from the railway station for those with limited mobility but there is a bus service). Long-serving landlord serves good beer. Nice bit of live music when we visited on Sunday. Well worth a try😁👍.

Best pub in Sevenoaks by a country mile.

This is not a nice pub. The landlord is a nasty individual who hides behind so called banter avoid using this pub. I gave it one star dose not really deserve that.

I stopped here on Tuesday evening on me way home first impression very warm welcoming how a proper pub should be like they do food from what came out looked very nice might have to try out next visit yes I will be back to this pub soon watch next mouth for my review I will do it love mr cheeky in Kent glen x

There is no where else like the Anchor. Barry is the host with the most. Visit just to have a bit of banter with Mr Sevenoaks.

Lovely little pub in the town centre. It was a nice quiet spot to have a bite of tasty lunch and a cheeky vino.

The best ever pub in Sevenoaks! We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas dinner; the food excellent as was the service from Barry and staff who were all so incredibly welcoming.

A wonderful place. Great host. Great ales. There are not many left like this little gem.

The selection of ales was excellent and kept extremely well It was a real pub in the best sense of the word, the governor was happy to chat to us, the staff knew what they were doing and customer banter was excellent

My dad and I went today for lunch. We both had pie mash veg. It was delicious !!! - mash nice - pie full of chunks of meat - veg perfectly cooked and lots of gravy. Good size portion(had to leave some) and very good price - my dad (often a fussy bugger)😉 said it was the best pie he has tasted !! We will def come back. Wish I had taken a pic of food now to show the generous portions

This is the best pub in Sevenoaks. Great live music venue. I've been to open mic nights, live bands, folk nights and blues nights. Staff are friendly, great atmosphere and the free sandwiches that appear halfway through the evening are much appreciated. Great to support an independent pub that supports local live music.

What a brill wee boozer this is. They made me and my pals feel so at home with some great banter, top scran and good drinks. We all left in laughter and really enjoyed our time here. We came by accident but next time we will come on purpose. Thanks from all the campers and Scots !

Great pub! Great people. Non-pretentious. It’s where the locals go! We were treated like old friends by everyone we met.

There is a reason the locals very much use this pub. You won't find prices as low as this for home cooked food. On our visit on a Friday lunchtime, we were amazed how good the pies were with seasonal vegetables. I would definitely return. We visited two other pubs in the High Street. One only had sandwiches, the other just over priced burgers in a brioche bun.

Don't live here but clearly after a few mights of drinking this is the best pub in town for ale with 3 good beers. Landlady and locals friendly and good music.

The only 'Proper Pub' in the area. Great beer, lovely, home cooked food and a fabulous, friendly atmosphere. A bit like stepping back in time to happy days!

What is fantastic place. Never been to this town, let alone this pub, but it's amazing. Both the staff and the regulars were cheery and chatty. The barmaid is such a wonderfully lively person- whoever pays her wage should pay her more! Not overly salubrious, but it just doesn't matter. The Guinness was excellent as was the Butcombe Original.

I don't get to Sevenoaks much but I needed some art stuff. I noticed this pub as I went to the art shop and decided to give it a try. I was rewarded with a great pint and some excellent pub grub. It is very much a traditional pub which is rare nowadays. I will certainly visit again if I venture to Sevenoaks again.

I called into the Anchor last night, the first time for a long time, and having seen the review of the pub in the local paper, that the Landlord, Barry had been running this pub for over 43 years, i was pleased to see that all is well, staff all present and correct and the hospitality has not changed after all this time. Long live the local, serving traditional pub values and locally brewed beers. #carbonfootprint #superkent

This is an amazing pub I pop in now and again when I’m in Sevenoaks for 1 or 2 drinks 🫣 Barry is the best landlord ever but be aware it’s difficult to get away from him if you make eye contact because he talks for England if not Britain 😂😂

If you want a pub experienced with the best landlord in town this is the place to be. I wish we had gone there for our celebration meal but really enjoyed our pre dinner and after dinner drink there

First time in the pub but only had time for a very good, generous half of Pennine and the Anchor ale. Barry and I had mutual acquaintances and which came as a surprise. Will be back.

Good food and decent ales, I'm a fan of their "Gentleman's measure" of spirit and choice or mixer, it's a great idea and I thi k more places should adopt it. Will visit again when in the area. Seems like a great place to become a regular. Thank you guys!

The only place in Sevenoaks you will get a 'light and bitter'. Very much a locals pub with a friendly welcome and a relaxed place to have a pint.

Very friendly however I ordered spaghetti Bolognese and received a pasta bake dish thingy. When I mentioned this is not what I ordered I was told that this was spaghetti Bolognese!! My family had roast dinner wasn't great frozen vegetables and potatoes. Nice clean pub

An early Christmas dinner laid on by the wonderful Barry, mine host. Beer selection was superb as normal and in excellent condition. A good meal was enjoyed by the West Kent CAMRA branch.

I love this pub! I love the staff! Though it is so good it can get busy! I go there with my theatre group for post show drinks after performing at the STAG. Barry the landlord always makes us very welcome and he doesn't mind our raucous singing either!

The problem i have is do i review my experience or do i review the pub itself? I say this because my experience was awful. A place filled with territorial locals casting un welcoming stares,my friend (a woman) and i sat down and halfway through her drink said "i feel really uncomfortable" that was enough....we left....But to review the pub is a different story,its a nice little old traditional pub,the staff were friendly and attentive,the beer was good with try before you buy and even though we couldnt get to it they had a dart board! I realise 'locals' are the bread and butter and you need them in these times,but they are going to be the reason people dont come back.

I came in here with some friends from work as part of a day out before lockdown. One friend suggested The Anchor as it was an old haunt of his and they do the best cheeseburgers. He wasn’t joking, they are AMAZING! Staff are very friendly and prices are brilliant!

What cracking service! Popped in as my wife was shopping. Was given a taster of all the beers before I chose, without asking! Great place, lovely friendly people, staff and customers. Pop on in for a pint, you won't be disappointed!

Categorically the best pub in Sevenoaks. Barry (The Landlord) is an absolute gem of a publican, Welcoming, funny, keeps an amazing pint and takes the time to speak to each of the customer. Does it feel a bit 'local' the first time, yes. Do you you feel comfortable within moments, yes! The Anchor will definitely be my preferred stop for a quiet pint from now on.

Love this pub! Always a warm welcome, Barry is just a real gem, an old school publican, so rare these days. Makes a change getting away from the chain pubs around. Barry gets some candles in to make the place a bit cosier ;)!!

best pub in Sevenoaks by miles! Popped in as its in Good Beer Guide and I love ale. Encouraged my work colleagues to go in and they werent disappointed either. Wish this was my local brilliant staff well kept beers and really lovely atmosphere. Exactly what a pub should be. Shame I can't go in more regularly but at some point I'll be back brilliant tradtional pub brilliant beers.

The first time that you walk through the door, you are a visitor in a locals pub. The second time that you walk through that door, you are one of the locals yourself! This is not a place for those who want to sit at a table and eat a three course meal in silence, it is a place for those who like good beer, and good conversation, in a friendly place. Not a pseudo restaurant, not a drinking warehouse, but a real pub. And a very good one too.
