Ostlers at No.1 in Worcester

Wonderful Sunday Lunch. We cannot remember when we have had such an excellent meal out. No ping ping bought in processed food here. Fresh vegetables, beef was to die for, enormous home cooked Yorkshire pudding. The dessert menu looked lovely but we all were too full. Definitely going to be our first restaurant of choice. Thank you to all of the staff, both front and back of house for a lovely meal.

Was welcomed by a very friendly hostess. Was given adequate time to look at menu. Good variety of food. Cod was fantastic cooked to perfection and lamb melted in the mouth. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

I started visiting in 2002 when I was 18 years old training at Quanta. I live in coventry so it’s not easy to keep coming back. But we try several times a year and you have never disappointed. Thank you!

This place is essentially serving poor quality pub grub at inflated restaurant prices. One of our mains was so cold we had to send it back. But the worst of all was the chicken which was visibly pink inside. The portions were small (the second two as both had to be swapped) and the overall atmosphere is cold. Staf are surly and don't seem happy to be there. Wll not be going back.

We were staying in our motor home at The Mill House and wanted to go for a nice meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Bicycles are our transport so we did not want to travel too far! Ostlers was recommended and so we booked a table. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and feels very welcoming as soon as you enter. The tables look very classy but not pretentious. I had a moment of disappointment as the menu bore no resemblance to the one on the website, and I had my heart set on the Turbot, however, I chose a cod fillet dish and it was delicious. To start I had cauliflower cheese balls with a pesto sauce, my husband had salmon ceviche. Both dishes perfect, lovely flavours - particularly the picked cucumber - very subtle. As I said, I had cod served on the most delicious mash and my husband had pork. All totally faultless and tasty. We had a treacle tart desert between us. All accompanied by a very nice and reasonably priced bottle of wine. Tap water was brought to the table automatically - no need to ask. We are not ones for making a fuss but the fact that it was our anniversary came up in conversation. We were asked to wait after we had settled the bill and a plate of strawberries and chocolate were brought to our table - see photo. The staff were friendly and efficient and there is no added service charge included - one of my pet hates. We were free to add service charge ourselves - which of course we did. We look forward to our next trip to Worcester so that we can return.

Excellent food and service. Totally different menu from similar venues. excellent ambience. Nearly £14 for a glass of average Malbec is not acceptable and daylight robbery Otherwise perfect.

31st wedding anniversary. Lived in Worcester a number of years yet this was our first visit to Ostlers (I recall some years ago its opening hours seemed focused on the Swan Theatre). This to me seemed like a replacement for the long lost Saffrons, a nice bistro atmosphere, really good food, good location. Happy to recommend, definitely going back.

Staff were lovely and very helpful Unfortunately we sat at a very wobbly table, ordered nibbles to find they were not available. Truffle and mushroom spagetti very tasty but off putting as far too much of it was served, would have fed a family of 5! Seabass not as tasty as expected. I took my partner and two teen children for a late Sunday dinner last weekend. I hadn’t been before however friends go regularly so we gave it a go. It’s quite small inside however I think that adds to the atmosphere, it’s very cosy and nicely laid out. The food didn’t take too long and it was very nice,good quality and generous portions. The staff were friendly and polite. I would certainly return and would highly recommend people try it.

No faults at all with the food - just lovely! Each course was imaginative and tasty and good portions - can’t ask for more. I had the beetroot starter - goat’s cheese was tangy and fab - it would be good to know a bit more about sources, esp if they are local. Rhubarb dessert was seasonal and elegant and very well done. These are just two dishes but the seven dishes the three of us had were all excellent.

We were a family group of 8 adults. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and we were welcomed by a couple of the staff upon arrival. The food was top class (particularly the pork belly and the pan fried cod) and the desserts absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable and we had a fantastic evening. Would definitely go back again!

Very welcoming and accommodating. Super food - well cooked and presented, and good size portions, so we were certainly full after three courses. Heartily recommended for celebrations or a good quality meal out with friends and family. We will be back.

The best meal I’ve had in ages. Great food, nice menu choice in a lovely independent restaurant. Without Saffrons in Worcester any more this is closest to that kind of place and refreshing to see a menu with starters, mains and desserts listed (as opposed the myriad of different options for courses in most places nowadays). Genuinely one of my favourite restaurants in the UK. Menu is great, chefs are super talented, service feels family and professional and the ambience is so warm and snug. Handled my wife’s allergies easily and produced food for her than was equally as delicious as mine, thank you. Handy car park around the corner too.

Visited for a Friday date night. Table booked for 7pm. Arrived a few minutes early and the restaurant was still locked so had to wait outside. Once it opened we were shown to our table but the restaurant was cold. Ordered breads and olives to start. Bread was delicious and warm but the olives came straight from the fridge and where far too cold to eat. Main course was delicious and very tasty but although warm on being served, stone cold before we finished eating. Disappointed as the pork and vegetables were absolutely delicious but I don’t like eating cold food. Such a shame as it’s a lovely restaurant and lovely food but attention to details is lacking.

My partner and I visited for a spontaneous lunchtime treat and what a treat it was. The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and calming the service was attentive without being annoying. The menu was not extensive which is how I prefer it (better to do a small amount well in my view). As a vegetarian it was nice to get more than soup and risotto - I had a trio of beetroot with goats cheese followed by baked aubergine. Each course was beautifully presented and the flavours well balanced. The portions were more generous than we expected and despite being quite full we ate it all as it was so tasty. We had been meaning to visit Ostlers for some time and we will definitely return. Can't fault it.

Best food we’ve had in a while. Had the goats cheese and ham hock to start and red snapper and pork belly. Can’t recommend enough. Service is very friendly.

Four of us came on Saturday for a friends night out. It was our first visit but our friends had been before. Really good ambience, attentive service and the food was excellent. Three of us had the whole plaice and one had the pork belly all very good. The pate starter was excellent. Will definitely return.

It is not often that you can just walk into a restaurant of thus quality on a Friday night and be treated with a warm welcome and splendid food. From start to finish, this was a great dining experience, with attentive staff and a 'justright'atmosphere. Dining solo can either be excruciating, or a joy. Thankfully, this was the latter. So good, I'd make a trip to Worcester to go back (I'll book next time!).

Lovely little restaurant that's easily missed. I was looking for somewhere nice with a small menu (usually means its fresh and not from bookers etc). I found Ostlers at No1. what a gem of a find. Lovely staff very welcoming. We got there quite early as we are not late eaters. so was the first there, it soon filled up. Great menu with freshly cooked & local food. We had a friend with us that can be quite tricky and fussy and demanding. She loved it. that's always a win. nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they was pleased to assist. Would i eat here again- 100% absolutely. go try it for yourself.

Just ok . Went for the special 3 course for £20 food was ok but nothing special. Myself and my partner both thought we were so glad we didn’t pay full price and wouldn’t go back . The waitress was good but the lady who greeted us gave the impression she didn’t care if you were there or not . There was no atmosphere and in fact apart from 1 other table it was empty.

Food was ok. Service is the reason why its a low score. 20 mins to make a coffee that is badly made. Nearly an hour to make a meal that looks like its been thrown together. Staff never asking if you are happy. If you go dress like your middle classed , you will be ignored ,treated with disdain and looked down upon Ironically the place was half full and the front of house turned a couple away saying they were busy, after the couple had been waiting around 5mins to be spoken to. Ironically we were at a 2 star Michelin resturant a week ago and we were treated with dignity. So if our money was good enough there im suprised that our money wasnt good enough in the center of Worcester So people, if you have a sense of grandiose, an average pallet with tendencies to look down on people and a little sprinkle or narcissim. This place is for you.

My daughter and I had matinée tickets for the Swan Theatre where we assumed there would be a revenue-spinning cafe, but there isn't. Ostlers is very close to the theatre and there is a public car park next to it, too. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime and the restaurant was quieter than it deserves but perhaps the rain was keeping people at home. I had a mushroom and Stilton burger with gorgeous chips and a lovely, generous salad including a gherkin, which I think only cost £8.95 or perhaps £1 more. My daughter had a toasted cheese sandwich with the same trimmings, which was slightly cheaper. The drinks were standard price. Food was fresh and tasty with good service in a welcoming setting.

Absolutely beautiful breakfast, piping hot and cooked to perfection, I would recommend to everyone. Beautiful place.The person who served us was so friendly she was wonderful.
