This was the best meal we have had in at least 10 years, both in terms of the amazing food, cooked to perfection, and the service, which was top notch. All the staff were friendly, helpful, attentive, made perfect recommendations, and made us feel very welcome. Even the chef came out to see how our meal was, as he was kind enough to cater to a particular request we needed. We will definitely come again, it’s our new favourite restaurant in Shrewsbury.

My wife, my son and I love this place. We have been coming to Osteria consistently since they opened and we have never been let down. The staff are the best I have ever encountered anywhere in the world, from the bar-staff, to the chefs, to the waiting staff. Osteria gives you that family feeling where they genuinely care about you and remember you and your family’s preferences. The food and drink choices are second to none and are as good as anywhere in Italy itself. Grazie Mille, Osteria.

We went her for my partner's birthday meal with the family. The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming taking time to talk to everyone and make recommendations. Food was beautifully fresh and tasty.

A large restaurant which was quite quiet as it was a Monday night, but they managed to maintain the ambiance by having seating areas zones so we felt slightly more cosy. Food was absolutely amazing. You could tell it was made from scratch with fresh, good quality ingredients. Would definitely go again

Came across this Mediterranean gem whilst on family mini break, so popped in for lunch. Having lived in Italy as a student some 30+ years ago, I am frequently disappointed by restaurants claiming to serve authentic Italian cuisine. Osteria did not disappoint. Opted for their lunch deal of pizza and a drink and it took me straight back to Italy. Decor and music added to Italian ambiance and service was brilliant too. Will definitely be back again. Only criticism - Panna cotta (my favourite) not on the dessert menu. Good job I don't live in Shrewsbury or I would be there weekly.

Lunch on my birthday - where to go. Headed towards Ask Italian when my wife told me she had been to Osteria with our daughter and had a great meal. So - change of plan and Osteria it was. And wow - what a wonderful place. Started with olives and bread followed by mushroom tortellini for my wife and traditional Italian pasta carbonara. I say 'traditional' as it differed from the microwave variety you might get at M&S or Waitrose as much as canned peas would from just picked garden peas. Less creamy with great bits of ham and pecorino cheese. Accompanied by a light white wine, a salad and some truffle parmesan fries we had a super meal. Lots of great service touches as well - such as being asked whether we wanted to include service in our bill. A good price - and their £8 lunch deal for pasta or pizza with a glass of wine looked amazing value. Totally recommended and will go back with the family.

I had a fantastic meal here with my partner! This is authentic Italian cuisine made with heart by true natives to Italy. A lady who co-owns the place personally took mine and my partner's order, and we felt welcomed and attended to. At the time, they were serving a kind of black bread (I believe I was told it was some kind of edible charcoal used as a colouring) which me and my partner found visually striking and delicious. At the time we were told that it is a sort of fun special for halloween, but I hope it has been made a permanent fixture to the menu. For my main, I had an authentic carbonara (made with pecorino and guanchiale as tradition demands) and it was the first time I had a true carbonara in the UK. It was delicious, and I would eagerly recommend it to anyone who is curious. My partner, who is vegan, was initially slightly disheartened by the seeming lack of vegan options on the menu, but after talking to our waitress (the previously mentioned co-owner), she revealed that many of the items on the menu can in fact be made vegan with plant-based substitutes for any animal products. She ordered a pizza, which was also fantastic, and hard to tell from real deal! Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience which is provided by genuine, friendly people. I will be returning, and I eagerly recommend a visit to anyone who is looking for authentic Italian cuisine in the Midlands.

Read about the reputation for food and decided to try the mid week lunch options . Nicely greeted , and the two of us were shown to a table for four - first impressions were of a city centre student bar , very sterile , cavernous and dowdy . The wooden dining chairs are not designed for a comfortable experience , and the table settings seemed minimalist . Lunch offer was exceptional value .My wife had a (half) pizza and a drink for £8 whilst I ordered the Squid ink seafood Tagliatelle off the a la carte for £17.95 which was very good . The dish was overflowing with baby mussels ( I counted 15 shells ) plus two plump scallops , a smattering of prawns and miscellaneous bits of other seafood . Probably would’nt go back

With many nearby restaurants closed on a Sunday evening, Osteria was an inspired choice and can be recommended for an authentic Italian meal. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is of a good quality, portions are generous and value for money is assured. Slightly disappointing is the lack of main course fish dishes and a less than generous choice of vegetarian main courses. Despite this, an enjoyable experience and worthy of a revisit.

Why oh why as residents of Shrewsbury it’s taken us this long to discover the hidden gem that is Osteria I do not know. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome, allowed to sample the wine before ordering a bottle, it was a very quick decision 🍷 The service was so friendly and personable, I advised the waitress of my severe nut allergy, next thing the owners partner Marta was at the table, she was excellent. We ordered bruschettone heritage & burrata as a small starter to share, it was delicious. For mains I opted for Risotto Chianti & Salsiccia whilst my partner chose Tagionlini nere al frutti di mare. The food was exquisite, flavoursome, well presented, generous sized portions, we couldn’t have asked for more…..grazie, grazie, grazie 🇮🇹

I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough! Had the lunch menu deal - pizza and a drink for £8! ( go large for £10). Excellent, friendly service by knowledgeable staff who cannot do enough for you. Superb tasty genuine food - a real taste of Italy!! The puddings were to die for too. All in all a fantastic experience all round.

This is a little gem of a restaurant and in my opinion the best Italian in Shrewsbury. The food is absolutely beautiful and the pizzas are extremely delicious with plenty of topping and the tastiest dough ever! The staff are friendly and helpful and the service excellent. I highly recommend their lunch menu which is excellent value for money, but also Osteria is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion in the evening. The menu is varied with plenty of choice to suit everyone. The chocolate/caramel crumble pot on the dessert menu is a must! I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough and can't wait to return very soon.

Highly recommend this award winning Italian restaurant, I am hard to please when it comes to eating Italian food however I found this restaurant faultless. Osteria, won an accolade in 2023 as Best Italian Chef with their award winning Pork dish which hales from the Rome , you will find it's not hard to understand why they won this industry accolade. Having tried their pork belly starter , I wasn't disappointed, , wish I had tried the dish they had won their award with however all the more reason to go back, we were just visiting Shrewsbury over the weekend. We tried the pizza's for our main course and were not disappointed , they were just as good as what I have eaten in Naples at a world famous Pizzeria, the portion size defeated us and the staff kindly offered to box it up for us to take out with us. The service was great too and the restaurant and its facilities were spotless and very pleasant. The meal was good value and I feel the quality of their food and their award winning success has a lot to do with the Chefs being mostly Italian from different regions of Italy, which gives choice and authenticity in terms of their menu using high quality but simple ingredients making for a great dining experience - 10/10 !

Absolutely fantastic! I arranged a meal for my aunties 60th with 40 people attending. From start to finish was amazing! From organising it weeks before, the communication was great to the actual day. Nothing was to much trouble. We had our own area. Table service was perfect and the food was just fantastic, the different flavours were mouth watering. Were planning on going back for my daughters 16th soon as I can not fault one thing and they take away any stress on the build up to a big party. I highly recommend going and trying their food. If you’re looking for delicious food, great service and a warm welcome Osteria is for you. The pizza is exactly as you’d find in their native country and as an added bonus the service was friendly. When we are in the area we would return without hestiation.

Osteria an Italian restaurant in top 5 of trip advisor restaurants in Shrewbury list. Walked from Prince Rupert hotel through olde worlde Shrewsbury high street to historic Mardol street. Interior is modern but lacking atmosphere. Staff are very helpful and obliging and I was asked many times if they could help me further during the course of my meal. Wine list was overpriced for the wines on offer. I baulk at paying £30 a bottle so I settled for a delicious lager similar to Peroni. I had a huge bowl of olives and bread to start(great)followed by a large pizza tasty and well cooked. I left a space for a dessert which was strawberry cheesecake and ice cream. An optional 10% service charge is added to the bill and the staff asked me if I was still happy with the charge. I would have left a larger tip the food was so good. All in 3 courses and two large beers including optional 10% service charge came to £41.A bargain.

Myself and my Italian husband live in Italy and on a recent visit to Shrewsbury we went to this restaurant out of curiosity and because we were missing our normal diet. We were happily surprised to actually eat some proper Italian food exactly like we would have back home! The whole meal was delicious and the staff very attentive and welcoming. A truly sublime birthday treat from the melt in the mouth Braised Pork Cheeks to the unbelievable depth of flavour in the Sea Food Taglioni and such generous portions too. There is only one question to be asked, why have we not been to OSTERIA before? There is no doubt we will be back for more!

We went for a meal on NYE. we were seated at the front of the restaurant that was very quiet so we asked to be moved into the busier part. No issues and staff very accommodating. The food was amazing. The pork belly bites and risotto were superb. We’ll definitely be back when we’re back in Shrewsbury.

Clearly very popular, so certainly doing something right. Food was largely good, although not amazing. When mentioning this to serving staff, he suggested rather sarcastically that he should bring me something else from the menu. Clearly reading previous reviews they do not take criticism well. An interesting and varied menu, that would appeal to most. We felt the food was not hot enough, pizza could have done with less tomato base and a couple of minutes longer in the oven. This could be because the restaurant was very busy. One thing that frustrated the party was the hard sell on drinks, we were approached eleven times asking if we wanted more drinks? Which rapidly went from helpful, to annoying, to being almost beyond parody. This could be avoided if one lone person was responsible for the table

Second time we have eaten at this restaurant and this time surpassed the last time. From ease of booking, the meeting at the door, the excellent friendly service and brilliant food they were all exceptional. The bisque on the Prawns, the tomato sauce around the Gnocchi, the Calamari and then, Oh, the 50 Shades of Pork, this was the best meal I have eaten for a long time, my wife's Chicken dish was excellent and the Cannoli Siciliani as sweet was far superior to those we ate in Italy this year. I must say, the experience was just as exceptional as it was at their previous location. This family-run Italian restaurant continues to impress with its top-quality food and friendly, efficient service. The homemade cannoli and tiramisu were absolutely delicious, and the fact that they were made in-house only added to their charm. The starters and mains were also incredibly satisfying, to the point where we almost didn't have room for dessert. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Osteria V2.0. If you're in the mood for authentic Italian cuisine in Shrewsbury, I highly recommend giving them a try. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent Italian food, service was perfect. I had fried calamari with a dip as a starter and it was really good. The real Italian carbonara was delicious. Excellent food and service made me come back the next day to try their pizza and I wasn't disappointed. Thin and crunchy dough was perfect.
