We went to La Dolce Vita on Saturday night for their 6-course tasting menu. Wow! My previous favourite meal (ever) was in Denmark in 1982 - this meal surpassed it in spades! Every aspect of our 3-hour dining 'experience' was outstanding. The food was absolutely wonderful and the service first class. The recommended pairing of the wine proved to be exquisite and the whole evening was sublime. If you are looking for a memorable night out, I recommend unreservedly that this restaurant is the one to choose. Finding a new 'best restaurant' after 40+ years is quite something for me; I'll certainly being going back very soon.

We visited on a Sunday night and had the 6 course tasting menu with wine flight. All the dishes were sublime and served with a lovely personal touch. This is fine dining Italian style and excellent value. Well worth a try!

Always special, La Dolce Vita's food is unusual, tasty, beautifully presented and unforgettable. They have also added an optional cheese course which is just enough and the blue cheese is epic. I won't explain what we ate because I can't do justice to the way the chef combines familiar ingredients in amazing combinations and textures.

I’m 7 and I really wanted to have the experience of authentic Italian food and the tasting menu, so I convinced my mum to bring me here. The restaurant is usually fully booked at weekends, so we needed a week’s notice to book a table. The dining room is not very big and is cosy with about 6 tables. The tasting menu had 6 dishes on it and a couple of snacks. I tried every dish even though I don’t normally eat cheese, cream or fish. One of the snacks contained cream cheese, which is not my thing, but I ate it anyway because I was hungry. The peanuts (salt and vinegar flavour) were a good snack and kept me occupied between courses. Zucca was the first dish and had layers of butternut squash purée and cream, it was really not my thing due to the sprinkled seasoning on top, which was unfamiliar taste for me, so I didn’t eat much of it. Orata was the second dish, which was a fish dish and I don’t normally eat fish, so I gave it to my parents and they said it was tasty. It had pear gelato with it, which was nice. Ravioli Di Mais was next, and it was my favourite out of all, it had a great sweet taste and even though it contained clams which is sea food, I ate all of it! Then it was Anatra, which was duck with beetroot purée, I love duck, it’s my favourite poultry, I ate all of it and enjoyed it very much. The remaining two dishes were dessert, and because I had bread and peanuts in between dishes I wasn’t hungry anymore, so when it came to Fico, which is a cooked fig with raspberry and ice-cream, I just tasted it, it was yummy, but I didn’t eat much of it. The second dessert, however, I polished off completely, it was Chioccolata and tasted like a brownie with ice-cream but better. La Dolce Vita is now my favourite Italian restaurant and I hope it stays open after the owners retire. 🇮🇹 Greyson (7 y.o.)

This was a complete experience for me being a stake and chip man. First time ever trying a taster menu and not disappointed everything was full of flavours and textures. I was really worried at first as not a cheap meal, but left very happy with the overall experience. The owners of this place have something to be very proud of. One of Shrewsbury little gems. We booked for the six course tasting menu as a treat for my son’s birthday. From the moment we arrived, when the staff all wished my son a happy birthday, until we left nearly three hours later, we felt pampered, cared for, and extremely well fed. Each course brought new flavours and textures, and all were delicious. There was nothing we could fault, or say we wouldn’t eat again, which is unusual. Each dish was superbly presented and served. I had always wondered why La Dolce Vita was consistently no.1 in Shrewsbury. Now I know. This family run restaurant is excellent. They even put a candle in my son’s pudding! My recommendation? Go there. You won’t be disappointed

Me and my husband went for lunch at La Dolce Vita today. It was THE BEST food we have had. The dishes are delicious, the ingredients are of high quality and the family that run the restaurant are truly talented at what they do. We are already planning our next visit.

If you are visiting Shrewsbury @ladolcevitashrewsbury is a must! It’s a family owned restaurant where the chef/owner thinks of every last detail for the menu. Last night I had the tasting menu which was adapted to be gluten free and safe for my pregnancy. The chef, Patricia, came out to explain each dish and any adaptations. This was the best meal I’ve had in the UK. The main adaptions was the crudo which was switched to chargrilled cauliflower with peanuts, and then the ravioli switched to potato gnocchi.

Dined here for the first time and was absolutely blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. I had the vegetarian 4 course taster menu and was so impressed with the delicious flavour combinations. Each dish was fresh, colourful and beautifully balanced with real depth of flavour and presented with such finesse. The service was also superb - friendly throughout - right from the initial booking to the end of the night. Not only does this place offer incredibly presented food with interesting and creative flavours - it does so at an affordable price. Already planning my next visit!

No wonder this restaurant comes top of the TA review's because it is superb. On our last holiday here we had lunch so we came back especially for the dinner tasting menu, from beginning to end every course was excellent. It was all done with the minimum fuss and no great theatrics, I just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often, please go you will not be sorry,

Just had the most amazing meal @ La Dolce Vita 4 course taster menu and some little snacks to start and finish with!! Paul had the wine flight and I stuck to the sparkling water, Iv been blessed to eat in some amazing restaurants around the world but have to say this comes on top and only just down the road in Shrewsbury. Their combination between flavours and textures just really works and every course was just a real treat. Highly recommend will definitely be back. Thank you for looking after us so well. Service was professional passionate but very warm and welcoming as if you were part of the family.

We managed to get a sought after table on a Saturday night. We received a very warm welcome, this is a small family run restaurant, Mom, Dad and Son, dad runs front of house, Son I think is the head chef with mom assisting and also serving the dishes, she is so friendly, as is everyone we met. We had a 6 course tasting menu with 3 different snacks to start and we opted for an additional Italian cheese course and coffee and sweet treats. The food was superb! Flavours were amazing, some of the courses, had they been on an a la carte menu I wouldn’t have chosen but so glad I was not making a choice, they were very tasty and looked beautiful on the plate. Really sad to hear that Mom and Dad are retiring soon but I sincerely hope Son carries on as his standard of cooking I would not want to miss. 5 Star Food, Service and ambience

We just had a wonderful experience here with the four course tasting menu. The owners are very attentive and warm, without any sense of pretentiousness…even though the food was top level! We’ve come here before when visiting Shrewsbury, and will certainly keep coming back here. A top experience.

Our first experience at La Dolce Vita and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and the food was spectacular. Everything was perfectly balanced in taste and beautifully presented. This was the lunchtime menu and we can't wait to go back and try the evening tasting menu next time

We went here for an anniversary lunch earlier this month - the food was absolutely delicious! An excellent friendly family run restaurant in central Shrewsbury. We will be returning for the evening tasting menus!

We went here for a birthday lunch and had a wonderful meal. This is the second time we've been here and its been fabulous both times. It's obviously not the cheapest but it never pretends to be. It is however great value at £22 for a 2 course lunch. What you're paying for here is high quality ingredients crafted into excellent plates of really good food in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Already decided to book for our anniversary later in the year.

A small restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, and big, beautiful flavours. We visited as a couple on a leisure trip. The Maitre D’ is from Naples but has lived in UK for over 20 years, his son is the brilliant chef. The other 2 members of staff on duty were friendly and professional, explaining each course in just enough detail. We had pre booked the 4 course taster menu and were not disappointed. Although the portions initially appeared small, the taste of each was superb and filling. It is impossible for me to choose 1 favourite but I could rave about the monkfish and the dessert of chocolate and coffee ice cream. My husband also had the cheese plate which he tells me was also very good. We would recommend this restaurant and would return if ever we are in Shrewsbury again.

We visited on a trip to Shrewsbury to celebrate my birthday. We booked the 6 course tasting menu. Everything was lovely. The food was sublime, especially some of the starter dishes. I don’t like olives but I loved the dish with them. Imaginative and tasty. The wine we had was excellent. The whole experience was positive. The food, the service, friendly whilst not being obsequious, the table, well spaced out, and the timings, we felt the pace of serving was just right. We really enjoyed our evening and hope to return.

25 years as the best restaurant in Shrewsbury is a challenge and la dolce vita accepts the challenge and smashes it. 5 years on from our last visit and everything has changed to a new menu choice but the change is about moving with the times and the quality remains exceptional. We had the great pleasure of dining at this restaurant a few nights ago. What an absolute delight! The food was exquisite and presented beautifully. Each dish was carefully explained by the waitress or the chef’s mother. We were made to feel so welcome and the family team couldn’t have been more lovely. We struggled to decide which dish was our favourite as each one was fantastic. The homemade sweets with coffee at the end were very special too. Our real highlight was meeting Chef Gennaro at the end!

A friend from work recommended the tasting menu after a recent visit and as a regular visitor to La Dolca Vita. I went last night with my Bestfriend who is also a trained chef. Upon entry we were greeted by the very friendly owner who works front of house. We were sat by the window and very soon our snacks arrived. The food was extremely delicious, so many flavours and textures through the different courses. Difficult to say which was our favourite as everything was wonderful. So fresh and so tasty. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio Rose which was light and complimented our meal. There was an option for a wine flight which we will try on our next visit. When each course came out we were given full details of ingredients. My friend has a shell fish allergy so her crayfish ravioli was swooped for a mascarpone version. The venison was delicious, as were the two desserts plus the amazing all edible sweets served to finish. The restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and their son is the exceptionally talented and creative chef. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience. The chef came out to speak with us at the end which was lovely. A wonderful experience which I will relive again in coming months. A gem of a restaurant in my wonderful home town of Shrewsbury.

Simply incredible from start to finish! It's far beyond a good meal out. We opted for the 6 course taster menu and both got the optional extra courses and the wine flight. Every single course was deliberate and packed with flavours, textures and even tempurates. Original thoughts with expert execution. You won't try anything like it again in your life. Something you must experience, and something to remember. The wine was paired beautifully with descriptions of each bottle given from the host, complimented by a true Italian accent. He was warm and attentive all evening, and all elements of the service were perfect, even pairing the wine for our additional courses. And the food was bought out and explained by the chefs mom, who was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and passionate. We thought the value was fantastic for the genuinely extraordinary experience we received. I will be back for every new menu now I know you're open Sunday evenings, something new to look forward to. A 10/10 dining Experience! La Dolce Vita presented an incredibly intricate, adventurous and beautiful selection on it's taster menu. Paired beautifully with its Wine flight, each course took us through a journey of flavour and texture that left us exceptionally satisfied. This was a dining experience that I have rarely had the pleasure of enjoying. Utterly wonderful food and presentation! The entire meal lasted over 3 hours, which to our surprise had flown by without notice. We were far too ingrained in the tastes, dishes and very comforting service from the staff. We had a lovely conversation with the staff at the end of the night which thankfully allowed us to compliment their amazing restaurant! We were made to feel like part of the family :) Definitely a must to visit if looking for a dining experience in Shrewsbury!

Exquisite! Exceptional! You will leave with your belly six courses heavier (and your purse sixty-five quid lighter) - but you will be content with both counts. Every course is well thought out and pulled together into a blend that seems more set for an artist's palette than the plate - because surely it can't taste as good as it looks? But tasty it is, and by the end of the evening, you will agree that six was just about the magic number of courses (unless you fancy adding the cheese - we did - in which case seven is heaven...) It's not cheap, but you certainly don't feel swindled, as every ingredient is unequivocally fresh. We suggest that LDV must have a hidden garden behind the restaurant that is fully stocked with ripe fennel, pumpkins, porcini mushrooms, microherbs, macroherbs, and megaherbs (the final two may be made up). Service is friendly, familial, and altogether Italian. Delicious food with lovely hosting, and the vegetarian option is a beast of its own that is worth coming back for - there's no 'just take away the meat' here - it is clearly a carefully considered menu, and many of the veggie dishes compete with (or beat!) the meaty versions. Prices on the wine list are also surprisingly reasonable. Recommended! And recommended again!

We booked La Dolce Vita for our anniversary dinner and opted the six course taster menu...and it was perfect in every way! This is quite a small, family run, restaurant with only a few tables and, as a result, the service is very personal. Chef presents some of the courses at the table and everything is explained in great detail which adds to the experience. The food is sensational, seasonal and exquisitely prepared so that you can taste every ingredient on the plate. Special mentions have to go to the heritage tomato salad starter that is served with baby basil leaves, a tomato water and frozen mozzarella (more an ice cream actually but literally "summer on a plate") and the strawberries with a cracked black pepper merengue and basil ice cream dessert. However, to choose these above the other 4 courses feels desperately unfair as every dish was insanely delicious. The wine options are fabulous and clearly chosen with great care and the whole setting feels modern and comfortable but very stylishly Italian. We cannot recommend La Dolce Vita enough and will certainly be going back. Many thanks to all of the staff who made our visit so special.

Exceptional food. I have eaten taster menus in a lot of places and as a vegetarian I seem to get an array of different takes on the same things... but not here. Each dish was well thought out, extremely tasty and very well executed. I loved the atmosphere. It is small and bejou and intimate. Over all I couldn't fault the food or the wine flight.

On arrival the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. On a Friday and Saturday its a tasting menu. Each course was absolutely delicious. The quantity of everything served was high. A real taste sensation The basil icecream was a beautiful surprise. All areas were spotlessly clean. Service was spot on. Highly recommended restaurant.
