I was walking in the area and decided I needed a hot drink to warm as it a cool breeze coming off the Humber. Seating was available both inside and out and I took shelter inside. Limited seating inside but there was only another table, so plenty of room for just me. I ordered an espresso and as they could not find cups, had it in a paper cup. It looked rather sad and lost in a giant cup, but was still good. Nice find down near where the ferries set sail.

We stopped at the ‘Oss Wash’ cafe for a drink whilst walking the ‘Hull fish trail’ with our 4 year old granddaughter. We were about half way round and in need of refreshment! The majority of the tables and chairs are outside, adjacent to the old pier from where the ferry across the Humber used to depart in times gone by. There are also a couple of tables and chairs inside (but it is quite small) where we moved during a heavy shower of rain. Our granddaughter had an ice cream (Mr Moo) cone. The rest of us had drinks; tea, beer and cider. There are public toilets just opposite. Everything was absolutely fine but it did smell of stale chip oil inside the cafe so perhaps it is time to change the oil... Incidentally if you wonder about the odd name, ‘oss’ is Hull-speak for horse and references the nearby ramp to the old horse wash site in the river Humber, again many moons ago! There are calendars and leaflets featuring the unique Hull dialect on sale in the cafe, although £6 for a 2019 calendar in September seems a bit expensive! If they had had a 2020 calendar I might have bought one for relatives who moved away. My tea was served in a Hull dialect mug.

From the moment I walked in with my 5 month old baby, Emme welcomed me. I sat down and fed my baby whilst I waited for friends to come and Emme went out her way to come to my table to take my drinks order and bring the card machine to me as I was feeding my baby. She was very smiley, friendly and checked how our food was when it came. Thank you Emme for your lovely service!

Food was ok but one item was missing. When I called to report this I was advised I could get it replaced tomorrow! Not great so I had to get it refunded.

What a shame. This place is clearly run down. Hygiene and housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Food - edible but disappointing and certainly not as the pictures in the menu promise. We've been coming here for 15 years but this was the last time. A sign of this times i guess. This place needs serious investment to bring it to its former glory.

As always we had a great time in this lgbt friendly cafe bar. Friendly chatty staff fun atmosphere (there's often a drag act on or dj) and most of the prices are cheaper than weatherspoons.
