I ate a sausage from here tasted disgusting like it had gone off so I threw it away I was sick about a hour later and have been ill for 3 days now went to hospital Monday were they took a stool sample to tell me I have food poisoning I can’t say it’s 100% this place but coincidentally I only ate that and tasted rank now I’m bodily ill since eating here

Osca’s is the only place to get fish and chips. They serve up plump fish, fresh batter, perfect mushy peas and the ultimate chips. Don’t be seduced by any other littlehampton chip shops - this is the only one worth considering.

I like this chippy, the fish is very fresh and the service is great. We always go for a takeaway because there is nothing better than eating fish and chips in the open. Bring back eating in newspaper.... Frequent this chippy quite a lot, we are not local but have family in Littlehampton.

The worst fish and chips ever. Service was dreadful because they’re greedy with tables you have to stand outside until your order is ready. Twenty minutes - quite excited though it would be very fresh. The cod was so dry, the requested salt and vinegar not apparent. Absolutely disgusting

Often down this way on our motorbikes. Osca's is always our choice. In our experience, some of the best traditional F&C on the south coast east of Chichester.

Received a lovely welcome, our order was taken and we sat in the window seat. Our lunch, fish and chips, were cooked from fresh and when it arrived, it was steaming hot and very big portions. Can honestly say, the batter was crispy and not fatty, the cod cooked to perfection, and as for the chips, to die for. The portion size was excellent. We opted for a dessert. My friend went for the apple pie and ice cream and I opted for the chocolate nut Sundae. The pastry was light, and the apple was just right. The sundae was a delight and very good value for a lovely finish to the meal. Really love Osca's, lovely and clean, great staff and food has never disappointed.

Oscar’s is a fish and chip shop opposite the River Arun in Littlehampton. It offers both take away and eat in fish and chips, so it gets very busy at times. Other foods are available too, all at value for money prices. The restaurant is kept immaculately clean and the staffs service is perfect. We had cod and chips. My large cod was enormous, well cooked, tasty and well presented. You need to try it to believe it.

As a local I would recommend Oscars, grate food and lovely staff. Eat in or take away. Or find a bench to over look the river.

Oscars produces the best fish and chips ever tasted. Now there’s a bold statement to make! For us it’s true. The fish is always cooked to order by fish fryers that know their game. If your really hungry try the large cod, it hangs over the plate each end. Crispy batter and large flakes of cod make for a most wonderful meal. Add the chips, with a crisp crunch on the outside, then the fluffy white centre and you have a meal that hits the spot every time. Sure it’s not the cheapest around. Quality doesn’t ever come cheap. Pay a little extra and enjoy the food.

Excellent fish and chips. We had cod and chips with mushy peas. The fish was fresh and cooked with a very light batter made with sparkling water. The chips were perfect too.

There are two types of fish and chips. Greasy or dry. Here you get dry. I appreciate some people like it this way but we prefer greasy. Not their fault. The sit down area is clean and the staff friendly. The food is well priced as well but on this occasion it wasnt us. But it was busy, so people like it this way. Until you try you dont know,

Never been to Littlehampton before popped in here menu showed £8.00 for fish & chips only discovered later that price is for fish on its own chips £3.00 more so why not make it clearer. Bread arrived but I had to point out to the server that it had blue mould on it then £1.00 for mug of hot water was the tin hat on this visit. Needless to say we won't return

Great little fish shop! Service was efficient and good and the fish and chips were served fresh and hot! Good value for money and would go there again!

Osca's is an awful, awful place with very rude chavvy staff barely able to string a sentence together. Ordering was an unpleasant experience, much of what we wanted unavailable, but when we had finally ordered and paid the real problems began. My autistic daughter wanted to stay in the cafe to wait for her chips then have control over how much salt went on them. A simple enough request. When she said she would use the condiments on the table, "They're for eat in customers!" was barked at her from the eyebrows behind the counter. We were then asked to wait outside somewhat threateningly. 3 of our party complied, but my daughter did not want to. We were then asked again to wait outside, so I explained that she was autistic and did not want to. This was met by vacant, blinking looks and later the explanation that it was 'for hygiene reasons'. This seemed unlikely, having just seen one staff member siphon vinegar from a pickled onion jar into a dirty bottle with an obviously dirty funnel; then place it rim down on a counter and once again use it to now siphon malt vinegar into another dirty bottle. This zealous care for 'hygiene' was further reinforced by the girl wrapping chips repeatedy touching the side chips of each portion then wiping her hands on the backside of her jeans. This happened 7 times before our food was ready, so presumably it happens repeatedly throughout the day. Upon closer inspection the counters, tables and walls were all covered in a layer of grime and everything from the sellotape around the order hatch to the frying equipment had seen better days. As for the food, the greasy chips etc were mediocre at best, the burgers inedible. However, the bitter taste left by their ignorant discrimination was even worse.

Appalling Customer Service, Order Incorrect, Chips Not The Freshest And Pie Tough Like Old Boots, Inedible For Me. Not My First Choice At All And I’ve Never Enjoyed Their Chips And Curry Sauce. Mushy Peas Runny And Cheap Tasting. Wouldn’t Recommend At All, Everyone Thinks It’s Great But It’s Convenience As It’s Situated Opposite The River, Tourist Go There Because It’s Where All The Local Seaside Attractions Are In Littlehampton! They Wouldn’t Survive Anywhere Else. Total Lack Of Customer Service And Blamed It On The Noise And How Busy It Is! Firstly, If You Know How Loud And Busy It Gets Then Make Previsions And Secondly, Customers Shouldn’t Suffer Because Of Their Incompetence. I Was In Hospitality, Even With No Staff Turning Up In The Height Of Summer I Still Managed To Have All Rooms Ready For Guests! A Bad Workman Always Blames His Tools Spring To Mind.

My self and family came in today . we ordered 2 small chips I large and a medium chips... we decided to take them home as the weather was not very nice to sit on sea front.. once at home we handed out the chips to relevant family... I will say the chips were amazing taste but the portion size for a small was ridiculously small I would have expected the size I got for my 4 year old grandson it didn't even reach the top off the poly tray!!! Please consider portions had I have stayed on seafront I would have bought them back

Food is ok howevee, it left a sour taste in my mouth due to the rude service recieved from the blonde server. It's not ok to be rude to customers and make them feel like they are an inconvenience to your day.

Osca's cooks to order and never fails to deliver fantastic fish and chips.We miss being able to sit inside, but because everything is cooked to order it is still piping hot when we get home. The staff are always really lovely. We've thoroughly enjoyed ever meal in/from Osca's!

Having enjoyed a walk along sea front we then went to Oscars for take away lunch. Impressed by organisation for placing order and the fact that food was cooked to order, hence short wait outside. Our meal was most enjoyable.

This is the best fish and chip shop in Littlehampton, cant beat eating in car by the harbour, at least they have kept going despite not eating in. The staff are always nice and its a pleasure to do business with them.

There is no longer an option to eat in and you just have to queue outside and take away ( perhaps here lies the problem ) . we just wanted chips to share as a family and therefore I ordered a large portion only to discover that the chips barely covered the polythene container ? .I did ask if the portion would actually be large before I ordered some . I felt really ripped off once we had opened them . I should have gone to one of the others along the strip as there were plenty to choose from . Makes me wonder what the small or medium portion would have looks like ?

Why there was a queue outside this place I'll never know. Bland chips, undercooked cod with tasteless batter. For fish and chips by the sea this was a let down. Fish also looked like frozen fish.

We were so impressed by the first delivery of fish and chips back in May that we now have a delivery on a fairly regular basis.It's so easy to phone through the order which is taken in a friendly and very efficient manner. The delivery is always at the time requested and apart from just one occasion ,the fish has been lovely! Food is always hot and freshly cooked. Well done to all the staff who have provided this excellent service and food.

The fish and chips were perfectly acceptable but nothing to remember. The service could be improved. From the queues outside it is very confusing who needs to order and who's expecting to collect orders. Also, you can wait 15-20 mins even outside lunch and dinner times (for example around 3-4pm.)

I ordered 2 adult sausage and chips and I opened it and have never laughed so much in my life at what was looking back at me, I thought.. this must be a joke? So then we opened the other and there it was again.. the joke a of a sausage size about 3 inches long and 3.5 inches with the batter. We are still hungry. I can’t believe this, Hangry doesn’t cut it this joke of a sausage has ruined our family day out.

Had the best ever haddock and chips takeaway here on Saturday. Beautiful fresh white fish in thin crispy batter, with great chips. All delightfully hot. Very pleasant staff and quick service.

We used Oscas delivery service during lockdown. We were so impressed that we have continued to use the delivery service. Always delivered at the time they say. Always freshly cooked, tasty & hot. No complaints at all. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious cod and chips and a very generous portion of curry sauce. The chips were what I call proper chip shop chips and the batter on the cod was lovely and light. The shop has a very good system to make sure it adheres to the Covid 19 guidelines which made us feel safe.

Noticed two fish& chip shops and went for the one with the smallest queue. Big mistake. The service was appalling.Staff were clearly not customer focused. When my daughter accidentally dropped her saveloy sausage as she picked up the order next to the counter, it rolled into the floor. I asked if they would be able to replace it for her and the woman just starred at the person serving and ignored us. We thought they're very busy as only 5 people allowed in the shop at one time. So my daughter patiently waited, but they confined to ignore her. So eventually we went back in and ask again, if it would please be possible to have another one?The response was rude and unhelpful, being told it was her fault she's have to pay. I would have paid, but by this time my daughter had lost her appetite and felt as if she'd done something really terrible. This was our first family trip out since lockdown and we want to sort businesses, but they need to understand its difficult for us all. A little customer service goes a long way! Next time I'll try FREDS next door

We visit Osca’s often, it’s a half hour car trip for us but the food is great, the staff however are unfriendly, unhappy and verging on rude. It’s a shame because this place could be legendary.

Went to Oscars today- they messed up both our orders, and when I said "sorry this isn't my order", all the women in the kitchen told me off and made me feel horrible by insisting it was my order, and that I was the one wrong. Ordered fish cake, got fish burger drenched in vinegar, and a burger with relish turned into a burger with ketchup and cheese.Horrible women, really put me off ever ordering there again. Rather would spend more money and not be humiliated at Fred's next door.

After a day on the beach my partner and myself Tried Oscars fish and chips for our early evening Treat to eat outside on a warm day ..WHAT. A MISTAKE?? We ordered 2 cod and chips to eat while we were sitting by the boating lake. The chips were reasonable but the fish was swimming in grease and after a few bites we realised it was completely tasteless. Both fish went in the bin. Despite this chippy getting 4.5 stars I would advise gong elsewhere.

Excellent service paid for delivery tasty hot fish and chips times allocated always on time or like this week due to an accident had a phone call to say might be late. Fish is lovely as so are chips x

Fish & chips were excellent but the queueing system & ordering then having to wait outside to wait for call was about 30mins might have been easier to stay at home & phone & wait for delivery.

Never been here before but, the family was craving haddock and chips, and our usual chippy was shut. We were all delighted with the food - freshly cooked, flavoursome and piping hot. The service adhered to all social distancing regulations so picking up our order was not an issue.

Have been coming here for a few years. We always order cod and chips and have found the food to be excellent quality and fairly priced. Staff are very pleasant. Nice to have the option of eat in or take away.

Visited Osca’s on Sunday 11 August we were very impressed and delighted with the quality of the food - batter crispy, beautiful fresh fish and great value at £10.50 for fish and chips, mushy peas, bread & butter, cuppa plus dessert! Unfortunately we were overcharged as the waitress charged for the desserts instead of including them with the special offer, however, when I returned 2 days later (with my receipt) the manager was so apologetic and insisted upon returning the over charge of £8 by insisting I take £10.

Service was unbelievably POOR!! Please train your staff. Ordered takeaway as no table available waited 15mins for food and then 2 tables came available while we were waiting we asked if we can sit in to eat instead and would pay extra for it, they wouldn’t let us ! Wtf! They then proceeded to serve the customers first who came in after us as they were seated, we waited about 30mins for our fish and chips. What a joke! Fish was ok chips were abit oily and soggy.

Always go to Osca's for taje away fish and chips they are the best and I have tried others no names mentioned. They ard fresh and hot as cooked while you wait. Also have eaten in as well good service. You will not be disappointed .

Hands down some of the worst customer service I've had super arrogant..will definitely not be going back..I can't believe management put these sorts of people with absolutely know serving skills in front of people...absolutely shocking and I'm a 44 year old builder I don't shock 2 easy

We've been to Osca's many times in the last few years and have never been disappointed, Food is always cooked to order and is hot and tasty. Prices have risen a little since our last visit, but it's still good value. Staff usually friendly and welcoming

Good portions, nice thin and crispy batter and probably too many chips, unless you are starving hungry of course. A pleasant, clean and comfortable restaurant where there is a total absence of smelly chip fat. Good service too.

We are a running club and had a race along the beach. We ordered 60 portions of Fish and chips for afterwards. The staff are amazing as we were not the only club to do this. All food was cooked to order and hot. Not one complaint and the bill was spot on. Can't thank you enough and we will definitely be back next year. Diane HJ's.

Great fish and chips in a fabulous location. The food was great, service very friendly, prices very reasonable and you just can't beat the location. Will return if in Littlehampton again and would highly recommend

We went to Osca’s today. My MIL’s favourite fish shop. Now I know why. The fish was soft and succulent, perfectly cooked and the batter was thin and crispy, not thick and stodgy. First class, highly recommended. There is a children’s menu, very reasonable price. Discount for OAP.

We come most weeks on our motorbikes. The Haddock is some of the best I've had at that price. Crisp light batter, with meaty fish. Great service. Looking forward to going back again. Fred's is good Oscas is better.

Food was good with some vegetarian options. The staff were very good and friendly and there was good seating arrangements.

We come in here regularly as they have a great meal deal. Food is always cooked fresh and is arguably the best around here and the staff are efficient and friendly.

Dining area perhaps a little sparse, however, this restaurant come take-away is a little gem offering excellent quality, great tasting Fish and Chips with great value.

Visited this long established fish and chip shop for the first time in 18 years and found that happily it’s hardly changed since I used to be a regular there ! The same amazing quality food served by great staff. Hope osca’s continues for many more years to come , simply the best !!

Our favourite place for fish and chips and always go here. The best way, we think, to have our fish n chips is to buy it here, and take it to the beach on a warm summer's evening and eat it while the sun goes down over the lighthouse. Oh, and wash it down with a glass or two of Prosecco.
