Oscars Fish & Chips in Bexley

We really like this place. Staff are friendly and nice to have option of pizza and other items for members of family who don't like fish. The pizza is very good and good value.

Food was hot and fresh, very nice

Picked up quite a few takeaways from here lately and the fish and chips are always nice and hot and tasty. The fairly recent addition of pizza's and other food has been good because not all the family always want fish so sometimes son gets a really freshly cooked pepperoni pizza.

Ordered on uber eats. I was missing part of my order and the cod was shocking £11 and it was the size of a battered sausage. I called up and all I got was rude and unhelpful customer service. Would not order from here again

The chips are the worst I’ve eaten. The fish cake wasn’t great either. Horrible and a waste of money. Don’t bother.

Although the large portions of ships were on the small side, overall was tasty food

My husband isn’t a fussy eater but only managed to eat a few chips as they are vile. No taste and swimming in oil. They leave an awful taste in the mouth, I asked for salt and vinegar but couldn’t taste any, all I could taste was oil. Even the “crispy” chips at the bottom were soggy! My husband’s burger was just a plain beef patty, no salad not even onions, how can you serve a burger without onion! I would highly recommended going somewhere else. 5⭐️hygiene but 1⭐️ food.

As said a couple of weeks ago, and I wish I had ordered somewhere else! The fish was awful two small pieces of haddock in each box and chips were so dried up and awful we threw them away, considering this cost £29 including delivery it was terrible.

sorry to say food was only warm 3/4 way through eating it chips were cold fish just warm. After leaving a good tip for delivery person it might be that he was late collecting my order so my be tipping should be done after receiving the goods. wasn't very happy eating warm cold foods watching football. Usually have great food from Oscars but food arrived stone cold and the chips were very dry unusual there food is very good

Honestly the worst saveloy I’ve ever had, half of the skin was missing and the taste was awful.. honestly inedible. Not to mention it took an hour to come

Fish was over cooked in far too much batter. The fish also did not taste at all nice. Chips were okay but not again the taste was off some how. Really disappointed. I have used them 2 times before and they have not been great but today was the worst

Paid 12.95 for cod and chips and it was the tiniest portion you could imagine the cod is skiny and tiny and there's just about enough chips to serve one person im a bit shocked tbh never seen a cod portion so small

Generous portions, perfectly cooked fish, chips just as I like them...and lovely friendly service. The large Haddock was spot on!

I kid you not, the best I’ve ever had in my life. The chips are so fresh and crunchy and a battered sausage has never tasted so good until now. Was not a one-off either, constantly and consistently serving good food

the gravy and curry sauce are like water, so runny! even though they taste nice, you can hardly get any on your chips without it just running straight off

So disappointed. I have eaten from this place before and it was lovely but today I had the thinnest piece of cod and the batter was over done, chips were not cooked through. Couldn’t eat it and went straight in the bin. Disappointed

this is the second time we have used Oscars. First time amazed how nice everything was prepared and cooked. Today Haddock, Chicken Nuggets and Scampi was lovely but the chips were hard and inedible and all three of us threw most of the chips away.

Only thing that let them down was the pie. Looked like it had been sat there for a while and was dry

Delicious and tasty Haddock and Plaice. Nicely cooked and very fresh! The portions were massive! We live in Bexleyheath, there are plenty of fish and chip shops nearby, but we prefer to order from Oscar's when we can :-) Thanks for the extra chips, much appreciated 😃

like the idea of asking if I want vinegar, salt. also like the idea for putting a tip on the bill for the delivery person as I don't always have lose money. drink was missing from my last order.

Far better than when it was owned by the other guy. Doesn't have that calor gas taste to the food anymore . Service is great . Portions are alittle small - chips were excellent . Haddock was very tasty . Will defo be back Friday. The master fryer has some competition, plus oscars is cheaper .

Been here lots of times over the years as it’s the local fish and chop shop. The fish is always very nice and tastes great, it’s definitely worth ringing your order ahead

Was a nice meal, shame they sent mushy peas instead of the curry sauce that was ordered. Delivery seemed to take an age.

Not its usual best. Had to warm meals up in the microwave. It got delivered around 15 minutes later than expected. Had to ring up to see where it was.

Ordered at 8pm eventually arrived at 9.10. Not sure why. They couldn’t have been busy because the cod had obviously been sat in the warming cabinet for some time as it was all dried up.

Didn't feel the quality and portion size of the large portion of cod and chips was worth £15.99. Disappointed from what I've had in the past.

Quality was not good and portion size was poor. The delivery man did go redeliver a drink that was missed from the order which was really kind. Not sure I would order again from here which is a shame as it’s been good in the past.

Don't listen ask for plan burger get it filled with sauce so can't eat it food wasn't that nice

Not as good as it used to be. This was easily the best chippy in the area when it first opened, but now it's just meh... Not particularly clean in there either.

Appalling inedible food. How old were the two portions of fish and chips? How stange that the thick batter on the fish was hard on the outside and gooey in the middle. The fish was weird. The chips were hard strangly marbled with black mould. Everything went into the bin. Ordered from deliveroo. First time they have never asked me to review a restaurant. Why? Never ever order anything from this place! Do not waste your money.

So disappointed this evening....we had to cut through the fish as if it was chicken.....taste was not as had before......maybe it wasn't the cooking but the fish....I support suppliers due to price increases but tonight wasn't fish...tasteless and inedible. Such a shame x

Absolutely disgusted, me and my family brought fish and chips the other night and we all can’t get off the toilet. My brother has been hysterically throwing up for 4 days now. Would not recommend anyone to go!!

Never again am I ordering from here again, whole family left on the toilet and vomiting. I had fish cake and chips, 99% sure the fish cake was left old as I’ve been vomiting 3 days now. Rating 1/10 never had food poisoning until now.

Went here as my normal fish and chip shop was on summer vacation. Do not eat here. The fish was too small and well cooked and too dry. Also gave us all the stomach bugs and have to keep going to the toilet. Probably not fresh fish. A waste of my money. I will never go back.

Customer service has always been spot on. Lovely owner and the girls behind the counter are very friendly. Parking is not the easiest and wish they would take card. Apart from that they are spot on as their food tastes great too.

Bad customer service, food wasn't great, portion sizes where okay but it was priced accordingly so I wouldn't exactly call it a generous portion. Fries were also soggy and a little undercooked.

Been here for fish and chips a few times lately. The takeaway is swift and the food is really nice and fresh and the fish is delicious. Definitely worth a visit

Always freshly cooked good quality food

Lovely owner and fantastic chips. I visited the shop just before closing this evening. It was 21:55. Most fish and chip shops would have been reluctant to serve us and given us old chips but the owner and staff were so welcoming and made us fresh fish and chips. They were all very polite and the chips were freshly made and of excellent quality. Just what we needed. Thank you for a lovely meal and great service 😊.

Have used Oscars for some time, a d I am sorry to say, the standards have dropped dramatically. I am used to them cooking there fish fresh to order. The last couple of times I have had a delivery, the fish seemed to be warmed up from lunchtime. Not nice at all.

Chips was stale and the cod was cold and soggy basically cat food. Could it actually be any worse when you're having fish and chips!!!?? Spoke to a girl who manager wasn't in the shop however her boss was but he couldn't help or resolve my disappointment!!! Explain that one please!!!??? I wasn't offered a fresh meal, only to be told to try and get my money back from UBER EATS. It's times like this that small local places should be serving quality and not rubbish... the only positive thing I can say is I saved on my calories. Straight in the bin.

Unfortunately a disappointing experience. The fish was good with a crispy butter however the chips were pale and soggy. There is no point in doing half of it right. Sadly will not be ordering from there again

Lovely fish & chips, large portions. Been to Oscar's many time always been very good.

We got the Haddock and Chips £10.95 via Deliveroo on a weekday evening. The portions are huge so 2 of us shared 1 portion. I was half expecting the fish to be soggy by the time the delivery arrived - as with most fish & chips places- but I was so surprised. The batter was SUPER crispy, the fish was really meaty and the whole thing just wasn’t greasy at all. Chips were nice too. Highly recommend and would definitely get this again.

will not every go there again bought me and my children fish and chips for tea to find a stanley blade in my chips absolutely disgusted. so dangerous very upset about this i will be taking this further.

Essen hat mir nicht geschmeckt, Service war schlecht, in Rechnung 6 Euro zu viel berechnet. Werde ich nicht empfehlen.

Good chips but the fish was very wet and not enjoyable.

Ordered through just eat. Order was ready to be delivered at 7.01pm we didn't get it till 9pm. We rang restaurant to be told its here and if you want it either pick it up or just cancel with just eat. The younger lady was rude unprofessional and unhelpful. They delivered the 2 hour old food and it was cold dry and inedible. We did not eat anything just eat won't refund and restaurant don't really seem to care. Next time I'll stick to places we know.
