Had a great time here Thursday just gone, staff were lovely in particular Tyler went above and beyond with table service even with a busy venue as I need a walking stick usually, and Shaun helped me down the stairs nothing but good things to say!

Generally a good cocktail bar. Let down today by it's door staff on what seems to be a quiet Friday night by banning single person entry. When asking bar staff after I arrived to form a group about the policy they shrugged it off thinking it was the bag.

Always nice to drop by. Friendly staff nice drinks and good company. If you like musicals and want the occasional sing then this is the place for you! It's cozy though so pick your times carefully.

Great bar, lots of fun if you love musicals. There are live performers regularly. My only complaint would be that some nights there is a *lot* of Glee songs.

We didn’t eat but bar snacks available! Service second to nones atmosphere so friendly: initial thoughts was a locals pub but everyone so chatty and friendly. Then met Kevin and David owners/managers; so welcoming honestly an amazing experience ❤️

We were lucky enough to discover this lovely little bar on new year's Eve. We were looking for somewhere to see the new year in after watching a concert at the Bridgewater Hall. The atmosphere was fantastic and they had a very talented drag queen on singing songs from the shows. Drinks prices good too. Definitely be back when next in Manchester.

This place is rolling down the hill since the pandemic. I have heard that the place is now run by a new management. That explains the decline. I have ordered my favourite cocktail with strawberries and black pepper and what I got was some weird mixure with not a single strawbery and no black pepper either. When I complaint I got strawberries added to my drink but I was told that the bar has no black pepper on stock. Really weird. Prices went radically up but the quality went radically down at this place. I can’t recommend this place anymore.

I popped in for a couple of drinks while on a short trip to Manchester and staying at a nearby hotel. The staff were very patient, friendly and courteous. The drinks were lovely and the bar was very cosy and had a nice ambience. I look forward to visiting again.

What a cute and clever idea for a gay bar. The place is devoted entirely to musicals both theatre and film. Video screens display scenes from movie musicals and theatre performances. Very creative cocktail list. Cozy atmosphere. Most interesting bar in the gay village. Staff friendly and attentive. Don't miss it!!

Having been a pretty regular customer of Oscar’s I’m going to leave a fairly honest review given the circumstances. Oscars was a nice bar with good atmosphere, it’s a basement bar that occasionally has live music and great staff. Unfortunately it’s fallen down. Due to recent conflict the bar had obviously gone through a moment of turmoil which it could have recovered from. The one star review below the recent five stars, speaks volumes, which are a note of its own given that the recent five stars appearing before a busy period are an unfortunate result of the owners friends. With the review from Scott Topping being in a very close relationship with the owner. Aside from that, I had to awkwardly sit and watch as the owner screamed inappropriately in the face of a staff member before dismissing her in a rather embarrassing manner on his part. This was along side working the bar while intoxicated overall leaving a bad vibe with our group. I have no doubt that Oscar’s will recover, I do believe the staff are good people, but the way the owners have been handling things as of recent comes across as unprofessional and frankly embarrassing. The price of the drinks are very fair and the cocktail list is impressive, as stated before the live acts are great and the staff are fun people, the newly made bar manager Scott is coping well with his new role and it’s good to see the staff grow. Despite the owners current decisions they are good people to have a conversation with and I highly recommend saying hello if spotting them. All in all, it’s a decent bar going through a rough period and making desperate decisions. I wouldn’t recommend the bar at the moment until it is more sorted out, though it’s events I would recommend booking a table and giving it a try! Be aware it is not wheelchair accessible.

Amazing bar in the village, Always a nice chilled atmosphere, it’s a lovely hidden gem! I’ve been numerous times and can confirm the cocktails are to die for, The bar staff and managers are the real heart of this place, always so welcoming and polite. Will be back soon!

My Partner and Me been coming here for a few years any time we have been in manchest and it was always nice but recently NOT ! can you believe that such a nice place has gone down fast last time there with friends I order a drink and it comes out horribly mixed and taste bad when the other Bartender Ben comes out and sees he happily remade it and apologised he was very talkative and nice but when I returned last week what I witness was dreadful and awful I found out that the bartender who clearly doesn’t even know what he is doing is the manager !! unbelievable only to see him constantly being rude to the staff it made us sick to our stomach and we left without finishing our drinks such a shame to hear that multiple original staff bullied good on benji for finding a new job shame it is how it is there for others looking for a good bar let me know would love recommendations thanks

Hidden down a discreet set of stairs off of bustling Canal Street is this charming, hidden gem. The drink menu is extensive, highlighting a wide and unique set of cocktails as well as some classics. The cocktails are named for classic Hollywood, and inspire a mood of old school speak easies. Throughout our visit joyful musical numbers played on screens around the bar. The staff were patient and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Always a great atmosphere and usually always seating free, even on a Saturday early evening. The non-alcoholic cocktail I got tasted great and was a very reasonable price

We had the most amazing time here. We were in Manchester for one night. My partner is an Oscars fan and we always like a place with good cocktails, so we decided to try. We were expecting to have a quick drink before heading back to the hotel and thought it would be quiet on a Sunday night, but we had a surprisingly good time. Paul Walker was there, an amazing singer and entertainer. The atmosphere was really welcoming and everyone was having a good time. The cocktails list is extensive and original and everything we tried was excellent! We'll come back next time we're in Manchester :)

On a one-night visit to Manchester, a city I've never been to before, I happened upon this place while searching the venues along Canal St. As an Oscars nerd, I was immediately intrigued and knew I had to at least stop by. I was not expecting to have such an amazing time! My partner and I happened to come by on the second Sunday of the month, which is when Paul Walker is there belting out show tunes and pop classics. The vibe is absolutely fantastic, warm and welcoming, while the cocktail menu is extensive, inventive, and eclectic. I don't have many must-visit bars in my life but this one is certainly on the list!

We overall love this bar and have been coming on and off for years. We first visited many years ago before they installed air con, and our complaint then was how warm it got when busy, the adding of the air con is brilliant. In recent days, we've become regulars. Where to start with the praise? Great vibe, musicals on the screens and lovely clean toilets. Lee, the doorman, is brilliant. A model bouncer and doorman. Last year, we unfortunately had an experience with a straight man who became aggressive to us and we told the bar staff who got Lee, whom proceeded to kick him out with 0 hassle to us and made us feel safe. This is our only bad experience in 5+ years of coming here as the place is great. The cocktails are inventive, delicious and bright to look at. Their new movie night Mondays is a great initiative and their changing boards of cocktails often based on musicals that have come to the city, are brilliant. The bar staff are so smiley, pleasant and love a laugh. One remembers my order every time which is special to us to be remembered. Our only complaint now, is that they're so busy some nights we never have anywhere to sit. But we're so happy they're full and business is booming!

Only been coming in a few months, but very quickly becoming my fave bar.. showtimes and great cocktails!! Sadly yet to make a monday film night, but I will soon attend.. Ben has been here on every visit, and what a wonderful bartender and person!! Very polite and clearly enjoys being here!! Always positive even though I’ve seen some tough evenings :) keep doing what you’re doing guys!!

Visited oscars last night and I can honestly say me and my friends loved it. Being musical theatre fans Oscars was the perfect place for us. Staff were really friendly and the cocktail menu is amazing. Hoping to go back again

A small but cozy bar in the heart of Manchester's canal Street and the gay village. It's an oscars and Hollywood movies themed bar with the decorations, music and the cocktails list. Amazing drinks. Great for a cocktail break while bar hopping around the area. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely amazing cocktail bar. Staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, I even asked for a cocktail not on the list and they made it. I cannot recommend this bar enough. Plus really good music, and a fantastic live singer on the Sunday night. If you're in the area go to this bar.

Popped in for a drink with my partner after a long day, and had the best negroni I've had since I moved to Manchester. The bar staff were also absolutely lovely, and clearly having a great time too. I'd give 6 out of 5 if I could!

One of the highlights of the village. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the bar is a really nice and welcoming space. Occasionally live cabaret music, often videos of musical theatre on the screens. Always a nice selection of drinks and generally just one of the places I prefer to visit.

Good cocktails at a reasonable price. Bar staff/security are very friendly and attentive! Sat outside on some lovely seats, only improvement I could suggest would be some music! They clean tables before and after each customer so very happy :)

Great service, well lit, I wish the sound of the music was louder and the toilets were closed off so you don't have to smell it if its particularly bad at that moment. Easily fixable things but overall a good time.

Great place to visit not to be missed

A really great bar, small - can get very crowded and very noisy. They pipe set scenes from every musical you can imagine through TVs in ornate picture frames. You can sing along to your hearts content whilst drinking cocktails with names like 'The Marry Poppins' - it's as gay as Christmas down there [the bar is underground] so warm up your singing voice - get down there and have a great evening.

The best bar on canal street by a mile. Music is fantastic (as long as you enjoy musicals) as is the service. I'd highly recommend the quiz night's (though reserve a table quickly). The only downside is that because of its size, it get busy very quickly.

Nice bar in the gay village. Mainly for men but there were a few women too. Inspired to cinemas and theatre the music and video are very selected or taken from musicals and cartoon. Original place where you can see than they cared of any single detail. Recommended

One of the only places in village that has any sort of market strategy and target audience that it sticks to! Love the vibe in this place. And it's friendly to bring your parents too as well! Not sure if they've got rid of the piano but the occasional time it was played it was brilliant. Love it in here and the bar staff are very handsome and helpful. Highly recommend if you are a fan of the musicals. Good mix of people and brilliant gin bowls! Love it x

Great place to have a good laugh, a sing-a-long and the best cocktails in town by a mile. The staff and customers alike, are really friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommended.

Cocktails and showtunes what's not to love

It's a fun bar that has a showtunes theme to it. TV screens are all over the bar showing clips after clips from famous (and some obscure ones too) musicals. Expect the crowd to break out into a song and dance when the famous ones comes on like Grease Lightning! The cocktails at the bar are gin and tonic based. Generally a fun and casual bar that has a positive friendly vibe.

Fast friendly and friendly service straight to you table and cheep

We popped in here last night for a few drinks. There was an "ACT" on, which we weren't aware of before hand. We weren't exceptionally loud but yes, we were talking whilst drinking our overly expensive drinks. The lady from the door came down and said people had complained and could be quieter during the 2nd half of the performance. We apologised and agreed that we would make every effort to not make excessive noise whilst they were on. Then before they act came back out, the barman came over and said the "act" were not comfortable coming back on while we were in the bar. And asked us to leave. The act was dreadful anyway, but that said, we didn't make a lot of noise during their performance. We were not drunk and are not rude so gave them the respect they deserved. But they really weren't up to much. This bar is the most expensive the in Canal Street and for some reason they think that just because they rip people off, that they can also treat them badly. Well they can't. They are outrageously pretentious. This bar is nothing special and they have no right to treat people the way they do. I wouldn't go here again if you paid me. A dreadful place and a dreadful experience. The only positive I could say is that the lady on the door was extremely pleasant when she spoke to us. Not the usual heavy handed manner that some of the door staff tend to have. All in all, A GREAT PLACE TO AVOID!!!!
