American Pies Mcr in Manchester

The food is good - a nice variation on the typical pizza formula! Very heavy but that's to be expected. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We showed up 16 minutes late (I checked the time as we went in) and were seated. We were then immediately un-seated and told we were too late and our seat had been given away. We had received no call or message warning us of this. The server was actually quite rude but eventually pointed at another table and told us we could sit there after insinuating we had no other options. Also when they brought out the bottle of wine, they had unscrewed it before bringing it to the table which felt wrong.

Started were great , focaccia Parma was smothered in pesto which overpowered everything , focaccia rib was beautiful except the pickled slaw which was also overpowering , pizza was lovely , if we had chosen different dishes could of been an easy 5*

Food was nice (I had the short rib with tots) but very pricey and took quite awhile to come. Paying over £30 for lunch with a couple of drinks and waiting 45 mins means it's not going to work as a regular lunch with colleagues kind of place.

Food was really good. Ultimately let down by the slow service and often felt the service staff were rude or at best distant and after waiting a while for food we were a little fed up. The plates and cutlery were also not the cleanest. Didn’t think it was that busy so not sure why it wasn’t the best it’s been hyped up to be.

Our server today could not have been more friendly and helpful , she is a credit to the American Pie Team, please pass on our positive experience with her , to her manager , she was exceptionally kinds . this was our first time at the new location but we weren’t quite as impressed by the quality or portion size of our meals today , as we were when we dined a the original restaurant , but again. We wanted to take the time to say how much we appreciated our server

OMG what can I say about this except scrumdidlyumptious! We had the sharing main, short rib so tasty & tender, ribs lovely packed with flavour, brisket lasagne was something else! Literally devine ❤️

Very nice! Pizza is very deceiving, couldn't finish it as it was very filling, but delicious.

Brisket doughnut and the cheeto stick were so sweet you couldn't really taste anything else. The pies are overrated, we got the spicey sausage which wasn't spicey and the crust had the texture of cardboard, wouldn't go back again. Service however was great and fast

Love the atompshere and decor. However the service was a little slow as it took an hour for our food to come. I like the sharing platter as it had a lot of variety and the cheese sticks were unique as it had carbonara inside and was deep fried. The main American pie was slightly overrated, the crust tasted stale? Not sure if that is what it is suppose to taste like.

Amazing food and drinks at awesome price.

The food appearance is much better than the taste! Don’t get me wrong, the food is absolutely good but probably not as good as the appearance. We ordered Korean BBQ short ribs, my favorite was the tater tots in this dish and Picante pizza and paid roughly £55 in total.

Nice atmosphere, pleasant service, awful food. The restaurant has a nice vibe inside; they’re going for that laid back, American sports bar vibe, and it works. Unfortunately the food is absolutely awful. The pizza was a tasteless, sloppy mess. It was like eating a huge biscuit with cheese and tomato caked all over it. Had two slices and called it quits. Kinda made me feel sick to be honest. Hey, maybe I’m just not a fan of Chicago deep dish, right? Well, sadly the starters were awful too. I swear my chicken parm was microwaved. Tasted very plasticky. £81 for two as well. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Delicious Chicago style deep dish pizza and loaded tots in a cool bar restaurant right in the heart of Ancoats. Friendly service and nice wines too. Great for an indulgent night with friends!

Really like the new location in Northern quarter. Our waiter came over immediately and asked if we had been before so he could explain the menu. Service was quick and courteous. I was disappointed to find they had taken doughritos off the menu but the food was still excellent! I had the buffalo chicken pizza pie and garlic butter tater tots.

Food was phenomenal and the interior was spectacular especially the toilets! Service could have watched tables a little bit better

Finally decided to try American Pies after lots of recommendations. We came on a Sunday without a booking but it wasn't very busy so it was easy to get a table for two. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered the classic pie and lamb birria garlic focaccia which came with garlic parmesan tater tots. The food was unfortunately underwhelming. Despite it saying 7" on the menu, I was surprised by how small the pizza actually was, considering it was also £13. The pizza itself was actually tasty though, I just wish there was more of it. The lamb birria focaccia had a good flavour but the meat was dry and it didn't come with any consommé or other sauce. The tater tots were nice and crunchy, but lacked flavour. Overall a bit of a disappointing experience but still glad I tried.

It’s not really all that. Was very busy inside, it was a bank holiday. Waited 51 mins for our food, 20 mins for drinks. The drinks were so basic you could taste the cheap lemonade and syrup… the food isn’t all that either. It’s actually very overhyped the only thing that was worth the hype was the cheese pull. Tator Tots were so overcooked and full of oil. The buffalo tenders were good. The pizza pie ain’t all that the pie is actually so hard and just tastes nasty. Customer service was really good, very nice waitress.

The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is lovely, we loved the look of the restaurant. Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down. We have been to Japes in London which also does deep dish pizza and it just doesn’t compare. The crust is too bland and the pizza isn’t well made. It’s fun and something different, but it wasn’t for us.

Excellent food, great service and atmosphere I’d highly recommend. The lovely manager dealt with a difficult situation with two customers in the toilets excellently despite their aggression, thank you!

WOW Amazing food and fantastic service. Sing 7inch Pizza makes you think you can have loads but we didn’t manage to finish it. It’s so filling and soooooo tasty . Hats off to the service it was spot on See you all soon

They want email, phone number, date of birth, address and pay just to book so they can get all your data. What a joke! I’ll find some other way of going.

First time visiting the new Ancoats site the service was really great and the venue is fab! The food - I hate leaving reviews but the food was lacking. We had the Brisket and the Short Rib and both were incredibly dry and lacking sauce. Hope it's just a glitch as previous times it's been fab but tonight sadly not :( Really recommend more sauce with both dishes. will return though as service was great!

This was our first time of going after reading the reviews and I can honestly say I am so glad I did book in here for my sons birthday it was everything I expected. The service was second to none our server couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. And the food was to die for. I have only given this rating for atmosphere because we visited on a tues lunchtime so it was very quiet but I can well imagine the buzz of the weekend or night vibe it would have.

5 stars all around, the cocktails were legendary, the food was amazing. Couldn’t fault it, left the restaurant full and satisfied. The staff were patient and polite.

Post cinema meal with friends Group size 6 10 minute walk from print works Order: spice sausage with hot honey, Korean ribs & garlic butter tots Portion size: more than enough! Food was delicious, atmosphere was relatively quiet with small groups of friends and coupled enjoying themselves. Staff were friendly and accommodating all the way through, didn’t get waitresses name though. Pricing looks like it could be a lot but me and my partner decided we would share, half of the pizza, half the ribs and half of the tots… with a drink each, and optional service charge came to £45. My partner even took one slice of pizza home.

The food overall is alright if you like deep dish but it's quite steep for the size. However it is satiating so I'd recommend a single pizza for two and a side. The wait is quite long as we've spent an hour inside before getting the food, which wouldn't be so bad if not for the uncomfortable chairs.

Small menu which I prefer as quality is usually better - in this case I'd say it is true. 3 of us dined in. Service was brilliant and food was amazing. 2 of us had beef short rib focaccia and 1 had a deep dish pepperoni pizza. Only downside was the tater tots that came with the short rib were a bit plain, they could have used some more seasoning like rosemary to just give it a bit extra. They did have other flavour options for tater tots that would account for this, but they were separate items on the menu and not sure if they can be substituted in - I should have asked. They don't do desserts which isn't an issue for me. The food there is rich and very filling that most people probably wouldn't be able to do a dessert afterwards anyway. Reasonably priced for quality of the food and service and we had a really nice time there.

the food from here is absolutely amazing and doesn’t break the bank either! the ribs are probably the best i’ve ever had and the portion sizes are super generous. our server was rachel and she was extremely helpful with the menu and even recommended the ribs to us. all of the staff who were in there were super friendly. will definitely be coming here again .. and again.

My, my, my, one hell of a pie!!! We had seen this establishment online loads, so on a recent visit to Manchester we gave it a try. The pizza pie is literally a pizza in the form of a pie. Exceptional crust, a very unique dish. Great cheese and the meats used on the pizza pies was really good. We had Pepperoni and lamb shoulder and both were outstanding! We had tater tots and a popper to go with it. We couldn't finish it all so took some with us. Great service and a smart little restaurant! 100% recommend this place and will 100% return!!

'American Pies' is a deep-dish pizza place off of St Peter's Square in Manchester. So, if you're a fan of Chicago Town, you will doubtlessly be in love with this place. However, before it became American Pies, the restaurant was known as 'Brewski'. Brewski is North American themed, and it serves the best burger I have ever had. But around the time of COVID, Brewski's owners decided to branch out into pizza. They then moved Brewski to a new site in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy (SW. Manchester). And then they founded American Pies at the original site on West Mosley Street. And to be honest, I would recommend either one of them for a happy hour social. The interior is bright and relaxed, with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides. The service is attentive. Most importantly, the food is absolutely incredible. Whilst the whole menu is fantastic, I do recommend three dishes for both: 1) The Boursin Balls - Deep fried balls of Gournay cheese in marinara sauce. 2) The Burgers - The burger menu changes often, but they're all outstanding. 3) The Poutine - It's basically cheesy chips in gravy. What's not to love? One word of advice if you're heading here is to book in advance. They fill up fast...

Quiet, but probably the best Pizza Pies in the north - loved it.

Went here tonight. Don’t be fooled by the small pizza size. They are very filling. A 7inch pizza I can easily eat that. How wrong was I?! I can polish off a large dominos on my own and these guys are leagues ahead. Totally recommend from me. Never felt rushed. 100% will be back when I’ve digested this one. Which may be in a week or two! Staff were great. Just the right level of service. Not overbearing or anything like that.

The service was incredible we arrived without a reservation and they managed to squeeze us in, the servers went out of there way to help up even when understaffed, couldn't be any more greatful. Food and service were excellent, only got 4 stars as it is expensive. Not necessarily the restaurant if their overheads are high, but it's not somewhere I can afford to go very often

All of the food we ordered was fantastic! I had the pepperoni pizza which was so filling I had to take some home (and have it for dinner the next day). The service was the best I have had in a restaurant - staff were super welcoming, attentive, friendly, and ensured we had a great meal! I would highly recommend and am likely to go again!

Great food and service but fed up with 'optional service charge' and 'donation' on the receipt and that awful feeling when you ask to have it taken off (on principal) not because the service wasn't good. If I want to tip, I will but I won't be made to feel like I have to. It soured what was a great meal.

We went here for the first time earlier this week and loved the food. It was all packed full of flavour. The service was great too and really friendly. We tried the deep dish garlic bread (with mozzarella), filo wrapped mozzarella lollipops, Korean short rib focaccia and the classic pizza pie (Margherita). All of it came to the table piping hot and looked stunning. The garlic bread and filo wrapped mozzarella were both packed full of flavour. The Korean short rib focaccia came to the table and I was trying to figure out how to eat it, as it is so big. I managed though and the meat just fell off the bone. It was packed full of flavour and the tater tots on the side were also full of flavour (coated in garlic). The pizza pie was nice too and we ended up taking some home as it was all very filling. We were offered a box for it without even asking and it even tasted great the following day. Highly recommend this place!

this food was AMAZING! wasnt the cheapest meal ever but so good! service was ok, we were waiting for a few of our group who were running late and most were there before the reservation time, but the server must have came over 5 times asking if we could send the menu to those not here to check what they wanted to order and chasing, the restaurant was very quiet so didnt know what the issue was! we also put on the reservation it was a birthday and nothing was even mentioned at all. So service needs some work!

Drove from Northampton to Manchester just to try the food and was not disappointed. The food came out at a steady pace, portions where larger than origanally thought but the quality of the food was phenomenal. Our server (Graham sorry if im mistaken) was great, very polit, proffesional and was always nearby when needed. The best dining experiance I have had in a long time.

The food is no doubt greasy and tasty, however I don't think that was a great value for money. With this being in the city center, similar pub grub can be found at more reasonable prices nearby, in my opinion. Having said that, if you don't mind about it - definitely go and you'll enjoy it. The short rib tater tots were nice.

Really great food. We had Chicken Caesar Tater Tots, Korean Beef Rib Tater Tots and Korean Beef Rib Sandwich (on foccacia bread) with Tator Tots and a Pepperoni and Jalepino deep dish pizza. The food wait time was approx 25 - 30 mins, but it was definitely worth the wait. The portion sizes were very generous. Each dish was very tasty. I would definitely recommend and will return. Suggest booking a table in advance as it does get busy and the place is only small.

Amazing food. I wish I could have tried it all! Though the deep dish pizzas are only 7", they are really filling. I'm no lightweight when it comes to food portions, but I only just finished the pizza!

Service is good but in my opinion this place is massively overrated. There’s lots of good pizza places in Manchester so in comparison the pies here are actually quite bland and boring. Clearly a lot of people enjoy it based on the reviews, but I think if you compare to places like Rudy’s and Ramona, the pies at American Pies are so disappointing. 1 toilet in the entire establishment is also not ideal and the menu online hasn’t been updated.

Seems like another one of these restaurants, very popular on insta, that didn't quite hit the mark for me. They go bigger, but the food isn't really better. Maybe they build your expectations up too much but I wouldn't jump to go back. Similar to other brewski outlets, alot of bark but very little bite.

My first time having Chicago deep dish so I can’t speak to its authenticity but it was delicious and would definitely go back to try other dishes as the wider menu looked amazing
