Great place with a nice vibe , friendly staff . Heard a lot about this place but unfortunately today it disappointed. We’ve ordered the buffalo chicken and personally irit didn’t hit . We’ll come back to try something different. Don’t let this review stop you from visiting this place

The pizza and sides were sooo good! Cheesiest pizza I've ever eaten. The service was great and a nice chilled atmosphere.

American Pies in Manchester brings a slice of Chicago to the UK with its deep-dish offerings. Their menu has quite a variety with not only pizzas but also typical American Italian food such as meatball sub, chicken Parm etc. Do note the kitchen takes a long while to make all these dishes but they are upfront about the wait time, and I appreciate that. We tried the Picante and Buffalo Chicken pizzas, and both delivered well on flavour. With generous cheese pulls and well-balanced toppings I would recommend these anytime. The crust, made from their garlic bread dough, added a unique taste but was slightly dry for my preference as it did feel more like a pie crust. The restaurant's atmosphere blends the casual feel of an American quick-service spot with the comfort of a pub, creating a relaxed dining environment. For those curious about deep-dish pizza, American Pies is a solid choice to experience in Manchester.

Went for some food as was the vibe for a rainy day . The starters were really tasty , service was fast and good . The only down side was neither could finish the mains and they was crazy salty so left them but would go back to try more starters. Price point was a little questionable

It's a difficult thing to review, as it's my first experience of deep dish pizza. However, I left the place genuinely gutted. The building is nice and the staff are very pleasant and attentive, but the food just isn't. Imagine a very greasy, oily, bad quality takeaway pizza, (the type you'd get from a 3am kebab place) put into a heavy stodgy bowl of bread. As another reviewer pointed out, they're highly photogenic so go down very well with the Instagramers, but once you start eating it you feel like you wish you hadn't. They're layered with so much cheap tasteless cheese they taste of...nothing. I just know that a proper Chicago deep dish pizza wouldn't be flavourless. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so expensive either. £13 for a 7" and £25 for a 10". Bear in mind that normal pizza sizing goes out the window, as these things are stacked high rather than spread out. Still though, £5 for a small warm can of Camden Hells, and a 12.5% service charge plus another carbon offset charge. To summarise, good for taking hipster Insta' pictures of (notice that all positive reviews have faux artsy pictures attached to them) bad for actually eating.

Came across this place on our way to a gig. A very happy accident, really enjoyed the food! Plus a good pint as well.

Personally just not for me, wanted to try the concept, far too much cheese, was revolting and 18 pounds for a pizza pie! So dissatisfied, total waste of my money unfortunately, some people may like it, really dont understand why this place is allowed to serve such revolting food, the pizza pie is literally crust and cheese, and toppings ontop, worst place ive ever been for food!

Amazing food, great cocktails, larger location

We had an order delayed and they refunded the whole thing and brought us some extra free wings, really lovely service and the food was fantastic.

I’ve honestly not tasted anything so yummy and cheesy before! I don’t live local, but me and my boyfriend have a rule that we are allowed to cross over from Yorkshire every 6 months to have a date night here. The food is such high quality and so tasty. We’ve tried all sorts coming here such as deep fried lasagne, pizza pies, garlic balls, chorizo and all of it is mouth watering. It’s a bit pricy but worth it as a treat. Plus if you can’t finish it all, you get to take a takeaway box home

Another restaurant i found out from a food blogger! So naturally, we had to try everything! The staff was super friendly. Not judging us for the amount of food we ordered 😅 The food i felt was very americanesc but not stereotypically so. The Chicago style pizza is amazing well worth the try, and the lasagne was another fav of ours! Totally would recommend this place to anyone! (Except maybe those on a diet)

Shown on Google as open at 12 but actually on the table qr as 1230. Wasted 30 minutes. Pizza was good 8/10. Beautiful area to eat a pizza outside on a sunny day though

Good location, central and in one of the quieter districts. Food was not extraordinary considering the reputation built online, interesting concepts of pies (deep pan pizzas). Be prepared to eat a lot of cheese. Atmosphere was expected, busy and noisy. Not a restaurant youd want to spend anymore time than getting the food and getting out. Feel like now that it’s done and been visited, I won’t need to go back. Drinks and food will easily take you over the £30 pp mark.

I've eaten a lot of pizza in my time, and this to be one of the best! I had the goats cheese one and my wife had the Margarita one, and both were brilliant, only made better with the hot honey. We shared some arancini to start which was also really good. The service was friendly, and overall feel of the restaurant was pleasant, although a little quiet when we arrived.

Visited Brewski so had to try this place. Wow, loved it. Food, atmosphere, location, staff just brilliant. Will absolube back, the Pies are outstanding..

We really enjoyed our meal at American Pies. The restaurant really gave those American vibes with the decor and bar design. The food was really delicious and we really appreciated Ryan’s help going through the menu and also placing our order - telling us if we had over ordered or not! The food came out hot and really tasty - we recommend the mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings and pepperoni deep dish (make sure to add the hot honey). Thanks again Ryan for the great service - we will be back!!

This was the first try at the new location and yes the food was good but I don’t think it was as good as the old place as the pie last time was tastier and the crust softer so it may just be a one off but I was a little bit disappointed this time, will try again when next in Manchester

Seen this on tik tok, looked really nice expecially the short rib. The short rib was no longer on the menu when we went which was fine. We choose a few dishes to share some of the food was okay but wasn't half as good as it was advertised to be. Barely any meat in the brisket sub, no cheese pull on the motzerlla, the pizza was good but we got double peperoni and there was no double about it. The chicken wings was good. Definitely over hyped and over priced for what we got. Won't be going back although the garlic potato tots was lovely!

I got a brisket sub/ baguette cheese stick in which with hardly any meat at £18 deverstated after you tube videos portraying this as a meat lovers paradise. Just bought same sort thing from fat pats at least 4 x as much meat and half price of said above

Very cool place. Lots of Americana in places like restrooms which enhanced the vibe. Staff was super friendly and very attentive. Lasagna was one of the bestbthings I've ever had.

Disappointed overall. The tots were nice but not really worth 5 quid. I went solely to try the pizza, someone else described it perfectly. Bland and biscuit like. The dough is strange like a short crust pastry done badly. Glad I tried it but wouldn't travel again for it. Can See Rudys from the front door. I'd go there. Not worth £55 at all.

The food is fine and even though I visited during the day when it was quiet, I can imagine there being a really good atmosphere when it's busy. However, the service I had was very poor. The first person (a female) who greeted me was excellent, very enthusiastic and polite, but the second person who came over (a male) was rude and uninterested. Unfortunately, he was the one who brought the food and drinks over, failing to mention the extremely long wait time even though it was quiet. There was no apology, no explanation or anything and even though I was planning to ask where the food was, the obvious lack of interest in being helpful just made me think "why bother?" I've been to Americam Pies before and had a great time but the poor service left a sour taste in my mouth, excuse the pun. The high cost, service charge and rude service is, sadly, why I feel compelled to write this review. I can take bad customer service when buying a pasty in a rush, but not at somewhere charging so much and failing in the basics.

Attending here for my sisters birthday and it was the most amazing experience! Emily, Nathan and Ollie were amazing and made the experience so much better! The pizzas were the best we have ever had and I cannot recommend this place more

Lovely little place, comfortable and good food :)

We were welcomed and served by great staff. We were pleased to see our favourite beer Jute on the menu. The highlight of the menu was the pizza sauce. The food was tasty if not a bit stodgy and not quite worth the price tag. Still an enjoyable meal out though.

Went here for dinner. and happy to say, the food's great. Saw pictures of places in Chicago, USA hanging on the wall, love how the interior looks, very lovely decorated. We got the Chicago Deep Dish - Italian Beef, Bourbon BBQ Ribs ( Half Rack), and Salt & Pepper Wings with Chili and Spring Onion. Decided at the last minute to get a meal here at night, and ended up really enjoying the time at American Pies Mcr. All 3 plates we ordered were delicious and perfectly made. Thank you very much for the great food and service.

Great food, reasonably priced and superb service.

Has captured the American bar style very well and the service was good. Pies were very tasty but described as 'decepitevly filling' which they weren't. Sides were bland and the rigatoni was just weird.

Simple idea but unreal taste! Brie parcels and chorizo bites were incredible. Buffalo chicken pizza pie was incredible also

STAFF NEED TRAINING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE I live just around the corner and visit this place frequently. Today the service was TERRIBLE. Got there and was waiting to be seated. The host/waiter came over and received us very rudely. He didn't even look at my face, answered the phone while I was asking for a table and didn't even bother to hear what I was saying. He simply cut me off while I was speaking saying that he "already knew what I was going to ask" and almost kicked me out of the restaurant. No, you don't know what is in my mind. My father that is visiting was with me and was taken aback by that. I was so ashamed. I feel like not going back there ever again. Please, STAFF NEED TRAINING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE URGENTLY!!

We popped in for lunch today and although it was quite the waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable. She explained the menu and the waiting times for the pizza. The pizzas were extremely cheesy and very tasty. If you have the time to wait for lunch/dinner this is definitely a place to visit!

The food here was really disappointing considering the hype and cost. It was very much instagram vs reality. There is much better pizza in Manchester for a fraction of the price. However, the waiter was extremely kind and attentive.

Wonderful food completely let down by the worst service I’ve had in the city for a while. Less than 50% capacity - 3 servers and a 120 minute evening because of how long food took (45 minutes from order) and how long it took for us to have a check handed to us (35 minutes) after we finished our meal. Horrific.

Clean nice house but food was sickly and far too limited pizza menu

Fine dining it ain't... but why would you come here expecting that?! Delicious super cheesy pizzas - we got the Italian platter too. Fyi Italian platter, 2 pizza pies and 2 portions of wings is FAR too much food for 4 people but happily they do doggy bags so we got to enjoy leftover dinner the next day 😋 well worth a visit

I can't rave about this place enough. I visited this business a couple of years ago in their old site and was really impressed. I was passing through Manchester again recently and thought I would take some people along with me to try it. I love the atmosphere of the new premises and the food beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

Such a shame. Been following these guys on insta for a very long time and was buzzing to finally visit. Food looked amazing. Ordered the Brie parcels, onion loaf, short rib and tots and a side of tots. Everything bar the side of tots was luke warm at best. The inside of my Brie parcels were actually stone cold. I was so disappointed. Food came out way too fast and I guess this is why. They clearly didn’t cook anything for long enough. Gutted

I've been a few times. Everything is genuinely amazing, except for the pizzas. Which for a pizza restaurant isn't good. The staff, venue, starters, cocktails etc all superb. But the pizza itself let the meal down each time. I see what is trying to be achieved, but it's more like a really dry quiche base than an America-style pizza pie. Adding cheese into the base doesn't change that.

Food was ok althought spicy, which the menu did not mention, so I couldnt enjoy it or finish it...service was terrible. Was in there for 2 hours, literally only had a main and 1 drink. It was impossible to get any service from waitress. All desserts bar 1 were not available. Worst birthday meal I've had.

Terrible standard of food the short ribs were dry seems liked they were cooked days ago and re heated I know cause I’m a chef. The potatoe tots are pre made frozen crap they taste more like crisp from the Aldi. But t was all just average I complained and got 20% of but I left 80% of the food and had to go else where to get fully awful experience I’m not your average diner but this is below average food. Stay clesr!

I had high hopes for this place after watching many influencers on YouTube talk about this place but unfortunately I was very disappointed. We got the short ribs and pulled pork and both meats were dry and they were lacking a sauce. The flavor was average as well. Overall just underwhelming. The only nice thing was the Brie parcels from the starters. Even the cocktails were bad, I had a margarita and I could taste the cheap low quality alcohol they’ve used, I had to return it. I would avoid this place

An absolutely fabulous 👌 restaurant and had the best all round experience. Table was ready when we arrived, staff were friendly attentive and happy to answer questions. Very reasonable price for the quality of food and size or portions was very good. Drinks were great....loved the Staropramen and my daughter enjoyed the cocktails A highlight of our trip and if am staying in Manchester again this place will be high on my list

I always always have mixed thoughts about this place, concept is perfect. Manchester does need more American style food and restaurants.. however if you’re going to be doing Chicago deep dish I would recommend doing more research on how to do it properly. The videos I see of real Chicago deep dish look nice and soft, filled to the brim and the cheese is perfect whereas with your version it’s more quiche like and hard, cheese isnt the correct style for what it should be and most importantly the marinara should be smooth not lumpy and it also should cover the whole top of the pie. Moving on from the pizza, the sides and other dishes are always top notch, way too big and fumbley to eat but really tasty. Personally I hate tater tots, I think you should have home fries instead. Congrats on the new venue that’s a good move, the more space was definitely needed.

I have never eaten a better new york style pizza in Manchester. Wow this place is so so so good. If you love deep dish or pie pizza, you have to come here and eat The service is a bit slow as compared to other joints, but i think that is because the pie pizzas take more time to prepare The beer menu is quite limited Its pocket friendly place. Plz book in advance as this place is mostly full.

First off just look at my previous reviews; I don't do bad ones, but this was just the worst. I booked here for my partners birthday, based on previous reviews and the Instagram. I genuinely believe our experience could have been close to 5* if we were sat 3 tables down, which emphasises just how bad our service from this individual was. The start was promising; we got a voucher for my partners birthday that entitled her to a free drink. Nice touch and unexpected. We waited a while to get a drinks order, and then an even longer while to get a food order, mainly due to our server being on her phone or talking to the bar staff. At this point we were then told the thing i wanted was out of stock. Wouldn't have been a major dilemma, but the fact that the table next to me got it (having ordered 10 min prior, and we could've ordered straight after but server decided to go to talk to another waitress) showed that the only reason i didn't get it was down to the slow service. That's annoying, but then would not really be a game changer, was just in my head that we should've been informed prior. Food was ok. The annoying bit for my partner was she asked for no chilli in her meal, and was not told about any spice etc that would remain, so couldn't really finish hers (more of a pallet issue, but again no real guidance from server). I had the beef chilli, which was OK, but when watching the table next to me eat the meal i really wanted and would've got if my server was quicker was a bit underwhelming and tbf lacking actual meat, was just kidney beans really. No check back at all, and when we finished our meals, there was no check how things were, was just silence and snatching away of plates. We were not offered dessert menus either, had to ask another server for that after 10 minutes. This is after having to chase our server for drinks as well, as she was too busy talking to anyone other than guests, and would rather be on her phone. When we had the dessert menu, after asking i was told by the new server that they only lacked cream for sundaes. 10 minutes later, our original server ran over to tell us that actually there was only one dessert left due to "a busy day". Like i get a busy day affects stock levels, but when you've been negligent all through, and we've only lost out on meals for you being preoccupied talking or being on your phone, it's frustrating. We decided not to get a dessert, and then waited a while to track our server down to get the bill. We then waited another 15 minutes to get said bill as she wandered to the kitchen, or the bar, or the front door, anywhere other than actually getting the bill. She then saw me getting agitated, and said she'd get it, before not actually getting it, choosing to talk to a table not in her section. We had another server give it us, and the only reason i gave a service charge was because it was already added and felt this guy didn't deserve the awkwardness of me asking to take it off. I paused when he asked and said yeah, and nothing was said about it, it's like they know the service was poor, but just didn't want to bring it up. Credit to the original server though; she remembered to say goodbye... more than expected from previous showings. The server on the other section seemed really quick, attentive and chatty. I reckon if we had him, we'd have had the meals we wanted, got drinks when needed, and been happy. But no, we were dealt with a woman who just didn't seem to care, and what should have been a nice celebration ended up being a rush to get out. Chefs, you have a tough job, and i appreciate your efforts, it's the servers that have let you down

I'd been wanting to eat here for ages and actually planned a trip to Manchester specifically for it and I was not disappointed. Food was absolutely exceptional. Staff were great; really friendly, courteous and attentive. Will absolutely visit again

So bloody good! The food, service, atmosphere—everything was so good. Emily B was our server and she was great 🙂 Really recommend going. My only point, and it's not losing any stars, is that it would make life much easier to note what's vegetarian and that it's a vegetarian "parmesan." We very nearly didn't come because of this, and I had to call several times before someone answered and I found out there were vegetarian items. I'm so glad we did because I would have hated to miss out!

Food was awful, nothing like what it looks on social media - sickly, tasted awful, frozen pizzas and dough balls (undercooked), Boursin starter inedible. The service wasn’t great either, barely said a word to us the whole time we were there

The staff were lovely, the beef short rib loaded tots where 10/10 but the pizza was a little disappointing. I wasn't a fan of the dough itself but that could be a personal thing as I've never had an authentic American pizza pie before so I can't really comment on how authentic it tastes and if I'd like the real thing. However I do feel like there was a lack of cheese and a surplus of sauce that didn't help. I would 100% skip the garlic dough balls as they are pretty expensive for what you get, and they were a little dry. The place is a little expensive but the quality of the meats etc is 10/10, if you get anything youve gotta try the short rib. I think it's a place worth trying but I don't think we'd go again. Staff again were lovely and couldn't fault them and the drinks were fantastic, would recommend the salted caramel martini and the maple old fashioned.

I turned up at 8:48pm to be told the kitchen is shut even thought you can book a table until 9pm. I actually travelled from nottingham to manchester to try this place and ordered a £12 uber to get here so very disappointed that they couldnt accommodate us considering lots of others were still dining. Very disappointed.

Great food and amazing service from Ryan!

Slow service, waited for one pizza for more than 30’ and the place was like half full. The pizza was very yummy and we liked the atmosphere. However be aware that they add two optional charges to the bill - “carbon friendly dining” and “service charge” makes the total higher than in other similar places. Would definitely return for a nice pizza but I don’t think it’s going to be our “default” pizza place.
