Was working outside for the day . Me and my team was well looked after by the hosts . Free coffees and use of facilities .much apreciated and would recommened anyone to visit this place.

Food was mixed some tasty (florentine and shakahuka) some only fine (breakfast burritos). Cappuccino terrible - burnt and not frothy. Very unclean - table sticky, high chair disgusting, toilets extremely dirty with no hand soap. When we told the staff they barely cared and it didn’t appear that anyone had gone to put hand soap in there 30 mins later. Even if the food is quite nice - there’s no excuse for bad hygiene.

Sadly l wouldn't return. I ordered eggs florentine on GF bread. The spinach was so salty and grainy, (like it hadn't been washed and had soil in it!) The GF bread roll had cleary been burnt but it was served anyway and was incredibly difficult to cut. My poached eggs were undercooked with the white parts still raw. My partner had a vegan breakfast that he said was just OK. I was so disappointed l actually got my money back for mine, something I've never asked for before. The service was pretty poor.... the lady who brought out our food seemed disinterested and miserable , the young man serving at least had a smile but all in all the service was non existent really. I won't return.

Food generally nice, breakfast was really good, though toast soggy and the halumi dry. Little squished my my liking but atmosphere was nice and dog friendly.

Amazing bar/cafe, good for breakfast as well as some drinks 12pm onwards! Our favourite go to in Chorlton! Only personal suggestion which would make it much better for me as a cider drinker, would be to change over from the Hogans Cider - Aspall and I’d be there everyday!

i’ve went here two times before this i ordered eggs benedict today the egg was over cooked they forgot to give me sauce i was given one slice of toast the other two came late i take a bite out of one of them BURNT AS HELL get rid of that new chef because they clearly dont have the talent to be one

It's a lovely place, great beer selection but a recent lunch left us a little disappointed. Deep fried chicken burger and lack lustre accompaniments took the shine off what used to be a really good eatery. But then again, they are recruiting for a new chef!

Great place inside and out plus they have Victoria Malaga beer. Food good too.

25/04/24: Shindigger: Mango Unchained 4.2% 27/06/23: not much has changed although the atmosphere was better this time. We enjoyed the Milk Stout and Schoffenhofer: Watermelon & Mint radler.Sat inside whilst the weather was a little temperamental. Archie (not related) enjoyed his lunch! 08/01/22: quite disappointed with service from Mary & Archie. Had hoped for good things. Was quite busy when we arrived, but a few tables inside and a good few around the side as we entered. Whilst looking at the Craft Ale board, we were told to sit down and order via the QR code. Within a few seconds whilst still trying to decide on what craft ale to have someone else then said to take a seat. We did. Outside. Scanned the QR code and what I'd chosen wasn't on the list. Tried to catch the waitreses eye, but she averted gaze and carried on serving towards the entrance. We order a quick half of a different drink and moved on. Heating outside is potentially good, but only 2 buttons to turn on the infrared lamps. Each table should have a button, as opposed to one button servicing 3 heaters on the left and the other button for the 3 heaters on the right. Approximately 10 covers at the side and as table were quite close together, it would have been rude to keep asking someone else to press it. Our drinks took a little time to come, but tasted great. Service was terrible, rushed and too busy to welcome nee guests. The craft ale board looked quite good, but not represented on the QR menu, which also failed to load initially. As part of the Chorlton Ale Trail, I'd probably overlook here next time amd put it down to a cafe, as opposed to a craft ale stop, where good service and sampling is a must.

Great service from Drew today. I really liked colourful and creative crockery selection he picked for me. Put a big smile on my face thank you!

A lovely bar and lovely staff, spoilt by the manager or owner (?!) He went out of his way to undermine the other staff, including talking over them/for them when they were dealing with customers. All in a passive aggressive manner. Very unprofessional. Expecting the staff under him to work on their break but making it clear he was NOT to be interupted during his -"see you in an hour!" (He shouted twice) and then proceeded to sit on edge of the bar to eat is meal whilst lecturing staff before his important vape session. We were not impressed and other customers looked uncomfortable picking up this weird vibe also. It's a shame.

Lovely little place family friendly n nice choices of beverages

Another of the cashless society cafés, which won't accept cash which is perfectly legal tender here in the UK (at time of writing this). I went in with a friend for coffee and hot chocolate and were told to find a seat and wait for someone to come and take our order. After our very simple, two drink order was made, we had to wait for a lot longer than it should take to make two simple drinks, which were lukewarm when they finally arrived. We then had to pay by card, as they do not accept perfectly legal cash in this brown-nosing the New World Order, café. We won't be coming back!

Great food. Lovely ambience. Dog friendly. Brilliant staff. What more is there? Edit for another visit - had the 'new' Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. I had lamb (tiny portion though the veg/gravy/etc was fine) and disappointing for £17. My wife, however, had the veggie (mushroom and something, I think) wellington - for £14 - and it's not home made, just something one might buy in Iceland for £1.50. Bit of an insult really. If you're going to start marketing a Sunday lunch, it might as well be decent quality and value for money. Is vegetarianism a new concept? Edit (again) following the response: There's no way the mushroom wellington my wife had was homemade (I wish I'd taken a photo). It was a uniform square shaped pastry, very similar (as I've said) in shape and size to something bought from a supermarket. Really, why would you make them so, given creative licence?!! As for bringing inflation into the argument - well, £17 for a small roast seems very much post-inflation rise, to me. Regarding the 'great' feedback you've had - perhaps some aren't as discerning when it comes to food and will happily sit and be grateful. And your chef's work tirelessly? Give over - surely just the hours they're remunerated for? I'm usually very effusive with positive feedback when it's deserved and normally baulk at leaving anything negative. In this case, I just felt I should do so, in the hope that rather then make lame excuses you might see it as a reason to improve? Perhaps?

The food would have been so much better if it was hot. It was lukewarm and we didn't have enough time to ask them to heat it up as we were off to the cricket. However, the service was fab as were the staff. Great outdoors atmosphere and inside was chilled and fab too. I will definitely return and think the food was a one off as I have heard nothing but good reviews

Garden really nice. Had to come inside at 11 where there was great music. The staff were absolutely great.

Fab outside seating with cushions. Recommend veggie kebab flatbread with halloumi and lemoncello spritz - very unique.

Good service and nice cocktails

This bar is a very authentic bar/restaurant which, if you are around; you should go to. They have a wonderful selection of drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks) and with a nice foundation, which it has, it serves a great spot to stop in the local area. We had drinks and food, both of which were good and also were complemented with a friendly atmosphere, which welcomes guests and makes you feel at home. For starters, we had houmous which was smooth and creamy along with nice bread. Additionally, we had the salt and pepper deep fried cauliflower which was booming with flavour and in terms of cookery, it spoke to the customer a good start to what could be a great meal. For mains, there was the aubergine burger, which is often something to be afraid of in the case of mushy aubergine which doesn't hold its shape and turns into a metaphorical mud pile of a burger. However, this burger was not that. The aubergine was crispy, and everything complemented eachother. I had the chicken burger which was crispy and cooked well. One very important thing, that this restaurant did, was seasoning the flour which would dredge the chicken. This allowed for a very good flavour and didn't make the pickled overpower everything else. The tacos that were served were very good, with a good balance of everything in the dish. However, there was a fair amount of residual oil left over. Along with this, the pickled cucumber could have been fresh if I were to be pedantic which meant that the dish, with a few tweaks can be a delicious dish. Finally, a lamb wrap. This was well formulated and well executed and flavours worked well overall so no complaints there. Overall Mary & Archie is a very good bar to stop if you are in the area; with very good service and our waitresses were absolutely lovely. The foods great, and the atmosphere aswell which makes this a good find. Also family friendly and holds quizzes on some days. Photos down below :)

Chicken burger was flavourless and dry. Service left a lot to be desired. I understand they were busy but the fact we had to go up and speak to them on 4 different occasions to receive basic things you would expect made the whole experience frustrating. Items we ordered didn't arrive even after enquiring and eventually had to ask for a refund, no apology given.

Not the most welcoming and no flexibility in the menu. Once ready to order service was reasonably quick and friendly. I think they were short staffed at the time as they seemed a bit stressed.

Went for a Sunday dinner a couple of weeks ago… it was okay and no complaints really other than had to ask for more gravy which is absolutely fine. What ruined our experience was the lady behind the bar/waitress. From what I can remember of her she had reddish hair, tattoos, piercings and was on the larger side… she didn’t smile once, she sneered at us and other customers… when we politely thanked her as we were leaving she didn’t even look up at us. She had no name tag or anything but I would look into the staff you’re employing at front of house as it can negatively impact peoples experience if the person who’s supposed to be giving good customer service is rude and moody.

We were really disappointed with the food and the service here, not worth the price, plenty of better places around Chorlton- would not recommend.

My first and NEVER AGAIN visit. RUDE stuff, and EXTORTIONATE prices, for lousy food and unproportonate size & content of dish to its price: £14.50 for an unappetising burger which I left whole and untouched. £2.50 for 1/3 avocado, sliced. £4.00 for a bunch of leaves they call 'salad'. I doubt that the stuff will even pass my written note to the manager, who wasn't even available to speak to.

Despite calling to say we waned Sunday Roast n would have a 17 month old with us, when we arrived we were informed Sunday Roast didn't start for another hour. Breakfast was OK but very pricey. Got our order wrong despite hardly being busy. Not so impressed

Been our local for years. We appreciate prices have gone up but now £14 for burger & chips. Possibly a chef change but now served on a smaller oval plate with no salad (coleslaw) which costs relatively nothing. Plus the burger wasn't as good. Perceived value down the drain. We are not the only 1's complaining so I hear. You lost our custom either way.

Nice atmosphere. I like the new items on the menu, our party all had a pasta dish and all were good. Makes a nice change from burgers and chips. Beer good, service fast. I am so good at using QR codes now

Went for a roast here over the weekend, wasn't impressed. Was hoping the beef would come pink however the only thing pink was my inflamed gums after chewing it for several minutes. The Yorkshire pudding couldn't make its mind up wether it wanted to be stale or soggy and the parsnip mash tasted like LSD.

We used to love this place but the last couple of experiences have been disappointing. The food is now really overpriced and everything is extremely salty. Have you changed your chefs? How can you expect to stay in business if your prices are increasing 5 times faster than people's wages? Sorry but after 7 years of being our Chorlton go-to bar we won't be back - a 50% price increase on the price of your burger and chips for rubbish quality equals no deal.

I had a bad experience with the piece of dessert that I ordered that will make me think twice before I visit the café again. The so called brownies of the menu was a piece of hard/overcooked brownies, solid rock and too sweet. I would not recommend it for a coffee and cake place.

Had a chicken wrap minus the wrap on account of gf intolerance. Often, meals ‘adapted’ as gf are the original with a big and obvious part missing. Not so at M&A! Somebody bothered to provide a thoughtfully deconstructed meal. Much apreesh whoever did it. It was actually delicious, thank you. No photos, I ate it all!!

Food was nice, a bit pricey for what it was but it was tasty and they had a nice selection. The staff there really weren’t great though. I called ahead to ask if they were open and the woman snapped at me over the phone as if it was a stupid question to ask (even though it was the day of the Queen’s funeral) then when we did arrive the kitchen was closed for another half an hour (which she’d neglected to mention when I’d called) and there were no menus left even though the place wasn’t full. Service was generally really slow, the kitchen was closed past when they originally said and the staff just seemed very grumpy whenever we interacted with them. At one point I was trying to calm down and feed my very excitable one year old when the waitress came over with my drink and asked if it was for me, I immediately said “oh yes please” she put the drink down and literally a second later she passively aggressively said “thank you” and walked away. I had every intention of thanking her I literally just needed a moment to stop my baby tipping everything on the table over, I just didn’t think there was any need for that kind of attitude. Wouldn’t go back.

Great bar with good selection of beers and the food is great and good choice. They are back doing Sunday roasts and they are superb had the roast beef, cooked to perfection. Side of cauliflower cheese was amazing, it's not the cheapest but it's worth the money.

Ordered food that didn't arrive for 40 mins. When it did come it was lukewarm, probably been sat around for 20 minutes or so. Food was of average quality for £16 a course. Probably wouldn't recommend

It was good. Small quite but has a really nice. My only critism is that the food wasn't hot, more luke warm. But it still tasted good so I didn't complain.

We were looking for a local place for Sunday lunch and came across this place online and decided to give it a go as the reviews were excellent. It was a bonus that you do not have to book in advance, you simply turn up and it's first come first served. The beef Sunday roast was excellent! Pure perfection on a plate...generous serving of perfectly cooked meat with amazing and tasty trimmings as well. The peas, brocoli and leek were so delicious and don't get me started on the mash. They also have a great selection of beers, wine and spirits. The cherry on top? It was very reasonably priced too and we got a table straight away. We'll be back for sure!

This was only my second visit whilst visiting friends in the area. There is nothing wrong with the place, but I had the same food as last time and the sweet potato fries have had something added that they didn't need, some sort of spice.

Had the house burger, delicious, loved it. Good beer as well. Also had the loaded nachos I believe they were called, surprisingly good. Home made, hand made nacho's I believe. Truly delicious. And the french fries that I had with my burger, were much above the average chips that you get at most places. I recommend it.
