The food and service at The Orrery are always exceptional. I highly recommend this charming restaurant on Marylebone High Street.

Simply sublime. Wine perfectly chilled and delicious and wonderfully flavoured food. A real treat.

Feels like you’ve entered a restaurant in the 70’s in terms of food. The restaurant was dead on a Saturday lunch and absolutely no ambiance! All good reviews must be fake reviews!

Loved dining here and the experience I got for my birthday. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The food was 10/10 flavour and presentation. I had the duck ravioli starter which was in a broth. The duck in the ravioli was more of a duck mince that shredded or pieces. The broth was nice and the pastry complimented it well. The artichoke risotto was also very nice, slightly oily but very tasty. It was cheesy and slightly tangy. Very filling as well. The birthday plate with the chocolate truffles was a nice touch too. The truffles were incredibly delicious. The inside was creamy and had a rich chocolate filling.

Lovely lunch at Orrery. Good service from Jonty, Mathieu and the team. Seafood raviolo as good as always. I ordered the veal chop for main. Excellent flavour, very tender, but a large portion. No room for dessert. Excellent choice of wines by the glass. Solid cooking. Great service. Highly recommended

And for a birthday dinner early Jan as a couple. It was £550 for two tasters and wine flight. The star rating was a combination of a few things. The restaurant was decorated when grey sterility was in, it now feels cold and a bit soulless. The menu predictably boring. Food nice and well cooked but just predictably blah, nothing of interest. Premium wine flight nothing was particularly spectacular or even old. Some had run out and replaced with generics. Wine two had zero flavour whatsoever and despite mentioning this it was just blanks stare. Staff were generally attentive and good though confused by each other at times. To top it off, 14.5% service charge. Wouldn’t return.

Orrery, a modern take on classic French dishes by Chef Igor Tymchyshyn. The restaurant is located in converted stables that date from the 19C. Ambience is a bit dull. A choice of tasting menu and à la carte selection. The food was well balanced beautifully presented.

Great place for special occasions. Service was very attentive and polite. Delicious food however I feel like rice in my risotto was slightly undercooked but it still tasted delicious. Only ‘mistake’ I would point was giving us bellini instead of a glass of champagne as requested during the booking but it didn’t impact our lunch overall :)

I took my partner here for his 50th. It was an absolute shambles. When booking the restaurant I notified them I have an allergy to chillies. When picking items from menu, I ask which dishes I could eat & explain I have allergy to chillies. We waited ages for starters to arrive. My partner's starter finally came & the waiter informed me the starter I ordered had chillies, plonked the menu infront of me to indicate I had to pick another dish. Meanwhile, my partner picked at his starter which was cold & underseasoned. We didn't say anything as I was already having difficulty with the waiter; I asked which starter could I have, i.e. didn't have chillies? He told me, "wait," marches off & comes back after quite a while & says, "we can offer you goats cheese & beetroot but it's off menu." An age later, he brings out a bowl of beetroot, slams on the table & marches off. I call him back & ask "where is the cheese?" He says, "it has chillies, so all we can offer you is beetroot." I ask, "all your cheese has chillies??" He marches off, comes back with a side dish of 2 slices of goats cheese & a side bowl of yoghurt. Clearly its "build your own starter" day at Orrery. We wait an age for plates to be cleared & for mains to arrive. My partner had ordered steak. The waiter had advised him, "chef recommends having it medium rare." Chef clearly forgot their advice, as it was well done, a skin formed on the sauce & served cold. I'd ordered duck & was advised that it's served pink... yet it was brown & tepid, served with cold vegetable sides. We sent the steak back which made our already aloof waiter advance into hyper avoidance mode. I was given a free glass of wine by another kinder waiter, in an attempt to pacify the situation. My partner had to ask for a drink though and it wasn't free of charge. Partner's steak arrives, by which time I'd finished my main, my dishes were cleared & we were ignored for a long while. Aloof waiter finally clears partner's plates & takes dessert order. Chocolate for him, panna cotta for me... wait for an age. The afternoon shift has finished, another waiter starts ironing tablecloths on the table in front of our table. He set up the ironing directly in front of us to prove his distain of us still being there, sneering over his shoulder at us. Desserts arrive, slammed on table by aloof waiter who immediately matches off. Chocolate for partner & what's this, crumble for me. I hate crumble. Call back waiter. He ignores us. Manage to get attention of other waiter, who brings out correct dessert & happy birthday chocolates. All waiters practically dissappear at this point, meaning the only way to pay bill was by going to front desk, where head waiter who'd been aware of all the mistakes totally ignored me. Another waiter gave me the bill & had the decency to charge less than full price. It was like being in an episode of Faulty Towers. I really disliked Orrery. Totally ruined my partner's 50th birthday meal. Worst restaurant experience I've ever had the displeasure to encounter.

One of my favourite Raviolo lobster for a starter followed by a delicious lamb wellington, wine list however didn’t serve any purpose. Service was slightly uncomfortable as staff kept refilling our half full wine glasses, staff were just in a rush to clear the table as a result of we Didn’t feel comfortable to order a dessert.

This was my third time at Orrery and in most instances, I'd recommend it without hesitation. Unfortunately, this time I ordered the consomme with duck ravioli. This comes with a pastry top to it and is served in a sort of giant egg cup. As I was cutting through the pastry it toppled over and spilled hot liquid over me which hurt. The waiter was very apologetic and told me that it wasn't the first time it had happened but the chef refuses to change the plating of the dish. The team took the price of it off the bill at the end and were apologetic. The dish was delicious, as was other food we ordered, although the lamb wellington was perhaps cooler than i'd expect. Sadly the soup situation rather killed the mood as my wife and I spent the rest of the evening cross about what had happened rather than enjoying our anniversary. I don't think we'll be back which is sad as we had really enjoyed this place before but if the chef isn't going to take seriously people getting physically hurt by his creations I can't return.

This has got to be one of my favourite restaurants in London. Recently celebrate a birthday lunch with 6 friends, and the restaurant did not disappoint. The food and service were excellent.

It is our first point of call when we return to London. That says it all.

A proper "grown up" restaurant, great staff, fantastic sommelier and superb kitchen. A gem in Marylebone.

Overall the experience was outstanding. The service was welcoming and attentive. My guests and I really appreciated our very nicely positioned table. The food and wines were truly excellent. The manager and staff were a delight.

Horribly overpriced (£15 for a bagel and orange juice). Applied a ‘discretionary’ service charge of 14.5% when ordering at the counter and without flagging the charge would be applied. Told I couldn’t use my laptop in the cafe due to space constraints when only 2 other people in the cafe at the time. Avoid

The food is interesting and delicious. Every detail carefully considered. Wine list fabulous. The crab starter was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the cod and my husband the beef. Every person who served was personable and attentive, they added to our lovely evening. And don’t skip dessert!!

Reliably good standard of food and well paced service. The venison dish was altered a bit on the day but was very tasty. Extensive wine list but on the the expensive side.

Delicious food and great service as always. One guest has a new baby and is avoiding soy and dairy. The staff were so helpful and produced a starter and a dessert just for her which she really enjoyed. Thank you everyone for making this birthday lunch such a special one.

We were disappointed with the food. 3 of us ordered the lobster bisque which arrived cold. We sent the plates back and received new dishes, they were hotter and edible but not as hot as soup should be. For dessert we all ordered the signature dish of apple pie, only to be told the restaurant had run out. given they only have 5 choices, and knew the numbers attending this was very poor.

We had a fabulous meal here. Set lunch was wonderful - the food was presented beautifully and tasted great. The staff were attentive, knowledgable and helpful. The ambience was really nice (helped that it was a nice sunny day outside), and the dining room is well designed, with lovely views over the small garden opposite. All in all, we loved it here, and we’ll be back!

Having never had the privilege of dining at the Orrery I was pleasantly surprised to find that it meets one’s expectation. The food was superb and the service both professional and engaging with a willingness to please the needs of the customer. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours.

We had the set lunch menu. Service was prompt and the food beautifully presented and deliciously flavoured. The accompanying carafe of Chablis was excellent.

Mateus the Manager was exceptional as always. He looked after my guests and I right through lunch, engaging with them and making them feel very welcome, whilst taking care of our every needs. It was important to me because I had a famous chef as one of my guest and, who later thanked me for taking him to such a fine restaurant, with such excellent food and service. I have been going to the Orrery for over 25 years and the food and service have always been consistent. As well as using it on a regular basis, I book our group family celebrations at The Orrery, as we wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

Overall we were disappointed with the scope of the menu, this is obviously personal choice but all 6 of us had individual disappointments, especially desserts. When we came on last visit menu was much more interesting for us. Service from Sommelier was poor. 2 wines ordered out of stock but it took so long to come back to us and inform. We were waiting a long time and had empty glasses for at least 20-30 minutes. The Sommelier also did not listen to us i.e. continued serving wine to one person despite us telling her 2/ 3 times not to. Also not responding when asked to come to the table. She seemed preoccupied and not giving us her full attention. The final bottle of wine chosen was in the end not charged for, which in itself underscores my point. To be honest my wife and I who have dined with you on a number of occasions felt we would probably not return ! Competition is fierce out there and your team in every way has to be on top of their game.

Beautiful restaurant. Food presented very well by attentive but unobtrusive staff. Food was delicious and a wide range of wines to chose from, starting at a very reasonable price for a carafe of good wine. Obviously a restaurant frequented by a lot of regular customers which is testament to the quality all round.

We always go to the Orrery for special occasions as it is a special place and you are made to feel special. The service is just perfect and the food sublime. We do not drink but the Sommelier is super fun, friendly and knowledgable about the restaurant and the world and life in general. He is a treasure. 🙏

Have been to Orrery before, and like previous visits, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent food in very nice surroundings.

Delicious food but service almost non existent. 45 minutes waiting for some bread and the first course. Service personnel was completely uncoordinated.

It had been a while since we ate at Orrery, reminded of how fantastic the food is there, it was most refreshing altogether, felt spoilt! The service is tops as I recall!

Sneaky to add 14.5% service as standard, we are in London, not the US

Went on a Sunday expecting it to be quiet. It had 3 tables of people it was completely dead. The interior is old and outdated. The menu for has extremely limited choice. We tried the chefs menu but the crab and steak best option both had a supplement of £20 extra so the meal quickly doubled in price. The 45 doesn’t include service charge so that’s a bit sneaky bait and switch approach. You can have rose or cocktail. No red wine on that menu. Rose was good but cocktail was a champagne cocktail and tasted like the flat end of the bottle. The crab starter tastes like it was in a fridge pre prepared and overly cold. Partner had salmon said it was ok nothing special. Then for main I had the beef with truffle jus. For such an expensive nice cut of steak it completely lacked any flavour. Partner also has the pepper steak again wasn’t great. Had the chocolate dessert and lemon dessert both were boring and average. Whole seating was over in less than 1.5 hrs and were the last 2 there. Ruined an anniversary. Was a mistake to pick this place. Cannot recommend enough to stop keeping these places going by saying they are ‘fine’ when they just aren’t. Rip off for poor experience.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Orrery with all our family recently. The staff were amazing and looked after us so well. Every single person, including the fussy ones, found the food delicious. The service was exceptional and we are so glad to have celebrated there. Thank you everyone at the Orrery, especially Julio your exceptional sommelier and of course the chef. We will be back and hope that it won’t be too much if we bring all the family again.

Unfortunately this particular experience was not a good one. The food was not to its usual standard and the staff came across as rather rude. Such a shame as on previous occasions it has been outstanding. New management?

Fabulous lunch as always - great food great service - always consistently great

That was book for my birthday... I have to say I do feel disappointed... The starter just very average I would say... And the main we have beef, cod and lamb... To us only the lamb was good... Cod and beef the seasoning was too salty... When I ordered the beef, the waiter asked me how rare I wanted it to be, and they recommended medium rare... I also chose medium rare, but when it server it was already rare in middle and the side definitely over cook... And the beef was super dry!!! Not sure will back there again...

As always both the food and staff are truly amazing. You never feel rushed and the pace the food is delivered is perfect. A slight hiccup with the delay in coffee being delivered as a result it was complimented and a very pleasant surprise. I am looking forward to my next visit very soon.

Tasting menu. Did not receive glass of wine included in the menu price. Service was disjointed and staff did not explain each course. Grapes on the cheeseboard were old & bruised Waited 15 minutes to receive bill after asking. Sat my table of 2 in the middle of 2 large parties, extremely noisy, when the rest of the restaurant was empty. 13.5% service charge ! Also money added for charity, without asking

We booked lunch for four of us …actually our friends golden wedding anniversary!! having been recommended Disappointed to find a practically empty dining area very little atmosphere The service & food was good .. However it felt rushed & hoovers & dusters were out whilst we were still there !! I’d heard such good reports so was a bit upset our experience did t quite cut it

Sat on the terrace as the weather was warm. Food was ok, but service slow and reactive rather than attentive. Had the 3 course lunch menu, which seemed reasonable value for money, but several choices £20 extra per course! Overall disappointing.

Beautiful food and service. Sat for lunch on the roof terrace and the set menu was amazing. The waiters are all super friendly and helpful would highly recommend. They also have a fantastic wine list.

We had the Chef's special menu, with Salmon Ceviche then Iron steak. Both perfect. We were well looked after by Jonty, who was as attentive as ever.

I went for a birthday meal, the food was fantastic. Our waiter Jonti was extremely attentive, very well informed about the menu and his service was excellent and could not have been more helpful. We was not rushed and was allowed to enjoy the food and drinks, whilst enjoying the summer weather. I'd certainly return.
