Cote Brasserie - Soho in City of London, Westminster

I enjoy a Côte and have been to many but this night was just off. From the table, to the not so great service, problems with the drinks. On this night this branch let down the Côte reputation.

On our way to Ronnie Scott’s and we could have gone anywhere, but tried our luck to book a table and we got one! Second time visit, but to a different Côte, really good food, staff were helpful and it was nice to sit by the window and watch the world go by. I really like this restaurant and I would happily recommend it to others.

Great welcome and quick service. Prix was very good value. Have been to this particular Côte many times, great location and consistently good food. Pete was a great waiter too. Nice and buzzy atmosphere even though it was only 5pm!

The most disappointed Birthday Celebration in this restaurant. We were today Saturday 23/3/‘24 for lunch and the service was very slow. We had to call the waitresses to order the drinks; Waitresses looked like bored or tired of being there or just not even wanting to work. The portions of food were extremely small and over price for the poor quality and poor amount served. The duck orange with three segmenta of clementine were a joke and the duck didn’t even have much meat. My steak look like has been run over by a bus and the other s steaks weak like a rock or stone. Definitely I’m not coming back there and I will not recommend this place at all.

I was disappointed by this branch of cote. The gentleman that took our reservation was extremely rude. The service was slow and unfriendly. The food lukewarm and drinks took an hour to arrive.

So hard to get served in a timely fashion - then screwed up our second round of drinks and never fixed the situation…. Yes the drinks, the easiest thing to get right… I mean it was only 1 glass of house red, one glass of house white and a G&T… what we got was two house reds… then the came back with the white and we never saw the G&T!

A busy bistro with good service.

I love French food and really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the salmon and eggs dish i ordered gave me extremely awful food poisoning and have been ill since yesterday morning after eating there. If you choose to eat here, I highly recommend not ordering anything pertaining to seafood as it is clearly not stored in a safe and edible manner. And to the restaurant - please learn how to properly store meats and seafood as this is unsafe for your customers to consume.

A cote is a cote is cote. No bad thing as you know what you're getting. Good french food and pretty consistent without costing too much.

I had visited the restaurant on Wardour Street on a previous occasion and decided to book again as I had enjoyed my last experience. The staff there are amazing, so attentive and the food was delicious.

Had a really nice time with my mates, ordered variosu meat dishes, cheese appetisers and bread. Everything tasted really nice and Pete provided an excellent service! Thank you Pete for being kind, patience and very attentive. Will come again!

I visit Soho Cote a reasonable amount - and like the fact they have staff who are regulars. The ambience is always great, and the food tasty.

The food is your average French food in London. Good value for money tho. The hidden cost however is in waiting. I had a 3 course meal (charcuterie board, steak frites and a crape) this all took 1 hour and 10 minutes. The waiters make you wait for so long it's awful. Basically, once I had already finished my started I waited for more than 20 minutes for them just to acknowledge me and start preparing the main. This is really annoying especially for lunch time as many people have to go back to work and can only afford about an hour. Wouldn't recommend.

I was here only for the cream caramel.

The vegan French Onion Soup does NOT have vegan cheese despite this Soho restaurant trying to convince you that the cheese is definitely vegan. In light of the stringy nature and non-coconut nature of the cheese, it is extremely mozzarella like, so much so I was as sure as sure can be that the cheese on my vegan French Onion Soup was not in fact Vegan. Had the cheese been vegan, it's safe to say that it would be a breakthrough for vegan cheese!!!! Upon asking the restaurant staff to check that the cheese is vegan, they confirmed that it is. Nevertheless, after speaking to the Covent Garden restaurant, the cheese is in fact Comte Cheese and is therefore VEGETARIAN. I am extremely luckily that I do not have a dairy allergy and that eating vegan is just a dietary preference. It is extremely frightening to think about the serious effect that eating dairy could have on someone with a dairy allergy. This restaurant needs to improve and stop acting negligently, it's a disaster and a court case waiting to happen! Also, by way of taste, the soup itself is very bland.

Honestly really disappointed with our meal. It was late in the evening so maybe they just wanted to go home but the food was under par and cold. The service was haphazard and we had to keep asking for things - simple like cutlery, sauce, more water etc.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Food pretty ok. Excellent service.

The food was very good but we waited an hour or so for our food, OK they were very busy and we weren't in a hurry but not good, especially when children are waiting. Staff were apologetic and polite.

We love Cote for a reliable, good value steak frites. Pete our server was super prompt and polite, we felt really well taken care of and confident we’d finish in time for the show we were seeing that evening. Thanks Pete!!

The food is very flavourful and nicely presented, with many dishes on the menu that I could definitely recommend. The staff is personable, very efficient, and attentive: I'd say the service is what actually stood out at Cote Soho as compared to other restaurants. We'd definitely go back, also because Soho is such an entertaining area to explore, and starting the evening with a nice and enjoyable dinner is definitely a plus.

Although the greeting wasn't hugely welcoming and the service was a bit lukewarm. The venue was lovely with a good atmosphere. We did not have to wait very long before the drinks & food arrived and it was absolutely delicious. It's not the cheapest place to go but the food is great. I had the 7oz Filet steak & I forgot how small 7oz is! But it was delicious! The main toilet facilities are down a set of steps where there is a basement room with more tables. There is a disabled toilet on the ground level. The looks to be street parking available outside but is very limited. I would recommend getting the underground or walking if possible! Also very close to a number of theatres.

A group of 7 of us had an excellent meal here. This isn't grand dining, but is a perfectly good Côte. Given typical London prices, this is a very pleasant option for a pre-theatre meal.

Very smart restaurant good service and very good food.

Nous sommes allées dîner dans ce restaurant avec ma mère par hasard et quelle coup de chance ! Nous avons été bien reçues, le serveur était très souriant et gentil. Nous avons adoré les plats et gros coup de coeur pour le Mushroom Bourgignon qui était excellent ! Je recommande !

Food was brilliant as normal. The service by the male waiter as very good. But when the lady waitress took our order for desert it was taking ages. Then the waitress came back only to say had none left so we had to order something else which was nice. This was about 14-30pm , our desert took about 25min to be delivered to our table and it wasn't a hot desert ( poor )

Syed was an excellent server. The deserts are really good, especially the crème caramel.

Firstly when I had arrived I had to wait atleast 1 and a half hours to be served. The worker was really rude used very slangish words a sentence she had said was ‘I don’t know whose food this is but yolo you get what u get’ the food was very dry we had order several steaks and the well done steak came red. We had missed our desserts the burgers. Tasted like carboard. I would not recommend going

We were here on 31 December 2023 to celebrate New Year's Eve and this was by far the worst restaurant experience that I have ever encountered and one that will be talked about for many years to come (for the wrong reasons). We were very excited to be spending our New Year's Eve with friends and family that came from far and we were left very disappointed and very dissatisfied, with a gaping hole in both our expectations and our stomachs. I can acknowledge that the restaurant is busier on a New Year's Eve and things might be a bit more frantic, but one simply cannot accept this as an excuse for the total implosion that occurred at the restaurant on the night. Our experience was not an isolated incident and was shared by our fellow patrons. After waiting 30mins past our booking time of 20:30, we received our drinks which included a "Welcome" drink only at 22:25, our starters past 23:00 and by 23:30 still haven't received our mains, when we decided to give up, get up, pay for our drinks and proceed to the nearest McDonald's. This will probably be the only time in my life that I would have a Prawn Thermidor as a starter followed by a cheeseburger from McD's as the main. This was an extremely disappointing experience and fell far short of our expectations, especially celebrating an occasion like this. We have visited Côte Brasserie restaurants on multiple occasions previously and after this experience, we simply cannot risk celebrating another special occasion at one in the future.

Been there for New Year's Eve.. I waited 2h30 juste to have the starters. Food was good, but everything came cold. Even with a reservation at 19:30, we left at 23:30 without dessert. 4 hours for a starter and cold meat, I definitly can say that it was the worst service I experienced in my whole life.

I went here last night for the NYE. Made a reservation for 21:30, got seated at 22:05. It was difficult to understand how they were seated the customers, the hostess was just softly calling the names from inside the restaurant so it was difficult to hear. We were fortunate enough to be among the ones who got they order taken pretty quickly (15 min) however they brought the entrés before bringing us the appetisers nor did we have any cutlery. We had to wait an additional 10 min for someone to finally notice us and bring us some. Regarding the appetisers, we had to ask many times before them telling us that they didn’t have any. After a long time, we finally received the mains. I got the duck confit a l’orange and my friend the chicken. It was pretty clear that it was a low version of what it was supposed to be (and so were the dessert that we also received after midnight, forcing us to have a pretty disappointing NYE) it just felt like they ran out of time and ingredients and just tried to do whatever they could to make it up to it. We were however lucky enough to receive 3/4 courses. Lots of people around us didn’t. It would have been fine to be still here at midnight even if it was not ideal. But the general frustration made the experience very poor. The staff, mostly one of the waiter (I don’t know his name but he was amazing), were however very nice. You can see that they were doing their best in this situation and were always trying to help with a smile. At the end, we left with a discounted price, which was appreciated.

New Years Eve. Arrived on time for our reservation. After 3 hours no starters. Considered ordering in with Deliveroo. All other tables desperate for food and drinks. Many tables of people walked out. Never ever eat here if you plan to receive food and drinks.. What a disaster for New Years Eve. People getting up and leaving for Mc Donald’s. @franchiseholders…..close down please.

Last night was a disaster at this restaurant. I felt really sorry for the staff who told me that they were full for New Year on 29 December and yet head office kept the reservations open and took 100 more seats than they could cope for. We arrived at 9pm and we queued outside till 9.40pm. We were seated at 9.53pm and we were still waiting for dessert at 11.45pm. 2.45 hours after our table reservation. This should never have happened and the head office needs to understand the goodwill impact as trying to make more money resulted in guest dissatisfaction, bad reviews, ruined New Year for many and staff frustration having to deal with the guests.

Côte has always been a special restaurant for me. Côte Covent Garden was the first ever restaurant I went to with my sister when I moved to London. Every time she visits, we make sure to go there. Unfortunately, this time at Côte Soho was not only our worst experience at a Côte restaurant, but our worst experience at any restaurant ever. We had a booking for 9pm but were only sat 1h30 later. We later had to get up to ask for drinks because nobody had come around our table. We ended up leaving the restaurant another 1h30 later without even having had the opportunity to eat anything. It being a New Year's Eve, we had expected for it to be busy and the service to be slow, but we hadn't anticipated we wouldn't get any service at all. It seemed other tables around us also had an unpleasant experience tonight. I was ashamed to have brought my sister and my friend and felt bad that this experience ruined their New Year's Eve. I am so sad to say this because Côte was indeed a special place for me, but I don't think we will be going back any time soon. I doubt we will ever forget this New Year's Eve.

“I had the worst experience on New Year’s Eve at a restaurant. Despite having a reservation, there were no available tables initially. The queue was long, and even after waiting for 30 minutes, we were finally given a table. However, we waited for another 2 hours without any food or service. Ultimately, we left the restaurant without eating, and this led to an argument with my partner, resulting in us breaking up. It’s incredibly disappointing that the restaurant allowed bookings without providing adequate service or food. A place that was once a favorite has now become a place I’ll never visit again.”

Writing this while waiting on my food. Arrived at 8pm for reservation at 8.15, got our table at 8.30. So far so good, very friendly personel. Menu consists of: 3 appitezers, starter, main and dessert. 9pm. No appetizer in sight. 9.45pm. Still no appetizer for us but the table next to us, that arrived later, received twice without ordening it. 10.30pm, after a couple of questions, we received our starters, no sign of the appetizer. When asked of we could have some bread, there was non left, just like the olives. It is now 11.15pm no food in sight, no manager who was supposed to come speak to us, 3 other tables who were in the same boat (they are the reason for the 3 stars in atmosphere, great people. Hope they have a great year!). To top this all off, table behind us got some bread to wait… Great dissapointment to what I believe would have been a night with amazing food. We saw multiple people leave in a bad mood or even leave their table. The personel stayed friendly and tried to be helpfull, no complaints there. But organisation was just horrible. Hate to give this kind of review but ‘Happy New Year’

Our daughter is Coeliac and the Gluten Free menu at Cote Soho was huge. Staff friendly and helpful and the food delicious. I highly recommend it!

Great service from Beata and delicious dessert

The most awful service I have experienced.The lady at the reception was patronising,acting as if we were beggars to attend their venue.I was sat in the middle of the restaurant and it was a passage for all waiters and waitresses.Food was just dropped at the table by the waiters.At some point,I saw the waiter who was serving and do the bills cough into his own hands and did not wash his hands,he took food straight to another patron. It was the most horrible service I have ever seen,even McDonald's fast food does thousands times better.Honeatly,I won't recommend anyone to go there.It was horrible.

Excellent little Cote restaurant in Soho London. We had a booking (recommended) but we arrived early and the table was ready so we were able to be seated before time. The staff were great and attentive and the food was fabulous. The best Vote we have been too.

The food came too fast. We ate a 3 meal course in just one hour. We ordered a 60pond meat for two. The meat was cold, we asked bearnaise extra. We got 2 times the wrong sauce. When we said this to the staff their where not friendly at all. We also didn’t get our fries. Our goal was to celebrate Christmas with 6 friends. It was for us a little disaster. At the end we paid way too much for what we get. This was for us not a great evening.

Really disappointed. Been to a lot of cote's around the region. Service here was appalling. Usually a lovely experience. But here the food turned up 10 minutes before the drinks. A gluten free starter was not gluten free! One starter never turned up at all! Very disappointed.

We booked this restaurant for our office christmas dinner and were thoroughly disappointed with the experience. The waiter was friendly but the time between the starters and the mains was abysmal. When the mains finally did arrive there weren't enough for all our party to eat at the same time and by the time the missing plates arrived everyone else had finished their food. The turkey was overcooked to the point where it was hard to chew. We were there for over two hours and ended up leaving before we even had our desserts because everything was taking so long to arrive. We will not be booking here again.

Went to see book of mormon so prebooked table at wardour st as from past experience your struggle without especially around theatre times . Food was good service was OK, however tables for two seem to be just stuck anywhere in restaurant and our placing wasn't great, we were right next to the bar where staff were constantly in and out . However I've never had a bad meal in cotes restaurants reasonably priced for soho.

Decent food, lovely staff here!….Gluten free menu for friends who are scared of gluten.

Decent food at reasonable price, but terrible service. Server forgot our waters. Courses took forever to come out. About two hours for a simple 3 course meal. When it was time to pay, the server took my card and tapped it on the machine without me even noticing. Thankfully it was the right amount but she could have put anything on it.

Possibly the most disorganised Cote I’ve ever been to. Wait staff barking enquiries at you, communicating loudly with each other over your head and checking in a perfunctory way all added to the lack og cohesive dining experience. Also had to chase wine orders twice and our dessert orders seemed to have not been recorded and so when chasing ur dessert order learned that we didn’t actually have a dessert order coming…

had my worst experience here! Came here with a group of friends, our order was very straightforward with 3 starters and 5 mains. It then took them 1.5 hours to make the dish. When we politely reminded the manager (the other waiter later told us the manager’s name was Adrian), out of nowhere he just said we haven’t been waiting that long, there’s a party going on so why the delay. If it was just that we would not be so offended, he said in a very aggressive and sassy voice, like telling us off for asking for food. Our steak was even overcooked when we asked for medium rare. No apology given whatsoever, the manager just then ignored us and we then got served by another waiter who was way more friendly and respectful. Will never go back here!

Went there tonight to celebrate an occasion. Just two of us. Food was overcooked, and presentation wasn’t great. But the service was epically slow, and … Indifferent. Almost an hour between appetisers and mains … and that was after asking several times where the mains were. Wait staff congregated around the bar, ignoring customers looking for additional drinks or service. The table next to us left after an hour of no food service. Seriously disappointing. Won’t be back in quite some time. Used to be a favorite.

Birthday lunch ruined. So disappointed. We came as a family of 6 for my husband’s birthday treat. We were sat downstairs and mostly ignored. Terrible, inattentive service. Food took so long to arrive that we had no time for cake (which the waiter completely forgot any way). We were late for the cinema afterwards. Really don’t recommend at all.

We were disappointed for the 1st time with service at a Cote restaurant, simply in terms of how long it took. We were a party of 5, including a 6year old child. As usual the food was good and no complaints about the waiting staff but management and delivery of food was very poor. We arrived on time at 5.30 and didn't leave until 8pm. We don't know exactly what the trouble was but we did make it clear on more than one occasion that our grandchild and his parents needed to be going home. We noticed at least one table who arrived after us were served well before us. Considering I booked nearly 2 months in advance I also did not appreciate being seated downstairs near the toilet when the atmosphere upstairs was so much more attractive!

For a chain this is good. It is not going to challenge you, straight down the line simple basic food and pretty much always consistent every time I have been. I would say this is comfort food if you are in a town centre. Mostly for a lunch you do not need to book. The staff are always great, polite, attentive without being pushy. Reasonably priced. Good wine / drink options.

Bonne cuisine, carte riche et variée. Bœuf bourguignon au top !! Nous étions 7, tout le monde a apprécié. Le service est excellent. Accueil, sourire et le petit digestif offert..Rien à dire!! la carte des vins est surprenante et qualitative. Un effort pour servir des frites fraîches et le tout sera parfait. Je, nous recommandons vivement !!

Very unfortunately, they had run out of half the menu by the time we arrived for dinner last night! Still, the fillet and lamb were succulent. The service was exceptional, and generally, I'd definitely go back, hoping for a little more luck next time 🙏

Chose it as a place to meet friends whilst on a weekend break in London. We liked it so much we went back two days later on our way back to the train. Quiet, so good for conversation, efficient service and lovely food. We had the fixed price menu on both occasions which was ample choice for us.

We dropped in for a light meal during a weekend break. The staff were lovely, we were given a table in the window and the food was delicious and just what we needed. It took a little longer for the cheese soufflé - we were warned about that - but it was worth it! My daughter had the French onion soup which she said was really good.

Great food at reasonable prices and friendly staff

The service was great but the food was just so so. We did however have a great wine! The prices were good though on the lunch menu. Perhaps the other dishes are better. My husband got the ribeye and it was decent. My French onion soup lacked flavor though.

Staff needs more training!!! We went there just after the lunch hour rush. I belive that the staff were changing and we were served in total by four diffrent team members. The Sirloin steak arrived without the truffle sauce. I have asked one of the staff for it. I have noticed that the person asked another team member for it. Than the supervisor came and said that they actually didn’t have this sauce anymore and offered a diffrent one. In that time my friend was already half the way of finishing his steak, so we declined the offer. 2 min later another waiter brought us the sauce. We have declined the tap water twice, yet half way through our meal yet another waiter brought us water. The food was ok, but not great. Steak had a few unbeatable bits. The green salad turned out to be a very small amount of rocket salad on its own. The Paillard Salad croutons were so hard, that my friend couldn’t put them on the fork. The vegan burger was good.

Pro's Brilliant staff who are welcoming and accommodating. A special 'shout out' to Camia who was THE best hostess and incredibly personable - thank you. Con's Cote serves typically french when it comes to portion sizes but, sad to say, I found this particular branch took it to a new level. After 3 courses and table nibbles, you don't expect to be walking away still needing more - not what you expect at £50p.p.

Wonderful experience. Great atmosphere. Friendly, efficient, attentive staff. Really liked the food including ended up visiting four times during our stay in London and tried a number of dishes over this time. They are very careful about catering to food allergies including for coeliacs.
