Oriental Palace in Doncaster

Not good. Unfortunately locals don't have much choice! Rather get a Chinese takeout from Waitrose/M&S

2nd visit to this excellent restaurant. The owner is lovely, friendly welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Food is also excellent. We had a set meal for 2 this visit and it was delicious good value for money. Definitely be back and I highly recommend it. 👌

First visit Friday lunchtime. Superb food, best menu variety I've seen in a long time, friendly staff. Will be back soon, I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was beautiful tasted amazing we had the set menu A and it was cooked to perfection best Cantonese in Doncaster. The staff were police and nice setting also. Will definitely be going back

Such a lovely family-run business. You are always made to feel welcome. You can choose from a menu or they have a number of set meals. The food is really nice and plentiful. I think the fact that they are fully booked and always busy speaks for itself I would also say it is a wheelchair-friendly restaurant as there are no steps and everything is on one level. I Would definitely recommend this restaurant

We went last night for a meal for my 10 yrs old daughter’s birthday. It was her choice for a Chinese meal. The food was great but the service from the lady, who I believe is the owner, was terrible. My daughter is just starting out eating this cuisine, so it is all new to her. She chose something off the menu, but it was from the ‘hot’ section. She didn’t know, we didn’t know but the lady’s attitude was not sensitive. She then was rushing my daughter to make a decision. I did intervene but my daughter was already upset. I wish we would have walked out but we’d already got a round of drinks and I didn’t really know how upset my daughter was until too late. It was obvious that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday but there was no mention of it until we were walking out of the door. We will not be back due to the woman’s brusque attitude.

Best Chinese food I have ever tasted! The restaurant is spotlessly clean. Very well furnished, plenty of space between tables. The lady who served us was really friendly and very accommodating to our wishes. Strongly recommend this restaurant

We went as a party of 10 with 4 of us having birthdays this month and to simplify things we ordered the set meals for two --- more than enough excellent food served by pleasant staff and a character of a manager who made us welcome and couldn't do enough for us ---- and to cap it all 4 small individual birthday treats complete with candles --- to be recommended both for food and service by 10 very happy diners

Managed to squeeze us in quite early, but was worth coming early. Food was fabulous and staff are all lovely. I would strongly recommend this restaurant

Had a takeaway with our friends for my 70th Birthday. Went there before lockdown and had a great meal. Unfortunately we were greatly disappointed. Meal was bland and overcooked.

We visited oriental palace as was down for the local event of fishomania at hayfield lakes and the reviews looked good - we was seated fastly and ordered some drinks We then ordered our starter, me and my GF got half a duck and pancakes...

We chose here after reading reviews, salt content in gravy was shocking which ruined our meals as a family, first time also last for us, expensive takeaway!!

Not had many take out meals during lockdown... But, this one did not fail to hit the mark.... Tasty and, felt totally at ease upon entering with masks worn and sanitizer abound sitting on the delivery / collection table inside the door.... A friendly greeting...

An absolute must to visit. Fantastic meal at reasonable prices. Would recommend all the usual Cantonese dishes but also any of the fillet beef dishes and the Mongolian lamb hotpot. Service was first class. Thanks for making 2 birthdays very special. David

Had a 6.30 booking met with a cheerful greeting and fabulous aromas. Bright and clean decor . Attentive but not over bearing service . Food on the whole very good bordering on excellent just the black bean sauce a little too salty but the scallops were perfect my wife's pork dish faultless.The bill showed excellent value and we'll worth a return visit.

Really enjoyed the bean curd with green peppers and black bean Saunders and sizzling chinese veg in satay sauce with chow mien and egg fried rice. Consistently good food that we enjoy and flexible when we turn up for early doors dinner unhooked.

We visited for my daughters birthday with a table at 6pm. The lady in charge was extremely helpful and so nice, the food did not take long and was very good. We will definitely be returning. The only thing I could say is we did have to keep getting the waitress attention to request drinks as these are not pushed on you but this did not ruin our experience at all it was lovely.

It was our wedding anniversary so we thought about giving this a try after reading other reviews on Trip Advisor. We arrived a little bit early and were told at the door there would be a 45 minute wait which would’ve put us over our 8pm booking slot. However, after rearranging a couple of tables we were seated straight away...excellent.We ordered from the main menu instead of the set meals.The food was delivered to the table promptly and was nice and hot and also plentiful. So plentiful that we had to take the rest home!Host and staff were pleasant and helpful. Well deserved a tip.Just to note that weekends are very busy and require booking at least 2 weeks in advance.We will definitely be returning.

my boss had booked this Chinese restaurant for a sort of works do after speaking to a few people i had heard great things about this place and was looking forward to eating there.we arrived at out allotted time and was greeted by a member of staff and shown to our table, trouble was it was right against the back wall and some of us struggled to get in so we had to pull the table away from the wall to be seated one of the staff members didnt seem very happy about this and pulled a face . we then ordered drinks for us all then was told that the waitress would first take the starter orders then main course which was fine the starters to me came out way to fast like they was already prepared and were a bit dry and bland then main course came out in fits and starts i ordered duck with pineapple and ginger trouble is the ginger was so strong it over powered the other food so couldn't taste anything at all my girlfriend ordered king prawns which were spicy that`s fine she loves spicy food but the first bite and her mouth was on fire so again she couldn't taste anything as it was so hot miles too hot for normal spicy food they didn't have much choice for people like me that don`t drink i ordered an orange squash but they didn't sell that so had to have pure orange juice the whole atmosphere didn't seem friendly at all the bill was paid as we left i said goodbye but the boss just looked at us and without replying just turned back around shame was hoping for a better experience after the good words i heard about the place neither me nor the girlfriend will return what a shame

First class from the phone booking, being met at the door, fantastic food to the friendly goodbye. Tried salt and pepper frogs legs!! Yummy. Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly and attentive, nothing rushed at all. Thoroughly enjoyable evening with family. Will be going again.

Popped in on spec early on Saturday 13 April 2019 and was advised we could book a table but needed to leave for 8pm due to another booking.

We had booked a large table to celebrate a large birthday, unfortunately 2 children and 1 adult were sick on the night and our party was reduced. On arrival they made the necessary changes to our booked menu choices and the table was reset for a lesser number. The service was excellent, not too fast or slow, the food was served hot and the quality superb, the staff were plentiful and worked very hard to ensure that everything was top class and we could not fault the facility in any way. The décor is very tasteful and the restaurant has a great ambiance, highly recommended for any occasion.

It’s been maybe 12 months since our last visit. Quality remains very high. The crispy lamb remains a favourite. Staff friendly and efficient. All in all a lovely experience

Haven't been here for years, although it's a regular haunt of my daughter. Lovely restaurant with really welcoming owners, who have been here some time now. Food is as expected, the usual Chinese, the sea bass is particularly good though. Definitely recommend here the service is so friendly and the prices are good

We always feel warmly welcomed at the Imperial Palace and the food is consistently good. The surrounding plush decor adds up to it being a real treat.

Lovely ambience, great service and delicious food. We enjoy visiting Oriental Palace a family run business with some different dishes at reasonable prices. Limited parking spaces so eat early. Highly recommend.

We did not want to write a review of this hidden Chinese/Asian restaurant,having visited it many times since its opening some years ago.As a local resident we didnt want to many people to know about it,and therefore it got to popular as it is not over large.But creates a great atmosphere within for everyone.The food and service is top class takes some beating.Everything you would want for a pleasant evening out as a couple or with friends and family.

Set menu on Christmas Eve was excellent with a very good choice of food variety.Been many times in 2018 and always found a warm welcome and had amazing meals there. Thanks to Wendy and staff

Ordered with first class service. Arranged time to pick up. Waited 5 mins and the food was brought to my car + Christmas present of mince pies. Food was delicious and hot what more service could you want excellent, would fully recommend this place. Next time we will book for meal in the restaurant.

We were looking for a Saturday night meal out and decided to try the Oriental Palace. It is located out of he town centre on the road to Sprotborough. It had a standard menu but with number of unusual dishes including sizzling lamb - absolutely delicious! The restaurant was spotlessly clean with staff who could not do enough for you. It was a really good evening. we will be returning.

My friend and I have had some nice meals but after two visits not really enjoying it we have stopped going. .the torfu was cooked to empty pieces , and on another occasion the fish wasn't tasting very good. .I had to leave it. Very nice service and clean.

Yet again we visited for our regular Chinese meal.The staff are great and the food is always perfect. I had the spare ribs to start and my wife had the prawn toast. We both had the sizzling lamb with green peppers in blackbean sauce, very tasty. They always bring a dish of fruit each to finish, which is nice. A bottle of nice wine is good to go with it. We will be back again soon, looking forward to it.

Visited here for a birthday. Great food and customer service. Definitely worth the price! Only downfall is that if you order a few things at once the food doesn’t all come out together, you are waiting a few minutes for your other plates to come out. Definitely recommend to others

Called in for a takeaway whilst waiting to meet a train as very near the station. Really friendly atmosphere and takeaway excellent- crispy duck and beef in black bean sauce (not together) owner very nice and helpful

Enjoyed a lovely meal at this restaurant last night. On arrival, a secure car park, met by nice friendly staff. A nice ambience and a great menu choice from Chinese to Thai and Malaysian dishes. Reasonable prices for both food and drink. I enjoyed the Duck.

I love it here. The food is gorgeous. My kids live it here too especially the frogs legs. Staff are friendly and efficient.

We went with our very good friends and wanted something special it was lovely from the moment of entering. Beautiful restaurant for a great time to relax with friends the service was excellent made to feel very welcome had to wait for nothing very attentive. As a birthday treat we visited the Oriental Palace. Starting with the excellent crispy duck, we then had beef in black bean sauce, king prawn date and really exceptional Thai yellow chicken. The dining experience is really relaxed with brilliant and friendly service. Well worth a visit!

If you want good Chinese food with good service, this is the place to go. We had an excellent meal without having to wait very long and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will be going again.

All of the dishes we had were delicious. Would especially like to recommend the crispy duck, which was done very well. Have been to other Chinese restaurants in Doncaster, but this one is the best in my opinion.

Fuimos en 5 / 5 / 17 para mi cumpleaños y la comida era precioso, un servicio excelente y el personal es acogedor y servicial. Tuvimos el £19 por persona y la comida era precioso, no cabe duda de que volveremos pronto.

Habíamos reservado una mesa de 13 para celebrar mi 30 cumpleaños de julio. Ellos nos dijeron que tendríamos que pagar y salir a las 8 pm, dándonos 2 horas que era difícil, teniendo en cuenta cuántos de nosotros había pero comprendimos. El servicio estaba bien, no era muy amable, pero la comida era buena. No estoy seguro de si me visita el restaurante de nuevo con un gran número como quieran y lo más rápido posible. Me sentía estresado y se apresuró a salir, ya que merodeaba alrededor de la mesa.

Visited this establishment on Sat 14th for a meal with my wife. As always, the place, the staff and the food were spot on!!Thankfully we booked a table otherwise we would not have got in......shows how popular this place is. If you have never been......well worth a visit, but don't forget to book!!

After visiting this restaurant several time we unfortunatly left dissapointed after our.visit for our anniversary. We arrived on time for our table on time however were not seated until 20 mins after our booked time. The restaurant was busy but not full. We didn't recieve an apology or explanation.We then ordered a combination starter and a main dish each. We didn't recieve the usual prawn cracker starter that every other table was getting. We had been there almost 40 minutes before our starters arrived. When our starter finally arrived unfortunatly i bit into the vegetable spring roll and it was frozen solid in the middle. We checked the other items on the plate ans some were red hot some were luke warm. Both springrols you could still see ice crystals in the middle very dissapointed. We alerted the waitress (older lady bob hair style) she went to remove the spring rolls with her hands from our plate but I refused for her to replace these items alone and asked her to replace the whole starter plate. When the second a starter arrived the temperature of all the items were considerably hotter and alot fresher.Our mains arrived as ordered but the temperature wasn't fresh cooked hot they tasted like they had been sat waiting for us to finish the starter mess up they made.Had we have recieved a sincer and professional appology I may have left the restaurant feeling reassured but we left feeling like we had been an inconvenience with no offer of acknowlegement to their mistake. I honestly find it hard that a restaurant that has been here this long can get something so basic so wrong and I am upset to think they use frozen ingredients at those prices. Due to this visit it is with regret I won't be returning to this restaurant. It is a real shame as we did really rate the place before hand.

We were a party of 8 including our 20 month old grandson. One of our party did not eat Chinese food and they provided a very satisfactory alternative. We ordered a variety of dishes and all were delicious although a couple were not as warm as they should have been.The service was excellent and the food appeared quickly after ordering. We shall certainly be returning when we are next visiting Doncaster.

Came to oriental palace today 17/10/16 for m6 wedding anniversary meal.. the sevice was brilliant and the ladies were lovely and attentive. The food was device. Freshly cooked to perfection. Will I visit again.... you bet I will

We're not local to Doncaster but stopped off here to meet up with friends. Food was nice, service was a little slow although the restaurant was a bit busy. A little expensive though - £120 for 4 people with only a few glasses of alcohol.

We found this excellent Chinese restaurant last year when we were looking for a restaurant near to the railway station but where we could park and how glad we did. Our secondVisit was yesterday and it is absolutely superb! You will need to book as it gets very busy.the delightful owner makes you very welcome.her husband is the chef and they make a fantastic team. We were dining with our son and his fiancée,who both live and work in London and our daughter who lives in north wales .so they are all used to having high quality restaurants available and experiencing them.the oriental palace is up there with the best of them.

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants but our most recent visit was not the best. The prawn crackers were taken away before we had chance to finish them and we felt quite rushed throughout the meal. Two of us had beef curry and it was extremely salty; when we mentioned it we were given a voucher from the purple voucher book as an apology. This wasn't really a reasonable form of compensation because it is a 2 for 1 voucher, which I already have because I buy the book! I'm not sure I want to return, with or without the voucher! Definitely not up to the standards of previous visits.

First visit here and we had a very warm welcome from the lady owner(I presume?). We was seated straight away even though they were very busy and our food came in good time. There were 10 of us who went here for my daughters birthday. We were recommended the place by some friends then proceeded to look on tripadvisor and read some of the reviews and nearly didn't book. WELL I'M GLAD WE DID!The staff were great. Firstly we turned up and there were only 8 of us so a quick alteration to the table and we were good to go. So we ordered the banquet and changed a few of the mains, no problems here. We then ordered some extra stuff for my daughter, again no problem. The food came, we didn't feel rushed, the food was amazing oh and you know that feeling of going to some Chinese restaurants and you feel stuffed at the end, well not here, there was plenty of food but it all seemed very light and very well seasoned. Awesome place. See you real soon

My partner booked this restaurant as part of her 30th birthday celebrations as we had heard great reviews about it. It was booked for a group of over 20. The day before she received a phone call telling her that we could only stay for an hour as they had other bookings, we would have to leave for 8pm, having arrived at 7pm. Managed to negotiate with them to stay a bit longer.On the night our waitress couldn't have cracked a smile if her life depended. She was miserable and rude. No pleases or thank you's despite our group being nothing but polite. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The bill was dumped on or table as soon after 8pm as they could. We left at 815pm. Despite this our group left a tip which was met with complete indifference, again no thank you.Had a great night in-spite of the restaurant. Neither I, nor any member of our group, shall be returning anytime soon.

I'm a self-confessed non-chinese fan, doesn't do it for me. Went here for a change from the usual indian and had a great time. The pkace is lovely, if not small but the service is quick and efficient. Unsure what to order, we went for the 18 quid/person banquet which was lovely. The only warning i would give us...dont be greedy...there was far too much grub for me and missus. We had a mixed starter pkatter, half crispy duck and 4 mains plus special rice and crackers. The whole lot would have easily fed 3 (maybe 4) people...it was a struggle!. Top tip would be to order seperates and avoid the banquet...unless you are a pig and want to lay awake all night dreaming!

Not sure why this has such a low rating as this for me is one of the best in south Yorkshire, service is excellent, off street parking, and the food we had excellent quality and quantity. Rice done to perfection. I also was keen to see it is open at lunchtime which is remarkable for this area. About 10 minutes from the A1 so not too far for the traveller wanting a meal en-route.

6 of us went for a family meal on Friday evening. We used to go when it first opened and thought the food was amazing so we decided to return. I ordered sizzling chicken in black bean sauce and was very disappointed in the meal, it was tasteless. another person ordered kung po chicken as that is what he has every time and is usually served with cashew nuts, this time to our surprise it was served with salted peanuts making the meal far to salty for him and ruined the meal. overall the food was average but I will not be returning again.

Nice oriental cuisine, decent staff, intimate if you want it to be, not expensive at all. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and not been disappointed.

Staff are rude, went in and asked to book a table for half an hours time the staff member was talking to me and decided to answer the phone will talking to me how rude! So decided to walk out.

Not a bad experience but never been tempted to return. Didn't leave a big impression or a bad one either. Ok but nothing spectacular.

Booked the night before to do something different and was definitely the right decision.In a converted Post Office this restaurant is small but like the tardis inside with plenty of room between tables.The decor is quite funky for a chinses restaurant but also quite tasteful. The service was excellent although the were a few tables empty, but still quite a number of diners.The three course set meal for two was very very good, starting off with prawn crackers and a beer, then a very good platter with a variety of dishes.The main course was excellent with three dishes, mixed vegetables and rice, more than enough for two people.Excellent value, excellent sevice, excellent food just excellent all round.

It is a number of years since our last visit here since moving area but paid a visit last night.Plenty of selection on the menu.We chose a set menu for two which was tasty and a good selection with plentiful portions which would have been enough for three people.

Based in the centre of Sprotbrough, it is easily accessible from Doncaster town centre. Quite a small restaurant but cosy. The staff are very helpful and polite. Restaurant is clean and well set out. We ordered a good cross section of meals to review. Delivery was prompt and meals were hot, ample and very tasty. Prices ave very good and a goid selection of beers and lagers. All fairly priced. Overall a very pleasant venue. Toilets are a little cramped, and I didn't see any Disabled facilities, possibly due to size of venue. No WiFi. Worth a second visit.Our review 8/10

I was the only person in here, but it was early on a Sunday evening. I had salt and pepper spare ribs and sweet and sour chicken. All very well done and tasty. Regular carry out trade so clearly popular. Very friendly. Recommended.
