Went on the Saturday before Christmas which must be one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants and the meal was superb. As a party of 6 we had one of the set meals and every item on there was tasty and cooked perfectly. Could not fault anything from the staff or the food quality. Would definitely recommend.

We went early on two occasions and we had a very nice experience. Very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble the food was excellent and very good value. Can’t wait to go again, Highly recommended.

First visit with friends who had been a few times before. Not the most extensive menu but a mixture of Cantonese and Thai options available. Friendly welcome. Staff were attentive and provided excellent customer service. All enjoyed our meals. Definitely return.

To be honest not worth it Staff doing their best for an owner who only seems to want your money. We paid £170 for 4 and to honest not worth £100 A take away from your local Chinese would be cheaper and yes tastier. Okay you might have to wash up.

We always enjoy visiting Jamps and go regularly. The food is excellent and so is the service which is friendly and helpful. They accommodate my coeliac problem very well too. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Food was lovely very once it arrived. There was only us and one other table in the restaurant but waited about 40 mins between starter and mains probably due to the takeaways that kept leaving the kitchen. Great that takeaways are doing so well but that shouldn’t be at the expense of diners receiving slow service.

Visited Jamps with friends, the food was excellent, but unfortunately the customer services was disappointing. The staff were constantly rushing around, nobody had the time to come over to the table to ask if everything was ok, and I have visited this restaurant many times in the past and this was by far my worst experience. They seem under staffed and they managed to get one of our dishes incorrect. Overall a disappointing experience.

We had not visited Jamps for a long time, we were not dissapointed. I wish we could have this experience at all of the places we have eaten. It is the little touches that make this place special. We were shown upstairs to a comfortable couch, where we were given menu's and asked for our drink order. The House Rose and Red were very pleasant. We were shown to our table, The smoked Chicken and Spring Rolls were delicious, next the Duck which was amazing. You are never rushed and can take a break. Main course was Sizzling Fillet Beef , and Chilli Fried Beef, delicious. Great food excellent service, can't be beaten.

As soon as we walked in Maxine was there to help. The place was packed and noisy, typical Friday night, brilliant. Got a drink straight away in the lounge area and we were seated within 10 minutes in a warm cosy corner. Staff were very attentive and helpful especially Paul. Our starters were delicious and our mains were equally so. A brilliant evening

Jamps is a firm favourite with our family and we had a lovely evening, the food was really nice , and the service was excellent, the staff very attentive, and lovely surroundings, the only downside was our bill, good job we checked we were over charged on drinks, I wouldn't normally say anything on TripAdvisor about this, but apparently this has happened twice previous to the family members we were with.

It was our first visit to Jamps last night but it won't be our last all the food was excellent well presented and hot. The staff were very friendly and efficient without being overbearing and it was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night.

Can't believe we've never been here before despite only being 5 minutes down the road. The staff were very friendly and polite, very attentive too. Most restaurants you would have to ask for a replacement of cutlery, however, wait staff were observant enough to notice...

Another fantastic takeaway from Jamps. The vegetarian amongst us appreciated the tasty tofu dishes. The vegetarian mince in lettuce leaves was also a hit.

This was not hospitality, we went for a meal to celebrate a 50th birthday, from the moment we entered to the moment we left it was awful. The young waiting staff were very good but the owners / managers were downright rude and unfriendly. The woman was barking orders at customers and the man had his mask under his nose most of the time and wasnt wiping menus as he passed them round the different tables. The food was reasonable and came quickly. We ordered more drinks and were barked at again about being out by 10pm and were we sure we could get them down us and be out by 10pm? We were trying to celebrate a 50th birthday but it was impossible, we requested the bill and yes they had added extra bottles of wine and starters and looked at us in disgust when we pointed out the mistakes. Spent over £500.00 on the evening and never heard a please or thank you or asked if everything was ok, nothing. Worst ever restaraunt experience.

We have been coming here for a long time and have to say this is the worst experience we have ever had. The service was less than average, we wanted starters and then followed by crispy duck but unfortunately the duck came out first so we delayed the starters only to find that the starters then came out 2 minutes later which we sent back as the waitress said the chef sent them out because they had been cooked regardless of what we wanted and how we wanted the food serving.The standard of food was also dissapointing, the fillet steak was almost un chewable, you couldn't remove the meat from the spare ribs and the satay sticks were that tough we had difficulty in getting them off the skewers.There also seemed to be a lot of young staff and very inexperienced, not what you need on a Saturday night!!!Sorry Jamps we won't be back anytime soon.

Went to the restaurant for a really lovely meal!, the first time we had dined out for 3 months, due to the coronavirus.We were met by a lovely lady in the bar area and directed upstairs to the restaurant, and although the staff all had PPE on, they made our visit very nice and welcoming and the meal was top notch, we will definetely be visiting again in the near future, all Government guide lines were in place, all in all well done to Jamps!!

Best quality chinese food I have experiences, suroundings excellect and great just to have a drink in the bar - cant reccomend enough

Good food nice atmosphere reasonable prices the regular staff are very helpful and polite. However, some of the extra staff they use on busy days are not so polite, a watchful eye by senior staff Is needed. Would definitely recommend.

This meal was to have been rather special as it was our 57th Wedding Anniversary but unfortunately the service was dreadful even though there was plenty of staff.Asked if we would like to wait 5minutes for our main course but we said no,we would prefer it straight away so warm plates were brought in and then we waited 15 minutes for our meal.We had to ask for hot plates .....the meal was delicious but we were neglected.Then a large party came in and were served almost immediatelySelective service! The atmosphere was noisy but hey it's Christmas no problem with that.To crown it all we asked for the bill , waited 5 minutes then had to for it again.We were both very disappointed

Definetly one of the top 5 Chinese restaurants in Yorkshire in my opinion any way lol the place looks and feels classy the staff are friendly the owners are usually working in and around and the food is beautiful if your ever in it nr thick hill give it a try

Food was excellent, service was prompt, polite and genuine, really enjoyed the meal. First time we have visited but the beats the big place in Bawtry hands down on all fronts. Will have no hesitation going back to try other things on the extensive menu. Good value large portions. Excellent

It felt a bit bland and not much atmosphere on the evening we went for my birthday. The food was ok but didn’t wow me or my guest. The service was good and attentive. It didn’t feel like we was in a Chinese restaurant (decor wise). The food was hot and did taste fresh but not a lot of seasoning or taste

We had a lovely time at Jamps on the weekend. It was a last minute decision to go for a chinese and so we hadn't booked, however, after a very short wait they got us a table for 5. The food was delicious and plenty of it. Would highly recommend.

We went here for a family birthday. When we got here we were greeted by an extremely rude woman, who i am told is the owner. This woman made us all feel very uncomfortable. The beer take stale. I give credit to the chef as the food was amazing. Sadly due to the service we will not be returning. Would not recommend.

Always come here for big family occasions. Owner and staff are very friendly. They have a great range of food and accommodating for vegetarians. Would highly recommend this place

Check your takeaway order. Food was great, just make sure you check your bag if having a takeaway, if items are missing they will do nothing to replace or compensate.

Twelve of us enjoyed a very pleasant evening for our granddaughters 16th birthday. The food and service on a busy evening was very good. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. No hesitation in recommending James will certainly be dining there again.

We decided to try Jamps for a change to our usual restaurant. The bar area that you first walk into is very snug and looks fairly upmarket. When we were taken upstairs for our meal the stairs could possible be a little difficult for an elderly person or not very mobile. We ordered the set meal A for £23pp and it was lovely apart from the chicken dish which was quite bland and not tasting of anything much. The staff were all very polite and friendly.

Tried a takeaway from here for the first time as our local takeaways are nothing to write home about, only decent being China Rose in Bawtry which is a little pricey for a takeaway but you pay for quality. We certainly won’t be coming ordering from here again.

6 of us visited on Saturday night for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was very busy. The food was excellent we could not fault it in any way. My wife and I eat here fairly often although we had not been for a while due to my wife's illness. This was actually our first night out for several months. It was an excellent decision to go to Jamps.

I’d been coming here since it opened,however for one reason or another,over the last two years it’s been more infrequent,but recently the quality has got gradually worse.

Went to Jamps to celebrate a friends birthday. We had one of the set menu meals for 4. The food was all fantastic throughout & great service. We will definitely return in the near future.

I took a group of 10 friends here for a birthday celebration. As usual the staff were great, attentive, but not rushing us. The food was wonderful, and all as ordered, considering it was a lot. Everyone commented, that their choices were spot on. In fact there seemed to be so much, so value as always(it did all get eaten).

First time we have visited James. Food was very nice but we wished that the dining area was downstairs as one or two of us had trouble walking upstairs and if we wanted a drink we had to go downstairs and bring it back to the table.

Met friends for nice evening meal out which was a nice time. The price was nice for the set meal we all had. And at the end the manager who come over to Ask if we had a nice evening and ask if we like a drink on her which we said that be very nice of her.

This is a really lovely restaurant with excellent food in beautiful surroundings! The decor is antique Georgian English but the food is sumptuous Chinese! We had the banquet for two and enjoyed all of it along with an excellent bottle of Pinot!

The food was terrible, Prawns with spring onions and ginger.....white slimey prawns in a watery sauce with no hint of ginger. Beef in black bean sauce....tasteless. Atmosphere....doctors waiting room. Pictures of laughing cavalier and old people on the wall. Waiting room music in the background. Young staff with no idea. Complaint brushed over. An expensive waste of an evening. Will not return.

Rare opportunity to see my daughter and persuaded my I've to join us, she's vegan and struggles with Chinese options. No problems for two of us had a great meal, healthy size portions and tasty dishes. Veggie starters were lovely but the stir fry a veggie main was bland. My. Main criticism was the added duck and pancakes was served alongside the minced pork and lettuce rather than as2 separate courses. The mains were just warm and plate warmer trays were ineffective.

Great location, good parking. Always a chance to have a pre meal drink. The menu is never overwhelming like many restaurants. Good service, overlooked by an Owner/Manager who definitely knows his business. I honestly can say I have enjoyed every meal I have had at Jamps. (And we eat in a lot of Chinese restaurants)

Such delicious dishes and a good selection of food on the menu. We have dined here several times with different people and it’s one of our top recommendations. Takeaway is just as lovely although abit pricier than your normal takeaway but worse it as it’s soooo nice! Lots of places to park in the carpark at the back or on the road. Gets quite busy so I recommend you book in advance. Nice that you can have a drink in the bar before been seated!

Ordered a meal for 3 from menu on the internet. No delivery available. We went to collect our meal and it was not as ordered. When queried told take away menu different to advertised. £19+ pp however only the amount of food you would expect for 2 from anywhere else. We needed to cook pizza from freezer to provide enough food and we don't have big appetites. Food nothing special definately over rated and over priced.

4 of us booked for 9pm on a Saturday evening! It was busy but we had a drink downstairs while we ordered. Set menu for 4 but swapped a couple of dishes. Shown to our table at about 9.40. Mixed starters and duck arrived which were very nice. Wrong main courses brought (waitress had written down wrong set menu letter!) and quality not as good as expected. Fun started as we were finishing up. Several waiting staff started to clear and clean the table and remove the table cloth, obviously trying to hasten our departure. We asked them to wait but then had 2 separate people come and explain to us that that’s what they always do. 2 bills arrived from 2 separate people for 2 different amounts. No apologies given for lateness of being seated, getting the meal wrong, rushing us out at the end or getting the bill wrong. Majority of serving staff seem to lack personalities and were on auto pilot. Guess what? We won’t be returning!

Booked a table for 8.30pm....... didnt get seated until 9.10pm. Not a major issue for us as we were not in a rush, but a bit of communication would have been nice. We did sit in the bar area so no great problem. The food we ordered was very good. We opted for individual dishes rather than the set meals on offer..... they seemed pretty expensive for what you get (£25pp then your drinks on top). Our bill was £50 in total with a drink. A starter to share, a dish each then a rice and some noodles....... plenty for two of us. All in all enjoyable.

Average Chinese restaurant, the food the service and the surrounding, as it was an early valentines treat for my wife it was such a shame, if your wanting good Chinese go China rose in Bawtry! Don’t waste your money here!

A party of 5 to include a 9 year old boy, a pre booking, a warm welcome,sat and chose our food with a drink, excellent choice of wines and good beers,( as a party we chose the house rose ) which was very good, taken to our table after about 15 mins where our food was served,we had two for the set menues A & B and because there would plenty we were advised that it would be enough for the five of us, which it was, unfortunately none of us had room for a desert, we looked and all looked very nice.

Where to begin. Probably at the stripey receptionist. Had they had not said it would be ready in 20 minutes we would not of been there after about 25 - 30 mins. After my partner waited for around 10 mins she was told that the receptionist would go check if we had ordered something, I'm not too sure why someone would lie about this but she assumed we did. That carried on for another 20 minutes of waiting when we were told the chef maybe being sarcastic but it would be around 3.5 minutes. When we got home the issues were ironically it was all terribly overcooked and extremely dry. My poor German Shepard nearly broke his teeth on the chicken SATAY (chip shop curry sauce). As for the rest:-

As my wife is vegan and doesn't particularly like Chinese food it was good to have the opportunity to visit Jamps and spend some time with my daughter, as we are not together over Christmas. My first visit to Jamps in ages and overall we really enjoyed it. Service was spot on although it was quite busy all staff were very attentive. We went for a set menu for 2 but added an extra dish, it was overall a lovely meal, the crispy duck was delicious, minced pork and lettuce was a little dry but tasty, sweet& sour chicken I loved but my daughter preferred the Cantonese Steak, we both felt the Prawn Satay lacked a little punch. Overall we were happy and testimony to that is nothing was left.

Well my first visit and it won’t be my last . I must say it was the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had . Amazing place set in the heart of Tickhill near Doncaster the staff very friendly with a family atmosphere . I’d also say it looks like a nice place to stop and have a glass of wine or two. As the bar and dining area are are there own little Gems 5 stars all round . I will be back soon

We’re regulars both in the restaurant and for take out - so we know this is a great go-to for Chinese food.

Living in Bawtry the China Rose is our usual place to visit for a decent Chinese meal, but thought we would give Jamps a try on a Saturday evening.

Four of us celebrated a birthday here. We all had the set menu and it was very good. Good service and great food are a good combination and we had both. We will definitely be back.

Nice little place. Good parking facilities in main car park in middle of tickhill. Great bar to have a drink in whilst waiting to be seated. Upstairs is huge was very surprised. Food really good and tasty! Will defiantly return.

Excellent food and service.We had a mixture of dishes to go with wine and all the food was really tasty. if anybody has mobility issues going up stairs ,It is possible on weekdays to book to eat downstairs and we did this in a really cosy room with access to downstairs bar and disabled toilet facility.We will go back.

We were made to feel we shouldnt be there by an older member of the staff who seemed to be in charge ( there was a couple of big groups coming in ).The first 2 courses of minced pork and duck were lovely , then we had set meal D for our table which wasnt good at all. Twice the gentleman got our drinks wring the second time my husband never got his, so we ordered the bill an left. Very disappointing for my husbands birthday.I would recommend going elsewhere .

Visited this place for the first time for a family celebration.We usually go to The China Rose but thought we would have a change and try Jamps out. Pleased to say,we made the right choice. Excellent food with great staff in a fantastic setting. Good choice on the menu with the usual set meals. Slightly cheaper than The China Rose but no difference in quality. If you like Chinese food, try Jamps you wont be disappointed....

Writing a review on a restaurant is something I have never done before, as I am a very easy going person who does not like to complain or offend. However myself, and those with me, were appalled by the management and attitude of some staff whilst dining at this restaurant. I dined at this restaurant as part of a large family group and we were celebrating a very important occasion. There were so many issues we faced over the course of our evening and to say we had booked the table due to an important celebration, no effort was made to address our issues which could have easily been solved with better customer service. The list of disappointments are too long to mention, hence we will not be returning. Some of the members of staff that we encountered were very polite and tried to resolve our issues. It is such a shame they were let down by poor management, who obviously do not believe in putting the customers first.

Seven of us visited to celebrate a birthday and Jamps delivered a great night. We had a set meal and every element of it was delicious. There was ample food for everyone with a great service all through the meal. This is a regular restaurant for us and it was as good as ever.

This is a great place to eat and the staff are very attentive. Take away however is a different story. Whilst the food is the same always check as 3 time my order has been wrong. This aside great food and reasonably priced

Lucky enough to have this gorgeous Chinese on my doorstep. This visit was for my daughters 21st and the restaurant is well organised for larger parties and the food as always was top quality. The schezwan pork is to die for totally delicious and if you don't want to party they do take away to an equally high standard

On a recent visit to friends in Tickhill we really enjoyed the takeaway service from this restaurant, not having the time on this occasion to dine in. We were very impressed, the food was hot, plentiful and delicious. Now looking forward to our next visit, when hopefully we can eat in the restaurant.

Had set meal B for two. Everything was tasty, well cooked and reasonable size portions. The waiting staff are young but we had no problems what so ever. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff delivered our pre bought cake to the table just when we wanted and boxed it up again so we could take the rest home. Great night with great food.

Time tends to fly by,so it must be at least a year since our last visit to Jamps.We live in Bawtry and obviously we are spoilt by the wide choice of restaurants,howeverwe always enjoy venturing the few miles to Tickhill.I had a takeaway from Jamps around two weeks ago and felt that it wasn't up to their normal standard.I gave them the benefit of the doubt and just put it down to the fact that it was a takeaway.So we decided to book a table and dine in the restaurant.Unfortunately that confirmed to me that the quality had declined since our last visit.We always had the seafood mixed platter for a starter,so being very predictable we ordered it again.All,I can think of is that they now have a different head chef because it wasn't a patch on previous visits,and for £17.60 you would certainly expect better.They even scrimped on the size as well,with only a very small amount of seaweed offered.Also the mains were also lacking.The staff were fantastic as per usual,and the wines reasonably priced.It's not put us off going again,but I just hope things turn around before our next visit.
