Oriental Palace in Doncaster

Went here for the first time last weekend. The owner is amazing, wait staff very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Was made to feel very welcome and was well looked after. Cannot make any fault with this restaurant and will recommend highly.

First visit to this small but perfectly formed restaurant. Warm welcome on arrival. Excellent service by attentive staff. Crispy Duck for starter was arguably the best I have ever had. All enjoyed our generous proportion main meals. Will definitely be returning.

This family run restaurant will not disappoint, from the moment you walk in the door until you leave. The food and service is always excellent, the staff are attentive. We've been more than a few times and on every occasion we have not been disappointed

Friendly staff and good service, however the food wasn't great. We had a set meal for 2. The starters and the duck pancakes wear lovely, the main dishes had very little meat on, sweet and sour prawns were just 4 prawns. The meat was quite tough aswell. I felt the quality would be okay for a takeaway but as a nice meal out not so good.

Been here a number of times and will be coming back religiously. This place has the best food of this kind i have tasted and has become my go to place. The staff are super friendly, humorous, and helpful, and the service is always fast even when it is busy.

The price does not reflect the quality of the food whatsoever, the “hot and spicy chow mein” was merely a very small tin of plain soft noodles, no flavour to them at all. “Salt and pepper chips” had zero salt or pepper about them, satay chicken very bland; just a piece of pre bought chicken on a stick and a small tub of satay sauce? Saving grace may have been the prawns but when the entire takeout costs £50 you expect a certain high standard of food, of which this is not, it’s bland and rushed ( food was ready to collect 10/15 mins maximum after putting the phone down). It was our first time ordering here as I’ve heard a lot of hype over the years, first and the last time.

The meal last night was delicious,staff friendly and service good. Would recommend this restaurant food any time. Not relevant to the food but the reception fish tank needed a serious clean up and the poor fish didn’t appear to have enough oxygenated water 😟

This is by far THE BEST food in South Yorkshire!! We eat in sometimes but usually have a takeaway on a Friday night. The staff are so lovely and they know my other half by name 🤣 Sean.

Great atmosphere, and the staff are amazing. Food is superb and there is a great selection. I can't recommend here enough.

I ordered takeaway from the restaurant, not the takeaway (dragon house)that is part of the same shops. We have done this a few times to get restaurant quality food but have it at home. However on this occasion any takeaway would have been better. I don’t know what had happened but the food was worse than a bad takeaway. It felt like they had ordered it in from a takeaway the week before. The prawns were dry and covered in black bits, the duck was like rubber and impossible to chew , chips were old and dry and the chicken curry was indescribable bad. This is not what we have ever experienced before. It couldn’t be worse… apart from a few bites it went in the bin. It is disappointing because it was my wife’s birthday treat but we prefer to eat at home because of my physical condition. All times previously (2 or 3).. it has been perfect. I felt like they took offence to us buying takeaway.

Went today Thursday 14 Dec., our second lunchtime visit. Fantastic food, superb quality ingredients. Owner Wendy is so lovely, husband excellent chef.

The owner is an amazing lady, one of the nicest people you can meet. The food is excellent, all the staff are lovely. You will not regret going to this place.

Great Chinese food - both to eat in and also to take away. Wide-ranging menu (and if they dont have it listed, ask them - they are very flexible), friendly staff, and tasty food. But for me, what really impressed us was when they realised they had overcharged us, they called us up to admit to the error and then asked if we wanted a refund or a voucher to offset against a future purchase.

Staff were friendly. Food was freshly cooked, nice and hot. Is a little expensive but expected for the food.

Not good. Unfortunately locals don't have much choice! Rather get a Chinese takeout from Waitrose/M&S

2nd visit to this excellent restaurant. The owner is lovely, friendly welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Food is also excellent. We had a set meal for 2 this visit and it was delicious good value for money. Definitely be back and I highly recommend it. 👌

First visit Friday lunchtime. Superb food, best menu variety I've seen in a long time, friendly staff. Will be back soon, I highly recommend this restaurant.

I travel here 30 mins drive every week it’s by far the best I’ve tasted … the staff and owner are lovely very down to earth and welcoming. The food is amazing!! We have tried so many dishes to which love them all. Reading some views from others with 1 star is just crazy , honestly this is the best about by far

Such a lovely family-run business. You are always made to feel welcome. You can choose from a menu or they have a number of set meals. The food is really nice and plentiful. I think the fact that they are fully booked and always busy speaks for itself I would also say it is a wheelchair-friendly restaurant as there are no steps and everything is on one level. I Would definitely recommend this restaurant

We went last night for a meal for my 10 yrs old daughter’s birthday. It was her choice for a Chinese meal. The food was great but the service from the lady, who I believe is the owner, was terrible. My daughter is just starting out eating this cuisine, so it is all new to her. She chose something off the menu, but it was from the ‘hot’ section. She didn’t know, we didn’t know but the lady’s attitude was not sensitive. She then was rushing my daughter to make a decision. I did intervene but my daughter was already upset. I wish we would have walked out but we’d already got a round of drinks and I didn’t really know how upset my daughter was until too late. It was obvious that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday but there was no mention of it until we were walking out of the door. We will not be back due to the woman’s brusque attitude.

Best Chinese food I have ever tasted! The restaurant is spotlessly clean. Very well furnished, plenty of space between tables. The lady who served us was really friendly and very accommodating to our wishes. Strongly recommend this restaurant

Excellent choice of food and attentive service. Went as a birthday party. We will go back as a couple the set menu's are very reasonable. The food is beautifully prepared. Fresh fruit to finish .

Not the first time we have eaten here so knew we wouldn't be disappointed . Staff friendly and attentive, food divine only downside was the limited time we had in the restaurant due to the next table booking so it felt quite rushed.

Very clean restaurant throughout, not a large eating area with 8 or 9 tables Comphrehensive Menu to select from. Prices above what you'd expect for a Chinese Restaurant, but the quality justifies the cost. Well worth a visit

New Years Eve set meal, great food and lovely staff

Would never go anywhere else for Chinese, once you’ve tried it you’ll never try another again, the best around! Definitely recommend the salt and pepper ribs, any any of the duck dishes too!

Our first visit to this Chinese restaurant and I must say we were not disappointed. Food was excellent service friendly,we will definitely be visiting again. We would recommend this lovely restaurant but it's a small venue so always best to book a table.

We went as a party of 10 with 4 of us having birthdays this month and to simplify things we ordered the set meals for two --- more than enough excellent food served by pleasant staff and a character of a manager who made us welcome and couldn't do enough for us ---- and to cap it all 4 small individual birthday treats complete with candles --- to be recommended both for food and service by 10 very happy diners

Managed to squeeze us in quite early, but was worth coming early. Food was fabulous and staff are all lovely. I would strongly recommend this restaurant

We have been coming here for around four years. If we could give more stars we would. The food is perfect, the vibe is good and the service is excellent. Wendy the owner is just the best. Never had a bad meal here, it is consistently perfect and we are total food snobs and critique so it must be good. We come as often as we can and will for years to come! Highly recommend. 10/10

Best Chinese I've had in Doncaster.

The Oriental Palace is our go to Chinese and has been since we discovered it about a year ago. The service is great, the owner and staff are lovely and welcoming and the food is amazing. I love the curry parcels and haven't found anything like these elsewhere! Also the sweetcorn and garlic fried rice is to die for. Definitely recommend!

This place is an institution for a good reason. They continue to turn out amazing Cantonese food day after day, month after month and year after year. Super friendly service and good sized portions. Highly recommended.

Booked a table and given a table that was placed at the point people squeeze in and out. Whilst ordering the food the manager advised us that chicken curry with peas and onions is not what you would get from proper restaurant, and she went...

The food we ordered was very mediocre despite the impression given by the person who took our order. They made a big fuss when we asked about the ingredients in the curry and explained that their food contained better quality ingredients than a typical takeout...

Had a takeaway with our friends for my 70th Birthday. Went there before lockdown and had a great meal. Unfortunately we were greatly disappointed. Meal was bland and overcooked.

So glad to get back here after lockdown. Always delicious food and fantastic service. Can't beat it. Already booked in for our next date night x

We visited oriental palace as was down for the local event of fishomania at hayfield lakes and the reviews looked good - we was seated fastly and ordered some drinks We then ordered our starter, me and my GF got half a duck and pancakes...

We chose here after reading reviews, salt content in gravy was shocking which ruined our meals as a family, first time also last for us, expensive takeaway!!

First time visiting today, my boyfriend and I came out for a Saturday night date. We was given such a lovely warm welcome. Its so cosy inside. The food was amazing, so fresh and tasty. We took the rest of ours home. I can’t believe how well priced the food is too. Great value for money. We will definitely be coming back.

Great food, great service. Tables maybe slightly close together, but a very enjoyable evening.

Decided to try here as some where different as our normal Chinese was shut and so glad we did. Food was delicious and they even catered for my mum who's coeliac. It was her first proper Chinese in about 5 years so she was over the moon when they were able to cater for her.
