Oriental Garden Chinese Restaurant in Breckland

Food portions have been made too small, problems communicating leading to mistake in order. Pork wonton soup came to be undercooked turkey.

The food was good- served hot and tasty. Would happily go back the next time I am in the area.

Great food, service excellent and not a long wait. Very clean, bright and airy inside.

Had delivery food very bland this is second time now throuth try again give benefit of doubt but no still very bland and £2 over the price on leaflet asked for new one to check didn't get not going to order again 😒special fried rice looked like boiled not good 🤔

We had an expensive stay at Centre Parcs and on the way home thought we would try a sit down Chinese and found this place, tbh the pictures dont flatter it but we chanced our arm and the Food was excellent portions may be small for some people , service was great, the only downside id say was the Coke and Lemonade was from 2ltr bottles and the desserts weren't great but overall it was a great find and parking free round the corner - Well worth a visit !

Gave them a try as our usual go to places were closed. It really wasn't good unfortunately. Curry sauce and chicken balls were OK. Chips were good! Pancake rolls incredibly greasy, chicken and the beef chow meins were awful. Tasted plasticy and it honestly looked like a can of the cheap supermarket chicken or beef in gravy with peas and carrots had been added to noodles. I asked for a pot of satay sauce and it was truly like someone had watered down unsweetened peanut butter - I'm convinced that's what it was as I've never had a satay like that from anywhere. Prawn crackers were minus the prawn flavour. Really disappointing takeaway and waste of money sadly.

Lovely restaurant. atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Chinese music within and decorated with Chinese ornaments. Food is indulgent. BBQ ribs are the best in town

The food is a good price for the quantity that you get . Been looking for a place to eat good food and now we have found it .you can't go wrong if you like oriental food

The food was good, not very busy, and they were willing to go off the menu a bit.

We shared a set menu meal £19 per head which we thought was good value. Drinks were well priced too.

Heard shouting coming from the kitchen , couldn’t enjoy my food

Not sure if we’re used to exceptional Chinese but this was awful, salt and pepper chips were bland and soggy. Satay chicken came dry and the source was just wet peanut butter. In general food was bland and salty. We ordered half a duck and half of it was fat and gristle

I have eaten in this establishment many times in recent years. The quality of the food is some of these best that I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. Unlike others, I have never had problems with service. It has been perfectly OK. Perhaps the waiters are not professionals in dinner suits - they are young girls with limited experience but that is fine by me. The restaurant does not have an 'intimate' atmosphere but is is very clean and functional. Furthermore it is exceptional value for money. I cannot recommend this restaurant too highly

We ordered a take away they said it would be 45 minutes, gave our name, set off to get it, got there only to be greeted with sorry we haven’t got an order with your name, well I’m always making orders for takeaways travelling 3 miles to get it knowing that I hadn’t made the order in the first place, absolutely disgusting way to treat regular customers, and i will not be using this place again, a totally shocking way to treat people, and I will be telling all my friends and family not to use this place EVER!!

We ordered only to be told they had not taken our order, i am always ordering things waiting 45 minutes, driving 3 miles to get it , knowing that i had made the whole thing up, disgusting way to be treated as a regular customer, well no longer a regular as i will be telling everyone not to trust this place with any type of order, shocking way to be treated.

Such a shame. Ate tonight in the restaurant. Never again. Food as always spot on Service awful. Staff rude. Our food was taken to the wrong table. When realised they collected from wrong table and literally chucked on our table. Wasn’t asked who had what just put in front of anyone. They then continued to bring food to our table and 3 times we said nope not our table. Asked for drinks and anyone would have thought we had asked for the world. Waitress not impressed we asked and gave us the dirtiest look ever. Had to also ask 3 times for the drink. Love this Chinese and will have take away but never again will we eat in here.

First time here and very impressed, I will definitely be coming back. Food was really good, especially the mixed starter and quality of duck for the pancakes. Good value and quick service. We loved it and took the food we couldn’t heat home for the next day!

What an amazing food The food was hot service was great at the banquet meal highly recommend it.

The food is Amazing probably because it is so fresh. Good portions. Service was not poor just needed to be speeded up a bit. Only gave 3 for atmosphere as we came very early no one else here. But very clean and looks good. Would love to come back but very expensive.

Went in to order and the the Chinese guy taking my order needs a lesson in public relations, Very rude no manners at all. Now the food terrible bland no seasoning in the food at all tastes just like those Chinese take away meals from supermarkets.

Lovely food at reasonable prices with very polite and friendly staff. The premises appear to be very clean. As previously mentioned, excellent food ,particularly the pancake rolls. Thank you, hope to visit again soon

Oriental Garden never disappoints!

We have eaten here since it’s opening and always found the food delicious. The manager has always been courteous and polite . However , this evening was a horror story from the offset thanks to the two front of house servers . Neither have any idea how to communicate on a professional or personal level . We endured listening to personal calls taken on their mobile phones while they ignored customers . We ordered the 3 course set meal and were brought our main first ! I had to remind them that we hadn’t had any starters yet . This prompted a ‘Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare’ experience listening to the front of house staff and the kitchen staff shouting about who had made the error . After patiently awaiting out starters , we were brought 3 small plates , positioned in front of each of us , which was followed by the staff member shouting ‘ errrm no ‘ before she snatched them back and rushed them to a different table . Not one word communicated to us throughout. While still waiting for our starters , we watch one of the servers take them to a table and look confusedly around . It took me to call her over and ask if they were ours for us to get them . Incidentally there were only 3 tables in the restaurant that had people at them , it wasn’t exceptionally busy . Overall the food was as nice as ever , excluding the hoisin sauce for our duck from which I pulled two very long curly black hairs .

Food is great and the manager is a delight, but the service is the worst I've ever experienced anywhere. Serving staff consisted of two young girls who showed a complete inability to handle human interactions professionally or personally. We were brought the wrong food twice. One server tried to defuse the situation by blaming the other. Our food was accidentally thrown in the bin by one of the servers instead of being boxed up for us. Once again the other server was blamed for the mistake right in front of us. Servers clearly had no idea what they were doing from the moment we stepped through the door. Our food was given to other people. Overall it felt like an episode of kitchen nightmares.

First time we tried this restaurant and were not disappointed. Nicely set tables with tasteful decor. The food itself was great and without doubt the best we have eaten outside of London Chinatown. Top marks to the chef who we believe is the owner. Shame we don’t live in Thetford, otherwise we would be eating there on a regular basis.

We're staying at Thorpe Forest and had food from here previous. Just as tasty this time, set meal for 3 plus a few extras, very little leftover... Nice way to end the holiday.

Food very good and obviously freshly cooked, seems to have become quite expensive and portions a bit smaller. Drinks a bit disappointing as no lemon for gins or vodkas etc....not as though there isn't a shop close by.

Ordered take out prawn balls, prawn toast and king prawn rice... everything was cooked well except the sweet and sour sauce is a little vinegary.. Super quick delivery and good telephone service..will definitely use again

Lovely food spotless clean feindly staff

I ordered a vegetable fried rice and king prawn balls for take away. Although the smell made my mouth water as I drove back to my destination, I was so disappointed with the rice that was super salty and the prawn balls that were greasy. Hunger forced me to eat the prawn balls but the rice was inedible and I threw it away after a few mouthfuls. I read the positive reviews before travelling to this restaurant but would never eat from here again.

Excellent and delicious Chinese food, friendly staff and located quite central to town. Staff also provided utensils for takeaway, which was excellent especially when we were travelling around.

Was pleasantly surprised with our meal out, the decor was fresh and inviting and the atmosphere was serene, our food was delicious and we didn't have to wait long for it to arrive, overall we were in the building for an hour total. And we highly recommend this to anyone seeking a nice Chinese meal. We will definitely be back

Poor quality Chinese food, even for British Chinese restaurant quality. Had a hot n sour soup which was probably the worse soup that I have ever had, it was not sour or spicy which it should be but it was overly sweet and acidic. It was not enjoyable. Also the prices were very expensive for the quality of food, unfortunately I will not be returning

Great meal everytime, did get order wrong once , but apart from, good and reasonable price. Order before opening time for best service, sit down meal also good.

The meals were outstanding the service was excellent including the prawn toast if your in Thetford give this restaurant a go

We go here for family meals. Enough room for all 14 of us. More then enough choice ie food. Drinks average price staff are polite and helpful dinner is served quickly. We enjoy our food here. I normaly have the sea bass as its cooked to perfection. 🙂

Booked a table for a Tuesday night but it was very busy. Could hear there was delays and only one person serving. We ordered food and it took a while. Ordered starters but they didn’t come first. They brought two rices and ribs. Ribs were starters and rice part of mains. She asked “is there anything else?”. We said yes, the mains and the other starter. Took a while with the rice going cold for the rest to arrive. Food I will say was nice, however no serving spoons or condiments. Asked for the bill, it didn’t come. Went to the desk to pay and the server was rude and abrupt. I paid, and was told “done”. We just left.

Tasty food and service was good. They close at 10pm though so felt a little rush as about 9.15pm we ordered some desserts and a glance at the clock was noted. Good food though. Would recommend.

My wife and I ordered a takeaway to celebrate my birthday as a substitute for going out during lockdown. It was pre-ordered and pre-paid, and arrived on the dot of 6pm as requested. Value was excellent; we were able to enjoy two meals from it...

For me this place has the best food around Thetford, I found the prawn toast just delicious and every dish just to good to be real ,the freshness of the ingredients, the smooth of the spices not overpowering and the price really good. I've been using this place for quite a while and never had any problems or anything against the quality of the food or service, would recommend, and i would like to say thanks to all that are working in this place,thank you for all the marvellous foods that you provide.

This Chinese restaurant had been recommended to us. Food was very good and very quick service. The only thing that let it down was the fact that I had ordered special chow mein but received special fried rice. It was incredibly salty. The prawn toast was the some of the best we have ever eaten.

Chicken fried rice tasted and smelled of cheese indicating it had gone off. Really disappointed in the standards relating to food safety. As a food safety auditor/consultant and teacher I have some experience so do not make this complaint lightly.

just had my order of chicken balls with curry sauce and chilli fried beef. The chicken was freshly cooked moist and tender, nice light batter. The beef was perfect, the sauce lovely and thick. It couldnt have been better I dont think, and from phone call to delivery 20 mins. 10/10 from me.

Always amazing food!!! The Thai green curry is definitely my favourite dish on the menu and the prawn toast is the best I have ever had. In the pic we have Thai green curry, crispy chilli beef, salt & pepper squid, mushroom rice & steamed broccoli with ginger.
