Oriental Express in Horsham

We have been buying take-outs from here from a few years now. Previously the food has been very good and the Oriental Express has been one of our favourites. Unfortunately, the past two occasions have been very disappointing, the food has been tough to eat and overcooked. The prawn crackers were stale. Has there been a change of chef?

Well what a disappointment! The food tasted awful, overcooked (or multiple re-heats?) ribs were like cardboard, Tom yam soup bears no resemblance to the real thing, chicken did not taste freshly cooked. The prawn toast was a very strange colour and again, tasteless. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Was recommended by my brother-in-law he said that it was the best always had good meals even takes a beer in to the male owner . How wrong was he 🙄 the meal was awful . After picking up our meal of Beef curry chicken fried rice, king prawn in black bean sauce, noodles, homemade pancake roll and sesame prawn toast. First thing we notice the overpowering smell of fish so bad we had to open the window of the car. King prawn in black bean sauce swimming in sauce the beef in the curry was so tough and as for the prawn toast which was a very funny colour and was were the the overpowering smell was coming from all ended in the bin have to say we were so disappointed and was £32 down the drain

This takeaway is the go to for me and my family. The menu is huge and the food is always good. I have never had a bad meal from them, the chilli salt squid is the best ever and the portion sizes are huge.The only bad thing is that they don't deliver.

I dont like leaving bad reviews but after choosing to order a takeaway from this Chinese based on other reviews I felt I had to post this in the hope it will save someone from having the experience that I had. In our takeaway we had the honey ribs which smelt like cheese and tasted vile, the chicken chow mein was bland except from the off beansprouts that provided a slimy texture and earthy taste, the smoked shredded chicken which was neither smoked or shredded but instead was soggy chunks of chicken with onions. At this point we decided to throw the rest in the bin in fear of getting ill

This is the best Chinese takeout in the area. We have lived here 8 years and only when theyare closed for renovations do we go else where for our takeawat meals They did go a bit downhlll but have coeme back up agin, there's always plenty of the main ingredients like prawn or chicken.

Great selection of Chinese/Thai/Malay style food to suit all tastes. Never skimps on the chilli and having seen the deliveries no MSG - I think they use potato starch. Quick service and opposite Tesco so meal time sorted. Pity they shut the chippy (when Fuller’s was close for fire damage! madness)

This is a firm family favourite even after they stopped delivery we don’t go anywhere else we went this evening for my sons birthday first class as always we had everything from chow main to satay chicken all really good and nice and hot.I have lived abroad for many years having Chinese food nearly everyday and this is first class.Enjoy when you go.

After a busy day we decided to get a Chinese take away from this restaurant for the first time in about eighteen months to round off Mother's Day.The restaurant only takes cash which I don't think was clearly marked but which was not a problem for me. There is also an ATM nearby.Menu is clear and the service efficient. The food came quickly enough and was hot.First the good - the egg fried rice, plain noodles and chicken balls were all fine. The dry spare ribs were good.Then things started to go wrong. I could taste all the elements of the beef in ginger and spring onion, but there was an over-riding chemical flavour which took away any enjoyment form the dish. The duck in pineapple I expected to be duck slices but were duck cubes, about 1.5 cm cube - and very pale (possibly undercooked?). Not an enjoyable experience. Finally the sweet and sour sauce which was fluorescent red and had a pure chemical flavour - again quite unpleasant.I purchased enough to give us an enjoyable meal and enough for two people as 'left-overs' the next day. Sadly, recognising how little we had enjoyed it, at least half of the meal went in the bin. As someone who generally dislikes waste this was a very disappointing experience which I would think about twice before repeating.

If you want a decent takeaway the Oriental Express in Billingshurst does what the name suggests, providing Chinese, Thai or Malaysian food in a timely manner. When I placed a telephone order they quoted it would be ready in 10 minutes and true to their word it was waiting for me when I called in to pick it up. The food was tasty and the portions generous. They don't take credit cards; cash only.

Always use them for our takeaways. Rang order through & was ready 10 mins later exactly as they said it would be.

We had a very tasty meal of numerous, varying dishes from Chichekn curry & chips to Thai red curry, with a couple of chow meins, some special fried ric,e, topped off with crispy seaweed. All nice & hot on collections.

I've been getting takeaways from this Chinese for about 4 years and I've never had a bad meal. Always friendly and the food is great, thats all you can ask for really.
