Oriental Express in Gosport

First time trying here, safe to say we enjoyed the food! Lovely staff and place, I love that you can see the kitchen and watch them make the food in progress.

Food is always good and always come real fast

Ordered a takeaway…was very good, full flavour food. However, I ordered a Beef with Ginger and Spring onion…Only 2 small slices of Ginger, and no Spring onion at all, instead loaded with sliced white onion. Not as described!

I am addicted to their chicken fried rice! Garlic chips is also really nice. Staff are always friendly. Parking is not usually a problem depending on time of day

Had some chow mein with curry sauce and it was quite nice. Do recommend

Food was dry no sauce delivered soggy chicken 😒 chicken balls had oil dripping off them and the bbq ribs had no flavour at all

Ordered from here for over 10 years now always been amazing but the last few months been getting worse and worse its now disgusting makes me ill everytime I order from there now and the food just isn't nice anymore such a shame

Went to the place to make an order in house and ordered a plain chow mein,roast pork curry with egg fried rice, pancake roll and crispy shredded chilli beef.been here dozens of times as it is only a 5 min walk from my house.staff always friendly and like previous reviews it is an "open" kitchen , so you can see you order being cooked right infront of you! Looks clean and tidy inside.got home and was enough for me and my Mrs and there was plenty for the two or us and my 7 Yr old son.order came to around 22 quid.all piping hot and tasted amazing.always go here maybe once or twice a month.things are getting more expensive but no more than other places too nowadays.you get what you pay for here.free prawn crackers with my order.if I ask for a few fortune cookies every now and again for us they are always happy to give them for no charge.highly recommended

Always wrong order get someone who understands English on the phones !!!

We ordered chicken in black bean sauce, special chow mein, mushroom curry and vegetable fried rice. No rice was delivered so I call and they came back with egg dried rice for curry but no vegetable fried rice. Said they would call the order in but still waiting…. Definitely won’t be ordering from them again and will tell others of our experience.

First meal from here was special chow me in. It's in the bin. I have never tasted anything so slimey. Wouldn't recommend that at all. Will try another meal another day. Fingers crossed eh

I've had several meals from here now pickup myself and had my food delivered always arrives hot and quick definitely recommend

Worst takeaway I've ever tasted. Sweet n sour balls over cooked. Chowm mein was stodgy and meat chewy. Chips crispy over cooked. A FOUL MEAL.

We used to always get deliveries. The food has always been lovely but unfortunately we no longer use this Chinese. They push for you to pay by cash (which is fine) but when you don't have it and ask to pay by card they huff down the phone and there is now a minimum charge of £30 to pay by card. Being only 2 of us and having to really watch our money £30 minimum charge is quite steep. The minimum charge and the attitude you get when asking about card payment has put us off. Again, the food is lovely but unfortunately we don't order from here anymore.

I'm sorry but I usual order from the magic wok, but they are closed for a few weeks. There is no comparison. There food is top notch, there hot and sour soup is delicious, As is there curry. I was so disappointed with your meal. My soup was thrown away, I asked for a mild curry for my granddaughter which was a mix of Chinese curry and an Indian korma. I won't be ordering from you again.

This used to be a very good Chinese now it's dreadful

I use this place frequently and always have had great food. My favourite is the chicken curry. Portion size of the rice is very ample. They also deliver. Can sometimes be busy, but I guess that is because they are popular.

I've been meaning to do this review for over a month now!! So it's January 1st, and as always, we have a Chinese. Our normal one is shut, so I gave this place a try. Amazing. I really can't say much more. Not overly greasy, not too salty. Everything was hot when it arrived and all the dishes were as expected. I've found a new local take away. If you haven't given them a go, do it. You won't be disappointed

Chinese takeaway fantastic at least once a month

Made a mistake with my order. Did nothing to sort it out. Waste of time. I had to oder elsewhere.

The food does taste good. Prices have gone up quite a bit, which is to be expected. But it seems that the portion sizes have shrunk and the quality of the ingredients has also dropped. You can't put the price up, reduce portion size and have lesser standard ingredients, ie meat and prawns, and expect the customers to be happy. For example, a special foo young in a small foil container with very little meat in it was I think £7.80, or thereabouts. Absolutely will not be coming again. The cost of a meal here is now too expensive to be enjoyable. For a family of four it is pretty much the same price to go out for a meal, so I know what I will be doing from now on.

Absolutely epic service. Absolutely amazing flavours... changed p time 3 times and still delivered when I turned up 10 mins early for the 4th time... if you schezuane style cooking this takeout has to be the best hands down in gosport

Been using this place for a while now, food and the service has been good but have now found price's have gone up and portion size is smaller, so now no longer value for money

Usually nice from here ordered a fair few times but the last couple of orders recently have been poor and not hit the quality I had come to expect. I.e hair in the egg fried rice, only once has it happened though. Also I would cross reference the final price they give, with their menu pricing as it seems to be inconsistent from time to time. So just be aware of that.

The most awful Chinese I’ve ever had. Noodles stuck together sat in slop of sauce, the bean sprouts were grey and brown??? Yuk. The beef didn’t look taste smell or feel even like meat, was chewy rubber. Chicken was so dry it couldn’t even be chewed. Most went in the bin. Absolutely disgusting

Best Chinese you could ask for! We have tried the majority of Chinese in Gosport and nothing can come close to the Oriental Express. Full of flavor, fair portions and quick delivery. Best dish is the Singapore chow main 🌶️ they NEVER disappoint!

Had food from here before and excellent very quick hot & tasty. Made my 82yo mom order by phone! We always have the 1/4 crispy duck & pancakes to start, lush. Then we had the king prawns with green peppers in black bean sauce. £18 delivered with free prawn crackers. Highly recommend.

We have been using Oriental Express for 15 years+ We have tried others locally a few times, but they are never as good. Always good & always fresh.

Usually extremely good. However, something wrong with Chicken in satay sauce extremely hot burnt back of my throat! Took a glass of water and glass of milk to clear and even then still not quite right.

Lovely food, delivered hot too. I ordered chicken satay, not what I expected but was amazing anyway, lemon chicken was outstanding. Really zesty and fruity. Would highly recommend.

Well I wish I could share the same comments as other peoples reviews but sadly this isn't the case after a strong recommendation I decided to give oriental Express a go well Express thay certainly aren't my experience was I was answered by a not to polite English man who took my order not in any way explaining that thay were very busy and my order could take some time to fill I placed my order at 20.15 good arrived 21.35 well over an hour I phoned to politely ask where my food was and was told on it's way no real apology or explanation on the plus side food was very good even if a bit sparce on the meat in the special chow main so in a nut shell not a great experience and I politely spoke with delivery driver and asked if he could relay my displeasure obviously thay dont value good customer service as I've not even received a call or apology very disapointing

Ribs were dry and"fell of the bone", but not in a nice way. The beef curry.... Tasteless fried rice.

Order from here at least once a month. Food is always hot and tastes great. Quick delivery every time. Highly recommended.

Waited 1 hour 44 minutes after ringing twice and was not told how long the wait would be. Then no discount, and told by the delivery driver if we didn't pay the full amount it would get taken out her wage, so she wasn't going to leave my property unless she took the Chinese back. Disgusted.

after recommendation we tried this takeaway was very impress have tried 2 other since and went back to the Oriental Express very good food nice and hot well cooked and quick delivery lots to choose from ,only problem is no web-site so remember to keep the menu card

we use oriental express as the food is nice but when your waiting over hour and half and call to check where your food is and its not even being cooked yet that's not fair.we were not told it was a long wait,so asked to have a refund and they get shirty. this place do not give you your money back easily they actually tried to tell us that it was a inconveiniat time and we should call back in a while to get our money back. if there ever in the wrong they will never offer something as apoligy or money back next time its awfull really,pure greed. this has happened to many times now and we refuse to use them any more

This was the first time we had ordered from them and I had no menu they were so friendly, advised me what to have and cooked and delivered within 35 minutes When it arrived in North Bridgemary from Brockhurst Road it was so hot I had to use a tea towel and was so tasty and large portions I even had some the next day for lunch. best I've found after trying 4 Chinese takeaway's in Bridgemary recently after a referral from a friend. will definitely be trying again.

Having been using this place for years, lovely food, pin pin starter is our favourite, roast pork fried rice and chicken balls are delicious. They have fast delivery and the staff are really friendly. We have tried other Chinese takeaways and none of them are anyway near as nice as Oriental Express

We ordered a meal for 5 from this takeaway and asked for delivery. Since the meal came to £34 the delivery was free. I have to say that this Chinese produces some of the best tasting food I have had in a long time. I thoroughly recommend this Chinese takeaway and I shall be using it again when we next visit Gosport.

The best Chinese in Gosport lovely food cooked fresh in front of you. It's so clean in there. Lovely staff too.

Really can't fault the quality of the food and their customer service. Being an open kitchen, you can watch everything being freshly made . Waiting with our young son, he was given some freshly made nibbles to keep him occupied while we watched our meal being made.

Love it here, food is always lovely and the staff are pleasant. I like that the kitchen is open and you can see them cook your food. If your ordering for delivery on a Friday or Saturday tho expect an hour wait but it's worth it.

My favourite place for Chinese takeaway. Food is cooked in front of you and the family that run it are friendly. They have some absolutely spot on dishes and will adapt them if you ask eg change pork for chicken.

Always a cold meal here. Don't think I will be going back here again. Me and the wife used to eat here once a month but we kept having a good meal and then a bad meal. And we haven't been back in a couple of years, thought we would give it another go and yet again it's cold. You do get the novelty of watching cook the food. I really wouldn't bother going here !

There are many Chinese eateries in Gosport and this one is streets ahead of the others. In fact, it's one of the best I've ever tried and I have tried so many! What I particularly like is the fact that you can watch them cooking it!

I've tried many of Gosports Chinese take always. This one is the best. You can watch the food being cooked in front of you. It's fast, reliable and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most of all the food is hot and tastes great.

I had recently moved to the area and I got to the point where you think a Chinese takeaway would top the evening off. Many local people said that Oriental Harbour is the BEST Chinese in Gosport. We ordered for three and the food tasted great. They were very busy and due to that our food arrived 70 minutes after we had ordered, but the food tasted fresh and not asif it'd be sat there. Delivery driver was cheerful and happy to have dropped us the food. Genuinely good experience, I always have a menu to hand.

But assured I don't use this title lightly. Having tried many Chinese's in Gosport the verdict is always the same ... 'it doesn't taste like the Oriental Express'!Hence we return week after week after week. Give them a go, you wont be disappointed!
