Oriental Chef in Redbridge

Can't put even one star - disgusting! Avoid this place - no customer satisfaction. They delivered the wrong order to me, when I phoned to complain they said nothing they could do. Would not bring correct order to me or refund their mistake. She argued that I had ordered those item so they wouldn't do anything to rectify. Really? I know what I ordered.

Had a take away this week and was disappointed. Quality has massively dropped and the food wasn’t fresh. Such a shame cause I used to like it. Won’t get back soon.

I have ordered from here a few times and it used to be nice and enjoyable .. the last few times the food has been bland and taste awful … ordered today and has plain chow mien which tastes like it has been cooked in old oil and was burnt … the chicken fried rice was tasteless and basically white rice with a scrambled egg and strips of chicken … the sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was so dry and chewy and once again tasted of old oil … won’t be ordering from here again

I have used this take away Chinese for over 10 years. The food is excellent, great value for money. I have been forced to try other deliveries / collections when this one is closed and have always been disappointed by the comparison. Don’t hesitate they are great. 👍

The rice was stale, this has happened before, I will never purchase food from that establishment again. I wasted £6.70 of my money. That is appalling serving food that is not fit for human consumption. A

Chicken Satay with chips, no veg, no sauce, 6 little chunks of chicken....I knew when they handed me the bag ...it was so light and should have looked what they served me up .... pathetic to say the least, kids portion of chips too. So glad this is not my local

Wow just bought food from here this evening and I’ve go today absolutely disgusting! I had crab and sweetcorn soup which was so watery all the way through- normally soup from Chinese takeaways is thick to say the least and gets a little watery towards the end and I can live with that but this was horrible and it’s down the sink! Next I’ve just had chicken Hong Kong style and chicken chow mein-it’s like I’ve eaten a load of food tasting of metal! I mean there was no flavour and it’s just got that zinc tasting tingling in my mouth and the chicken was soft as anything which it should be a little crispy as it has batter round it. Another thing which is quite obsured you gotta spend £28 to get free bad of prawn crackers, outrageous I’d say and wrong should be £15 at least. All I can taste is metal and I reckon a lot of the food is not fresh but frozen and defrosted coz that’s what it taste like-yuk

Food arrived piping hot & was very tasty. We tried a variety of dishes and everyone was pleased. Noodles, rice, sweet & sour chicken, chilli crispy beef and black bean sauce. All really good.

Very rude over the phone ,we received our order very chilly and they refused to accept this saying that this was ordered .We ordered the same dish for the last 2 years.

The cucumber was cut nicely - they forgot the plum sauce - the rest of it needed to be wrapped in police tape with a poss investigation - awful never again

It was an ok take away. Definitely not the best Chinese in the area. But it wasn’t bad. I ordered a drink with the meal and when I got home it was not packed in with the take away.

We decided to try this for the very 1st time after reading the reviews , we’re very fussy eaters , this take away looked really clean ,the service was good and the Chinese meal we had was the best Chinese we have had as a family in a long time , it was fresh , cooked to Perfection and pretty reasonable cost wise , we would definitely be returning for future take aways , it has 5 star ratings on the door but we awarded our own 5 stars tonight for the fab meal we had . The chow main and special fried rice was so Light and tasty .

Standards have dropped take away was a rip off £27 for a simple stir fry which was dry no saurce, better doing your own at home, the freezer prawns they used tasted like rubber tyre

The food is well prepared, the kitchen is clearly visible from the waiting area (I like to see my food being cooked) the waiting area is clean, but needs a few more chairs. It has the FSA 5 stars (scores on the doors) which is reassuring

Best Chinese takeaway for miles

One of the best Chinese restaurants we ever tried in London. A few days ago, my partner and I ordered from them. At the beginning I was a little bit skeptical about this place, even though my partner has known this place for many years. However when we tasted the food, it was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed every single dish we ordered, specially one with prawns and ginger. Prices were quite reasonable for London standards. We would definitely order again from them. Keep it up guys!

We ordered a family meal, start ok, and duck and cucumber ok. Main course was bad..I had chicken chow main, just one spoon full and could taste something was off, plus was tasting of water..think had been defrosted. My wife had sredded beef, and it was chewy. Pancake for duck was in plast bag, had been microwaved. Not impressed at all. Plaid £35.00, Will not use them again.

I've been a fan of the Oriental Chef for quite a while as they have a few restaurants I've tried. This was a decent take away but I've had better from other branches so would rate them from 3 to 5 *s individually, but overall a solid 4. I'm sure to be back but will also be tempted now to test the local competition.

Good value and delicious food. Delivery is always quick. Just a shame they don’t have an online ordering system

Nearly £3 for "large" pancake roll that fit between my thumb and for finger!!! Egg fried rice not properly fried more like stick rice and only 2/3 full, also chow mein was skinny noodles like Singapore style and again only 2/3!!! when i called to complain i was told i ordered before Christmas and knew what i was getting.....do what i like!!!!!!! This is the first and last time I'll be calling....cant wait for wing sing to open again

Nearly 2 hours to deliver. When the food arrived it was terrible and cold. Soggy, salty and no chicken in the sweet and sour chicken balls, just batter. Not impressed will never use again. Customer service was rude and unprofessional.

staff rude,especially lady, could be manager or owner. When asked for extra garlic and ginger in one dish was told, not possible by same lady although chef hadnt started order.Never again ever john wanstead

Best food, best service, best people there. This is my favourite takeaway ever, I love these people. All the reviews that say this place is bad are just plain wrong. Buy here, this place is amazzing!

Called to order, they were obviously busy as we had to hold the line which I totally understand being a Saturday night. Ordered paid over the phone. Was told yo to 45 mins. Called an hour later to be told it would be a minimum of 30 mins more. No apology asked for a refund and to cancel order. The lady wasn’t able to and told me just to wait for the food. Ended up speaking to a guy who again didn’t even apologise for it taking so long, I asked why they hadn’t told us when we ordered. Totally ignored and was asked if I wanted a refund or not!

We had the two vegetarian noodle dishes and they were completely tasteless. There was a tiny sprinkling of tasteless veg in them and less flavouring than a packet of instant noodles.

Used Oriental Chef for years . Myself, Parents and Sisters from different houses... Waited at my parents for 1 hour 45 mins for food. Called asked where it was and the staff gave an excuse of delays due to it being dropped. Didn't want to offer a discount, kept talking over me and eventually took £2 off a £42 bill... Not happy, kept talking over me.. So rude, as lovely as their food usually is we, as a family in 3 houses, will never use them again. All she had to do was offer a sensible discount....

A Very good Chinese Takeaway. Recommended

I had my yearly craving for a Chinese takeaway last eve, so stopped off after the pub. Been years since I tried this place and will be even more years before I do again. Waited precisely 40 minutes for a simple order. A lot of activity going on, but not much food emerging. Guy arrives to collect a large order he'd phoned 40 mins earlier and not ready. He had a cab waiting, so said "deliver it". "Long time - only one driver" she said. "OK, I'll have a refund then". "No, no - one minute ready!". Mine eventually surfaced, and they'd got the order wrong.No apology. Really don't know why I bothered, as it was disgusting anyhow. Never, ever again.

Me and my family have been ordering from here for years. Good food, Fast delivery, the food is always hot and the service is always good. If only they had loyalty cards.

Nice food but they've put their prices up. Pricey for what it is.

Always have used Oriental chef for a number of years. Food always cooked perfect the prices are average properly a pound or 2 more than any other take aways. The special fried rice could contain more prawns and it doesn't seem like it has a lot going on at all for the price. The ribs are great and so are the noodles cooked just the way I like it. Will always order from here .Thank you The Bbq and sweet and sour sauces are the best perfect taste and cannot compare to any where else.
