Poor Service, outdated way of handling online Food Orders.

I called to ask what vegan options are available as Google says "serves vegan dishes" as most Indian restaurants do. I was told I should know what I can eat by looking at the menu??? Terrible staff who were unable to answer basic questions about dietary requirements, wouldn't waste my time visiting a restaurants that would considering risking customers health.

They did not have delivery driver . And they did not. Give us solution

Dosai were bad, sticky and very thin!!

I recently had a terrible dining experience at Bay Leaf Ilford and would strongly recommend avoiding this place. I ordered the Chicken Chettinad, and it had a bad smell that made it inedible. I also ordered noodles, but they served me vermicelli instead. Despite prawns being listed on the menu, they had none in stock. To top it off, the Mutton Madras I ordered was awful as well. Overall, the food quality was extremely poor, and the service left much to be desired. -

Thank you so much for the food supply to our function . It’s very must tasty and fresh. In fact spot on time 12.30 pm with professional delivery driver. And food was more than enough . So many varieties of vegetables curry with desert. Highly recommended for Vegitable meals for large functions. There is no replacement for this vegetarian resturent for large catering for any function. All the best to the team.

Fried is too good but the soup I order was hot and sour it is like tamoto soup I didn’t like the soup

the 1.5l coke was out of date, I only looked at the date when I noticed the coke taste was not normal, the restaurant needs to check the dates requested the food to be spicy , not fulfilled, I won't order with them again.

Very nice food. Especially the shovel concept is unique and nice. Although service was very poor. The staff were not attentive and infact one member of staff came to ask us if we want anything else probably not realising our order has still not arrived after 40 plus minutes. Would be great of they let the customer know the waiting time for items like shovel.

Worse service and food .It is not an authentic Sirlankan food joint. The service is utter worse.They lose there though ur waiting for your order and needed to remind them the order. Food :First time Raita served with biryani sweet as kheer. Only positive feedback : Very quick in serving you the bill only. There are very good restaurants around Ilford .Don’t spoil you mood and your taste buds.

Absolutely terrible service. DO NOT GO HERE. They made us wait for the table to be ready, then got our order and our group of 6 waited for food for 45 mins. They didn't even start cooking when we said we are leaving! Worst service ever. They didn't even care that they wasted an hour of our time and we had to go and find another restaurant.

Had the shovel platter which had lamb chops, chicken tandoori, squid, kabab, prawn, a whole seabass fry with rice and nan. Loved it all. Highly recommended...!!!

Saw this restaurant when I was walking past this place and thought of giving it a try. Had a quick Srilankan dosa and chai. Dosa was really good but the highlight is the sambar and chutney that came with it. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Customer service is nonexistent! Do not go here to dine in. The atmosphere is shocking and feels more like a commercial catering business than a restaurant. The staff do not acknowledge customers! I had to go and get the menu’s myself off the counter and call the staff over when I was ready to order. It’s almost as if they don’t care whether you order or not. There are plenty of other Sri Lankan restaurants in the area so I will be taking my business there in future.

Absolutely shocking I don’t know how bad a restaurant could be I could got really sick and It’s really sad because I love south Asian cuisines and they were very rude and the food was so bad I asked for no onions there was loads of onions please avoid this restaurant

Food quality is good, however items were missing from each plate. Instead of 4 pieces there were 3 in each plate, and instead of 2, there was one!

Amazing experience in an amazing location. Food and staff were excellent and an all round great atmosphere. Would highly recommend!!

The vadai was so so oily it had to be put in the bin not edible very disappointed

I ordered non veg thalli and ends up getting veg thalli and the order took over an hour to arrive. Next time check your order before sending out

masala dosa was disgusting, old reheated the mash potatoe inside was congealed sticky and smelling with the edges hardened, not freshly cooked at all giving me old food from the day before

The delivery driver was great ,and was on time.

I recently ordered food from this restaurant for a birthday party, and the experience was utterly disappointing. Firstly, they only accept cash payments, which is inconvenient in this day and age. We had to scramble to find someone who had cash on hand to pay for the order. When we requested a receipt for the payment, they flat-out refused, claiming they don't provide receipts for party orders. Upon calling to inquire further, the person on the phone was incredibly rude and shouted at my wife, displaying a complete lack of professionalism. To make matters worse, the quality of the food was subpar. Overall, the experience was frustrating and unpleasant. I will never order from this restaurant again.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this restaurant when I went to pick up my order of 5 mutton rolls. Upon arrival, the lady at the till was incredibly rude and insisted that I pay for 15 rolls instead. When I tried to explain that I had only ordered 5, she began shouting at me, insisting that I was mistaken. The lack of professionalism and customer service skills displayed by the staff member was shocking. It's clear that this restaurant will struggle to stay in business if they continue to employ individuals who treat customers in such a disrespectful manner. I will not be returning and will caution others to think twice before patronizing this establishment.

Good food, reasonable prices and fair portions. The receptionist was showing an attitude and was over the phone without showing interest to our queries.

Can’t say anything …That biryani was not mentioned it’s including with seafood… and I have allergy with seafood …So I can’t eat …..So I can’t say about quality ….. Later I checked the menu and saw that nothing was mentioned on Special Biryani ….

Always ordered chicken and mutton kothurotti with no problems. 15 minutes tops for us to pick up. Perfect on days our household don't want to cook in the evening. Only £6.50ish per portion. Very reliable. Food is made in a very authentically Tamil Sri Lankan way. Keep that in mind. The interior is beautiful but specialises in tasty and well-portioned takeaways instead of dine-ins. This spot caters for people who want homecooked style SL food! Not south OR north Indian food - this is very different. This means idiyappam, kothurotti, biriyani and devilled starters. If you want naan, paneer, keema and samosa then this is not for you - go to an Indian restaurant lol. The menu is broad but keep that in mind. The staff here are always friendly, kind and try to be swift. There is only 1 person usually at the till and the rest are chefs so be respectful to the staff if there is a problem or delay in your service during your dine in. This is common sense to me as a customer but clearly not to some others. Be respectful. Main complaints here look like they come from people thinking this is an Indian restaurant. Banana leaf clearly state it is a Sri Lankan restaurant. Like most restaurants that cater for takeaways it is usually the most staffed after 5pm. Call to make sure before going in.

They missed my coke and the muttom chukka was salty and the meat was so chewy

I ordered mutton biriyani from banana leaf. Food is below average.. mutton pieces are so hard.. Not as expected.. It tasted like cooked plain tomato rice and added mutton pieces just to cover multiple dishes in the menu..

Value for the money and delicious food.

It is a great place for authentic Sri Lankan food. Been visiting for years and always satisfied. Good value for money. Decent portions. Warm and welcoming environment.

Tasty but don't like the hard peas in the masala dosa, would be nicer just to have the soft potatoes.

The food was cold. The bag had tipped over in the drivers basket so everything had leaked. Driver couldn’t find my address but when I went outside to see him he was staring at the next door neighbour 370, but couldn’t work out that I was 368. He then kept trying to explain what had happened even though I said multiple times don’t worry can I just have the food before it gets any colder, Food was all the same colour like everything beige. It was flavoursome and was ok once I had reheated it.

Butter paneer masala wasn’t butter paneer masala it was just paneer added in some pre-made sauce and was very bad in taste. And in chana masala there was so much garlic pieces and bhatura was burnt.so overall very bad experience

Food was ok only, chicken cravy n long beans cravy tasted the same. But i had a buffet from same kitchen at a family event it tasted much better.

I really enjoyed my lunch which was chicken Biryani and veg samosa with mango lassi drink so now I have said thank you and my meal was very nice (Delicious)

We took a take out the spring rolls we had were so dry and the mutton wasn't even cooked there was no salt and had no actual flavour then the vadai was so dry and so oily plus also had no flavour, to make things more dissapointing the plain dosa tasted like it was cooked a day before and reheated, the chicken noodles was also terrible didn't even eat it because it just had no flavour plus the chicken biryiani ,you won't believe it was also terrible honestly banana leaf was so good and I don't know what happened, they just don't have their standards anymore

I ordered egg Kallu dosa and waited 25 mins after that a lady staff is coming and asking me what Kallu dosa have you ordered and they have not even taken my order to kitchen very bad service and this is my second experience first time I waited almost 30 mins. And to the owner if it’s going like this it will be a big trouble to all customers. With this experience until it’s resolved I will not be having or coming there.

My go to place for Biriyani and Kottu, oh and mutton rolls.

Good food, not expensive. Virasat (Indian) down the road charges a lot more for similar cuisine. This Sri Lankan restaurant offers good food, not everything super spicy! Drinks offered too. No Jug/Pitcher for the Lassi. Service could be improved. Only 1 cashier/ receptionist so they're busy. Recommended. Maybe takeaway would be easier :)

I love biyrani but I tried Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani today but the taste was not very good and very salty I disappointed this service and food.

Table of 18… took over 3 hours for us to get all our food. - we served our own plates and silverware, glasses and poured our own waters. Starters took over an hour to arrive, one at a time Mains, we were told no dosa and we were like errrm dosa is your speciality and then the waitress said ok will take half an hour make- ok we ordered 8- took over 1.5 hours to arrive and some were undercooked and some burnt Naan and most veg curries, they said they can’t make as they are currently catering an event - errrrm well then they shouldn’t have take our booking - how can you say half your items can’t be made?! Toilets were nasty and dirty Floors were slippery and greasy Never again Awful service

Absolutely terrible time management. We waited for our food for more than an hour and an half and the staff seemed to prioritise online orders over in-store customers. The taste of the food was mediocre too.

Had a party to go and the host asked me to order 30 vegetable rolls from this place, I got there at midday, the front was closed but spoke to the chef in the back door and put my order in, told him I would be back in 1 and half hours to collect. At 13:30 I was back, the front cashier was forcing me to pay, I said where are the rolls, she said be ready in 2 mins, I said you had 1 and half hours to make the rolls, again she forced me to pay, I said I will pay when the rolls are, turns out they hadnt prepared the order and was doing it at 13:30 when I was supposed to collect the rolls, this is just a small order but if they cant handle this order i doubt they will be able to handle a large catering order. Waste of time.

We've eaten here for a few years and food service is usually good. Tonight the service was crazy slow and a large family was letting their kids run all over place without any respect for other customers. I go to Sri Lanka at least once a year and understand the family culture but tonight there was no respect with children running all over the place. We ended boxing our food to eat at home. Waitress didn't know the menu as well as I did. Unfortunately this will probably be our last visit

Delicious, this restaurant does the best Dosa I have ever had and their curries are lovely too. Welcoming and pleasant staff, Naveen our waiter was very thoughtful and helpful.

Food is nice but the waiting was so long, how can you wait 40 minutes for food to be ready? It was very annoying!

I dont know about their other items but can definitely recommend you their lemon rice and mushroom rice and vegetable rice.We liked it so much that we took 5 more mushroom rice takeway with is for 4 people.Their rices are really tasty.

Worst customer service by couple of men who works there. They must learn manners and how to speak/communicate with customer. Ordered pepper chicken. Delivered at table chilli chicken with pepper sprayed on it. Outside black in colour, but inside red (Chilli) :-)

Waste of money and not the same quality. Today I ordered sea food puttu koththu for 5 portions take away in a tray for my guests. When I gave order, I could hear the sound from the kitchen that there is no sea food but he took my order. Normally it will be delicious with a lot of prawns and squid but unfortunately today they put few prawns only. Nothing else. Really waste of money and really disappointed about the food. Please don't be money minded. Think about the quality as well. I complained to them but they are not ready to accept their fault. I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone for take away.

A very affordable place for South Indian and Sri Lankan food in Ilford.

Worst experience. The Most unfunctional and reddest staff. 1 hour and 15 mins for 6 items and also had to leave as they were not ready by then. We were told 20 mins for food pick up and they never got ready. Only 1 server for take away orders, restaurant service and for all things. (I’m not sure about the food quality and taste) Never recommend I prefer give 0 stars if I had an option here

Good food, and although there weren't many staff the food was served decently fast.
