Worst meal we have ever had. We normally go to China Boy in Hemsby, but it was shut, so we decided to go here instead. First annoyance, it was cash only. Our usual £11 meal was £17.50 and had two less chicken balls. The Chicken Chow Mein was awful. The noodles were all sticky and bland; onions charred and tasted terrible. the chicken balls were dry and the egg fried rice lacked any flavour and was starchy. As we are local, we dread tourists thinking that. This is the norm up here. Unfortunately with such a large holiday park opposite, they have plenty of new custom.

Unfortunately China Boy in Hemsby was closed so went here instead. Our usual £11 meal was £17.50 and you had two less chicken balls. The chicken balls were horrible and dry. The egg fried rice was starchy and horrible and the Chicken Chow Mein was equally terrible. The noodles were sticky, the onions overcooked and really was not a nice experience. As we live up here, I am embarrassed that tourists may think this is the norm.

An early evening meal for 3 of us. Was piping hot even after the 5 minute walk to the caravan. Only let down is that it's cash only.

Don't have pork chow mein hardly any pork and what I got was the tiniest thin bits of might have been pork in the noodles so not worth the money, felt a bit sick afterwards. Wish I'd gone a bit further up really delicious food 😩

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Chicken chow mein consisted of dry, bland noodles with bean sprouts, a few charred bits of onion and tiny pieces of chicken. The taste honestly reminded me of a farmyard, it was inedible. Chicken curry was average but had a very strong floral taste. Egg fried rice looked like whole grain rice and just tasted like starch. Asked for salt and pepper chips which aren’t on the menu and ended up with hard and somewhat stale chips that solely tasted like salt with a few chilli slices and some spring onion greens thrown on - these were the most edible thing of all. The portions were ridiculously small and overpriced. The previous reviews from people giving 5 stars are what made us try this but I really wouldn’t recommend. A real shame as the staff were nice.

Had a meal on Tuesday the young girl taking orders was not interested in her job has she had her ear buds in so when I gave her an allergy request she had no idea . The portions are half what you get anywhere else for the same price and probably more the king prawn balls were very doughy more batter than prawn Take the time to go into Caister or hemsby there are better Chinese there

Firstly, this is a review of the food not the people. The staff in the store were delightful and friendly. The food however, a complete disappointment. We ordered a set meal for two with some extra chicken satay on skewers. First thing we noticed was the size of the containers for the chicken chop suey and the rice. These were the smaller foil containers where at home a meal like this would be in the larger ones. Anyway, onto the actual food. The chicken satay on skewers looked fine until I bit into it. The consistency was very soft and the whole thing slid off the skewer in one piece. It gave me the question marks of whether it had been cooked properly. I came to the conclusion that it was border line and decided to wait on this review until I found out whether I’d been ill or not! I haven’t, so maybe it was just the way it was marinated/ cooked. The main course of chow mein and rice was ok, it was acceptable but nothing to rave about nor complain about. Sweet and sour chicken balls, the sauce was thick and tasty however the balls were tiny. Finally the spring rolls, I was looking forward to these, but was horrified to find they were wrapped in the same style batter as the chicken balls. They were not good and were binned by both of us. Never come across spring rolls covered in batter before and honestly never want to again. All in all a very disappointing experience and I’d recommend avoiding the spring rolls and satay chicken if visiting here.

Looks ok not bin in yet. Have just bin in for a Chinese didn't have to wait long the food was top of the shop 👌 and a good price 👍.

We got a takeaway from the Orchid House to take back to the caravan whilst staying at the Parkdean opposite. First pain was that they only take cash - thankfully we had some money in preparation of amusement arcades...! It did however mean we had to be a little more careful on how much we ordered. The food itself was generally OK, which from reading some previous reviews was a win. I like to give places a chance and it was not bad at all. Was it the best we have ever had, not by a long shot... we had one rice dish that came with some meat, but it was just a couple of slices on top. Prawn toast was a bit thinner than we are used to getting, but my son still liked it (prawn toast is usually his favourite at a Chinese!) Having the Chinese located where it is, is really great - especially if you are staying locally on holiday etc. There didn't seem many other options in the immediate area other than chips (which the Chinese will also do!)

We ordered a mixture of meals which we found to be very tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We would definitely return.

I read some mixed reviews for the orchid house and nearly put me off. So as we stayed in the park dean homes opposite. Thought we would try it. All I can say is the bad reviews are so wrong. This place has provided me with some of the best Chinese food I have had. I have had loads in the past. But this was a really high level. Quantity price and service. Thank you a truly great meal

Took a punt on this place whilst staying on the caravan park next door. The reviews were mixed but I really couldn't be bothered to cook... I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, we had a lovely meal and would have no issues coming again when we're back in the area

Nice meal. Quick service. The only downside was it being cash only. It isn't the easiest pma e to find a cash machine. On a cold wet evening it was a good find. Fairly generous portion of prawn crackers.

We ordered the chicken balls which the chicken was non existent (cat gets more in its wiskas) the sweet and sour pork had more bell peppers then pork and £4.80 for salt and chilli chips is ridiculous will not be returning

Chicken balls had too much dough. Springs rolls were virtually all dough. Chilli beef was bland. Sesame prawn toast was bland. Won’t be coming back.

The food was ok, nothing more than ok. We ordered various dishes (special fried rice, special curry, beef in hot sauce, mushrooms in black bean sauce and chips) plenty of chips but the other portion sizes are pitiful, they come in small containers and they weren't even full, in fact the beef and mushroom dishes were about 3/4 full. I love chinese food but these were the smallest portion sizes I've ever seen. As others have said, they're clearly targeting holiday makers and not repeat customers.

Ordered a few dishes, however,if you want a "normal" chow mein, or normal special fried rice just order the Special Chow Mein or Special Rice. Too many House Chow Mein & House Special Rice choices "with sauce"... The Sweet Chilli Beef had far too much colouring on it and looked radio active, but was tasty. Nothing outstanding, but was nice all the same. The pancake roll is lovely :-)

Highly recommend this takeaway. Order only took a few minutes to cook and we were not disappointed. Would highly recommend the sweet chilli beef it was delicious.

Stayed at California Cliffs and this place is directly opposite. We had a Kung po chicken which my husband said was really good and a beef chow mein which I enjoyed. We also had salt and pepper ribs, good ribs but could do with a little more spice. Prices were very good compared to my regular Chinese at home. Would recommend.

Very expensive, small portions and poor quality food. Salt and pepper chicken wings - little taste, strangely battered and a rip off for the portion size. Crispy chilli beef - Tasted ok but again a rip off for portion size. Special fried rice - Just terrible Special chow mein - Beyond terrible No meat and little sauce in the above Special dishes. So in summary do yourselves a favour, pop to the local Tesco as Caister and pick up a chilled Chinese, this will not only stop you from being ripped off but will provide you with much more palatable food 🤣🤣😍

Nothing to write home about. We had special chop suey, special fried rice and chips. The dish for me tasted far too sweet. I left over half of the dish. The best part of the meal was the chips. I was a little disappointed especially as we had around a 30 minute wait for the food. It was quite busy so my expectations were high, sadly the food didn't match up to the expectation.

Food was OK, nothing special. Portion sizes are a disgrace small container (as in the half size metal container) for a £7.20 chow mein is an absolute rip off, certainly taking advantage of unknowing holiday makers, can't imagine they get much, if any repeat business from locals, hence only being open during holiday months.

Inedible food which is super expensive for what it is! Staff were rude would absolutely tell you to avoid this place. The menu says one thing and you get something completely different! Highly salty, dried 'chicken balls' that have been refried and actually were not chicken balls but the crusty ends of chicken cut into tiny pieces! Seaweed was salty, noodles had hardly any noodles but a foil tin of bean sprouts, beef and mushrooms had 3 pieces of beef (I counted) Absolutely appalling do not go!!!

Portion sizes were spot on. Quite often Chinese food comes in a huge container. The portion size was for 1 person. I'd agree with other reviewers that the cost is a bit pricey. The veg spring rolls were...different. The mushroom curry and veg chowmein were very tasty.

Bought chicken balls and they were really hot. Burnt my mouth a little so drank water and spilt it all down my t-shirt. Not impressed, if they were cooler none of this would of happened. They should have cooled them down before delivering them to me.

Crispy fried aromatic duck..superb, Pancake rolls..the best ever..Smoked chicken fabulous! Friendly, helpful service, very efficient and cannot recommend highly enough! As an aficionado of this type if meal it is freshly cooked, tasty and delicious. Ignore the negative reviews please!!

Small over priced portions, very 'English ' style food rather than Chinese.

Nice food, but portions are very small, chip portions are small, 12 chicken balls on the menu (well you can't call them balls (batters thicker than the chicken) and it's like there cut smaller, sauce's are the same size as a medium curry sauce from your local chippy and £2.10, like I say, nice food but little portions, cash only and can't call them and order as number doesn't work,

DO NOT recommend at all! On holiday here with my family and had a massive order. A lot of incorrect portions arrive aswell as RAW satay chicken skewers! I will attach a picture but I just personally feel that they wasn’t even bothered. Someone could become seriously ill from this food. Don’t recommend!!!

Ordered meal from here for collection. Hot and sour soup. Special curry a prawn curry and a large egg fried rice.The hot and sour soup was not quite to taste but a little vinagar made a huge difference. Both the curry's lovely. Assorted meats and prawns and plentiful prawns in the king prawn curry.Accompanied by one large portion of rice.Better than anticipated.

Bit late in the day ..but..after visiting California Sands for the 2nd year on 'the trot' I cannot recommend this takeaway highly enough! Freshly cooked generous portions, high quality dishes cooked to perfection Superb, we get what we pay for..and most certainly, this LOVELY takeaway does not disappoint!!

We enjoyed fish & chips at Orchid House. We had to wait about half an hour for the food but we were notified of this at the time of ordering and it was well worth the wait! Staff were friendly and helpful, too and offered to call us when our food was ready. I'd definitely recommend.

Had a takeaway from here last night and have to say taste was good quantity below average contents not much, Singapore chow main had very little meat content, sweet and sour chicken balls had been cut in shapes and lastly the price well, very over priced I have been to many Chinese restaurants and takeaways and received far more for the price I paid, you would think having a catch ment area they would be ten times better, in all not enough food for the outrageous price you pay, advice if using holiday site find a Chinese that delivers for a lot less

We ordered the vegetarian set meal for 2 (I'm the veggie!) and added a beef in black bean for hubby.I absolutely loved it, great range of dishes, delicious flavours, quickly prepared and means I still get a night off cooking whilst on holiday. I'd definitely recommend.

Absolutely disgusting food! Chicken balls are cut into 3 and are enough to feed one person at most. My daughter went hungry just at the sight of the food and we are on holiday. £32 for an awful taste in my mouth and 90% thrown in the bin.

Annual trip to California Sands cannot be the same unless we visit Orchid House on our 1st evening. This place is one of the best Chinese takeaways I have come across! Freshly cooked food to perfection, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for! King prawn chop suey, chicken chow main, the chicken balls in batter are particularly good, despite previous reviews!! All in all..a BRILLIANT takeaway!

My husband and I ordered the crispy chilli beef, smoked chicken and chicken chow mein to share. Loads of garlic in the crispy chilli beef but we both love it. The food tasted great and wasn't greasy at all. We'd definitely go back.

Just had the worst and most pathetic Chinese take away I have ever had. It is called orchid house in Scratby, in Norfolk. Their idea for sweet and sour chicken balls which they say on the menu is 12, but they part cook them and then cut them into 3 and then fry them. So hard crunchy chicken, and you only get a third for each ball! Place is a rip-off so if you ever stay anywhere near, avoid these shysters!

After my experience I can't believe the 1 star reviews below, usually Chinese take aways near holiday parks are absolutely dire. I was very satisfied with the portion size, taste, speed of service and price. Would definitely return!

Thoroughly disappointed! Ordered a plain chow main, 6 mini spring rolls and 8 wings and it cost £15, food was absolutely vile. Dry and Inedible, strongly advice to avoid at all costs. The 1 star rating was overly generous!

The whole meal was greasy and bland. The chicken balls, supposed to be x 9...turned out to be 9 pieces...some balls cut into 3 and then deep fried again presumably so they stayed in some sort of ball shape! The spare ribs were all bone and gristle...and we were charged a mere £30 for the privilege :( would definitely not recommend. Unfortunately, there isn't another Chinese take away nearby, so I guess they have no competition!

Staying at California cliff holiday park and visited here 4 times whilst staying in a caravan. Very tasty Chinese and very reasonable prices. Would highly recommend. Excellent customer service meals ready in 10 minutes from telephoning the order through. Special chow mein very tasty and chicken fried rice with curry sauce very good. My daughters boyfriend had the sweet and sour chicken balls which was a good portion. Enjoy.

Fantastic food short from caravan will go again

We are staying at the California Cliffs caravan park, we went to this takeaway and....... Don't bother having a beef curry.... There is hardly any beef in it ( bulked out with mushrooms and lots of onions not beef) chicken with pineapple.... Again.... Not much chicken!! Crispy see weed looks like shredded cabbage and very, very salty (and not sea water salt). Rice and chips nice tho. With curry you have to pay for rice and chips, it does NOT come with dish. No free prawn crackers, have to pay for these also. Crap all round. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Stay away!!!!
