Lovely and so tasty we had Singapore chow mein plain chow mein chicken in black bean n chilli absolutely wonderful. Also the large spring rolls are the best weve had.Cash only quick to collect no problems

Owning a caravan nearby we’ve always enjoyed food from here. Not anymore! The place is under new management apparently and the changes aren’t good. The food was very bland. Chicken and beef extremely chewy and all cold by the time we got back (3 minutes away) So disappointed, will try somewhere else from now on.

Paid for delivery online and got a phone call saying we need to collect, then had to pay for delivery again and the food was cold on arrival. Was always a very good service, will not be ordering again

Stayed at haven caister and used this Chinese for 1 evening. The food was ok nothing special. We read Google reviews and 1 of them said best chicken balls ever. Personally for us we just thought they was ok. The chips were a little 2 crispy but other than that still a good meal at a decent price we would use again. Nearly forgot its 2 mins from the park. Turn right out of main entrance and it comes up on the right 2 mins later just before 2nd avenue

Omg, has to be the best Chinese ever. Food freshly cooked, large portions and lots of choice. Just be aware they only accept cash inside but we pre ordered online and paid by card which we picked up ourselves at a later time, however they do deliver but unsure where to.

Prices wrong from menu we got set meal says £36 was charged £40.10when got there

Staying at haven round the corner, we’ve been to a few places whilst here including the smokehouse and we’ve been disappointed by most of it, we decided to order from here, collected our large order in 20mins, food was SO tasty and decent portions!! If this was in our local area it would be our go to Chinese! Would 100% recommend. If we come back to haven we will DEFINITELY be ordering from here again! Thank you!

Our first time ordering from Happy Family. Ok we live in Martham, so not close to Caister, but our delivery was before delivery time. Food was lovely and not too much or too little. Thank you Happy Family and we will be ordering again.

I was stopping at the haven site and fancied a Chinese, saw happy family near by. The food was brilliant, so tasty and fresh. Couldn't eat it all so save it for later and it was just as good 2nd time round, I will certainly use again.

We found soggy cardboard inone meal. Gristle in another . Food was not nice and have had tummy upset. Think it is under new management . Did politely let restaurant know of cardboard and gristle who in turn offered a replacement . Safe to say we declined!

First time take away from Happy Family and it was lovely they were very busy but it was we'll worth the half our wait food was fresh , not and good size portions 2 starters 3 mains half portion of chicken balls large rice and chip more then enough for 5 people will definitely be having more thank you👍

Staying at haven caravan site got a delivery from happy family Chinese and I must say we was a happy family after eating it!! About a 25 min delivery time had to meet them at the gate but that's not there fault if this was my local Chinese at home it would be my regular delivery driver was friendly as well all round great experience thank you

It's the best Chinese I've ever had and it was very hot it was very hot and the food were lovely I have never had banana fritters banana fritters so I had a chance and there was absolutely lovely that's lovely the source was very nice on it and the beef train and the beef Charmaine would lovely

Now I assume under new management as now called Happy Family. Ordered on line, paid by credit card and arrived within half an hour to 40 minutes. Everything we ordered was first class. Normally use other Chinese takeaways in Caister on Sea. Will be using this one in future. Highly recommend. Thought bag charge of 10p. Delivery of £1.20 although we were closer than their mileages stated to charge and 50p service charge was unexpected after paying over £30! Did not spoil enjoyment of the meals.

best Chinese i have ever had. no grease at all, delivery was within expectation, told us it would be an hour, was here in 30 mins. food was lovely and hot when it got here, also was reasonable prices for what we got. definitely recommend!!!

Don’t use the delivery service at this place. Half our order was missing, we called to request the missing items and they said it would be sent out immediately. Waited 45 mins and no second delivery with the missing items, called back again and they hadn’t even sent the order. They offered a discount on our next order, how does this help when we have half a order missing and the rest stone cold……take my advice and choose another Chinese…. Ps If I could submit with zero stars I would have….

First time to try this place out whilst on a break at hemsby and although this time round only had a special curry with fried rice it was lovely !!!! Packed with meat so made up for the increase in price compared to what we pay back home which is about £3 less for what I had . Sure I'll be back on our next visit with a larger order , merry Christmas and a happy new year x

Ordered a selection of dishes Monday evening, wish I hadn't. It didn't smell great and the chow mein looked grey in colour when opened, oddly. Chips hard. Beef dish so chewy and special rice just tasted wrong. Mostly got binned..terrible diareah next morning. Checked scores on doors hygeine rating and low and behold they are the worst in caister with 1/5.. with a food safety rating /comment from the council as simply 'bad' if you want to take your life in your hands and eat somewhere with a 'bad' food hygiene standard, so be it. But wish I had checked before ordering as would never have stepped foot in the place.

I was very hesitant at first as we are from colchester and am visiting haven holiday park. All i can say is WOW! Its amazing. Not greasy in the slightest. I suffer with crohns and some chinese food can make me so poorly but this did not. It doesnt give you the uncomfortable full feeling. I even had the rest for breakfast the next day. Will definetely visit again next year. Thank you for cooking such lovely food.

Tried this Chinese as it delivers and is under new management. My mum tried it a week ago and said the food was great. Have to say it was cheaper than my normal by nearly £10 and was delicious 😋 We will definitely be using them again.

Tried this place out yesterday. Was a bit hesitant because of the reviews. However the food was great. We ordered the roast pork fried rice, barbequed spare ribs in chilli and blackbean sauce, prawn toast, fried chicken, chilli and salt king prawns & pineapple fritters. Definitely worth ordering from here :)

Tried for the first time yesterday, will definitely be using again, curry was gorgeous, partner had beef chow mien, along with a portion of chicken satay on skewers, delivery was fast and efficient

The nearest takeaway is not the best. I think they assumed regular patronage due to location. We ate here 2 years ago and it has not improved. Very greasy I miss my local. We are trying the local kebabery from now until we leave next week. Had feedback but they did not properly read review. I said it’s not improved yet they ask me to try it even though I had. Cooking is as bad as their understanding.

I didn't like it..that's that everyone to there own opinion. But me ..NO..save your dollar.

I don't normally write reviews but feel like i have to, from chicken balls dripping in oil, over cooked food rice was one big solid lump to prawn crackers that cost £2.80 for 6 crackers, it was a disgrace i thought as it was so much more expensive then other chinese it was going to be fabulous but i was sadly wrong.. will never use again!

Not a regular at takeaways but my partner wanted a Chinese so said I would choose mine from their English menu. Thought a safe choice was plain omelette & chips. The omelette was delivered folded in a lump and sat in grease. It was also mostly grey in colour. Needless to say I didn't consider it safe to eat and it went in the bin. Definitely won't be using here again

My first time ordering from here, and my last. Order was short one item and what we did have was truly awful. Everything had a strong 5 spice aftertaste and nothing else. I have no personal reason to say this, it was disgusting.

Won't bother again with this place and if you have a food allergy I wouldn't either, went in to ask about dishes available for Gluten allergy, lady apparently didn't know and refused to as the kitchen as they were busy, if it's not stated on the menu and you don't want to take up a phone call, we presumed going in personally would be the best option, obviously not! So can't even review the food as we were unable to even order any. Completely unprofessional.

Easy to order through just eat delivery 15 minutes early food piping hot large portions not the cheapest but nice food the hot and sour soup was the hottest spicy hot I have had will use again

We ordered lots of food to be delivered to camp site in Scratby and arrived fairly quickly although one of the pots of sweet and sour sauce had spilt the driver was the best he went and got us another one and some free chip's by way of apologies. The food was fantastic and the chicken balls were more like chicken breasts and loads in a portion. Very highly recommended and we will definitely be using you again 😍😍😍

Used this Chinese while staying at Haven, portion sizes were OK, ordered beef chow mein, chicken curry, only some of the meat wasnt cooked all the way through. Carrots in chow mein, never had that before 🤷‍♀️ rice noodles prawn Crakers crunchy, tasted ok, plain.. Went in to order, put on table outside when I collected, even though I was outside wearing a face mask. Friendly staff, the mature lady.

Meet was tough and not cooked properly....chicken was non existent just a,load of juice. ....and I hd an bad belly because of it avoid avoid avoid. ...put me off Chinese food for good not impressed

Phoned for a delivery and were asked to collect said we didn’t really want to. Then asked if key worker which he is. Postcode given and they came back with a rd round the corner as had it completely wrong. Order arrived vegetable curry was totally tasteless. Crackers were very crunchy and weird taste. Noodles hard and smelt funny. Will not be using again. Such a shame as looking for takeaway services still open in lock down!

We recently ordered from here portion wise food was good but more batter than filling and lacked flavour and it was all way too salty none of us stopped drinking water the rest of the evening and through the night! I would not use again.

When they originally opened up the food was the best in the area for quality and flavour. Sadly now the quality has hit what I believe as rock bottom. Weve just had bland chicken curry which was a few bits of chicken and more mushroom in a pale yellow sauce tasting just slightly of tumeric. Sweet n sour chicken balls which were soft and chewy with a orangy coloured tasteless sauce. Spare ribs in a plumb sauce, cookes to death like pulled pork with bones, again if i wasnt aware it was pumb sauce I would have never guessed as tastless. Rice ok as was plain chow main. Dodgy chips though and 3 portions not 1 as we ordered but not eaten. Proprietor please note the following as it may help your business as it looks like your struggling for, or will be for business: Be unique in the area and stand out from the rest. Provide quality, flavoursome food to be proud of which tastes as you would expect it to. Curry of actual curry and not wishy washy blandness, sweet n sour which gives you that lip smacking contrasting hit etc etc. If you need to charge more then i believe that your dwindling customer base would accept it in the knowledge that they are getting a quality product every time which exceeds expectations. Your buisness would thrive and your ratings would multiply accordingly. This is the last time you will have our custom for the timebeing as we are quite rightly dissapointed and being frank, we really let down. Chifanla, no thank you anymore. Colin J.

Very good service great if your staying on caister haven fteindly staff. Only ever had one wrong order and they fixed it super fast no extra charge use there app for 10% off. Kids dishes and the create your own option fits all.

Food is awful, not remotely Chinease in any way whatsoever.

Fanced a nice takeaway Saturday rang this place up because it the nearest to home have had some nice dishes from here but this time the king prawn balls were so heavy battered that the batter was not cooked through they were so thick with batter and stodgy so ended up in the bin so lesson learnt next time I will drive passed this one on my way to hemsby.

I have Chinese food frequently. I have many Chinese friends from my time working in the casino industry - I’m also a food lover and like good food. Tonight I visited the Chifanla ... not for the first time - the previous time wasn’t great - but I believe enin second chances and all that. I ordered duck, chips and Kung-po with chicken in batter (thins conversation was very clear) Chips where ok - bit hard but fine. Duck - if I gave CPR it would quack at me... I threw more fat and undercooked skin away then what I could eat. Kung po - is ok - but everything is cut down so much - it’s more like a stew ... and not in batter as ordered. The Kung po seemed to have been bashed around a wok - with little freshness and crispness to the veg ... I really do not recommend this takeaway in its current form - food safety is 1...... There is an alternative in the village which I would suggest. Unfortunately - this particular takeaway has failed to deliver on more than one occasion.

Sadly it didn't help that I ordered a Chop Suey instead of a Chow Mein, however having overcome my disappoinment, I sat down to eat. We shared a Chicken Curry, King Prawn Chop Suey , Chips and a BBQ sauce, I had it delivered to my home. It was delivered exactly to time 1 hour after I'd ordered on "Just Eat". The food was barely warm,tasteless and the Chop Suey was served in a watery pink sauce that may have had ketchip added into it(?) We were given some Prawn Crackers gratis, but they were stale. It cost me £19.00 which included delivery but I think that was probably £10 too much. I will not be ordering from here again.

Avoid at all cost, wont refund, terrible food, rude and turnt up on my door step at 11.30 wanting me to show the contents of my bin which I did and was offered £20 off the bill even tho food was seen in the bin

Taken me awhile to find a good chinese but now have found one fantastic food great delivery hence the 5 stars you won't find better in the area.

Haven't tried this one before and wont be going back, the chicken satay skewers for starters were swimming in a tasteless watery sauce and the chicken was dry and chewy, the main course which was another chicken dish had the same problem, dry chewy chicken and the sauce wasn't up to much either, the special fried rice was ok but nothing special and my friends special chow mein also wasn't that nice, unfortunately a waste of money in my eyes.

Had the set meal for two. Everything tasted the same and overly sweet. Left half of it. Was violently sick two hours later :(

AWFUL. One meal missing from order. Despite ringing twice and being told the meal was ‘on its way’ we received it over an hour after we had eaten, by which time I had cooked something myself, so no longer needed it. So much for customer service. Needless to say, we will not be using them again.

ordered a takeaway from here ,the chow mein was tasteless ,the special curry had no prawns in and not a lot of meat mainly carrots and mushrooms and was a very tiny pot like all the other pots of food, also everything is a seperate price, no rice or chips with the curry or omelette ,also very expensive wont go there again , most of it went in the bin !!!

Just had a takeaway from here, asked for chicken chow mein no onions. They put onions in it and as for the chicken where was it, there were about six tiny pieces and the chips were not cooked properly, disappointing

I have never given a bad reveiw because its not a nice thing to do in my eyes but i have no choice !Giving 1 star because I can't do less . Long story gonna skim . AVOID THIS PLACE . On mothers day ( sunday ) I ordered , 2 hours later it turns up , not all there , said someone will bring the rest , 40 mins I ring , no one knows anything , food was cold any way now it's unedible ,get told they will ring . No ring . ring again hour later , told the girl I'm not happy she said refund of cash will be given and manager will ring . No ring. another hour and a half later I ring , another lady asks me to explain she said a refund will be dropped in an hour and 'just eat your food ' which i then said its in the bin . ...(after speaking to manager which is THE ONLY CHEF but will tell you he is out ) 2 hours later I ring and ANOTHER lady answers oblivious I tell her and she starts saying to' scrape it out of the bin and put in containers 'and she will give me a refund or I have a voucher with them . I said they wouldnt be doing anythinh with the food ... i paid in cash so just give it back... I said I don't even care about it now I'm disgusted with their service over about 4 hours of this and that £30 is a lot of money and she said £30 is a lot of money and I said I know but she is willing to give me £30 worth of free food another time ( makes sense NOT) she then lied and said no one ever said a refund will be given and that chef isnt there and she won't ask him if he confirmed a refund . I'm am absolutely disgusted with how i have been treated . Please dont fund this company .... i cant believe I even tried this place... not only was the service shocking the food was vile ( the bits I tried )

Have always used this take away and it use to be the best by far - however last month I ordered the duck and pancakes - after pulling out 4 massive bones and a big fatty lump of gristle I was left with hardly any duck - we put it down to a bad experience and ordered Again tonight - I’ve just thrown £38 worth of food in the bin - the egg fried rice was stodgy and tasteless , there was a strange firm jelly type long tubular thing that definitely wasn’t chicken in my black bean sauce - which totally put me off eating it - the chips were black and greasy , the pancake roll was over cooked and soaked through with grease - there were hardly any noodles in the chow mein and we waited an hour and 15 minutes for the delivery - the only thing edible was my spare ribs which were very nice - the rest has gone in the bin definitely won’t be using this restaurant again - very disappointed especially as it was suppose to be a Mother’s Day treat
