We visited for dinner on a Saturday. It’s a long and narrow space and we were seated towards the back. Although not publicised on the menu they did offer a fish & chips option for our 2 kids. Meanwhile me and my wife shared the smoked aubergine, potato bread, stonebass crudo, haddock burger, chickpea pancake and a skate wing. This was a generous quantity of food. The quality was pretty decent, favourites were the potato bread and the haddock burger. We weren’t enticed by their dessert options so we skipped it. Service was friendly and quite efficient. Our bill came to £210, of which £65 was spent on drinks. Overall a pleasant dinner although missing a bit of wow factor, especially given the reputation of Jackson Boxer. Thinking of seafood alternatives in the area, my top pick would be Faber (in Hammersmith), where I did enjoy the food and overall ambience a bit more.

I think Orasay sums up what is good and bad about the London restaurant scene. It was very well reviewed when it opened and friends who had visited over the past 12 months have raved about it. It's busy and relaxed and full of vaguely attractive people. I enjoy that sort of thing on an night out. But on the whole I found Orasay unremarkable. To take one dish as an example: the assortment of pickles included some roasted artichoke -- but just the leaves, which were tough and largely inedible. The chewed mouthful had to be removed and placed on the side of the plate. The other pickles were OK but indelicately pickled - i.e. flavours obscured by too much vinegar. This is a simple dish that is done very well in different variations at other London restaurants (the Clipstone for example). The dishes we chose that are Orasay signatures (e.g the haddock bun, the potato bread and roe) were well executed and tasty, but ... just not really exceptional. The bun for the haddock bun is too big in relation to the haddock (*sigh* this is so London). The wine list was largely over-priced (*sigh* again). Our bill was £283 for three. We did not skimp. I was left feeling .... I wish I was back in Italy or France; that amount would have bought us what I would call a real Michelin experience.

The last time I was at the Orasay was 2 years ago. It had great food then and it still has delicious, creative meals. A beautiful small restaurant in Nottinghill with superb staff and waitpersons who are knowledgeable and very helpful. I’ll go back every time I’m in London.

first visit with friends and family. Atmosphere is friendly and cosy. Not formal which is a relief. Service is attentive and professional but welcoming and friendly. It helps create a lovely welcoming vibe. The food is inventive and delicious. The chef is obviously leading a very skilled team here and has created a destination that more than lived up to our expectations. Would recommend to anyone and will be back.

Pretty poor food quality, size and extremely overpriced. Food is extremely salty/ fishing and walked away not really enjoying anything I ate with a very large bill (despite only ordering 4 dishes). The baked rice was so baked that it was all burnt to the bottom- I have this dish numerous times before and that is definitely how it should be but likely because the portion was so small. Cod Roe potato bread was too salty and tasted stale.

A very disappointing night out. First of all the tables are right next to each other so everyone is stacked inside like sardines. The server explained the menu in detail to the table next to us and then when it came to our order we asked if he could walk us through the menu we were told the menu is self-explanatory. The table next to us complained that the portions were so small and if there was something wrong with the order, low and behold a few minutes later we experienced the same thing. Being charged for what seems to be a main dish but is a tapas-style portion. The broth of the fish tasted like nothing and the fish was so so. Reviews seem to point out how good the food is, but maybe we (and the table next to us) were just unlucky that night, guess I will never find out as this place will never see us again

Huge thank you to all staff, I shall most definitely be returning for dinner!

Utterly shocking service from the staff. They were rude to me and my friends when we asked very politely for some bread. I also overheard them talking loudly about each other very disrespectfully and unprofessionally. The food was ok but not worth what your pay for considering how small the portions are. Mostly shocked by the staff’s conduct.

My favourite restaurant in the world. Every dish is perfect and we find ourselves ordering almost every item on the menu for fear of missing out. From the potato bread and scallop to the prawns and John Dory, and finishing with the sublime desserts - pure delight. The flavours, balance, simplicity and genius shine through every dish. It’s cosy and welcoming and the staff are always friendly and knowledgable. As always, we can’t wait to go back.

This was my fourth time at Orasay but first since the new head chef has taken over and I still love it. The flavours were impeccable as always - we had the croquette (so flavoursome), squid, potato bread and spring lamb and it was all delicious. The prices have become pretty punchy (£11 for 3 pieces of asparagus?) but I still think worth it for the lovely ambience (I just love the decor) and great food. Service also friendly. My only complaint would be around the drinks service - we were sitting right by the bar and there seemed to be a lot going on with pouring the wine (airators etc) but the wine was then quite a bit behind the food… I would rather have a glass just poured and given to me in time to be enjoyed with my food in all honesty. Still a perfect date night spot and good overall experience.

Orasay relies on the deep pockets of its local Notting Hill customers, who are lucky enough to not care about being taken for an absolute ride. From sitting down to food on the table: 1 hr. The food? Nice but not great - there were moments where the flavours were lost entirely. The timing of wine and food was totally disjointed, and the service? Near impossible to catch anyone’s attention. We were served the wrong food, and by that point, we cancelled our order of a second bottle of wine, mainly because by the time it was about to be uncorked, we were done with the meal. Not an ounce of regret or apology from the staff, who boldly said “I hope you enjoyed, thank you so much for coming .” A shame, and entirely avoidable.

Orasay is located in Nottinghill just a block away from the Portobello Road Market which was very crowded, probably as usual, when I was there on Saturday. It’s a nice size restaurant, open and bright. I had a great red vermouth from Oregon - I’m from the states and didn’t know Oregon made vermouth! It was a great intro to the restaurant. Then I had 3 oysters that were served with a raspberry sauce and a thin slice of cucumber, very good and fresh. Then a scallop served on a shell with diced celeriac and shiitake mushrooms sitting in a nice vin juane sauce. Dessert was a light delicious chocolate sitting a bit of white chocolate mousse. Service was excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient. If I had more time I would definitely go back and try more of the unique menu items.

Food was pretty good..though not sure about the Whitebait starters. Gosh the service was terrible. You order your drink and then wait 20 mins later. Waiter doesn’t realise you have not got your drinks so you need ti try and get their attention if you can. How long does it take to bring a bottle of wine out. We got our starters first! Then we tried to order some more items..then that too takes forever. Both to order and receive. Totally disjointed! Oh and then your drinks arrive much later if you order seconds.

So, check what time the business opens on a Sunday. On Google it states 12pm. I walk past at 12.30 and it’s still not open. I saw a man walk towards the door and get turned away. He told me they open in 10/15 minutes. I walked through portobello with my son and wasted my time. Please if it doesn’t open at 12 then don’t advertise it as doing so.
