Operetta in Glasgow City

El desequilibrio fue exagerado, pero no teníamos otra opción dada la limitada hora del almuerzo, así que comimos todo en un sufrimiento silencioso. Mi esófago y mi intestino sintieron el ardor de las especias mucho después.Igualmente malas fueron las paranthas, que eran paranthas congeladas de la marca 'shaana' compradas en la tienda que se calentaron y nos sirvieron. Inmediatamente los reconocimos haberlos tenido antes. Y tampoco eran de la mejor calidad.A mitad de la comida, notamos que no había señales del acompañamiento de yogur con el plato de parantha - garbanzos. La camarera se disculpó nuevamente y nos trajo una pequeña taza que contenía una cucharada de lo que parecían excrementos de paloma. Esta fue la 'Raitha'.Lo dejamos disgustado, concluimos una experiencia de comida miserable en un restaurante que tenía muchas esperanzas, dado el cambio en la administración. . . E izquierda.Podría hacer la comida para llevar Dosa nuevamente, ocasionalmente, pero de lo contrario, nunca volveré a comer aquí.

Extremadamente insatisfecho con la opereta. En el trabajo habíamos organizado un almuerzo de equipo en el trabajo para la 1 pm. Llegamos alrededor de la 1: 05 pm ya que está más o menos al lado de nuestro edificio de trabajo. La experiencia fue terrible de principio a fin. Primero el pedido de bebidas era incorrecto. La comida, aunque se ordenó previamente que estuviera lista a la llegada, no se sirvió hasta alrededor de la 1:30 p.m. Sin embargo, curiosamente, la comida que habíamos estado esperando eran los mismos alimentos que se mantenían bajo lámparas de calor en el mostrador al lado de la cocina. Cuando finalmente recibimos nuestra comida, hacía frío, ¡como se esperaba bajo una lámpara de calor durante unos 25 minutos! . No se hizo otro pedido ya que ya no sirven ese artículo (como está en un menú antiguo) que tan amablemente decidieron decirnos esto después de que la comida ya se había servido alrededor de la mesa dejando a una persona sin un plato. Después de ofrecer hacer "algo rápido" para dicho individuo debido a su error, rechazamos cortésmente ya que ahora se acercaba a las dos menos cuarto, y como solo teníamos una hora para almorzar, ¡este individuo no tenía tiempo para comer! Tal vez habría tenido un poco más de sentido para la chica por teléfono que tomó nuestro pedido anticipado para informarnos que ya no sirven este plato o que nos avisen a la llegada para que se pueda elegir una opción alternativa, pero oye, ¿qué hago? ¡saber! Solo trabajo en servicio al cliente. Cuando recibimos nuestra factura que estaba a medio camino de que todos comieran, decidimos pagar individualmente, a lo que los encantadores caballeros que solo puedo asumir como gerente dijeron "bueno, es un poco doloroso, pero está bien", así que está comiendo macarrones fríos, pero ¡aquí estamos!

Visité aquí como parte de un almuerzo en equipo, llamé y pedimos nuestra comida más temprano esta mañana y cuando llegamos esperamos 30 minutos para que nos la sirvieran, a pesar de que 3 de nuestras comidas estaban claramente sentadas bajo la lámpara de calor. 2 de las comidas (Mac y queso y espagueti) que pedimos nunca llegaron a pesar de que el miembro del personal que se encargó de pre-ordenar me leyó todo, 1 de estas comidas ya no estaba disponible debido a la falta de un chef italiano en las premisas. Rápido para que el reemplazo de macarrones con queso sea traído a nuestra mesa. Las minas, que habían estado sentadas bajo la lámpara de calor durante 30 minutos, eran duras y los chips estaban fríos y tuvieron que enviarlos de vuelta, aunque el servidor ofreció calentarlos en el microondas y reemplazarlos con otra comida, no fue Vale la pena la espera.Cuando se trataba de pagar la factura, el gerente se acercó a la mesa y preguntó si estábamos pagando la factura juntos o por separado, cuando uno de los miembros del grupo preguntó si estaba bien pagar por separado, el gerente respondió 'está bien pero será un poco doloroso si soy honesto 'El joven miembro del personal que se ocupó de nosotros no podría haber sido más amable, nos quitó las bebidas, nos dio algunos pasteles y fue muy agradable en general, así como la señora que se ofreció a reemplazar las comidas.Nos informaron que, de hecho, no toman pedidos anticipados con las comidas y esto fue hecho por error por alguien que trabajaba en un departamento diferente del restaurante.Una vez más, el personal con el que tratamos, aparte del gerente, todos eran encantadores e hicieron todo lo posible para ayudarnos.

Went into Operetta today for a quick lunchtime bite to eat. Had been in about 2 years ago and it seemed ok, however today was totally different.The lunchtime menu had 5 items marked as gluten free. Veg Pakora, two types of salads, fries and Mexican Chilli with rice.I asked the waitress (who was very nice and not in anyway saying anything about her) about the gluten free options and she said she didn’t know what gluten was!!! Bad start, however she said she asked the chef about the fries and she said he checked the ‘bag’ and it didn’t say if they were gluten free so he wasn’t sure! (Checked the bag!!, really?? )Even though it was advertised as gluten free on the menu. So made the mistake of just ordering them, pakora and the Mexican Chilli. Apart from all the food being lukewarm other than the fries (which were stone cold) everything was of the poorest standard I have had in a very long time. An hour or so after leaving I felt ill, now not saying and can’t confirm if this was why, but the food was absolutely disgusting and I advise anyone to check the gluten free options as I don’t think they are following the allergen guidance for a restaurant as they should be, especially if they don’t know what is advertised on their menu as gluten free is gluten free!!Very disappointed as I thought this place was ok a few years ago but has obviously went downhill. Sounds to me as if there is no staff training if their staff don’t know what gluten is!! The worry for me is other than gluten contamination is there a risk of more dangerous allergens which could effect people in a very serious way??Coeliacs and people with allergens please be aware and be very careful if going to Operetta!!

Firstly, I must say that I have been to Operetta on many occasions and it had always been a good experience. That is why my recent visit was so disappointing. I had booked a table for 1.45, and when we arrived the (very nice) waitress advised that “ some” dishes had run out, and they are ‘doing something with the kitchen’. As we were hungry we decided not to try to find somewhere else. What we didn’t appreciate was just how limited our choice would be! Alarm bells started to ring when we looked at the tiny menu, which bore no resemblance to any of our previous visits. Operetta sells itself as ‘traditional Italian with a modern twist’. Therefore we were surprised to see the only Italian main course was lasagna (this was one of the dishes that was unavailable) In fact, the only main dishes available were fish and chips (no tartar sauce though), a chicken burger and chips, a beef burger and chips, or macaroni cheese ( we could have had paninis or sandwiches( no baked potatoes left either), but if we had wanted that kind of lunch we would have gone to a sandwich shop). The food itself was pretty poor (the mountain of chips didn’t make up for the tasteless burgers ( one beef, one chicken) or the tasteless fish. It was just low quality pub food thrown on a plate. No one asked how the our meals were, even when we left most of our food. The last straw was when the staff started tidying up while we were still there. Placing chairs on tables and vacuuming around us (I kid you not!!!). This was about 3pm and they do not close until 5pm according to the website. I have rarely felt so unwelcome. After many pleasant visits to Operetta this will definitely be my last. Glasgow has plenty of great lunch spots to choose from, at the moment Operetta is not one of them

Met with a friend to give this place a second chance. First visit the plates were roasting but curry was cold especially the chicken. Second visit chips were cold, burger was rare and both of us had severe stomach pains after this.

If you want a great breakfast for a great price in Glasgow city centre this is the place. It’s unbeatable. Other meals are also very good. Breakfast stands out from the crowd!

Booked for lunch. Service was fine and didn't wait too long to be served however the whole meal was luke warm, including the tea. Didn't have time to re-order.

Very poor service. Soup of the day not available but remained advertised. Wrong sandwich choice delivered. Almost inedible. Given Bill for another table - after a long wait. Maybe just a bad day? But I won't go back.

Siempre he sido un cliente habitual aquí con un panini uno de mis almuerzos favoritos. Sin embargo, en las últimas ocasiones he pedido un panini y me han servido una baguette calentada. No estoy seguro de por qué han dejado de servirlo en un panini adecuado, pero esto era pesado y se calienta en un microondas en lugar de la prensa de panini. Pensé que era algo especial, pero sucedió otra dos veces, tan reacio a volver a visitarlo, lo cual es una pena, ya que he estado yendo aquí durante años.

¡He tenido algunos pero este fue el mejor que he tenido! No era la más saludable, tenía aros de cebolla, mayonesa y queso, PERO estaba delicioso y estaba acompañado de deliciosas papas fritas:) Un buen regalo.

Habría caminado por operatto pensando que era solo un pequeño café pero un amigo sugirió que nos encontráramos allí. Es enorme por dentro. El personal muy atento me dirigió a la zona de asientos en la parte de atrás y la camarera no podría haber sido más amable. Me ofrecieron una bebida, pero me pidieron que esperara hasta que llegara mi amigo. La comida era deliciosa, tenemos ensaladas de sopa y refrescos para menos de 20. Excelente precio para el centro de la ciudad y comida servida rápidamente. Mesas que se limpian y limpian constantemente. Almuerzo agradable

I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks back as I was in the area for a business meeting. I was struck by the size of the place as we walked what felt like two miles past a huge cue lined up for what I assumed was take away food (always a good sign). We were shown to our table by a polite and courteous server and began browsing the menu. Our drinks arrived very quickly and we placed our order. I decided on a hot sauce chicken salad while my dining companion chose the steak pie. The waiter then took our order to the open kitchen literally 20 feet away! We got a little distracted by the chefs working and watched expecting a bit of Hells Kitchen, not a bit of it though, the chefs seemed happy as the laughter emminating from the kitchen carried out into the restaurant. The food arrived quickly considering the restaurant was really busy and I must admit I didn’t expect much in the way of quality but I was surprised. My salad was delicious, the crispy chargrilled chicken on my salad had been tossed in hot sauce almost like a glaze and the smokey char flavour complimented the salad perfectly. My companions steak pie was also really good, topped with a huge slab of pastry, his only complaint was that he didn’t like the veg. All in it was a good little find and we will be sure to head in again if we are in the district.

Place is brilliant. In particular Edwina (Eddie) made the wait in the queue worth it. Plenty banter & she comes with a side-kick, wee Lorraine or Lyndsey, brilliant. Makes the experience more asthetically pleasing. Defenetly going back. Keep it up. Give the lassie a rise!

A few days ago I was in for a quick lunch, I witnessed a staff member with glasses who was on the till behind the counter using inappropriate language toward other staff members, I was actually disgusted and wanted to say something, ( shop owner myself) instead I opted too leave and told other colleagues who use the cafeteria to stay clear, totally disgusted, come on guys treat your staff better! No member of staff should ever be spoken to like that, !

Perhaps a one off, but very poor lunch comprising re-heated chips & inedible chicken burger. Disappointing not to be asked by staff if everything was ok. Unfortunately will not be back :(

Food certainly decent very fast and well priced but massive no no and am sure Heinz would not be impressed with watering down the ketchup- like why ?

Walked passed operatta loads of times but never actually been in to yesterday and god I did ! Lunch was great . Menu had loads of choices and food arrived quick! Both servers were very friendly and happy to help. Main course and a coffee and in and out in just under an hour

absolutely fantastic place for lunch! I go in most days for my sandwich...such a great selection of fillings, fresh food and very reasonable in price in comparison to most city centre places! also the service of the staff is first class, especially Edwina...she delivers service with a lovely smile and great chat! I have all or most of my breakfast meetings and sometimes lunch with my clients and colleagues in here. Friendly staff who remember you and greet you with warmth. Food is lovely and certainly starts your day off the right way

I love this restaurant. Great food, good portion size, very friendly staff, very affordable prices. Well worth more than one visit. Brilliant.

Este lugar ha ido cuesta abajo drasticaly rápido! La semana pasada fui a un bollo de desayuno a las 9. 30, no hay comida preparada en todo, esperamos alrededor de 15 minutos en lo que sólo puede ser descrito como un caos. Finalmente conseguí mi rollo y enlaces (pagado por un bollo de patata pero faltaba) cuando llegué a la mitad del enlace era crudo! Terminé enfermo toda la noche y todo lo que tenía era la mitad de este comimos roll. Ayer decidí probarlo de nuevo, sopa y de nuevo enfermo toda la noche.

Comida muy agradable personal atento era delicioso hicimos comida para llevar casa ensalada! El único defecto era la salsa con el pastel de carne que evitaría o pedir sin salsa. No me ha puesto otra vez en ir, ya que el precio era muy razonable para un restaurante en el centro de la ciudad.

We visit regularly for business lunches. Usually 4/5 of us pop in for lunch during the week.

I've just had the worst takeaway roll I've ever had. Both the sausage and the potato scone were dried out and on the point of being inedible. Such a disappointment as the rolls here are usually good.

Been going to operetta every lunchtime for years as I loved the food, but in the last few months it has really gone downhill. I don’t know if there are new chefs or owners but the great tasting quality food has been replaced with cheap, bland, poor quality and tasteless rubbish. Portion sizes and choice of items have also been reduced but the price is the same! I’m so disappointed as it was my favourite place to get lunch. Sad to say I won’t be back.

This has to be the most over priced take away in Glasgow. I tried it for lunch 2 weeks ago and the Macaroni cheese and chips costing £5.15 was disgusting dried up and tasteless. I thought I would try again yesterday for a breakfast roll thinking the rotten lunch may have been a one off.. How wrong I was a roll with cheap sliced sausage with the worst potatoe scone I have ever seen it was soaking in oil and limp. Really vile. This place is a disgrace how they can sell this muck is beyond me. !!!! They should be ashamed.

Quick and pleasant service. The Chicken Soup was a delicious concoction with a lot of chicken in it. Chicken curry to follow was “ok”. Personal preference is I’m not a fan of chicken breast in curry. Coffees were fine. Value excellent. Loyal following in CBD of Glasgow; “does what it says on tin”. Quick service, good food, reasonable prices and a known quantity.

Been a lunchtime customer for over a decade but with new management looming it would appear that value for money is a thing of the past. Opperetta has always been higher priced but it was previously worth it. Now the portion sizes on take away hot food have shrunk massively but the high price remains! My 2 point rating is 1 point for the staff as they are amazing and an additional point for the quality of food. Just a shame there wasn't that much of it for the astronomical price.

came here with work mates very handy for me as round the corner from my work I got the Caesar salad was ok not the best I have quite dry and the chicken was quite dry , very noisy to sit in and eat but...

We had a lovely lunch in Operetta while the rest of the City was still recovering from ‘the beast from the east’. The staff are delightful and the food is delicious. Even if it’s not on your doorstep, it is worth making an extra effort...

Two dropped in for lunch. Swift attention on the ball..great choice and very good service. Steak Pie homemade and a really nice chicken curry. Busy with shoppers and office workers. Well worth a visit

I have visited this place many times for lunch, sitting in and take away as well. The food was very good all the time and service was great. They have a wide range of options, so it is great for all tastes. The price is great, and the portions are really big, especially for a place that offers take away as well. Will come back several times.

Opereta es un lugar magnífico para el desayuno y el almuerzo. Maravilloso rollitos de salchicha, gran café, platos de pasta, y pudines maravilloso para morirse. Los precios son muy razonables y un excelente servicio.

Mis amigos y yo decidimos venir aquí en lugar de Wetherspoon porque queríamos ir por algo mejor que una comida refrigerados. Resultó ser uno de los peores decisiones he hecho en mis tres años en Glasgow. Yo pedí una tortilla y apenas podía llegar a través de ella y cuando mi amigo pedimos huevos escalfados, era obvio que estaban superficial. Lo único positivo era el café que fue simplemente mediocre. No estoy seguro de cómo la comida es aquí, pero me quedaría claro el desayuno. Seguro usted mismo el problema e ir a Wetherspoon's a desayunar.

I would normally give this restaurant a sparkling review based on food and service. I booked a table for 17.45 pm on Tuesday using their online system and received a confirmation email. On arriving at the restaurant I was told that they closed at 18.00 and they didn't have my booking. We had to leave and go elsewhere. I have since contacted the restaurant using their website, their email address and FB Messenger and they have NOT responded or acknowledged my communications at all. This is very poor treatment of a regular customer and I am to say the least very disappointed!

I ha e been visiting Operetta fairly regularly for the past 4 years or so, always at lunchtime during the week. They offer a good value lunch menu which changes daily, lots of choice and really quick service which is a bonus if you only have an hour. Great selection of cakes too!

Great choice of food here, I opted for the steak pie which I thought was great.Others opinions were varied, but I enjoyed mine. Veg was a little bit undercooked, but thankfully that's how I like mine.Good choice for a quick lunchtime visit, but would probably advise to book as people were queuing for a table.Don't be put off when you enter at first as it's also a takeaway for lunches - the restaurant being further through the back.

Friendly, welcoming staff.Perfect for grabbing an pre work bite too eat and coffee to go or if you are looking for a place to pop into for Lunch - You can have a sit in or take away. Highly recommended

Just had lunch at Operatta - first visit and I hope it wont be the last. The server was very nice and took our order promptly. I had the risotto which was delicious and my friend had the New York deli sandwich which she said was fab and really filling.The restaurant is nice - has a good feel to it with people sitting eating or waiting to get takeaway - very relaxed and nice to eat in. Will definitely be back!

We both popped in here Lunch and were promptly seated in a comfortable Booth at the window. Service was efficient & prompt. Our huge starters of Scampi could have been served as a main. It tasted good. We both had the Steak Pie which was hot & tasty. We will definitely return. The food is great value.

The irony is that this is one of the worst restaurants in Glasgow located in a prime area with little competition. Therefore, there is no way this joint will go out of business simply because it does good business despite the garbage it serves. I give it two stars - one each for the soup and a for two nice ladies behind the counter.Like many others who find this location convenient, I pop in occasionally for soup - which is decent - and toastie - just edible. These toasties come out burnt when I ask for "well-done, not burnt" and by the time I open the packet to discover a charcoal sandwich, I'm a wee distance away from going back to getting it changed. This has happened to me a few times, with the last one as recent as today. Like the fool and his £2.50 that are parted, I probably deserve this punishment as I'm a glutton for it. But I think this experience has been the last straw that's broken the Camel's back in my case. I will starve..even hold on to a lamp post to prop myself as I die of hunger, but never will I eat a sandwich - burnt or otherwise - from this place!

Absolute dirt!... that's how my husband described it to friends afterwards. I reviewed this place about a year ago and we loved it. Absolutely no comparison this time. First we waited a few moments at the door to be seated..no one came. We made to go further into the restaurant to get a seat ourselves only to be flown at by a young waitress and told "sit here". She had put us up near the door which proved to be very draughty, I could say when the food came it made the food cold but actually the food was already cold! I ordered black coffee which was so strong you could have stood on it, and ONE slice of toast and One slice of bacon and two SOFT poached eggs. You will note from the photo that I got two slices of toast, two "slices of bacon and one poached egg. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES when the food arrived...The toast was either burnt or warmed bread which was soaking wet where it had soaked up the water from the one poached egg. The egg in question looked like rubber and when I poked my knife into it, it was hard. The bacon... well enough to say the look and smell of it made me shy away fast. I left my breakfast and ate some of my husband's "freshly made pancakes" which were thick and stodgy and not fresh. I complained to the woman taking my money but she just shrugged. My husband said to leave it there, which goes against the grain for me but I did as I didn't want it to spoil his birthday and our visit to Glasgow...but rest assured we won't ever darken their door again as this has to rank as the worst food and service EVER!!! (because I reviewed it before T.A. won't allow me to post the photo but I'll try again at a later date!)

We arrived at 11:15am looking for a bite to eat . I am not the biggest fan of breakfast foods so enquired if I could have a baked potato , but that wasn't possible. Fair enough. I ordered the cheese and onion omelette, and my partner the bacon and syrup waffles. The staff were very slow. Took 10 minutes to come with drinks and then 15 minutes went by an they then announced they had no bacon. They offered to either put links sausage or bacon from the sandwich counter, he went with the latter. The omelette was really good and reasonably priced. Sad to see some of my partners bacon on my plate though!!(thankfully spotted before I ate it). It then took a further 10 minutes to try andflag down someone to get the bill. Members of staff seemed to be floating about the restaurant not really paying attention to customers. An overallEnjoyable experience but I feelMore care needs to be given to customer service.

Busy modern layout and atmosphere. Going by the constant queuing the take-away counter is very popular with the business district lunchtime crowd. Rather mixed clientele sitting-in, ranging from some older folks having an early festive outing to business groups (us). We stuck to the limited lunch offer. Well priced, but well-limited and predictable. I was told the 'traditional' streak pie was good. Problem was that it and the rest of the course was not very warm. The 2 veg were positively cold and not to be eaten. That was not helped by the regular drift of cold air over our table whenever anyone opened one of the main doors - next time better to sit well inside the main area!Coffees were good but one seemed to be along time coming. A definite positive was the waitress service. She made a point of speaking to me in a friendly welcoming way when I arrived too early before the others and had sort of held back. Service was attentive. Other big positive was none of that intrusive background tinned 'music'. I'd be happy enough to return for a business lunch if others suggested it, but wouldn't make a particular point of it myself.

This is a popular venue when meeting friends for lunch. My previous visit was a bit of a let down as we waited over 30 minutes for our lunch & when your on a 1 hour lunch break it's not enjoyable. However I thought this was a one off as I've been many times and enjoyed it. So when I booked to meet my friend for lunch on 04/11 I expected the usual good service and food I've grown to expect. How disappointed I was. I was meeting my friend who is going a rough time and hoped catching up for some lunch would be a good break away & chance to take her mind no off things for a short while. THREE times our order came out wrong ( not difficult- only soup & toasties) our lunch hour was coming to an end & finally our order arrived. No offer of complimentary tea / coffee or reduced bill. Only explanation was, the waitress is new. The waitress seemed disinterested and matter of fact. There is too many venues around to compete with Operetta for them to let standards slip. Our overall bill came to £29.00 for 2 soups, 2 toasties, 2 soft drinks, 1 tea & 1 coffee. Overall we waited 40 minutes for our soup & toastie despite being asked 4 times to confirm our order by various staff, it still came out wrong 3 times??? Dreadful - pick another venue!!

Hard not to go here every day at work. Sandwich bar has something for everyone even if you want to keep it really healthy.

Happened upon this place by chance after checking out of our hotel. Really landed on our feet. Great Coffee, very good veggie and a normal(!) breakfast and not too expensive either. A really good option if you are waiting for a train or just shopping.

Had lunch here a few times, enjoyed the Macaroni Cheese and also the Lasagne. Good size portions and reasonably priced.Went for dinner the other night and had Sea Bass which was lovely and a nice dessert. Table staff all appear friendly, with a special shoutout to Michael who is always courteous and professional.I would recommend this establishment.P.S Love the Chicken Tikka Salad Boxes.

Operetta isn't somewhere I'd rush back to in a hurry, the staff are extremely friendly but the food wasn't up to much. The food does come extremely quickly and I can imagine that for busy people looking for a quick sit down meal this is great. From ordering, all the mains were out within 5 minutes, I can't even boil the pasta that quickly at home, never mind coat it in sauce and present it on a plate.Personally I thought the macaroni was a bit mushy and greasy, but that might be exactly what people want. Al dente was probably about 10 minutes ago in the boiling process.Quite a relaxed atmosphere, with a shop at the front leading into the restaurant - think Greggs with a Frankie and Bennies behind it and you're there!

Relaxed, informal with some of the cheeriest staff in the city.....Good mix of well priced dishes with something to suit everyone and the Cotes de Rhone is also to be recommended...

Been here many times over the years as I work beside it. On this occasion someone was leaving and there was a party of 17 of us all going for lunch. Staff were well organised and everything ran smoothly. The food itself couldn't be faulted and it's always a great portion that you get. Prices are great too, we only had time for one course but they do specials for 2 and 3 courses.Will be back!

I have sat in to have lunch on a few occasions and the food is good and value for money. Takeaway coffees and breakfasts are also good. Lunchtime takeaway - large selection of sandwiches, soups, salads etc but downside is that it's not reasonably priced at all!. Cheese and ham baguette, diet coke and bar of cadburys chocolate was £6.15 today. Absolute rip off!

Operetta is a lovely restaurant for both takeaway and sit-in service, although it doesn't open on weekends. The food is always high quality with a vast variety of choices. I usually visit once a week for lunch. Tip - request a booth when booking a table.

Go here for lunch with work as close to office.Lunch menu is great, 2 courses deal and is served at rapid speed which is good if you have to be back to the office after an hour!Take away sandwiches are made to order and there is a lot hot food. Reasonably priced and fillings are very generous.

A popular place for lunch with the surrounding offices. Staff are really friendly and helpful, food fresh and tasty and food delivered in plenty of time to allow you to enjoy it before going back to work. The macaroni is legendary (often a topic of conversation in the office).

Visited today for quick business lunch. The place was busy. Service was speedy that staff were friendly and helpful. The table was clean. I had penne arabiatta. It was ok. That about the best I would say about it. The menu had plenty to choose from. Will pick something different next time. If there is a next time.

You could easily walk past Operetta which is situated on the corner of Waterloo Street and West Campbell Street. It looks like a small take away cafe with tables but inside is a large restaurant area. I visited on a Tuesday lunch time and you could have been forgiven for thinking that it was a Friday night. The place was buzzing. And no wonder. There's a good, well priced lunch menu with a wide range of snacks/dishes. I had the seafood risotto and it was very good indeed. Extremely tasty with a generous helping of Calamari, mussels and fish. The portions in the main dishes are generous.Considering how busy it was, the service was very good.This is an excellent place for a good quality lunch at a reasonable price.

Always busy with a nice atmosphere. Excellent choices for breakfast. Have also been for lunch which I’d say is a bit overpriced for the quality…

Popped in here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend and was surprised at how good it was. The macaroni was excellent as was the service. Nice working lunch.

Popped in today for a quick lunch. Trying to be good I built up the courage to avoid many of the very attractive looking dishes on an authentic looking Italian menu... And went for the Caesar Salad. It was pretty darn good but was utterly swimming in dressing... Plenty of chicken, lots of anchovies & croutons... But probably in excess of 1200 calories... The staff take pride in their work and the chef was visibly interested in the guests reactions so I'd say the owners have got a good team that are focused on customer satisfaction...Definitely worth a visit...

We have been going here for some time. Usually it's our "lunch buddies" and occasionally on our own. It is an office workers destination, due to its location, quality, great staff and reasonable prices! It is primarily a lunchtime destination, VERY popular, so book! Great lunchtime menu and great staff.

Our only disappointment here was that we didn't find this place until our last day. The service was brilliant, lovely friendly staff and the food was some of the best we have had in Glasgow. We only had breakfast here but will definitely go back for the dinner menu next time

A group of us went to Operetta for lunch and we're all delighted by our meals.The restaurant is popular and therefore busy at lunchtime. The five of us selected different dishes, lentil soup and prawn cocktail for starters - these went down very well. I opted to go straight to a main course of their own burger and fries. It was excellent and very filling. My colleagues had chicken curry, steak pie an ravioli. All really enjoyed their dishes. Two of us had missed out starters to go for some of delicious looking desserts, however, our mains filled us to the point where we had to cancel our puddings!With drinks and a tip, we were £10 each - excellent value!

I love this diner, the staff are really friendly and they remember you and make a fuss to ensure you get seated. It gets really busy between 12-2:00 for lunch and people might be surprised that you may need to book. Its also really good for breakfast, again can be very busy. Good menu range from value deals to a la carte. I'm a regular!If its really busy the service attention can drop.

Lunch Specials Menu changes daily with various soups and Mac & Cheese/Lasagne is always given a mention, with a few other different dishes also being on offer.

Enjoyed Christmas lunch at this city centre restaurant with office party. Busy Friday before Christmas but service was efficient for both food and drinks. Main course portion was a bit too large for me but that apart, it was a good meal.

4 of us went to Operetta for a 2 course lunch. when we arrived we were seated straight away and a drinks order was swiftly taken. Our order was taken quickly also and each of us ordered a starter and main course. The starter was very quick, cooked well, however the side salad of green leaves were unfortunately warm and browning.Unfortunately our main course took another half an hour to arrive. The place was very busy, as expected, however we could see tables receiving their mains that had arrived after we did. only 2 arrived followed by a 3-4 minute wait for the remaining 2. The mains were really nice, again cooked well, the side salads much better quality, however 2 of us were unable to finish our main courses and had to leave the plates half full - the service was simply too slow and we had to return to the office.Only 1 table server was seen. More staff was definitely required for this busy time.

I visit this place at least once a fortnight and have come wise to always booking and asking for Michael.The service this man provides is second to none no matter how busy he is he takes time to ask how you are and hes genuine some of the female staff should take a leaf out his book especially the lady at back till think related to management she looks like shes been sooking lemons never cracks a smile. The food is always excellent fast and fresh just what you need at lunchtime always busy great location and value for money.

This is a great restaurant. It is a Glasgow italian i.e. you get chips with your lasagne, but don't let this put you off. The food is pretty good and the lunch is great value £7.95 for 2 courses. The lunch menu has a choice of 6 soups and a few other items for starters. The soups are all excellent and there is a choice of about 10 mains. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a buzz about the place. It caters for office workers so it is not open at weekends. Must check opening times.

Good food good service good value, highly recommend this great little Italian. Lunch time menu is great and good portion sizes for the cost. Can be very busy at lunch time maybe book to guarantee a seat.

We had a great breakfast there on a Friday morning. Very reasonably priced too and much cheaper than our hotel.Having walked there in the rain the next morning (Saturday), everything was closed for the weekend! Great for custom!!!

Have not been in here for a wee while and went for lunch today and it did not disappoint. Always friendly staff and food served quick. Their minestrone soup is chock full of veg and tasty and they have a specials menu 1-2 or 3 courses deal.The coffee is very good don't know what type it is but it's great. This is mostly city workers I think who are regulars but it's worth a visit even if you don't work in the area, the staff are great to be quite honest a credit to the owners!!

I have been here for lunch a few times as it's near the office. It's absolutely fine but not somewhere that I would come for a fancy meal! The menu is good and there are some good lunch meal deals, but the food is a bit standard for a traditional british option and there's nothing too inventive or imaginative. Saying that, the lentil soup is amazing and I could eat bowls and bowls of it. Just like grandma used to make it!

the older man behind the counter that usually takes payment really needs to learn to say thank you. you feel like crap when you are counting your change and someone is holding their hand hand out for the money before you have even opened your wallet. appalling service. learn to appreciate your customers, if it wasn't for your customers you wouldn't have a business. lighten up.

Been to Opertta several times and enjoyed the experience. Planned a birthday lunch for a friend yesterday and there were 3 of us. Visited shortly before lunch to book and pay for some prosecco so we had it in arrival. Arrived and shown to table in back amidst other close tables. Had prosecco and ordered. Slow to get starters and extremely slow with mains. Saw them under the heat lamps for 15 mins prior to being taken to us and overall wait was 25 minutes- a long time for lunch! My own pasta was very dry so returned it. Chose not to get a replacement as it may take even longer. Had a scoop of ice cream instead which took 10 mins to come. No reflection in bill of this and full price paid, plus a tip for the waiting staff who were run off their feet. Spoke to manager in way out and she said she was sorry! Will not rush back as clearly management not interested In customers anymore. Very disappointed.

visited with colleagues after a meeting in the city centre. First impressions- pretty good. Friendly waiting staff, nice decor, good atmosphere. Pretty busy which is always a good sign in this day and age. The fixed price lunch menu had plenty of choices and was a reasonable price. plenty of other choices available from other menus or special boards - actually quite difficult to decide what we wanted. mac 'n' cheese with chips was huge and lovely. Colleagues opted for a variety of pasta dishes - clean plates all round. Toilets clean and well presented- although some hand towels in the cubicle would be good - without them the wash hand basis is pretty pointless. Our waitress was a lovely lady- really sorry i forgot to get her name - made our visit fun and enjoyable. couldn't fault anything . Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Cooked breakfast, lunch and carryout sandwiches make this a very convenient and affordable alternative to a more expensive Hotel breakfast/lunch. This is a restaurant that is used to busy morning and lunchtime business customers. Not just a Scottish Full Breakfast is available on the menu. I had French toast and Bacon and was not disappointed.

I've never known a place to have such an identity crisis.Is it a restaurant? A cafe? A greasy spoon. I've been in a couple of times, breakfast and lunch. I just cannot get my head round the concept. The staff are great. Well, some of them. Normally I don't write reviews but after my most recent visit ( forced on me by work colleagues ) I felt I must write something. The man at the front desk is unusually loud which gives a feeling of a very casual, bar/pub setting, but if you dare lift a cake, juice or sandwich from the fridge then the staff are over like a shot to make sure you pay the correct amount. One staff member, tall with glasses, is very efficient and friendly. However there are a couple of members of staff on the floor that seem out of place. A tall girl who seems like she would be more suited to a fine dining setting as her mannerisms and tonr are not suited to this casual restaurant. Then at the opposite end of the scale there is a small girl who acts as though she should be working in the same bar as the man at the front desk! Abrupt and service not great. The kitchen is open plan. To most people this would mean, clean, tidy, presentable and above all a team that are aware that they are in an open kitchen. In this place, they clearly don't realise that their customers can hear all of the shouting and swearing. Sadly, on a final note, there seems to be an abundance of flies. Which is a shame. The place looks the part ( other than the lick of paint it requires or the booth seating which requires new leather ) it's open and spacious and could be great. Management need to spend some more time on training as the staff simply do not live up to the expectations when you come through the door.Food is average. Think wetherspoons, with smaller portions and bigger prices. Especially the drinks. £3 for a pint of draught juice. Avoid it if you can, but if you must go, have a sandwich. Better value and taste than the lunch or a la carte menu.

The food from Operatta is simply excellent!They offer a great variety from their breakfast range.Their lunch range is also expansive. If you visit you should try the macaroni and chips! They also do great wraps and ciabattas!The night time menu is also superb!Beautiful setting and very friendly staff, which I think i know all of their names.If you want a great breakfast, lunch or dinner then you should definitely give this place a try!

Nothing fancy. Good coffee and tea. Plenty of room and really nice staff. We sat for a few hours and had a meeting and they were totally relaxed. We ordered sandwiched which were nice and fresh. Good ingredients. Very nice staff. Would go back as a nice option compared to the national chains and plenty of room.

I needed somewhere central in Glasgow to catch up with a friend. We decided to meet at Operatta. It was a warm afternoon and we were looking for something cold and yet, healthy. We were really glad to see the smoothies on the menu. We could sit, catch up and enjoy our smoothies without any interruption. Nice place. Good atmosphere.

Good choice for a lunch time sandwich. You can make your own and they have a selection of different breads and fillers. The place is always busy for sandwiches and sitting in.
