02/04/2018: A few of us came here for Sunday lunch recently & it was very pleasant to see that their menu whilst offering the obligatory roasts it did offer a few other choices. Two of our party did opt for roasts whilst one went for a tuna dish, another for a burger & I chose fish & chips. The general consensus was that most people enjoyed their food but if I’m honest it wasn’t the best fish & chips I’d ever had, the fish was slightly overcooked & along with the batter tasted quite bland. The chips were ok but the mushy peas & tartare sauce accompaniments didn’t have much flavour – pretty average. Some of our party decided to have desserts & did enjoy what they had. The service was also a bit hit & miss, but friendly – we’d literally sat down & were having a quick chat & were asked if we’d chosen food when none of us had even had a chance to look at the menu - the place wasn't very busy & I wasn't aware that we were in a rush! The pub has a very good beer choice but looks very tired & tatty in places & my overall impression was that I don’t think I’ll be visiting for food any time soon.
04/04/2018: It's difficult in Chichester to find somewhere that a) is not a restaurant chain b) welcomes dogs and c) offers food outside 'normal' eating hours. That's why we love the G&D.; It was late afternoon on a horrible rainy bank holiday Monday.. Most pubs not serving food and we can't go into restaurants because we had the dogs with us so we nip into the G&D; and immediately are made to feel welcome. It was cozy and warm inside and the service from Alex was impeccable. Food ordered, us and the dogs watered, we sat down and savoured the atmosphere. A steady trickle of people made it feel lovely and all in all we kind of didn't really want to leave in the end. The food is standard pub grub but hot and delicious and just what we needed. We shared the fish platter and then had pie with veg and bubble and squeak. No room for pud after that! Love the fact that it's a bit tatty, that's part of the charm and adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Thanks Alex for making a miserable afternoon feel so much better!

10/05/2018: The food was nice, the staff were very helpful and it has a good atmosphere. You can site outside in the courtyard if the weather s fine. The order came promptly and was correct. Not an expensive place to eat, although not cheap either. Good value for the price. Would go there again.
24/08/2018: This little cafe is bigger than it looks. It has a large patio out the back under some shades. They sell all sorts of food - when we were there people were having a full English breakfast and others were having tea and cakes. I had a lovely milkshake that was full of ice cream. Yummy!
