Onggi Korean Cuisine in Leicester

Food was brilliant, traditional Korean. Service was slow. But given our big group they did well. Unfortunately, the restaurant is small so only good for small groups of people.

I had kimchi gimbap as takeout, and it was absolutely delicious.

Looks unsuspecting from the street, but we enjoyed unbelievably tasty Korean food for dinner that was served up in no time at all. The chicken wings are a must.

A lot seems to have changed here in the last 6 months since I've been, the foods still amazing, you can now order by phone if that's what you prefer, still is just a blast to be in there my only complaint is that the music was just new jeans title tracks on LOOP we heard the same 6 songs over and over and over it was driving me crazy.

Worthy Korean cuisine and it taste nice. Visited on Friday evening, almost full house.

Actual authentic Korean food that tastes similar to my mother's cooking

Amazing fresh homecooked food, they deserve the good ratings. Great selection of dishes on the menu and really friendly staff. We'll definitely go back, need to try everything else!

The food had balance of flavors, freshness, and presentation. The Hamuel Pajeon has a sweetness taste to it alongside the soup called Sundubu-jjigae which contains tofu. The spicy and sweet chicken - yangnyeom chicken was nice too. What made it special was the service. Our server, Cloudy make us feel welcome and well taken care of. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu,

Fabulous cafe style Korean. We left it to our server to choose our meal, as the menu is wonderful but never eaten Korean before, we weren't disappointed. Fabulous food that is cooked authentically by Mum. Prices were very reasonable and would be good for vegans and veggies.

Delicious delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommend the gimbap, sundubu jjigae, and dolsot bibimbap. Upkeep of the toilet can use a bit more care but this isn’t a major critique.

Vistes here for the first time this weekend and had a great experience. I’d make a reservation and our table was set up and ready for us. It was a group booking for four people. The menu has a range of Korean food for you to try and also explore. We got a few things to share such as Korean fried chicken, gimbap . All the food we ordered was fresh and we’ll season and hot temperature. Would recommend and go back again! Our host was always attentive and was able to give us advice on what to order as well as serve us hot water

Bulgogi rice is a must try - no spicy - suitable for who doesn't like spicy Tteobokki is nice - chewy rice cake with gochuchang sauce - normally the korean red pepper sauce is quite mild (im asian so might me it not spicy for me) No seafood dish in Leicester, please - it's not fresh seafood. You might find it "too fishy" All fried chicken are tasty, but idk why dont they sell beer here. Korean chicken with beer is the best combo 😋 Accept bank transfer and cash, no card - no split bil. You can get some take.way box if you can't finish your food 8/10 and quite authentic compared to most of others K restaurant around city center.

It’s my first time to be here for dinner. Honestly, the food was okay. We ordered a seafood pancake which I could only find few pieces of shrimp but lots of spring onion. We ordered a ojingeo deopbap and beef bibimbap. I found it was quite spicy and quite a lot of onion, leek and cabbages but not squid or beef. Also, they accept cash or bank transactions. The lady there is nice and welcoming to us.

Awful service, had us waiting there for ages until we left on our own. Many empty promises telling us they would be with us in 5 mins and only accept cash and bank transfer. Definitely do not recommend and don't know how reviews are so high

Absolutely divine. Food was really great. First time in here and I was impressed. Every thing is freshly made, so a little wait but we'll worth it. Will be going again, as everything sounds and smells amazing. Only slight downside is that it's cash or bank transfer only and the place is quite small but cozy with friendly staff.

It was a great disappointment compared to the last time we've been here. The korean fried chicken wasn't crunchy at all and tested bad as well. Never going back again!

since me and my friend can only consume halal food and this restaurant isn’t, we did what we usually do and decided to order vegetarian dishes. it only occurred to us after ordering that vegetarian dish means “has vegetarian option” and you must specify it to the waiter when you’re ordering. so we panicked and told her, with apologies after every word we say, that we didn’t notice this nuance and if it’s possible for her to change it to veg option or do anything about it. the response we got was her angry expression, loud voice and a stern “you will pay for it, you shouldve asked me before ordering. why didn’t you ask me?” ?? 😭 i know it’s our negligence that we didn’t check the menu carefully but she could’ve used 100 DIFFERENT WAYS of communicating it to us kindly. and even during checkout she was always blunt and acted like we don’t exist, no matter how good the food is honestly stuff like this really puts the customer off and causes a terrible impression

This place is absolutely wonderful. The food is delicious and do reasonably priced! I had the cheese tteokbokki and kimchi jjigae and it was so good, and dining for two of us with sides and a main came to about £30. The one thing to know when going here though is that they don't accept cards, so you have to pay using a bank transfer or cash

I had so many people raving out Onggi but for a good year I never could find the time to try it. And finally I have - and oh was it worth the wait. This is by far the best Korean food experience I've had. Not only were the staff wonderful and had great hospitality, but the food was to die for. I got full a good 3/4 into my food but I powered through because it was so good. My boyfriend ordered two mains, destroyed him visibly but he too agreed it was worth it. I will be coming again, and again, and again!
