Great venue! Great music, cheap drinks fantastic atmosphere! Such a good time for my friends birthday. A special thank you to the lovely bouncer Ish who helped me find my bag at the end of the night. Will defo be returning

Excellent venue, I’ll definitely be visiting again. The bar staff were exceptionally good as were the door staff. For food I would recommend the pepperoni pizza to eat with a nice pint of Guinness

Oniells was great, until we met the doorman on the way out! We had a great time inside, with no issues. The venue itself is great, nice big screen with football on and we stayed for a good hour. Our troubles didn’t start until we left, where we were met with the most racist and obnoxious doorman. As we went to leave, I asked the doorman for a high five. Immediately he said no, which is fine, but then when questioned by other people in our party, decided to loose his mind. There was a heated argument which he made several derogatory comments to my friends and wife. I didn’t like his response so decided to pull him up, which ended in us having an even more heated conversation! My friend told me to leave it, so in the best interest of the situation I did, even though I was still angry at his conduct. My wife was still stood near him and had a conversation about it only being a high five and his exact words to my wife were “you white people think you’re so privileged”!! At this point she turned around and walked away as she knew this guy was racist and was in absolute shock he would say something like this. We’re more offended about the racist comment than anything, as if it was the other way round, I’m sure this doorman would have radioed for the police and we’d all be getting locked up for racism. Pub was great, doorman is racist and offensive and needs investigating!

He estado aquí varias veces. Siempre tiene un buen ambiente y amable. Las últimas veces que he estado, nos hemos encontrado con el mismo miembro del personal que siempre ha sido muy servicial y amable - se llama Ben. Recientemente perdí un artículo muy sentimental mientras estaba en la ciudad un día y envié un correo electrónico a cada bar al que fui para tratar de localizarlo. Ben fue el primero en responder y lo tenía seguro para mí. Estaba muy agradecido (algunos de los bares todavía no han contestado y esto fue hace 2 semanas!) . Sin duda recomendaría O'Neills en York - sin duda nuestro "ir a" lugar como residentes de York. Gracias Ben.

Really good priced and presented meals with pleasant staff,but step entrance hold onto window frame as no rail and toilets down awful stairs. Unfortunately we won't visit again. Surprised in 2025 allowed to open with no disabled toilet.

it's one of my favourite places in york staff are friendly, good food beer banter and sport what more could you ask for, Lauren is especially friendly. I have to edit my review now as Lauren decided to leave to door open on purpose. I'm cold shut the door. Auto closers on the door now happy days

He estado en el O'Neills en Leeds un par de veces y me apunté al plan de lealtad. Recibí una muy buena oferta para hamburguesas y decidí usarla mientras estábamos en un mini descanso en York. El bar está en una ubicación magnífica, justo al otro lado del puente y en la calle frente a la babosa y la lechuga. Llegamos alrededor de las 7 pm y estaba lleno, pero logramos obtener la última mesa. Había carteles reservados en algunas mesas, por lo que podría valer la pena reservar una mesa con antelación. Es un buen bar con un gran ambiente relajado y me encantó la música. Muchas canciones independientes, antiguas y actuales. Revisamos el menú y encontramos que había una oferta de pizza a mitad de semana 2 por 1, así que decidimos eso en lugar de hamburguesas. Las bebidas eran buenas y teníamos una cerveza y una sidra. También había una oferta de bebidas a mitad de semana con una selección de bebidas a £ 3. 50 antes de las 8 pm. Tenemos la pizza de pollo con salsa barbacoa y cebollas rojas. Eran pizzas finas a base de piedra y eran masivas. Nos gustó mucho, muy sabroso. Para 2 pizzas grandes, la mitad de lager y la otra mitad de sidra era menos de 17 libras. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Vale la pena inscribirse en el esquema de lealtad, ya que tienen varias ofertas y ofertas. Gran ambiente y excelente ubicación. Vale la pena una visita

Lovely pub. We intentionally came for the food, but the kitchen was unfortunately closed when we visited, so we decided to just have a couple of drinks instead.

Great pub, plenty of screens to watch sports. Plenty of drinks to choose from. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Hate crime committed by member of staff. Reported to the police avoid this venue. I can’t give further details due to a police investigation however protect yourself and do not visit this bar. **** see note below from establishment. Police have stated that this member of staff will continue to work at this establishment. No feedback from O’Neils has been given. No resolution or safeguards in place.

Gran tarde con los chicos y se topó con este pub. Gran vibra, gran variedad de bebidas. Todos comimos una hamburguesa que fue una de las mejores que he probado. Definitivamente volveremos pronto.

Estábamos de visita en York para el concierto de Minster Carol y decidimos probar O’Neill’s. Resultó ser una gran opción con un excelente ambiente, comida y bebida encantadora y un gran servicio. También muy conveniente para el centro de la ciudad.

Went here for some food and drinks on a Thursday night. They had a happy hour on with cracking prices and the food was just lovely. After a nice chat with the extremely helpful & friendly staff we also found out there was live music on Fridays! Would defo come back here again. Thank you Team O'Neill's 💚🍀

Very nice experience, staff friendly my only concern after drinking with friends for couple of hours my dear friend who is ex serviceman required the conveniences only to discover that the facilities were down stairs which in this circumstances was not acceptable as he used a wheelchair and he had to shuffle downstairs leaving the chair behind him. this this was the only that let the establishment down.

Sat here waiting for my food for over an hour...asked a member of staff about it and just got told don't know....Then got another member of staff telling me it wasn't an hour I had been waiting..so when I tried proving it to her ...she apogised...won't be going back

Perfect Venue for Company Staff Drinks We recently held our company staff drinks at O’Neall’s York, and it was the perfect venue! The space was just right for our group—cozy yet spacious enough to mingle comfortably. The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring everyone had drinks and appetisers throughout the evening. The selection of drinks, from local beers to creative cocktails, had something for everyone. It was a relaxed atmosphere that allowed our team to unwind and enjoy each other’s company outside of the office. Highly recommend O’Neall’s York for any corporate or staff gathering!

Good irish pub with modern vibe. Friendly staff. Stairs down to the loos in the basement a bit steep though !

Visited this pub for years and the food and drink is always good and much better priced than other York establishments. Marked down this time for staff not as friendly as usual and some ridiculous excuse as to why tacos and garlic bread are served cold!! No they are not supposed to be this way.

Great atmosphere service a little slow

We came in a group over the weekend and had a great time in the pub (just drinking, not eating hence no food review). A band was playing on Friday night to get the party going - and they tolerated our dodgy dancing. Full marks for honesty too: one of our gang lost their watch that night but thanks to an anonymous someone it was handed in, kept behind the bar and then collected on Saturday afternoon. The Guinness was also very good.

Food - Peas overcooked. Steak not trimmed up properly. Chewy. Chips wangy. Guinness - Decent Doorman with Auburn hair - Vaping indoors at bar and on door. Huge clouds of vape! Rowdy very loud. A very drunk noisy race crowd came in. Doorman at bar vaping. Disappointing tables were not cleared of glasses and wiped down. It was my 50th with my wife using a gift card gifted from a family member. Consequently we ate what we could and left.

We have been in all week watching Cheltenham and it has been amazing. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is fab, many options to choose from. Best pint of Guinness I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to be back at the weekend to celebrate St Patrick’s day!

Very dark venue, may work well in the evening but in the day is just dark and dingy. Staff were polite but clearly miserable. Not sure I would come back here

We came to a visit, we‘re from Germany. The food was very good and the staff was so Kind. We visited O‘Neills York at least three times. Not to forget the Live Music on that weekend 😉

Great place. Friendly service and well priced food and drink. Few too many rugby fans for my liking but that is outside of the control of the pub.

Best Guinness in York. Sausage and mash was spot on and well priced. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Shows live sport and has live music occasionally.

There was a step up to the seats at the back which should be illuminated so easy to see in the dark and unfortunately I fell down the step and I'd had only one drink .had to wait while barman was on his phone before getting served

This pub is a gem. The staff are friendly, the food is always well prepared and reasonably priced. The happy hour offers are great. I regularly stop in for a medicinal beverage when passing and I’m always impressed with the service. On my most recent visit I was served by Jordan and Lucy, both of whom were a credit to the pub. Well done O’Neills.

Changed a lot...now more sport orientated so hence very noisy. Nice if you like sport, otherwise there are better places to go.

2 TVs with the same channel on to accommodate rowdy people but not much thought for others. This was mid week.

We went to watch/listen to the Mojos band The service was good and prompt. The atmosphere was okay but varied. Security was present which is reassuring.

We have visited O’Neill’s in afew different cities over the years as it is our to go to place as a family. O’Neill’s York is by far the best one yet, the staff were exceptional and service was next to none. If anybody is looking for a family friendly pub in York then this is your go to place.

I don't think you can go wrong with O'Neill's. It's impossible to express how much I love their pizzas, but maybe one day I'll be able to comment on the rest of their menu. Their staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and let's not forget their £3 happy hour deal. Absolutely lush.
