Great hidden Gem small but full of life best pint of Guinness in York!! Fast friendly service from staff, strongly recommend! Always pop in for a bite to eat, food is always great and well priced for centre of York!

We don’t get here half as often as we would like but when we do it’s always a good time and the best Guinness in York!! Service is always great and staff are so welcoming!

Perfect Venue for Company Staff Drinks We recently held our company staff drinks at O’Neall’s York, and it was the perfect venue! The space was just right for our group—cozy yet spacious enough to mingle comfortably. The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring everyone had drinks and appetisers throughout the evening. The selection of drinks, from local beers to creative cocktails, had something for everyone. It was a relaxed atmosphere that allowed our team to unwind and enjoy each other’s company outside of the office. Highly recommend O’Neall’s York for any corporate or staff gathering!

Always have a lovely time here, their happy hour is great! Have been there for a work night out before as well, the buffet foods are really good, not a massive fan of the new menu I think the old one was way better, but what they have now is still nice :)

it's one of my favourite places in york staff are friendly, good food beer banter and sport what more could you ask for, Lauren is especially friendly. I have to edit my review now as Lauren decided to leave to door open on purpose. I'm cold shut the door. Auto closers on the door now happy days

Superb service and very friendly. Would recommend anyone to come here. We had food after seeing the plates coming out. We were definitely not disappointed.

Visited this pub for years and the food and drink is always good and much better priced than other York establishments. Marked down this time for staff not as friendly as usual and some ridiculous excuse as to why tacos and garlic bread are served cold!! No they are not supposed to be this way.

Great atmosphere service a little slow

We came in a group over the weekend and had a great time in the pub (just drinking, not eating hence no food review). A band was playing on Friday night to get the party going - and they tolerated our dodgy dancing. Full marks for honesty too: one of our gang lost their watch that night but thanks to an anonymous someone it was handed in, kept behind the bar and then collected on Saturday afternoon. The Guinness was also very good.

Food - Peas overcooked. Steak not trimmed up properly. Chewy. Chips wangy. Guinness - Decent Doorman with Auburn hair - Vaping indoors at bar and on door. Huge clouds of vape! Rowdy very loud. A very drunk noisy race crowd came in. Doorman at bar vaping. Disappointing tables were not cleared of glasses and wiped down. It was my 50th with my wife using a gift card gifted from a family member. Consequently we ate what we could and left.

We have been in all week watching Cheltenham and it has been amazing. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is fab, many options to choose from. Best pint of Guinness I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to be back at the weekend to celebrate St Patrick’s day!

Very dark venue, may work well in the evening but in the day is just dark and dingy. Staff were polite but clearly miserable. Not sure I would come back here

We came to a visit, we‘re from Germany. The food was very good and the staff was so Kind. We visited O‘Neills York at least three times. Not to forget the Live Music on that weekend 😉

Pop in regularly for drinks and to watch sport staff are always warm and friendly has a local feel about it even tho it's in a busy part of town

Great place. Friendly service and well priced food and drink. Few too many rugby fans for my liking but that is outside of the control of the pub.

Best Guinness in York. Sausage and mash was spot on and well priced. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Shows live sport and has live music occasionally.

There was a step up to the seats at the back which should be illuminated so easy to see in the dark and unfortunately I fell down the step and I'd had only one drink .had to wait while barman was on his phone before getting served

The best staff make for the best pub/bar in York, good drinks and good people!

This pub is a gem. The staff are friendly, the food is always well prepared and reasonably priced. The happy hour offers are great. I regularly stop in for a medicinal beverage when passing and I’m always impressed with the service. On my most recent visit I was served by Jordan and Lucy, both of whom were a credit to the pub. Well done O’Neills.

Changed a lot...now more sport orientated so hence very noisy. Nice if you like sport, otherwise there are better places to go.

2 TVs with the same channel on to accommodate rowdy people but not much thought for others. This was mid week.

We went to watch/listen to the Mojos band The service was good and prompt. The atmosphere was okay but varied. Security was present which is reassuring.

We have visited O’Neill’s in afew different cities over the years as it is our to go to place as a family. O’Neill’s York is by far the best one yet, the staff were exceptional and service was next to none. If anybody is looking for a family friendly pub in York then this is your go to place.

Had a cracking day out in York at the weekend. This place was buzzing. Great beer and excellent service as usual.

I don't think you can go wrong with O'Neill's. It's impossible to express how much I love their pizzas, but maybe one day I'll be able to comment on the rest of their menu. Their staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and let's not forget their £3 happy hour deal. Absolutely lush.

Worst pint of Guinness I have ever had..

Excellent food and atmosphere. The Guinness was pulled to perfection and a Great place for lunch. Food cooked by chef Chris and was gorgeous.

Typical pub lunch, but much of the inside is too dark for us, so we sat by the glass roofed area. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Food awful for one in the party and just ok for the other. Starter of cheesy garlic bread lovely. Wrong main meal delivered to one of us, and to have the correct one made was another 15min wait, while the other in the party already their meal. Consequenctly elected not to wait and to eat what was presented, found the fries were very dry and crispy, and then found a 3inch hair in the burger so stopped eating! Manager apologised and offered a free drink for the wrong meal, which was excepted, but didn't offer to make refund for the hair etc. Sadly we can't recommend this place based on that experience.

Love this bar. Always a warm welcome. And it's nice and tostie when it's cold outside. Never eaten here, but it looks great.

Stayed over Halloween weekend, it's a lot bigger then it looks from the outside. Bar was busy and we ordered the 5 tapas, after waiting a while we asked the lady at the bar (cassie) and she went out of her way to get us a replacement and very kindly brought us a drink whilst we waited for food. When food finally came it was really nice and spicy. Thanks again to cassie.

What an amazing welcoming place may if been only people in here with kids but we was welcomed and looked after. And on return for a second visit we was remembered and and looked after once again one member of the team stood out but the whole team was lovely thank you all

This is a nice bar with good bar food an a good comfy vibe. As a local with Irish roots it’s nice to settle into a cosy corner an have good craic and chill.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with an old school design echoing the atmosphere of York itself! The bar is well-presented, also continuing this with the barrels and staff were friendly. Irish cider has availability on tap which is great and I sat on leather seating, cleanliness maintained too!

Watched football. Very busy but got quickly served and food came quick and was hot

Always visit when in York and been coming here for years. Consistently good food and drink at realistic prices. Friendly staff. Taylor is a credit to the place. Outgoing and efficient. Shame she will be leaving soon for pastures new. Been in 3 times this week. Love it. Will return asap.

OK pub but doesn't do John smith's

We always come here when we visit York and have had a good meal every time and this recent visit didn't disappoint, my girlfriend had the gammon and I had the Notorious P.I.G. burger which was so tasty, one of the best burgers I've ever had.......oh and the chips are lovely too, already looking forward to our next visit.

Nice place, good beer selection but out out of all the pubs I visited that day this one won the award for the most expensive I remember being in. If you want some decent beer in a chilled out setting, goto the kings arms over the road instead. If you like buying overpriced beer then by all means go here.

Went in for a drink Saturday night, went to use the toilet and...... oh...my...God...the most disgusting toilets in any public place I've ever been...employ a cleaner to keep it usable...

The walls are black which means it's quite dark. You can get a free pint of brewdog by downloading the app

Absolutely love eating in O'Neils York , I often visit with my children (fussy eaters) I'm always left at ease with the lengths the chef goes to accommodate our food orders, We are never disappointed! The foods always delicious, staff are friendly and welcoming . Would highly recommend.

Great little pub. The staff were so friendly and recommended some great menu options. They offer tapas style plates as well as bigger main courses. We had a couple of drinks and a casual lunch. The cricket was on the tv for sports fans but it wasn’t intrusive. I think they have live music on Fridays too. Can’t speak highly enough of our experience and want to add a shout out to Connor the manager who couldn’t do enough for us.

Looks nothing like the Groupon ad. Went to York for a few days break for the first time so had no idea of local restaurants but this must be one of the worst.a real old fashion in need of money being spent on it. There's no nearby parking as far as we know. The food was not great the small plates (sort of tapas) we're not to our tastes and the burgers .. well I love burgers and have never left one but I could not eat all of this one, it just did not taste great and was meant to have toasted buns but they were not and the lemonade on pump was flat... Not sort of pub one would normally go in and should have written off the Groupon when seeing the depending frontage. Would not recommend. Maybe other venues around the country are better

Lovely service from the 2 gents working, we came for a bottomless brunch with the girls and the lads couldn’t do enough for us, could have done with some music outside though. Thanks for a lovely afternoon love the Toby Carvery Rotherham girls

Great, friendly spot for a beer. No socially directed signs or flags which was a nice change from every other pub in York. Great lads serving behind the bar. We came back here multiple times.

Was a shame half the menu was sold out at 5pm on a sunday, we still managed to eat thou and what we did have was yummy! Drinks well priced, great atmosphere and staff. Toilets i wasn't a fan. Bit of a dingy walk down and tight and two of the loos had no roll which wasn't ideal but it was busy as pride Weekend and the celtic game.
