Onda in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We pre booked this restaurant in advance for the half term holiday 2024. I got an email confirmation of the booking and a further email reminder which I confirmed as requested. On the evening we travel 5 miles to the restaurant to find it closed with no explanation on the door, website or social media. Communication with this restaurant is very poor

Had a delicious meal here. Particularly loved the blue cheese olives - had 2 portions! Can i have the recipe?? My husband had squid starter and then seafood pasta. I had arancini and then mussels with nduja. Lovely friendly service and would recommend.

We made a last minute booking for Saturday night. It as very busy but everyone was attentive and pleasant. The food was superb, a good choice with something for everyone. We couldn't manage a dessert but they all looked good on neighbouring tables. A very pleasant evening and would definately recommend.

No one else in restaurant and service was so slow person front of house liked their mobile phone instead of customers. Food was barely warm again very slow. Very mediocre

Sadly our visit last evening in no way reflected the majority of reviews previously posted on the site. We booked for 6 were on time first diners but had a very lukewarm reception which really didn't improve when drinks order was taken and delivered or when our food orders were taken, 2 Lasagne & 1 Risotto, chosen from scuffy stained paper menus. Then we waited, and waited and waited until 35 minutes after our orders were taken the food was delivered, without any apology for the delay. Considering I had read that Gordon Ramsey was impressed sadly we were not, the Risotto was almost cold and Lasagnes not particularly tasty, served with a so called salad of rocket and dried tomatoes with the obligatory oil all over. We each had a dessert in the hope those might be better, only very slightly and sadly we left, underwelmed after cheekily being reminded it was up to us if we wanted to add a tip...we didn't. It was only when we were leaving that the server actually slightly improved as we left perhaps she was expecting another glowing review? Sorry have to review honestly and as found

We were surprised this restaurant has only 4 stars. Went for the first time yesterday and had excellent service from a young man; the food was super tasty and, I think, reasonably priced. We would recommend and certainly be visiting again.

The food was very very good. Very impressed for a first visit. Service excellent and lovely decor and ambience. Prices very reasonable also. A real asset for Wadebridge. Will definitely recommend to anyone.

This is our third visit to ONDA in their first year and each time the experience gets better and better. The food, the service and the atmosphere has improved. The food is gorgeous but what really sets ONDA apart from the crowd is the warm yet utterly professional front of house team. Shout out to Talia for leading the team - she's on it and really knows how to run the show. For charm and charisma, Tom gets our vote. Loved him! Looking forward to coming back..

We absolutely loved our Saturday lunch here! The staff were just as incredible as the food and we felt the menu would suit all sorts of taste pallets and customers. The interiors are also beautiful whilst maintaining that welcoming and cosy atmosphere. As a veggie I felt there were plenty of options to choose from. Highly recommend!

Came here for dinner, my taste buds danced in there mouth, the atmosphere relaxed and warm, I'll be a regular from this day forward 😁

We were made to feel really welcome by the staff at Onda. Restaurant was busy with two party’s but staff took the time to welcome us. They were willing to make changes to the menu to accommodate a veggie and the girl behind the bar took time to go through the menu showing these options. Food arrived much sooner then advised and was absolutely delicious. Mussel spaghetti was fantastic. Also the crab bruschetta was delightful. Would highly recommend Onda.

Nice food. Lots of lovely Italian style food. Loads of choices and a lovely vibes.

The food was great. The starters were better than the main course; the blue olives were superb. The mains were ok, but most dishes had a lemon sauce which didn’t work, which we feed back to the chef. The main room is the best for atmosphere but the back room has a cosy fireplace. Service was a bit slow but super friendly.

Had a birthday meal here last night 11/11/23 and it was fab from start to finish. The food was amazing and the service couldn't have been better even down to having a balloon on our table and a candle in my dessert 🎂. Couldn't fault it and will definitely return

The food was terrific 😋 Unfortunately we were the only guests at lunchtime last Friday, so it is tricky to get a great atmosphere! The service was inattentive given we were the only guests.

My partner and I ate at ONDA last night. We came away feeling a little let down by the quality of the food when considering the price. While annoying, it can happen sometimes. However, what I don’t consider to be at all acceptable from an establishment that presents itself as being high end, is food poisoning. Unfortunately, my partner has spent the whole of today experiencing stomach cramps etc effectively wiping out a day of our holiday. And likely another tomorrow. He had the crab on toast to start and a sausage main from the specials menu. I’m thanking myself lucky I only tried a bite of his meals and faced only a mild upset this morning. We are big foodies and don’t mind paying a premium for high quality food. We always thoroughly research the places we dine at as we’re unashamed to say we’re discerning in our choices! Unfortunately ONDA has really let us down.

I do not usually leave reviews, but felt this was necessary after visiting ONDA with high expectations based on positive reviews on here. We were seated at a table for two that was VERY close to another table, to the point we could hear their every word, and they could likely hear ours. The lack of any privacy was a shame. The service was friendly but slow, but the surprising main issue was the quality of food. The pepper starter’s components seemed to be all taken from a jar, and were not fresh. The already small main portion of the wild garlic malloreddus contained about 50% inedible lemon wedges, and was grossly overpriced. The crab starter, and sausage special main were both better, but lacked the care/finesse I would expect based on the price. Overall we were disappointed with the quality of food and overall experience. I’m not sure if we caught the kitchen on a bad night due to the other very positive reviews, but based on our experience we would likely not eat here again.

We came here for my mum's birthday and James treated her like a queen and the rest of us, so well. Extremely knowledgeable and was able to adapt a couple of dishes to personal likes/dislikes. There were 2 new waitresses who were obviously nervous, but, were so lovely and didn't put a foot wrong. Hats off to them and everyone else in the team. The food was fantastic, service equally as great and the cost is more than reasonable for the quality of food and service you recieve. Next time I'm down, I'll be back for the mussels.

The staff are very friendly and good with children and adults! Delicious food, well presented. Good selection of wines and the atmosphere and furnishings are lovely. Amazing place.

A welcome new restaurant in Wadebridge. We have been half a dozen times for either lunch or dinner. The food is good and service is prompt. Can't wait for the menu to change.

Unbelievable Mussles, the sauce works so well and it was the perfect amount of spice, my starter was incredible as-well, however I don’t think the blue cheese compliments the meat and bread, it did taste slightly odd (fishy). The service was top class, with the exception of a few hiccups from my mother’s dietary needs. Overall I was stunned by my main.

Just had a lovely lunch at Onda. All the food was well presented and delicious. Very reasonably priced as well. Great addition to Wadebridge.

Our first visit to ONDA & looking forward to returning very soon. On arrival staff, Millie, was very warming took an interest in our holiday. On taking our food order helped with recommendations & also redesigning a sauce for me. Whole experience was one never to forget, THANK YOU 10/10 🤩

Excellent food and great service. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. The mussels were delicious and the portion size was very generous. The staff were friendly, efficient and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely return when we have the chance.

Don’t like to leave reviews like this but having stayed at a hotel to specifically come here it was below par, shame staff were very welcoming and friendly. The pork scratching starter was extremely hard, you couldn’t break it let alone eat it. The steak at £32 was not cooked well and had a lot of gristle, other starters were good but having spent all but £95 it was a bit of a disappointing experience. UPDATED Was told after a comment on Insta they would call back, someone did out of the blue at work, was told someone would call the next day…. never happened!

Booked to go here after a certain celebrity chef neighbour highly recommended it. Food is superb...easily the best in Wadebridge and surrounding areas and it was a nice ambiance too. The mussels are always my 'test dish' and so many of even the local Michelin places fall down on these (it's true...both Steins and Ainsworth were very poor in comparison to here) but ONDAs were delightfully flavoured and seasoned. My only gripe is that front of house on a Saturday night was a bit of a shambles. After being shown to our table by a young lady who said she' be back to take drinks orders, we were left sitting for ages, only for 2 more tables to come in to the side of us and be served not just their drinks, but their food order taken too. We never were seen by the lady who escorted us to our table (she just wandered off to talk to customers at another table for ages). These neighbouring tables were also served (maybe asked first, but I don't think so) water even before their starters and drinks arrived - again, we weren't served any at all until we actually asked before the main course. And even after ordering bottled water to go with the meal, we didn't receive it until we'd nearly finished our meals and had to ask again as we'd clearly been forgotten. There was a real lack of consistency and attention to detail which left me on verge of leaving a 3 star experience as it really took the shine off what could have been a great experience and one that I'd been looking forward to, but food was really very good and reasonably priced for what it was so they just scraped a 4 from me. It could be a 5 next time if they improve their front of house.

A very fine place, with flexible and warm service. The options for vegetarians are also spectacular.

Just enjoyed a wonderful evening here with friends. The food was absolutely delicious, the stuffed and fried olives were perfection, as was the burrata salad 👌 Highly recommend for an evening in Wadebridge with a sophisticated yet laid back vibe.

Food at ONDA was excellent. Great attention to detail and thought had gone into each dish. Service was very friendly and warm, but lack of knowledge of dishes let the meal down. Vegetarian dishes not stated on menu nor fully known by staff, no one knew the name of the special, but the vague description sold it well and it was super tasty. Dessert was very tasty, but not as exciting as the rest of the menu. Felt like it needed more attention/extra components to warrant the price. Sorbet was icy unfortunately, but the flavour was great. Would go back, but would expect service to improve as they gain more experience at this new location, to match the quality of the food! Thank you for a lovely evening ONDA :)

Atmosphere and service was great. The Pork Chop was extremely delicious, the flavours all worked so well and it by far surpassed expectations. The carbonara however was nothing extraordinary and at £20 a portion, there was an expectation this dish would go above and beyond an average carbonara. My feedback would be to either adjust the pricing of this dish lower, or really kick it up the flavours a notch, which based on how delicious the pork chop was, I have no doubts chefs have the ability to do so.

Lovely addition to the Wadebridge food scene. Interior decor was great but unfortunately the food was average and the service was messy. Teething problems hopefully.

First visit to Onda definitely not the last! Great food, lovely staff, relaxing ambience. Had a selection of small vegetarian dishes, all super-delicious. Well-chosen selection of drinks too.

Excited about this opening as im local , went opening night which led to a an issue with mains arriving with no sides arriving for some time , which was resolved by the whole meal being cooked beautifully again . I’m sure this was an opening night hiccup and was dealt with professionally by staff and chefs . Really liked the staff , friendly , chatty and made you feel welcome . Loved the updated interior however my only complaint would be it was soooo cold . Another lady sat and ate her coat on another table . My husband was cold also and it did make us want to nip home for more layers . Wine list lovely , Barolo my favourite and we enjoyed that . Music very well chosen , up beat , modern . Would have stayed for more drinks if it had been warmer . Definitely will try again . Love eating out , especially being spoilt here in Cornwall for our top chefs and top restaurants, we will be back soon .

I only patronise places where I can book a table by talking to a real person by phone. So, it appears unworkable for me to go to Onda, as is the case with the Tiny Thai nearby.

Honestly the only reason I put two start is the service which was lovely. The food was so disappointing that I wonder why it was praised so much by acclaimed chefs. The carbonara was covered in cream with no egg yolk in sight ( 20 pounds btw) stodgy and horrible. The fish? Dry, soggy skin and the peppers where almost like pickles. The tiramisu again the worst I have ever tried , the cream was just mascarpone and sugar. It was almost cooked by toddlers and not chefs.

Love this restaurant never leave disappointed and they are always happy to feed 2 big eaters friendly staff

We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at The Bridge Bistro. The staff were very welcoming and the ambiance was just perfect. Our three course meal was delicious. We particularly liked the Parma ham and goats cheese with walnut salad for starters. We then had the bridge burgers which were very filling and tasty too, the beetroot slaw on the side complimented the dish. We of course have that extra stomach for deserts and had my favourite sticky toffee pudding which is out of this world with clotted cream, I had a scoop of ice cream too. My husband had Thunder and lightning, which was ice cream and honeycombe which he enjoyed. Finished off with two wonderful cocktails. Thank you Sam for going the extra mile and giving me a fan to use for a woman of that age. A thank you to Kate and Evie who made our occasion even more enjoyable.

Unpretentious. Simple. Great food.

We had a really excellent lunch with great service, I would highly recommend this little place. My partner and I had the kofta burger which was perfectly cooked and juicy. The kids had the pasta and chicken from the children’s menu, great portions and really tasty. You could really tell it was all homemade. We would definitely return 👍

Nipped in for a light bite, soup and a coffee. Have eaten here before, including celebration family gathering, over the years. Always excellent, great flavours, lovely staff & swift service. Great place!

Lovely cafe. Good service. More importantly, the food was unreal. I had the most incredible soup I have ever had and I am well aware that soups are not usually the most exciting dish in the world. The sea bass grapefruit combination was also marvelous! If you don't want to be disappointed, you should definitely try and book in advance!

What a gem of a place. Just lovely.

I popped in for lunch with my partner and two young children. They made us feel very welcome and the food was fabulous. My youngest said his fish fingers were the best ones he's every had!

Really good food, for me decor needs a little attention but otherwise good place to eat, try the Katsu curry.

Friendly, polite and courteous staff where nothing is too much trouble. Amazing, freshly prepared, delicious food. Stringent Covid safety measures in place. Love it for lunch and dinner.

Went here for a meal with family on a Friday night. Nice atmosphere, exceptionally good food with just the right sized portions. Recommend trying one of their cocktails as well! We went on the last Friday of the month which meant there was live music from around 8.30 I think, which really added to the evening, I'd hapily go & see the guitarist/singer again. Credit to the staff as well, they were attentive and had a smile on their face. We'll be back soon!

Great burgers and steak for lunch.

Confusion in the booking lead to the head waitress turning down our business of 10 hungry gents and probable earnings of around £300 in a sitting. Very strange and gave us a sense that the leadership were a little backward and non commercially aware. Will never go there again on our annual visit to Polzeath.

Food here is good, imaginative, service is friendly. As always in Cornwall a big but. Do not under any circumstances order wine here.
