Beautiful food, simple menu The concept of cooking your own steak is good but would be better to have to cooked for you..... But it was a great experience and the brownie and ice cream at the end topped it off nicely ❤️

Went for a late dinner with my partner and we had the restaurant to ourselves which was a little sad as it definitely deserves to be busy. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had the surf and turf for 2, and it was fantastic, so much food and bottomless chips and salad - the chips were amazing - and the food was fantastic, the steak was so tender and just melted in the mouth if you cook it right on the stone! We'd absolutely come back the next time we're on the Island.

Absolutely Terrible place is full of fatty smoke fire alarm sounded for a good 20mins because of this.an expensive steak is let down by cheap fries on the side

One in a lifetime experience YOU MUST HAVE and we absolutely loved it! All the staff were fantastic and I'd go bk there every weekend if I lived locally... the menu was spot on... dessert & wine choices were amazing they even let us stay indoors awhile waiting for the cab awhile they were tiding up... thank u for making our anniversary extra special 💓 💗 💖

A unique way to have a steak! Cooking it yourself on the hot rock adds an experience to coming here that made it very memorable. The meat was beautifully tender, and the overall quality of the meal was excellent. A nice atmosphere and friendly staff really made this place perfect. It's a little pricey but not unreasonably so, it is a steakhouse after all and you pay for quality. Next time I'm back on the island I'll be paying another visit!

A first class service in a lovely little town. The food served was first class, fresh, reasonably priced and with the ability to cook your food to your liking, winner! Only observation would be more vegetarian options as the menu only gave one option for those who don't eat meat or fish. That said, this is still a 5 star rated establishment for which we have and will continue to recommend.

Wow..What a very different way of cooking what you ordered. Brilliant. On The Rocks menu is mainly meat/chicken and I think there is something for the vegetarian. I was served by a lovely young waitress, She was so kind..And told me what to expect. I ordered on the Lunchtime menu the 6oz Sirloin of Steak.And after not much time my steak came on top of a volcanic slate on a plate, Sizzling like a good un, See Picture..You cook it as you want it, I got tons of fries and a lovely large salad on the side, They come with the steak. I found if you cut the steak up into small pieces it's easy to cook. After that I ordered a cookie biscuit and on top was a plob of vanilla ice cream, With chocolate sauce drizzled over the ice cream & a slice of strawberry and two raspberries .See Picture .Delicious. A great place to eat and great atmosphere as well..

What a fun way for dinner, cooking with a lava stone! It was quite an experience, especially with the fresh and tasty seafood combo! Even though we sat all the way at the back and there wasn't any other customers in our section, the staff were very attentive and friendly. They made sure that the bottomless chips and salad keep coming! Loved every minute of our dinner there. Too bad that we were too hungry to take a photo of our food which we enjoyed A LOT!

We left it a bit too late to eat and found this place the only one in town that was still serving food. We both had the steaks on the hot stones which were delicious along with salad and fries. When in Yarmouth again we will certainly go back. Ps: the girls serving us couldn't be more helpful. Well done.

Lovely food - all cooked on hot rock plates. Rather expensive for what it is, but it's fresh, tasty, cooked how you like it (you're effectively cooking it!). Fries were plentyful and nice n fluffy inside, crunchy outside. Was quite busy by time we left (approx 630pm). Salad was med style comprising leaves, baby plum toms, feta cheese cubes and light dressing. Both fries and salad are limitless. Service was ok - polite, informative and happy. We were in a slight rush sadly. The quality of food was worth the wait. 6oz sirloin steak was a stunning cut, generous in portion and of excellent quality! Very tasty. Nice clean restaurant, wide open seating, good table sizes and open plan kitchen presentation (looked immaculate!). Menu is simple but slightly limited (prob suits hot rock plates this way maybe?) - but i would have expected more fish and seafood options - seeing as the restaurants location is 2 mins from harbour!? Strange that they charge non-eaters in your group/at your table a charge of £5 too! Sadly another gripe is there was a dog (non guide or care dog from what I could see) in the restaurant so we naturally assumed they were allowed, but our friends with a 16wk puppy were not allowed in and turned away. We were told only known dogs were allowed! Okaaayy. Hmm. Really odd. Anyway, the restaurant served a purpose - to serve food to those (us) who were hungry prior to ferry crossing back to Lymington. Harbour, yatchs and crossing experience was superb! Perfectly on time and great chance of a lovely sunset photo op.

Hot stone restaurant with a range of steaks and seafood plus bottomless fries and salad. Quite expensive (£30-33 for the steak), but the fillet steak comes as a sizeable chunk of good quality meat. Service was friendly but a little slow.

I used to come here many years ago and was looking forward to coming back. It was as good as I remembered. Highly recommended the surf and turf - very generous portions (and much better value than at The Hut!)

Simple and excellent concept. Large steaks and/or seafood that you cook yourself on a hot rock. Quality and quantity of food is high. We order surf and turf for 2, when it arrived we thought that was a nice amount for us not realising that was just for 1 and another load of meat was coming! Accompaniments are bottomless fries and salad. A few beer and wine options to round it off. Desserts looked good and our pavlova was great. Definitely returning!

Fantastic staff. The young lady who served as was brilliant. We ordered the 27 ounce chateau steak which you cook on a lava stone at your table. Enough for three and endless fries and salad. Honestly it was like prime fillet steak. 10/10 for service and food. Thank you all so much. No tip added to the bill which was nice, but we left one voluntary the way it should be done.

I really enjoyed my experience for dinner at On the Rocks. The quality of the steak was incredible. Really good size and I loved the fries. Decent salad also. I found the décor very simple and 2 out of the 4 of us had squeaky, loose chairs, which was a little irritating. Top marks for food and service - would love to see a little more effort on the inside.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to meats and I'm presently surprised to be really impressed with the restaurant. The cuts where great. Service was prompt and friendly. Deserts were equally great. Caution as it can be busy. Book if you want to guarantee a table. Will go again if we are back in the area

What a great experience. The quality of the fish and meat were excellent and the staff helped us through the steps. The bottomless fries and Greek salad was a great addition. Hot rock cooking needs to be done once in your life at least. The apple sours with the bill went down well with the non drivers 😘

Overpriced. Poor value for money. The service was really poor. They mixed up our order, didn't pay attention to what we said. They need to invest on better extractors for the smoke. You live the place smelling like BBQ. Don't order cocktails. Stick to other drinks. Worst chemical margarita ever.

I wasn’t sure about this place. Best rated on google in Yarmouth but usually I don’t really like this concept. Well let me tell you, the food was outstanding. As good a steak as you’ll get at even the best places in London. We went with the fillet steaks. The kids menu is a touch limited but the chicken bites went down well with my kids. Desserts were are also fabulous especially the Cookie round. To top of all off the staff were super friendly and attentive. On the pricey end yes, but I don’t mind when it lives up to it. Great job guys and we will be back.

Reservation handled promptly & service excellent. Fillet steaks lovely cuts. Tasty & tender throughout the fun self cooking process. Bottomless fries & salad portions perfect. Local Draught lager would be great tho. My birthday treat & We will be back.

It is a very unique restaurant. The service staff will give you a very hot square stone. You need to put the food on the stone to bake it yourself. The process is very joyful. There is an unlimited supply of French fries. Whether it is seafood or lamb chops and steaks, they are all very fresh. , the meat quality is great, I will definitely come again next time.

When you’re coming to On The Rocks, you’re coming for the experience. If you’ve never cooked your food on the rocks, then you’ll certainly enjoy doing it. The food was pretty good, and the chips are extremely tasty. All the food comes with bottomless chips and salad, which is nice. The meat was the best I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good. It’s kind of on the pricey side though - but that’s to be expected as it’s a restaurant in Yarmouth. Overall, I would recommend.

Menu consists of various meat, seafood such as scallops, squid etc. It will be served on a hot brick that you will cook the food on yourself. Endless chips & salad ! Great experience but not inexpensive.

Went for the first time with my partner for his birthday. The staff are extremely friendly, very attentive and very informative on how your meal is prepared on the volcanic rocks. I’m normally someone who instantly adds salt and pepper but on this occasion, there was absolutely no need. Everything was very tasty and fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed the Surf n Turf (not to mention my pavlova)!! Thanks guys! x

The most perfect hidden gem!! Experience of cooking 🔪 yourself to your preference 😁 Amazing staff, great attention to detail, tasty sourced food 😋 and Gluten-free and lactose free available food. Chef was spot on double checking before starting to prepare food on allergens when something was ordered, not realising lactose was included 👌🏽

A pleasant experience to return after such a long time. Cook your own meat on a hot lava stone, accompanied with bottomless fries and greek salad. A lovely cut of sirloin steak that I enjoyed cooking to my own liking. Hard to believe there are other reviews complaining about or not understanding the concept of cooking your own food and the price you pay for doing so!! This is made very clear to a normal person by the name of the restaurant and is explained at the beginning of your visit, thus giving you ample opportunity to understand this restaurant is a hot rock experience and what that actually means. A great idea/dining experience. Polite and friendly staff, that were attentive and not pushy - perfect!

Whilst holidaying on the Isle of Wight I came back here, this time with my better half. I love the concept of cooking your own main course on a hot stone. The bottomless chips and salad are a big bonus! We had the tuna steak and scallops and shared between the two of us. The tuna steak come on the stone and for me what works is to take it of immediately and then slice it into smaller portions and cook those to your liking. Otherwise the whole steak is cooked in minutes and the whole experience is over quickly. The staff is very friendly, attentive and explain everything very well. We even had an apple sour shot on the house after dinner. All in all great experience and my go to place when in Yarmouth.

The food and the service are excellent here. Served on a slab of rock at 400 degrees, you cook your food how you like. I recommend the fillet steak.

We went on a Monday evening having booked. Lucky we did as it appears to be very popular and was nice and busy. We were served by Sarah who was great and a credit to the business. We opted for the surf and turf meal for 2. The steak was amazing and a very generous serving. The salad and chips were great. Its a great restaurant and we all visit when sailing around the Isle of White.

It was such a tender Chateaubriand with scallops and King prawns. All supplied with bottomless fries and Greek salad. A lovely relaxed evening.

They squeezed our family in despite no booking on a busy bank holiday evening. Amazing service, polite knowledgeable staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but what an experience where you cook your own food to your liking on your own personal hot volcanic rock!

The quality of the meat wasn't as expected for the price (the bottomless fries and salad don't compensate for it) and the fact that there's no need for cooks as you basically cook your own meal. The place gets really smokey and, definitely, is not children friendly. I won't recommend it unless you like to pay to bbq your own food.

Cuisine avec Pierre just as it's found in Switzerland or France. Fun, if a little smokey at times. Nice choice of local drinks too.

Prices were very high for something you have to cook yourself with heat in your face and no real sauce or anything done up for you. Salad was good. Beer is only in bottles but they have a couple local selections. We hit 130 gbp for 4 people

We ate here last night as a 6, service was friendly and attentive but not in your face. Food was amazing, good quality and great value. Would definitely recommend a visit and we will be back on our next trip.

Sarah was amazing explaining everything, the food was exceptional and I highly recommend a bottle of the Hopes End blend to match what a great experience cooking your own choice of food on hot volcanic rocks. You must visit & experience this fantastic way of eating the whole staff are excellent & Jamie is great with the cheeky Apple Sours shots I had 2 can't wait to come back.

Lamb on the rocks! First experience of this restaurant and an excellent one. The food cooked exactly to your taste in a unique way. Loved the atmosphere and service was fantastic. One surprise was the aperitif after. All in all a great evening!

Amazing experience. Fresh Isle of Wight steak, quality produce. Endless fries and beaufiuk fresh salad- both delicious, leaving you very satisfied and full. Nothing too much for the welcoming staff. Fresh cucumber water and bread with oil/balsamic &/or butter too on arrival.
