We went early in the evening , and we all enjoyed our steaks on the stone . I had the fillet, and the others had sirloin and ribeye. All were very good .I had a coffee that was really good and tasty . Top coffee lol. Total bill around £230 but well worth the money .

This was my first time ever cooking my own food in a restaurant in this manner and it was an amazing (tasty) experience and with the option of bottomless fries and salads that you can fry off on your slate in garlic butter. Also a great way to never have to send your steak back to the kitchen because it is to rare because you can cook it to YOUR standards. The servers are so lovely and care about your needs and the atmosphere even in the autumn when not very busy is great.

We had fab rood here with friendly good service. So glad to see this place back in it's stride and on top form again after some ups and downs and disappointments. If you, like me, had taken this off your list of favorites a couple of years ago then give it another try. The Chateaubriand for 2 was absolutely fantastic. Perfect crispy fries. Nice fresh salad. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will definitely be back again.

We have just eaten another wonderful meal at On the Rocks, this time for our daughters birthday. We had the chateaubriand steak for two and the seafood combo with a huge bowl of fries and a couple of salad bowls, and it was all perfect. We were so full afterwards we couldn't manage a dessert, but Sarah, who had looked after us exceptionally all evening, surprised us when she served the complimentary shots at the end, with a chocolate brownie with Happy Birthday written in sauce on the plate and made our daughter feel very special. Compliments to James the chef also, the steak and seafood was fresh, succulent and tasty. We will definitely recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again soon.

Absolutely abysmal, we will not be going back !! I have been to on the rocks a few times now and it’s been good however we had one of the worst restaurant experiences!! Firstly we weren’t served any bread by our first waitress Chloe, so we asked the second waitress that was looking after our table who apologised and was shocked we weren’t served any. We eventually got our stale bread with our mains, we got 3 chateaubriand steaks. Secondly On the Rocks provides “unlimited salad and chips” with your mains, we got served 2 salads and a big portion of chips for 6 people, upon asking for a second portion of chips one of the waitresses (Chloe) pretended to shoot herself in the head behind the bar, which we saw (there were only 3 tables seated at the restaurant - so it was hardly busy). I appreciate the fact that people/staff have off-days however to do this in front of well paying customer in an open kitchen/bar area was absolutely disgraceful, after making this apparent to our other waitress she apologised and said she would inform the manager however we were not given anything as an apology and still paid full amount. Shame, great location but staff need etiquette training.

This is by far my favourite restaurant at the moment . I go out of my way to take all of my clients there because I KNOW that they will not be disappointed. The concept is clever and simple. A lava stone is heated for 13 hours in a vast oven to 460 degrees C and brought to the table with your choice of Duffy it’s of steak from fillet to sirloin and rump. They’re are fish cuts too including Tuna and Swordfish and also Prawns and Haloumi cheese for the vegetarians. Unlimited fries and salad keep coming as do garlic butter or a number of dips. Service is superb and friendly Can’t rate this place high enough

Steaks we're good (although expensive) service wasn't great at all. Went for an early dinner 5.45ish. Plenty of staff milling around, but service was rubbish. Steaks are meant to come with bottomless fries and salad, but staff never checked to see if we needed more, I had to ask twice for more salad as they gave us a tiny plate of salad for 5 people. (Got shocked and gormless looks from most staff when asking...until one said they would bring one straight out). Were also told about the fetta on the salad and asked specifically for it, but it never came. We think the young lad who showed us to our table clocked out and didn't pass on any info to the new staff...either way, the new staff could have checked. Felt like one staff member was doing most of the work ( a middle age lady, she looked a bit hot and bothered) everyone else was chatting in the kitchen area.

Outstanding. You go to a restaurant to eat, right? Well, here the food is just excellent. I had fillet. I also had limitless chips and salad. Carving off a slice of beef, sizzling it until rare, then gathering a forkful of chips and salad I munched! Delicious!! And so I kept on going, interspersed with hilarious chats with my pal. Staff are lovely especially a girl studying at Durham. So bright. Fabulosa evening.

Profiteering by people who don't like food or customers. Sure some reasonable uncooked meat sold at £32 you cook yourself. But cheap white oil with cheap vinegar, cheap sour ketchup, crap chips, every possible extra item a supplement, staff drilled in getting profit maximisation. Yawn

Amazing steaks! If you've never eaten here before and you like steak, don't miss out. Your choice of meat (beef, lamb, Tuna, chicken or veg options) is brought to you on a hot rock. You then watch it sizzle in front of you until it's cooked your way, slice it up on the rock and munch away with bottomless chips and salad. It's a one off. Not the cheapest, but the best food experience in Yarmouth.

We visited the place, very delicious, pleasant, we like that if you want more potatoes or salad they include it with the cut you choose. I didn't like that the place is small and the tables are very close together and the people next to me had a huge dog that wouldn't even let me eat. I am not against pet-friendly places, however this is not a place to bring animals due to the size of the place, much less so large. First thing to say is that the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service simply wasn't. After waiting while the manager stowed a supply delivery under the customer seating, we were seated without explanation of the restaurant concept, nor were we offered the much cheaper lunch menu (we asked for it). The staff seemed unable to see us throughout and we weren't even offered dessert, nor was the table properly cleared. The staff all expressed surprise that we weren't impressed, which is possibly more worrying.

On the Rocks a few years ago was fantastic. Now… fast forward to 2024 and in comes the more fussy interior design and out goes any sense of customer service. Our waitress was basically useless, not knowing her cuts of steak. Bottomless fries weren’t offered or received when requested, same with the salad. No sauces offered any more, or flavoured butters. And the pavlova/Eaton Mess was just awful (I’m sure at £8 they could do better than squirty cream)?! Most of the waiting staff seemed to congregate around the bar area, where, who our waitress referred to as (I can’t say the word here but “head ***”) would sashay around like a peacock not doing much let alone managing their team. Avoid this place at all cost. Biggest letdown in years.

Staff there are all very try friendly and helpful. The food was amazing 🤩. We were so stuffed from the steak 🥩 that we shared dessert 🍨. Sirloin steak was huge and too much for me and only managed to eat half. Thankfully my partner could help me eat the rest. Next time I’ll share one steak with my daughter as she too couldn’t finish her child sized sirloin too. The tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding was lovely 😻 If you are planning to dine there I highly advise you to book a table as people got turned away when the place was fully booked. Not as good as before. Unfortunately the surf and turf option is no longer available as it's not scallop season and they said these were very expensive to get hold of. The service did feel a bit rushed this time. The salad was a step up from before with more of a Mediterranean feel with Feta, Olives etc. We ordered two steaks and one seafood platter between three. The seafood was excellent as was one steak but the second steak was far too fatty.

A small but we'll formed menu of food to cook on lava rocks on your table. Possibly most noticed for its steak selection, all of which are top quality. I particularly enjoyed the rack of lamb, while my wife enjoyed a massive tuna steak. There is street parking that is free after 18.00. The restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible. I would not recommend this place for children, not least because of the hot rocks on the tables. I recommend booking during the summer months as the restaurant is very popular, not least with those using the marina.

This is a Hot Rock Restaurant. Firstly:- To those complaining about cooking your own food, the clue is in the name "On The Rocks". They could possibly make it clearer outside perhaps, but if you're unsure, use that tongue in your head and ask. Secondly:- You are cooking food in an open space on incredibly hot rocks, there will be smoke, stop complaining about it. This was a fantastic experience for us having been to similar places before (Cheers in Bury St Edmunds, Black Rock Grill in Hopton on Sea albeit these were unlimited meat) Yes, there could have been a bit more instruction from the waitress (season rock with salt before cooking, don't put pepper or sauces on rock as it'll smoke etc) and it would have been good to have a small pair of tongs to help cook with. However, having done something similar before we knew otherwise. The steak was delicious - recommend the chateaubriand as it's 27oz compared with 10/11oz for other individual steaks and better value. Fries were hot and crispy and the garlic butter went really nice with the steak and the bread and balsamic/oil was a nice touch also. All in all it was a great meal and would go happily return.

OMG!! Bottomless brunch! Went as a family, my daughter, who is pretty fussy said the sausage and egg stack was the best breakfast she’s ever eaten! I had it too and it was superb. Perfectly poached eggs and tasty local sausages. The desserts, especially the brownie were also to die for. We never had to get anyone’s attention to get our drinks topped up, the waitress Emma was always right there as soon as our glasses were anywhere near empty! The entertainment was also spot on and created such a good atmosphere. I cannot wait to go back x

1)The good point- steak is really good 2)Now the bad points We arrived and a young waitress took us to our table and left us without saying a word to us . So I had to get up and ask if we could get a menu . We were then told the menus are on the walls . So you have to spend the majority of your time twisting your neck to try to read the wall menus . None of the drinks are from the draft it's all bottles . We had a very young waitress and because of her this is why we are giving this place a 2 stars . (The steak saved you 1 star extra) She eventually came to the table asking what we would like to drink but when. My husband asked her about a drink on the menu she couldn't be bothered making the effort to talk to us properly . She was acting as if she couldn't be a××× to be there . When eventually replying to us , it was either by saying yeaĥhh or I dont know. There wasn't a smile on her face . We then asked her if they serve sauces to go with the steak( a steak always should have a nice sauce ) . Her reply was ketchup ,mayo or others . Again couldn't be bothered. Her attitude is terrible. This meal was meant to be for my husbands birthday we decided not to stay for desserts nor for a coffee we didnt tip either (and we do normally tip big when we are enjoying a nice place ) his waitress made us feel like we were not welcome and that we were bothering her more than anything else . A good steak destroyed by a horrible atmosphere. Would I recommend this place ?? If they had nice staff that are more welcoming then yes but if you don't like hurting your neck trying to read a menu and have a young waitress making you feel like you are bothering her and you feel not welcome then this place is not for you too. No we will not recommend this place to anyone . Avoid for your own neck safety and for not feeling appreciated One older waitress was however always smiling. We wish we had her serving us instead of someone that cannot be bothered to work . Very disappointed. My husbands birthday was ruined thanks to that young woman

Food great but service could improve. Could not fault the food, but experience was let down by lack of service when required. This maybe due to how busy it was, but it resulted in us not purchasing extra drinks or even a dessert. The restaurant gets very busy and unless you are in the main area, servers seem to only occasionally venture down to the further part of the restaurant. Extra chips and salad were ordered eventually, but only the salad arrived .Staff were very friendly and helpful in initial ordering but we struggled to get further attention when needed Appreciate there seems to be a shortage of waiting staff around generally, but one purely seeking extra drinks orders would quickly boost the restaurants profits. Another large table next to us had the same issue . As said, the food was very good and we had the sharing surf and turf. Excellent steak and tasty salad. We may venture back, but probably in a less busy mid week slot.

I do think the Steaks at approx £30 each are expensive. The experience of cooking your own is great, but where this place lets itself down is the service and cost. If they are offering unlimited item like fries and salads, they should be regularly checking with you to see if you require more. It felt like they kept away from the table so we didn’t ask for more. Secondly and my biggest issue is it costs £11 (yes eleven) for Halloumi. I knew it was £11 but expected enough to cover all guests. It was a measly 4 small slices that shouldn’t have cost more than £3. Don’t buy the sides, it’s crazy money. So overall 3 stars and could easily be 4-5 stars if it didn’t feel like you were being taken for a ride with the prices and if the staff were more attentive. I guess they have the yachting set as a key customer group so they are pricing it accordingly. With the cost of living crisis, this means lots of us won’t go or go again. Total bill for 6, nearly £300. Think we can do better for cheaper elsewhere next time.

Originally thought a bit expensive for meat you cook yourself but my god how nice was that steak, friendly staff & great food, my husband wasn’t too happy though as there were no leftovers 😂

Lovely food - all cooked on hot rock plates. Rather expensive for what it is, but it's fresh, tasty, cooked how you like it (you're effectively cooking it!). Fries were plentyful and nice n fluffy inside, crunchy outside. Was quite busy by time we left (approx 630pm). Salad was med style comprising leaves, baby plum toms, feta cheese cubes and light dressing. Both fries and salad are limitless. Service was ok - polite, informative and happy. We were in a slight rush sadly. The quality of food was worth the wait. 6oz sirloin steak was a stunning cut, generous in portion and of excellent quality! Very tasty. Nice clean restaurant, wide open seating, good table sizes and open plan kitchen presentation (looked immaculate!). Menu is simple but slightly limited (prob suits hot rock plates this way maybe?) - but i would have expected more fish and seafood options - seeing as the restaurants location is 2 mins from harbour!? Strange that they charge non-eaters in your group/at your table a charge of £5 too! Sadly another gripe is there was a dog (non guide or care dog from what I could see) in the restaurant so we naturally assumed they were allowed, but our friends with a 16wk puppy were not allowed in and turned away. We were told only known dogs were allowed! Okaaayy. Hmm. Really odd. Anyway, the restaurant served a purpose - to serve food to those (us) who were hungry prior to ferry crossing back to Lymington. Harbour, yatchs and crossing experience was superb! Perfectly on time and great chance of a lovely sunset photo op.

Fantastic meal for our 10th wedding anniversary. We haven't visited for several years but the quality has remained the same. We both enjoyed our steaks and unfortunately didn't have room for pudding.

A really fun and quirky concept. Great for families as well as couples and probably good for a party of folk as well. We went for the seafood option. A great tuna steak, but I would probably steak to the beef options in the future. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant!

Hot stone restaurant with a range of steaks and seafood plus bottomless fries and salad. Quite expensive (£30-33 for the steak), but the fillet steak comes as a sizeable chunk of good quality meat. Service was friendly but a little slow.

On The Rocks is an absolute destination restaurant! The quality of the food, and the cooking experience make this restaurant a firm favourite. It is on the pricier end but that includes bottomless fries and salad!

Simple and excellent concept. Large steaks and/or seafood that you cook yourself on a hot rock. Quality and quantity of food is high. We order surf and turf for 2, when it arrived we thought that was a nice amount for us not realising that was just for 1 and another load of meat was coming! Accompaniments are bottomless fries and salad. A few beer and wine options to round it off. Desserts looked good and our pavlova was great. Definitely returning!

I used to come here many years ago and was looking forward to coming back. It was as good as I remembered. Highly recommended the surf and turf - very generous portions (and much better value than at The Hut!)

Fantastic staff. The young lady who served as was brilliant. We ordered the 27 ounce chateau steak which you cook on a lava stone at your table. Enough for three and endless fries and salad. Honestly it was like prime fillet steak. 10/10 for service and food. Thank you all so much. No tip added to the bill which was nice, but we left one voluntary the way it should be done.

I really enjoyed my experience for dinner at On the Rocks. The quality of the steak was incredible. Really good size and I loved the fries. Decent salad also. I found the décor very simple and 2 out of the 4 of us had squeaky, loose chairs, which was a little irritating. Top marks for food and service - would love to see a little more effort on the inside.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to meats and I'm presently surprised to be really impressed with the restaurant. The cuts where great. Service was prompt and friendly. Deserts were equally great. Caution as it can be busy. Book if you want to guarantee a table. Will go again if we are back in the area

This is our second visit to The Cow. I do think that it has gone downhill since our first visit last year however this is just based off our experience. Our food took 50 minutes to arrive which for 4 burgers and chips ia to long esp with kids. The kids meals are tiny. My 6 year old was confused and upset that his meal was so small, the kids burger is like a slider size and they got a bowl the size of a side plate bowl with the burger and chips, fine size for my 2 year old maybe at a push 4 year old but 6 year old it was to small. Kids meals are £8 for that which is dissapppinting kids dont get any drinks or dessert just a tiny meal. My burger the chicken burger was lovely and husbands was good also. We also ordered the onion rings, you get 10 onion rings and its £10. This is way to much and not worth the £10 price tag for onion rings. When it said tower I was expecting a lot more for £10. It is expensive for what your getting for kids meals and sides. The bill comes up and is wrong we got charged for items we didnt have but no sorry from waitress just a ill change it and then when the machine is passed to you the first thing it says is about tip it gives a 10%, 15% or 20% choice...... we arnt in the US this shouldnt be the first thing on the machine its very tacky and you should be able to tip as you see fit. Not sure we would return again.

Really enjoyed our visit here yesterday. My husband and I both had a bagel which was really delicious. I had the chicken and avocado and it was really packed with filling, so tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming, I would definitely return.

We visited for a late lunch. The chicken burger I had was lovely, a great piece of chicken and more fries than I could manage. My partner enjoyed his hot dog too. The only disappointment was the online menu didn’t match the one in the establishment - I was looking forward to a raspberry milkshake which was no longer actually on the menu and the prices were more than we were expecting, although still fairly reasonable.
