This is a must for anyone wanting some delicious, value for money food for breakfast or lunch. There are so many options to choose from on boards as you go in the shop and the coffee is a serve yourself machine. Delicious cakes are available as are so many combinations of rolls/baguettes etc. Service from a so friendly lady made the experience great and the prices are very very reasonable.

Stopped as had been here before when holidaying on Arran, still the same friendly service and good quality food at a good price too. Recommended.

This is our favourite takeaway sandwich place on Arran, and I really like the fact that they use genuine, Scottish rolls as opposed to ubiquitous supermarket baps. We usually have something along the lines of bacon and haggis or bacon and egg, but we both just fancied a cheeseburger with onions. The burgers were tasty and juicy and the added cheese and onions were perfect. Prices are most reasonable and, as ever, service was friendly and very efficient.

On a Roll is a fabulous takeaway, although it also has a counter and some chairs if you want to eat in. It is run by a lovely young lady and the various filled rolls, baguettes etc are top class. We had a couple of Scottish morning rolls; one with square sausage and fried egg and the other with square sausage and haggis - and both were superb. As it was a lovely day we ate the rolls on a bench overlooking Blackwaterfoot beach, with its beautiful views across to Kintyre and fabulous birdlife, and it was a truly memorable dining experience. And for those non-Scots who are wondering what square sausage is - it’s a Scottish speciality called Lorne sausage which comes in square slices, and is different to normally shaped sausages, which are called “links”.So - square sausage or not; good weather or bad; On a Roll is an excellent place and I highly recommend it.

We came here as we were looking for a bite to eat. We seen that this place done hot and cold food. There were people already in here too that we could see from the window. They do baguettes/ sandwiches and we opted for a cheese burger with onions and haggis each which was £3.60 I believe. This place doesn't take card but you can get cash out at the post office next door. We also got a pie and three traybakes to takeaway. The prices are very reasonable throughout as the traybakes were from £1. The woman was also lovely who was serving us. I'd reccomend if you're coming through Blackwaterfoot.

Called in here to get 2 simple Turkey Salad rolls. Young boy was serving a group so I had to wait for about 10 mins which was fine as he was on his own. When they left, he informed me” I can’t serve you as it’s now after 3pm and we stop serving at 3pm”. I would have accepted this but he let me stand for 10 mins before saying this. Really bad customer service and experience.

While staying in Blackwaterfoot we treated ourselves to a couple of hot scotch pies from 'On A Roll'. Very Tasty with plenty of filling. Certainly filled a gap...This very popular takeaway is worth a visit and is run by some very friendly and helpful staff.

We wanted to get a croissant from another nearby bakery, but they sell out quickly! So, as a backup plan we stopped here... don't make the same mistake! The Lorne sausage is foul; gristle, greasy, inedible muck. My inlaws call it 'heel-pad' sausage, now I know why! I've eaten Lorne sausage elsewhere and it was lovely, so not sure why they're doing to it to make it so revolting. We also ordered one of the little pies. It went straight into the bin. The service was a little... well, left room for improvement. Smile ladies, you're in hospitality, customers are your bread and butter, try not to be rude to them.

I was walking the Arran Coastal Way in November and this is the first place I'd found open since Brodick so I was hugely relieved and very grateful for the hot coffee, bacon roll and friendly service. It wasn't anything fancy but it suited me perfectly because I hadn't showered for days and didn't want to feel uncomfortable sitting in a fancy cafe. It was very affordable and the bacon roll was excellent. Coffee was from an automatic machine was it tasted just as good as some fancy cafe coffee so I was very happy!

We had bought warm pastries from the bakery around the corner and popped in here for takeaway tea and coffee. We were disappointed to find it was only a machine and so quite expensive but there are picnic tables just across the road so it’s a convenient stop. The woman serving was really nice and helpful.

Visited the shop to buy a couple of filled rolls for a picnic lunch. The shop was busy. As I as being served the young lady taking my order left to have her break and another young lady took over making the rolls. She had just come into the shop and proceeded to make my rolls without washing her hands. When she came with my order I pointed out to her that she had come on duty, prepared my food and not washed her hands. She did not take kindly to this and said “ I’ve just come from the other shop “ which I can only assume is the general store a few doors up.

We stopped here for a quick bite and we were very surprised about the selection they have. Breakfast or lunch it doesn't matter it's all good. The rolls were lovely and prepared with care, it's not just any roll. It kept us rolling during the day. It's fast food, but not the ususal fast food.

I go to Arran regularly, and usually take a packed lunch and flask. On my last visit I had left my lunch at home, so popped in here to get a bite to eat. The full breakfast on offer for the price was very good. Well pleased, might give my packed lunch a miss next time.

OK, it's not a restaurant but what you get is perfect for breakfast, lunch or anytime of the day and there's plenty of choice. Hot drinks are from a machine but they are better than the usual help yourself type machines. The rolls are generously filled as are the salad boxes with a wide choice of fillings. The soups are delicious and there is a good choice of cakes. It's also very good value for money. Take-away, sit outside or in - take your pick, it's a great place for quick food.

Table booked on 24/12/2019 for 9 people to have lunch on 5th Jan 2019. We were told when ordering our drinks that they had only one can of diet coke!! Bad start. One hour after our arrival no food had been brought to the table. Eventually starters were served. Food average. When we asked for salad cream for a salad it was to be told that they didn't have any! I ordered fish and chips and was told they didn't have any fish ' only scampi. Attitude to customers was take it or leave it! I felt they had let us down and Dalry down. We will not go back there again.

For a start, I don’t understand why a commercial building built in the late 90’s doesn’t have a lift given my guess of the average age of their clientele. We went for tea and a scone with my mum who is recovering from getting a new knee. We were told that we could have a table in the foyer cos the restaurant wasn’t accessible. They then changed their mind and told us that we couldn’t order a tea and a scone because there was already 6 people in their restaurant and it would be at least 30 minutes before they could put in a new order. There were 4 people in the empty shop, two in the foyer and presumably numerous staff in the cafe. Between them they couldn’t get us a tea and a scone. We won’t be back.
