Olive's in Norwich

Only ever sampled their breakfasts which have always been amazing and have the best traditional breakfast along with other more adventurous choices, like the loaded hasbrowns with multiple choice toppings, just an amazing menu variety for all. Excellent coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and more. Each time I've been, I've felt slightly chilly, but that's the only criticism I have. Quirky little cafe which has a retro bands theme, child friendly and lovely location. Definitely a loyal, returning customer.

This is the best cafe I've been to. Myself and my husband enjoyed it on 02/11/2024 and their food does not disappoint. I would go everyday if I could! There were minor moments on two occasions we were seated after a group who arrived after us when we booked, and on the 2nd of November another pair was served before us and another couple when both of our tables arrived before them. Besides the rule that should be first come first serve this does not change my views on attending this cafe. It's something myself and my husband look forward to when we are in the city and it's a popular place and I can understand why.

Such a lovely find! Adorable cafe right near the river and Elm Hill with a great menu and cute vibe. We were only there for coffee this time but want to return for food!

Olives is popular for breakfast and you can see why. A really varied and interesting menu with lots of veggie and vegan choices - I love the vegan breakfast wrap which includes maple smoked aubergine as well as sausage and several other things; absolutely gorgeous and I've not had anything like it elsewhere. The cafe has a relaxed upbeat vibe and friendly staff. We like the classic jukebox music and rock and roll posters.

I visited a friend who had recently moved to Norwich and after the trip from London I told him I wanted to go somewhere that served normal food. My earlier visits having been to various pubs serving very overpriced gastro food at prices similar to London! So, he took me to Olive’s and I realised I had found a jewel of a place. Firstly, the food is simple and brilliant, not messed around or pretentious. Good solid fare well cooked and served by the nicest bunch of people you could ever hope to meet. Pricewise it seems cheaper than most of the other cafes in Norwich I’d been to. Plus, it tasted so much better. I hesitated in writing this review as I’m going to return to Norwich quite a lot in the next months. And I’m hoping not too many people go, so I can get a table! But they deserve praise for being a great and honest place. It’s lovely inside and out! My one gripe - not being with them but being with their local Council - who won’t allow them to have tables on the cobbled streets and still charging the poor folk £500 for two tables and chairs on the main street – greedy councils crimpling great local businesses as usual!! But go to Olives it’s a treat! Good food. Great price. Nice people. Perfect!

Came here for a Sunday Morning Breakfast. I had the no nonsense breakfast which had fried bread, toast, sausages, bacon,eggs , beans whuch were were well cooked and gorgeous and I was served quickly. It cost me £14.00 and was well worth it ! A place I would recommed to visit.

Absolute perfection. A proper cooked to order, fresh, tasty, good quality ingredients breakfast. Wonderful friendly staff, great atmosphere and perfect setting. We try to visit this wonderful breakfast cafe for a Sunday breakfast to round off our monthly weekend trip to Norwich. After six months of doing so, we cannot contemplate going anywhere else! The welcome is warm and genuine, the interior is so chic and engaging, the service is terrific and, well, the food!! The food is superb! We both have our favourite dishes now and, despite saying "we will try something else this time" we now always revert to our personal go-to dishes (the Philly Gorilla for the short redhead and the full fruit pig breakfast for me)! All freshly prepared, served with obvious pride and so, so tasty! It is a very popular venue so we strongly advise early booking as we observe so many disappointed souls having to leave because there is no more room. We will be back again... And again... And again...

This fantastic café is in a super location just a few steps from Norwich cathedral and not far from the city centre. Elm Hill is one of the prettiest streets in the city with Tudor merchants' houses and independent shops set along the cobbled road. Olive's is everything a café should be: you are assured of a warm welcome, an excellent menu and professionally cooked food. It really is worth booking as it is, understandably, a very popular venue.

I came here for Sunday breakfast and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was 10/10 and there were lots of veggie options which my partner was really pleased with!! The staff were lovely and it was just such a cosy welcoming environment I could have stayed for hours chatting over a cuppa! The prices are very reasonable, and service was really quick. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Norwich. We'll be back!

From the friendly welcome to the most exceptional breakfast, we opted for the ‘no-nonsense’, my husband and I were very impressed with this wonderful independent cafe at the end of elm hill. So much so that we opted to go again the next day. We only failed to go a third time because we had reached the end of our stay in Norwich. The decor, including some classic tour posters, and the excellent and eclectic soundtrack only added to the experience, but the stand out reason to shout about this cafe was the food. Generous portions, perfectly cooked, all presented nicely. A winner all round and next time we come to stay we will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Olives. The staff gave us a very warm welcome. The cafe is attractive and clean. The food and coffee is delicious and the portions are generous. Altogether, Olives is an utterly charming breakfast/brunch spot. Highly recommended.

Mine and my partner's absolute FAVOURITE place to go for breakfast in Norwich. The food is always incredible, the service is great with a 'home' feel. Lots of options for different types of eaters (meat, vegan, veggie). Their orange juice is freshly pressed and served with ice - so delicious and refreshing. Amazing English breakfast, one of the best in all of Norwich. My partner and I love this place and we come here all the time! The orange juice is freshly squeezed which you don’t get anywhere other than Olives! Cute little place with cool posters in the walls, friendly staff. Maybe family run? Not entirely sure. But everyone is welcoming even with your 4 legged friend. 🐕 Id recommend getting the Olives, but if your veggie I’d try their veggie plate it’s also a great choice spoken by my gf since she’s veggie. They cater to everyone. They also have some good breakfast sandwiches as an honorable mention 👌🏽

Oldish lady on the till (seemed like the owner) was rude, horrible, nasty. Everything seemed like an effort for her. Food very nice, don’t waste your time, go elsewhere. We would have come back if it wasn’t for her. Rest of the staff were 10/10, so high praise to them. If she is the owner, sell it to someone who cares about customers and people who will return. Will NOT be returning again.

After many recommendations my partner and I decided to give this place a go. Unfortunately the service was not acceptable at all. We sat waiting for over 20mins for our at least drinks order to be taken, which did not happen, not one member of staff came over to check on us. After awhile we just stood up and left, no staff member said anything or even acknowledged us leaving. Maybe we were supposed to order at the till? However the server had not mentioned that was the case when we were sat down. I am sure the food is nice after all the recommendations but service is also an essential part of the experience and it failed to live up to our expectation. Hopefully we will come back in the future to actually try the food without being deterred by poor service.

Called in with my dog a week or so ago. I had Norfolk Rarebit and coffee, both were very good. A space was made for my dog to lie down and he was given a very nicely presented sausage. We were both happy.

In these times of Covid, the odds are stacked against sustaining everyday life when business models go out of the window.I had been to Olives once before, pre-lockdown, and this was an opportunity to meet up with a friend over a late breakfast.The management responded quickly to my email requesting a table - pointing me to the facility on the website to reserve and responding to my query after doing so.My friend and I arrived early, but space was made for us upstairs, and when another table by a window became free, they offered us that.Service was efficient and my order, when it came, substituted extra elements of items I had ordered in lieu of ones I had declined.Ollives isn't the cheapest of options in this part of Norwich, but the quality of food and service will find me returning at every opportunity.

A prime position in Norwich city centre on the corner of a landmark road and close to the cathedral means that the prices at Olives might raise eyebrows, but that didn't seem to be an issue for a regular and varied clientele tucking in to a menu with plenty of veggie options and some interesting twists on the traditional.The ambience is hipster, the surroundings are pretty funky, but all we wanted was a cuppa and a snack - the quality was fine though the service could have been brisker, but if I'm in the area again I'll look for a place where lower price and higher pace are priorities.

Love this place amazing breakfasts I get the vegan one which has Richmond vegan sausages maple tempeh beans mushrooms hash brown and buble &squeak highly recommend

The best fry up I've ever had! HUGE AND VEGAN! I will definitely be back, I reckon it's the best fry up in Norwich.

My mum and I went today. I am a veggie but chose the vegan burrito as it sounded nice. It was amazing! Seriously didn't miss the dairy! Only 4.50 it was such good value. Had a delicious oat milk latte too. My mum is a meat water and loved her bacon and egg sandwich which was far posher than it sounds! The two of us had a big lunch for under 20 pounds total which is unheard of! Very impressed at the veggie and vegan options. Will definitely be back with veegie and meat eater friends as it was delicious and such good value.

Estaba en Norwich visitando amigos y entré en Olive's para tomar un café. Aunque no es el más barato, definitivamente fue uno de los mejores desayunos cocinados que he tenido. La burbuja y el chirrido fueron encantadores. Vale la pena una visita, te preparará para el día.

Easily the best breakfast for miles. Well worth the wait every time. We haven’t visited for a while but the food is consistently cooked to the highest standards and we traveled 30 miles to get it. Lovely friendly staff and an awesome resident dog. My dog was made welcome and he was given his own sausages. They even found me some vinegar for my weird tastes. Basically just an amazing place and a must visit if you love a cooked breakfast...!!!

Ordered the black and white following a recommendation. I have to say it was amazing. Quality produce is why this venue is top of its game. Served by a lovely young lady too. My only qualm was the 35 minutes wait from ordering to receiving my food. The bubble and squeek, the sausages and the black pudding were the highlight for me.

Having read rave reviews of the breakfast here, we weren’t disappointed. The bubble and squeak was delicious, the full English enormous. Service was a little slow, we waited ages to place our order but the food made it worthwhile.

I’ve been so excited to come here as so many friends have posted pics and said amazing things and honestly the two breakfasts me and my partner had were so so delicious. But the service is just awful. The young girl behind the counter looked as if she wanted to be anywhere else other than there. We finished our food and stacked our plates and figured they’d be cleared as they were both just lent up against the counter doing nothing and we wanted to sit and enjoy our tea but ended up leaving as it just wasn’t a very welcoming atmosphere but that said, we will be back for the food but definitely not for the service.

Queríamos probar Olives por algún tiempo, pero cada vez que lo visitábamos estaba lleno. Tuvimos suerte en esta ocasión. Este lugar es extremadamente amigable con los perros, ya que llevamos a nuestro perro y pronto nos acompañó el perro residente. Nuestro perro incluso consiguió su propia salchicha de desayuno. El personal era extremadamente amable y muy hablador. Ciertamente tiene una gran sensación hogareña aquí. Fui por el desayuno y ¡es el más grande que he comido, y tengo un gran apetito! Todo estaba recién preparado y todo sabía delicioso. Gran valor para el dinero. ¡Volveremos!
