Walked past the pub and was invited to go in by the friendly Land Lady. I was greeted by the locals having a Monday night Acoustic session. Good choice of well kept real ales locally sourced.

Like it here for a later night drink, near couple of hotels inc Travelodge so its convenient. Always friendly service each time I visit, shame Batenans ales all have isinglass but lagers here are fine for vgns inc Amstel.

Fantastic pub a couple of minutes walk from the city centre. It's a Batemans pub and the selection of beer is brilliant. There is always interesting folk in there to chat with Well run great pub.

Very friendly traditional pub, very clean with friendly atmosphere, good ale, limited menu but all food is excellent. Well worth a visit recommend Ham, egg and Chips also Hunters Chicken.

Not local to me but popped in recently and I'm glad it's still going as it's still a proper old pub - not many of those left in the city centre. Great beer selection. Feels like a "use it or lose it" candidate, so I'd better go in more often!

For a real ale pub.. very disappointed on the ciders.. lazy in picking aspall. And childrens fizzy fruity stuff.

Have just been for the fastest of couple of pints and food in a small window I created for myself. The staff opened the kitchen early for us, fired the food out and were so friendly in all of it. This is a really great welcoming pub. If I’m back in Norfolk, I’ll be right back here!

It's rare to find a decent pub near a Travelodge, but this place is an absolute jem. Good beer, great service. I wish I could have stayed longer

I popped in by accident, wanting a healthy lunch in an independent somewhere nr bus station. Couple of items I wanted from the menu were not available (so choose my unhealthier version). Cheeseburger n chips with salad side garnish. Food was great, quadruple cooked chips (yum) very generous serving. Took home what I couldn't manage in a container which staff generously supplied me with. All in all, great attentive staff, good food, reasonably priced and varied background music.

The landlady and the staff are the best in any pub that I have been to. Breakfast on Saturday's & Sunday's is amazing. Always a good vibe and good people at the pub.

I was introduced to this pub by a friend and found it welcoming, cosy with some well kept ales, had a chilli con carne jacket potato from the lunch menu which for £7 was a generous size, would be more than happy to come back here again soon.

I go every week for a music night, and it's well worth it. The landlady and her staff are lovely.

Lovely staff, brilliant service, welcoming atmosphere. The food is delicious and a generous portion. I will always keep coming back here, a gem in the heart of Norwich. The karaoke nights are always a great laugh even for beginners. They've done such an amazing job of making this pub one of the best in town.

My wife and I visited The Champion yesterday lunch time and had a pleasant few drinks and a tasty meal. Very reasonable prices and very sociable staff, so thanks to the staff and a Happy Christmas and good luck in 2023!!

Lovely pub. The last time was in here was when my Nanny had.

Very much a locals pub, reminded me a little of two films "Hot Fuzz" and "American werewolf in London". The atmosphere was definitely there. It was nicely decorated for Halloween and the bar staff had different costumes on which was fun and very well done. There was lots of drinks to choose from too, a nice array of on draught. I choose the classic pint of Guinness which was £5.10 Pretty good for a city centre location

Interesting place, some real characters hang around, but very friendly. Went on a Monday and there was a jamming session, weirdly couldnt hear it much but there must have been 20-25 musicians in a side room playing - great to see as I couldn't hear! Batemans beer, triple x, xb and gold - 4.6, 3.7 and 3.9 respectively, think they have 2 or 3 others on most of the time - Morette is the main Lager. Pork scratching and scampi fries were eaten, big plus in my mind. Karaoke 🎤 on a Sunday night - very busy. And I think they serve food - didn't see any but there is a menu which looks good. Good feel to the place.

Today my son was accused of using drugs in the toilets and was asked to finish our drinks and leave whilst using the toilets (my son is diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome) This comment was not appreciated, we visited the pub yesterday with no problems and the staff were friendly. We are just visiting from Devon and only came for my daughter’s graduation ceremony at UAE. Shame on you the Champion for ruining our otherwise very delightful trip to Norwich.

Nice friendly pub with a courtyard to the side for outside enjoyment. Jackie made us feel really welcome and even gave me a parking permit so I could park nearby. A must visit pub on your travels through Norwich.

Just popped in for one but loved it, lovely cozy atmosphere and kept a really good pint, not sure if they do food but will return in the future.

Looking for a drink and lunch we found this little gem. Lovely pub with warm friendly service. Food freshly cooked and tasty. Sausage onion sandwich and chips was just the job. Good Beer selection. Bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit.

Got a taxi from the broads to here on a recommendation from a lady we spoke to in stalham . It was karaoke night first one since lockdown the landlady was brilliant told us all about the history of the pub etc . So welcoming by all regulars and staff had an amazing night wished it was nearer home so I could go more often Great selection of beers and very reasonably priced Traditional pub and hospitality hope it stays that way next time we’re back in norwhich will be first port of call

A proper local in a city. What else is there to say? It's only open from 3pm Wednesday through Saturday (not sure about Sunday) during these horrible times but Jackie is really doing her best to keep it all going. I love the place and it can only get better 👍🏼

Excellent service. I'd just stood for two hours in the cold and rain doing a collection for St Martin's. The warmth of the welcome and the mulled wine were just what I needed.

Have been coming to this pub since the late 90s, but less so the past 3 or 4 years. I have been a couple of times in the past month, having a BLT sandwich both times. I like the atmosphere, the music is of the 50s and 60s are playing on the jukebox when I come in on Friday lunchtime. The staff are friendly and I intend to come in every week hopefully.

Now under going a refurb and change of management. Always been a friendly city centre pub. has a lot of regulalars that travel specifically to the pub who do not live locally. taxis are frequently dropping off. Worth a look if you've not tried before.

Had a handsome pint of Bateman's XXXB here a few days ago, superb little pub with a real friendly welcome. A gimmick free pub with good beer, music and sociable locals. Also handily located near bus station.

A very comfortable cosy pub just outside the City centre. This time there were ,I think ,four Bateman's ales on draught ....not sure about others as I didn't look and am not a cider drinker. Unfortunately they don't 'do' food on Sundays.

One of the only two Bateman's Houses in Norwich, this little pub is an excellent example of everything which makes British pubs good. With my American and Australian visitors I spent many happy hours here over Christmas and the New Year
