Oliver's Fish & Chips in Camden

It was fine, though at almost £60 for two people to have fish, chips, curry sauce and a glass of wine I’d have expected better. The batter and curry sauce were good, and a good gluten free selection for my coeliac partner. The fish wasn’t super fresh, the chips were undercooked and the wine was a little ropey.

Ordered delivery. Chips were ok - a large chips is very large (3-4 people’s worth). Curry sauce was homemade and good but the fish lets it all down. Haddock was actually wet and sloppy. Cod not much better. Batter thick and tasteless. Overly bread like and not crisp and light like the best beer batter should be. Will not be ordering again.

Nothing wrong but nothing special, especially for the price.

We ordered two fish and chips, one with cod and one with haddock. Both were very fresh and tasted very good. Very generous portions, very good tartar sauce. Small downside on the fries which were very white... Top service and very good fish 👍🏼 I recommend!

Fabulous gluten free fish and chips!

My wife and I have been coming to this fish and chips shop for the last 4 years, the food is very good, fresh and tasty. But I have to say with a lot of pain inside, that few days ago we were eating at the outside table of their shop during summer. Then suddenly a waitress of the shop came and seat next to us and was eating her food, after eating she suddenly lit a cigarette and started smoking. I said to the girl excuse me could you please go somewhere else and smoke. I have asthma problem...after hearing that the girl looked at us very angry and said you guys get up and seat somewhere else, I can't go now it's my break time and It's my place.. We're old people and without arguing with the girl, we go to another table and sit, Unfortunately that day we could not find the manager of the restaurant to file a complaint..I hope the manager will see my review and take immediate action on the tragic incident that happened to us... And if restaurant management doesn't come up with a good solution then we will take legal action with camden council. I have photo and video proof.. Thank you..

It was early when I went and quite but the food was exceptional

Excellent, very fast and friendly service. They have a gluten-free menu that is just as rich and abundant as the normal menu. At Oliver's we were able to find the typical fish and chips but gluten-free for one of our children, who had not been able to try them until that moment. Very nice atmosphere, affordable prices.

We have ordered gluten free several times recently on Friday and was told today you do not do gluten free on Friday so we will not be ordering from you again bye

Worst fish n chips we’ve ever had - very disappointing

It’s so hard to find a good gluten free fish and chips nowadays but l have to say this is one of the best! It’s limited seating inside and parking is restricted but the staff are lovely and the food is delicious!

We were greeted by a smiling young lady who invited us to sit where we liked for dining in and went for the cod and chips. The cod was very fresh, lightly but fully battered served with hand cut fresh chips and sauces and tasted wonderful. Not sure why there are these negative reviews as remember only one usually small detail may be amiss and a low rating is given but the food was of excellent standard and so was the service. Our order was taken promptly and we were left to eat at our leisure until we finished - clean plates all round. I'd definitely recommend and dine again here!

The food was absolutely delicious and sooooo fresh. The cod bites and chips were crunchy and the fish so tender and flaky. Will be going back soon to try the deep fried mars bar as well!

Firstly, we were not very warmly greeted and just waved towards the table in the corner by the bathroom, even though the entire restaurant was empty (there was only one table that was reserved). There was a draft and strange smell. We waited quite a while for the food to arrive, and the fish portions were noticeably small. The cod tasted watery and was falling apart, the batter was soggy and flavorless. The side of mushy peas we ordered was absolutely dreadful, more like “musty peas.” We had one taste and couldn’t swallow any more because it was that foul. The tartar sauce also had the same suspiciously musty taste. The chips were the only part that was decent. Overall, a very disappointing and uncomfortable meal.

My sister and I are gluten intolerant and were told they do gluten free fish and chips. So we went and the fish and chips were fried separately also they have gluten free vinegar. Well worth the journey .

I visited this place today. The fish was absolutely fresh and tasty. The service was prompt and the price was very reasonable. We had the fish sandwich and fish coujon both with chips. Totally recommend it.

Positives: Good portion. Ordered chips and fish goujons. Negatives: lacklustre, mediocre chips. I was expecting them to be crispy but were quite soggy. Curry sauce was odd, tasted nothing like a chip shop curry sauce. Fish was ok, nothing to rave about. Overall: I wouldn't come back here again. Better off going to the local chippy.

I just got the minimum chips. And I swear the chips were harder than my teeth. Very stale and cold. You probably shouldn't be selling cold chips. People won't have a good time.

We had a haddock and a portion of chips to share and an Israeli salad. The fish was good but the chips could have been better. The salad was nice. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

Astonishingly large takeaway portions (each one enough for two average appetites) - with the standout dish being the salmon steak on wood fire ciabatta bread, including chips PLUS a rocket and olive salad!! All for just under £18! Brilliant - and fast delivery 👍🏼

I’m not a fan of fish so I only get their chips. But I have been going there for 7 years and their chips are delicious, reliable and cheap. I have often brought my friends and they all say their chips are some of the best they have had. My friends also had the fish and really liked it as well! I will always go their when I’m craving a lotta chips!

This used to be of excellent standard and a real delivery meal treat on a Friday night. Then old wiry dry chips started to arrive with the fish , lukewarm and not nice . I don’t think the transport time affects this as the fish is always great and hot . We asked for fresh ones too tonight. This keeps happening lately . Just disappointing really and bad value for money . 😐

My favourite fish and chips in the whole of London! We happily travel an hour from home to reach here, it is 100% worth it. The food is always cooked fresh to order, and the homemade tartar sauce is beautiful. To be honest we always order the battered fish and chips, but the menu is very inclusive; there are grilled fish options, gluten free options, and a lovely range of starters and salads. It's not just your average menu at all. The staff are friendly and polite. If I had to have any complaint, it would be that my stomach isn't bigger!!! The portions are very reasonable, so if you have a good appetite you won't leave hungry. Great dessert selection too.

Everything was kept very simple. The fish was very good, but everything had very little salt. The price was a bit high.

I haddock and chips. Even and thin batter on the fish, it didn't have those fatty, battered ends you often get. Unlimited tartare sauce of which I approve greatly. Nice people. Excellent all round.

I ate in at Oliver's, and it was late afternoon, and not busy, so they cooked my fish — battered cod — fresh as I waited. As such, the cod and batter were perfect. The fish was tasty and flakey; and the batter crispy and oil-free. The chips were classic "fish & chips" chips, so chunky, soft and a bit potato-like. I ate them all. I prefer the thin crispy fries, so it would have been nice to have a choice. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Not the cheapest fish and chips, but you are in NW3 which is a pricy area.

The only fish and chip shop worth its salt in NW3 Camden. Friendly service, freshly fried chips and fish. Generous portions. Only bug I have with the place is: Their mushy peas are not mushy peas - they’re minted mashed peas.

Our usual fish/, chip shop was shut , so I phoned Oliver's cos it wasn't on delivery sites ,they said they would deliver to my address.... ordered fish and chips, it was amazing fish was very white ,flakey,and tasty, chips were golden ,crisp,all food was hot delivery person was lovely ...will definitely going there , food was little more expensive then what I normally pay ,but WELL worth it 😋😋

I was so looking forward to a good fish and chips but the manager of this Belsize Park branch has spoiled it all. The restaurent was completely empty, yet he insisted on putting me in a corner, just by a service door. According to him all the other tables were booked!!! One hour later, no one has entered to occupy theses tables, but I have eaten by a door which blows a cold wind every time someone opens it, which is all the time. Bad experience. What a shame.

It’s consistently no1 in terms of service and food. The staff is humble and provides high standard service. The food is always tasty and good size, I love that gluten-free batter or grilled fish is available, the gluten-free chips is sadly so addictive. Recently I discovered that they use gf vinegar, much better than the usual ones.. they also have lovely salads and pickles which I like, but their menu isn’t limited with that.

This is the third fish and chips I've had since moving to London. This place is my favorite thus far (this could change). I ordered a cod fish with salad, and my hubby ordered the cod fish and chips. The fish portions are quite large, the fish was well cooked - it was nice and crispy, it didn't feel super heavy / greasy either. Though my husband did say it may have been slightly under seasoned, I thought it was fine. I was also quite excited that the salad was quite good. Back home, if you ordered something with salad, the side salad is usually just meh. However, this one had olives and just the right amount of sauce. We went for a late dinner (~9pm), so the place was empty. The service was fine, and we got our food pretty quickly. We recently moved into the area so it won't be the last time we go to this place. I'd recommend checking it out.

After we haven't been for years because we moved house. The fish was fresh only thing I would say is a better can be crispier. More pricy than other fish and chips shops.

This is the best fish and chip you can ever find in London, they make the fish ready while you waiting and it has very fresh taste 👅 They are quite generous with the chips and sources as well Definitely give it a go

Not only do they do fantastic sides the food come piping hot. Proper decent portion recommend to share the chips if getting sides. We have eaten in and also had delivery both equally delicious. I always order the haddock over cod.

Gluten free fish and chips! Everyday with Wednesdays being dedicated gluten free oils. Food was delicious. They also had GF onion rings and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Like gluten free options and tasty chips when fresh and hot. Portions vary from stingy to generous. Experience good and bad - I’m disabled and on a very hot day when i bought lunch because i couldn’t walk 5 mins further to get mine from home they then refused to let me sit even outside (where you wait to be served) at a table despite the restaurant being totally empty. So i basically ate crouched by a tree feeling pretty upset by her meanness. I think this was just the person on the till being mean and the boss would have been nicer.

I ordered for delivery from the Belsize Park branch. It arrived well within the time stated. It was hot and delicious. Great fish and chips.

The worst fish & chips we’ve ever had. We got ripped off by this place. We ordered for pickup and when we got home the chips were undercooked, soggy, some tasted outright raw. The fish was bland and tasteless with too much batter. It was like eating cardboard. We had to pour salt on it to make it taste like something. We ended up tossing all the chips and could only eat some of the fish. Oh, yeah, but at least it was super-expensive!!! We spent £28 for two people! Absolutely ludicrous. Beware and avoid this place! It’s a rip off with no recourse. There is no consistency in quality judging by all the 1 star reviews.

Occasionally eat in, more often take away. Consistently decent fish and chips. I like their "Israeli salad". Their tartare sauce is a bit unusually like a Turkish yoghurt and garlic

Chips are very hit and miss. Seems to depend who is on shift.

Haddock & chips to take away. Really not impressed, couldn't eat even half. Haddock was dry and had a strange taste like Amonia. Batter was crisp outside but soft and slimy inside. Chips were totally bog standard. Not sure what the competition is like around here, hopefully better. Being from West Yorkshire, I can honestly say, this place wouldn't last 5 minutes in my area. Sorry guys, big improvement needed

Due to lockdown couldn't dine in but even after 20 mins walk home the fish and chip both were crispy was well done as asked. Look forward to a dine in experience.

Its a good local chippy. I always have chips and coleslaw. The fish is fresh and cooked in front of you as are the chips. Just wish they sold rock. Its lovely and clean.

Lovely local fish and chips. The onion rings are so tasty too. Especially good when you collect your order yourself as it stays crispier. Highly recommended.

Very overpriced for seemingly average fish and chips. Secondly and most importantly I found a piece of metal in my food. Some kind of grub screw. Manager doesnt seem too bothered by this problem and little action apepars to have been taken. Eat there at your own risk.
