We had a very lovely afternoon tea here. We didn’t reserve in advance but they happily accommodated us. They said it would take 30 minutes to prepare, but brought out our tea and everything was ready in less than 20. They did suggest to book ahead in the future to avoid disappointment. There was lovely air conditioning in the restaurant which felt great on a hot day. They didn’t have a large tea selection, but they did have the classics. Their sandwiches, cakes, and scones were delicious.

We were staying at the Doubletree Hotel and decided to try out there restaurant just off from the pretty foyer. The lounge is quite nice with a fire burning. The restaurant part, at the front, constantly blows cold air. The lady beside us was wrapped up well with a big scarf and i could see was suffering. The appetizers were fine, although we were brought a dish we didn't order. It took well over an hour to get our meal, two lamb dishes and a salmon. However, my husband's salmon didn't come and we had to tell two waiters before something was done. They said "five minutes" and 40 minutes later it arrived without the green beans ordered to go with it. We were charged for the green beans and for the extra non-ordered appetizer. Finally i asked for the manager. He kindly offered to take 15 pounds off the bill but still didn't remove the extra 12.5 pounds we were overcharged. Honestly, any restaurant worth their weight in salt would have comped my husband's meal as we were stuck there for over 2 hours from the time we first ordered until it came. I had to push to get the items removed we didn't want and we were offered a drink each. By this time our 20+ son had gone to bed. It was just very bad service and the explanation was that the waiter was new. We had 3 waiters all scurrying and not knowing what they were doing. (All 3 were sweet though). Sad thing is the food overall was quite good. Loved the lamb. We definitely would NOT go back. By the way, the restaurant was empty all but the one other table of 3.

I was initially impressed by the design of this bar area in the hotel. But the bar service just left me morning. Firstly I had to go to the bar to even be acknowledged and even that they took their time. The pricing was exorbitant even for that area of London.

Having received a voucher from a friend (from Next) decided on the Hilton doubletree near The British Museum for afternoon tea. I know that there have been loads of negative reviews but I found the opposite! IT was really, really lovely. The setting is a bit more relaxed that most afternoon tea's I've been too, with a bar like atmosphere. Service was very cheery but quite relaxed, less attentive that others but in keeping with the more relaxed setting. However when we did see someone extra tea was prompt or directions given to toilets! The food itself was delicious. Really fresh sandwiches that had delicious fillings. The cakes were just like eating fluffy air! Loads of selection and really tasty. Everything was very fresh and beautifully made. I felt very sick after eating that much!!! Really lovely, not the poshest but definitely one of the best food wise.

This is a hotel restaurant, so the food and service is mediocre. Staf can leave you waiting for seating, menus and food. The restaurant has full menus for lunch and dinner and a bar menu. While most food is just middling, the afternoon tea is quite good.

Stayed in the Hotel on business (first mistake - see review) - and decided to have something quick in the Restaurant for dinner - Ordered Fillet Steak - was asked how I want it - Medium rare, more to the rare please! - was told I can not have that - but can have it medium rare. (?) - anyway - steak arrived "well done" - nice and grey throughout - sides not worth mentioning, sauce overly salty (and burnt?) - what a disappointment....

Arrived early, we were seated straight away - there was only 1 other couple there. Strange set up - it’s a restaurant in the foyer attached to the bar. Ordered a pint of kronenberg, a murky ale turned up. They changed it for a correct drink. Mains - we had salmon nicoise - best option of 3 poor choices. It was nice. Salmon cooked well, 1 cold baby potato in the salad. The apple tart tatin dessert arrived frozen. It took 2 people to understand what the problem was as none of the staff spoke very good English. We waited for a new one to be microwaved. The lemon tart was supposed to have caramelised figs with it - these did not appear - the waiter didn’t understand and said they were the berry compote. There needs to be more understanding of the menu and staff need to be more attentive. This is more of a bar and is no place for a restaurant. Will not be returning.

We were given a gift experience voucher for tea with champagne. When I booked a few days ago I had to ring back as they could not take my booking at that moment. When we arrived today they had the booking in a different name so not a great start. We were sat down and only given a choice of 4 teas or coffee so we went for breakfast tea which was fine. They managed to cater for our diatery requirements ok but did not bring any champagne. I asked and the waitress went off to locate the voucher I had given to her which she had not read. The sandwiches were nice, the scones were small and a little dry / stale. The French macarons were very nice and the other small cake bites were ok if a little stodgy. The service was almost invisible. I had to ask for more hot water and noone came to check on us or say goodbye. I did not leave a tip which for me is almost unheard of.

We visited the Double Tree by Hilton Restaurant 92 for a gift experience afternoon tea paid for by our daughter for her Dad's birthday. This has to be the worst afternoon tea we have ever experienced. The venue lacked ambience, and the afternoon tea itself was very average. The scones were burnt and tiny (one resembled a biscuit!). I returned the scones and we were presented with more which were equally tiny and burnt. Just enough jam to cover the scones. After most cream teas, we have normally been very full or not able to finish the quantity of food, but we left feeling hungry. Would definitely not recommend, especially at a price of £25 per person!! Extremely disappointing.

My partner and I had been looking forward to afternoon tea, a birthday present to me from my daughter. Sadly, we were underwhelmed. We were seated in a cold, grey room with all the charm of a conference room and in full view of the main road. When our afternoon tea arrived, far from the tasty treats we were expecting, we were presented with meagre portions of underwhelming 'delicacies'. Sandwiches on stale bread, miniscule tough scones and a few small, dry cakes that tasted as if Mr Kipling had left them out for a few days.If I had been paying for this experience I would have been furious. As a gift I felt disappointed and will have to pretend to my daughter it was lovely, so as not to hurt her feelings.I would not recommend this venue for afternoon tea.

Dont go. We arrived to find no one to meet and greet. A table was pointed out to us and we were left to make are selves comfortable. Not a good start. After a short time we were asked would we like tea or coffee. This was brought to us in what I can only call a builders cup for the coffee and a builders tea pot for the tea none of which matched the china on the table. No tea strainner, china tea pot or coffee carafe!! Then our afternoon tea arrived I could not believe my eyes. What a joke, for two people an assortment of 8 tiny finger sandwiches, four of the smallest scones (salad tomatoe size)severed cold. No toasted tea cake as advertised. A selection of bite size cakes, liken to something one of the cheaper supermarket would sell, then cut to size. It would of been nice before we started if we had been shown the drinks menu as we would of ordered a glass of bubbly or two. Also when we phoned to book the table we were told that hendricks gin and tonic was avaliable for £5 each as an accompanlment to the afternoon tea, again this wasnt offered. Afternoon tea here is no treat.

This is about the Groupon deal of 2-courses for 2 people, served on 7 DEC, 2015.In the website, it mentioned the starter is something like - smoked salmon with capers, horseradish cream and mixed leaves but only calamari is closer to the standard.AND, the main is grilled mackerel fillets on a new potato and red onion salad OR ricotta and spinach ravioli on a bed of roasted Mediterranean vegetables in a tomato and basil sauce. But the menu became fish and chip OR penne pasta with mix peppers!Yes. The website also mention the menu would subject to change. However, the things should match the standard that what they proposed in the Groupon and normal customer would be pleased but NOT DOWNGRADED EVERYTHING, from restaurant menu to PUB FOOD! Honestly, if you presented fish and chip and Penne pasta in the Groupon website, NO ONE WOULD LIKE TO PAY 29pounds for these! THEY ARE JUST PUB FOOD!!! The choices we had were ALL PUB FOOD!I did ask the waitress that whether we could be served the alternative but she said NO! I immediately felt that I was cheated! I never expect Hilton would play the trick like this!Even serving the pub food, they are below standard as a hotel should be: The soup tasted like from supermarket, the fish was tasteless even worse than Bird-eye. This just makes me lost my trust to Hilton group. And forget to mention, this was my birthday, thanks!

Wedding - To say your venue knocked our socks off is an understatement. When we learned that this beautiful space was only a short distance from the OMTH, we were excited for our chic London wedding. We were thrilled by the whole experience from the start and would recommend your amazing venue to anyone who asks. All the staff members worked incredibly hard to ensure no detail was spared and everything was just as we had asked for (and imagined it would be). They even went the extra mile to get superglue! I want to do it all over again haha!
