Gorgeous fish and chips. Fresh and tasty. Best fish I've had for a long time. Sat outside on the promenade. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly outside.

My partner and I visited with our newborn and bought ice creams and drinks. The staff were starting to pile up the chairs outside as I asked if I could use the toilet facilities to change my son’s nappy. I was told rather rudely “No you cannot” After spending money here and with the shop still being open I’m not sure what harm I would have done using the facilities. My son then had to wait with a dirty nappy, till we found a more accommodating business who let us use their toilets.

This is a great spot for various hot breakfast choices. There were 8 of us booked in for 9am breakfast and once we had all ordered, (including my nephew who asked lovely waitress please could he have chips & sausage) we all got our choices promptly, beautifully presented and it was all delicious. My nephew got his chips too! Staff are friendly, and helpful. Seating area outside is nicely kept,we would recommend Oliver’s.

I went with a group of friends when it was armed forces weekend and there was a limited menu. The menu listed tomatoes on toast as an item and when I asked if they were tinned or fresh a lady who must have been management came over and told me rather rudely that they had no salad items because of armed forces…when I mentioned the tomatoes on the menu she said they didn’t have any. I then asked if the beans that were on the menu were Heinz. To which she replied, again very rudely and almost shouting at me in front of a group of people ‘are you kidding? For gods sake, no they are not, alright?!’ Not entirely sure this response is necessary from someone who is working in the hospitality industry. The other younger member of staff were nice. Just a shame about the woman who spoke to me like that.

. There are very few places I have visited were I use the word hostile as a compliment. I had the misfortune of visiting Olivers eatery on Cleethorpes Promenade, on Sunday 6th of May... Now don't get me wrong I'm sure the food is perfectly adequate.. however the service is far is not! My daughter is profoundly autistic with no communication and she wanted to use the toilet (what I considered a basic human right). On entering the café her care worker asked a staff member if they could use the facilities the staff ignored her so she asked again the staff still ignored her she asked again and the manager came over and started to interrogate us on our purchases saying we had to buy something to use the toilets. By this time my daughter had an accident. While I understand the need to only let customers use the facilities the attitude of the staff and management could do with some much needed training. A shocking display of disability discrimination and lack of empathy makes me never want to return.

We arrived half an hour before closing for a snack. We were ignored by all staff members, who were all busy chatting to one another. When we were greeted it was by a very loud woman who basically shouted “we close in 30 mins and I want to go home” the other staff members continued to ignore us and we walked out. So if you are looking to feel uncomfortable, this is the place for you!

I just wanted a full English, the lady serving couldn't seem less interested I asked for no mushrooms and no tomatoes and to just swap them for another item. Sat down my tea arrived and the food followed 5 mins later. The plate turns up with a single sausage a rasher of bacon a hash brown an egg and a thimble of beans. Confused I checked how much I'd paid and it was the same as on the menu. I explained what had happened to another lady who explained that they don't do "swaps" and if I wanted another item I would have to pay extra to replace the items I didn't want. I work up and down the UK and have never experienced this.

Started out well ! Lovely warm day eating ice creams and drink on the tables outside then Totally rude owner !!! Avoid ! I waited behind the line that says ‘wait to be seated !! ‘I needed to go to the toilet so stood to the side between the post and the line , if I’m honest didn’t realise we had to wait for the toilet as it wasn’t on the notice and I noticed a few before me going, the person ! Owner ! On his laptop in the corner ! Began shouting wait there!! Loud enough for everyone drinking and eating outside to hear ! The conversation more shouting at me, begin saying do you know how many people a day like you! I have to deal with ! Really !!! I was a customer of who spent over £20 on drinks and ice creams, and then he said I moved the notice post ! I did not !!! I stood in between them to the side !! He came over in my face while I’m stood behind the line, still shouting although his apparent reason was the music is on ! No way I think all of cleethorpes heard him, I shook my head in total disbelief that he thinks it’s ok to speak to anyone like that ! He laughed and returned to his seat saying wait there use hand sanitizer! I explain I would be doing this review and he said well I will do a review on you ! Really I was a customer that misread the sign, stood to the side between the rope line and the side post and was full on shouted at !! Then was told to just leave ! The staff working behind wouldn’t give me his details either saying “I don’t want to get involved”. involved in what a full grown man shouting at his customers! I have never ever been spoken to in such a disgusting manner ! He refused to give me his name! Clearly he doesn’t deserve customers like me that spends money and made a mistake! The notice should say wait to be seated or the toilet ! I’m afraid I will never return as he really doesn’t understand how to speak to people and shouting at customers is plane wrong on every level

My wife and myself visited Oliver's many times over a period of years .Each visit has been a pleasure The food is always good and great value .Over those years one or two changes have been made with the staff most are extremely nice girls with the odd exception of the staff who doesnt seem to know how to smile and looks so serious . However the rest of the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Of course the food remains it's great value .I think it says a great deal when I can say I witness a lady thanking the management for an excellent breakfast and sending her gest wishes to the chef .Oliver's have really pulled themselves out of the doldrums that the pandemic has caused so well done to all concerned .

Always choose Oliver’s for the Sunday walk rare brekkie stop and I have to say today was unusually bad. Bacon butty was shockingly nasty. Fatty tasteless bacon, felt it was a cheap choice and the bun was spongy. Won’t be doing that again anytime soon. Oh and by the way, your not allowed to use the toilet as a customer, not great for anyone especially those with disabilities, hidden or otherwise. Toilets are open now in eateries so I guess it’s a case of staff don’t want to clean them? Saving grace was the tea and coffee. Normally such good food but today was an epic fail in more ways than one.

We visited here several times during a Monday to Friday stay in Cleethorpes. You can sit outside which was a big appeal for us due to having a dog with us. We tried several dishes including fish and chips, full English breakfast and kebabs, all tasty and cooled well. The prices are also very reasonable and you can have a two course deal. We were too full for desserts at the time but they packaged them up for us to enjoy later. The cheesecake was particularly tasty. I would visit here again and they also seemed to take Covid seriously and make sure that you are safe. Lovely to see an independent restaurant doing well.

Stopped for a cuppa this monday eve. It looked as though the kiosk may have been closing for the evening so I asked the girl politely ''are you closing?'' Her reply was actually a retort ''JUST A MINUTE'' followed a moment later by WHAT DO YOU WANT? I almost responded with a retort of my own but said ''just a tea please''. ''ONE FIFTY'' was the irritable response from the girl....my partner saw the look on my face and asked me what was wrong as she was surprised by my own lack of a thankyou when I took the tea. I had to say to the girl... ''when I or anyone asks whether you are closing the expected reply is a simple yes or no''! This is not the first time I/we have experienced such rudeness there but it is the last time we buy anything from there! I'd arrived a little later than I planned but it wasn't a problem to them they quickly found me a table and I soon felt comfortable. My experience there has taught me that their food is always most enjoyable .A quick look at the specials board showed me they had braised steak, one if my favourites so I didn't need asking twice I ordered it and just as I expected it was delicious .I followed it with one of their homemade sweets , banoffee which U always enjoy and once again I was well pleased with my choice . Having toured round the area and trying various restaurants I always arrive at the same conclusion .You wont get better service ,better food at fair prices anywhere around Cleethorpes.I never fail to get a more friendly reception or smile. This is backed up by the staff and management doing everything they can to help you when help is needed .The food they serve is always a good meal at a faire price .Their sweets are home made as are their cakes which always taste delicious .I have to admit that the mest pies are brilliant .Plenty of meet and the pastry spot on.The attached ice cream parlour also sells plenty of other sweets which to be honest are cheaper than any other establishment on the South Pier .I dont know his he does it. You cant go wrong with anything you buy in their restaurant but J do have to say if they have minted lamb on well try it and spoil yourself.

Love this place for breakfast. Very friendly service, very helpful and the breakfast is always well presented and most importantly uses good quality ingredients. The weekday deal for two breakfasts with drinks is really good value too.

This is an excellent place to eat and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat. The place is very clean and the staff are very helpful. You can sit inside or if the weather allows you can sit outside to eat. The food is cooked fresh to order my favourite was the American Breakfast I can still taste it now ha ha.

Looks better than it is. Staff are rude and barely acknowledge you. Latte (which means milk in Italian by the way) was watery and barely drinkable. Had to ask for a spoon and serviettes and was met with a sense if unwillingness. Even though choice is limited along the seafront, I wont be returning. I find it hard to believe it's got mainly positive reviews.

Stopped for whippy type ice cream - vanilla with flake. Very creamy indeed. Pleasant service and high standard of cleanliness. We now know where to go for Ice cream. Will try the restaurant next time as it looked very popular

We visited on a busy Sunday lunchtime having booked a table as we’d heard how busy this place does get. The cooked breakfast was excellent my husband assured me, and my daughter’s bacon and egg bun was a winner too, with two good rashers of thick bacon served in a lovely soft roll.My minced beef pie with new potatoes & veg was really tasty, with lovely extra gravy which is always nice to see! My mum in law had the chicken breast with new pots veg & gravy- they don’t offer a Sunday roast during the summer we were told- but this was a perfect alternative.

I think it is fare to say that Jonathan and his family have worked extremely hard over the past 9 years to build a business/eatery that accommodates both local people and visitors.

I've been reading some of the negative reviews and I find them extremely hard to swallow .I d been a customer of Olivers for s number of years now and I have never found any of the accusations yo be true in fact quite the reverse , I find the management and their staff extremely helpful in fact I've known them under extreme stress but they always manage a friendly word and smile .Jve never had a bad meal there and un fact I've enjoyed I've had. In this day and age with the rising cost of gas and electricity I'm very much surprised st how theyve managed to keep their prices down as far as they are.Anyone who criticises their prices as being high need to get in the real world and try running a business any cheaper especially when you e plot staff oh yes they want paying too after all good service is expected and that's what you get.Dureing the forces weekend Mr Dacombe out of his own pocket paid for extra toilets to be a available for everyone at no charge and purely because he cares So full Mark's there Sir

I'm going to start this review by stating I have never left a negative review ever! Today myself and my friends was made to feel embarrassed and belittled in front of an audience! After a nice afternoon down the sea front we decided to treat our 4 year girls to an ice cream and enjoy a refreshing beer at Oliver's Cafe as in the past we have enjoyed spending time there with our families. We'd been there a couple of ours as our girls enjoyed playing on the grass area next to the cafe. Towards the end of the afternoon they had ACCIDENTALLY knocked over one of the cafe's advertising flag. They came straight to us and told us which we then told them off and was about to leave. With this an older lady began to have ago at all of us telling us we should have been watching and that our girls were naughty. We had been watching and was dealing with the situation. We asked the lady to speak to us with a little more respect as we had dealt with the situation. We was then confronted by a server asking us to be more respectful. I will also add that her shouting had woken up my 12 week old daughter. We was then confronted by the chef/owner who asked us not to shout at his mother! I would also like to state I am not one for confrontation as I find it very uncomfortable but today i was made to defend myself and my friends. By this point our girls was crying their eyes out apologising. I have NEVER been made to feel so belittled. As we left two families that witnessed the dispute told us they thought the owners was in the wrong and shouldn't have acted in such a way. All i ask if there had been a problem is they confronted us in a more private matter.

Stopped here this morning after reading the online reviews. We headed down to the prom before our journey north today. We’d passed this place on our walk the day before and remembered where it was. We ordered the breakfast special of two large full English breakfasts plus tea or coffee for £12.50. The coffee was delicious decent coffee with a lotus biscuit. The breakfast was huge! Two sausage, two egg, two bacon, two hash brown, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes. Plus a slice of toast and butter. The sausages and bacon were fabulous quality. The mushrooms were cooked in butter and were full of flavour. I hadn’t a hope of clearing the plate but I ate much more than I usually would because it was all delicious. My two boys ordered an American breakfast (3 pancakes with maple syrup, 2 sausage, 2 bacon and two eggs. I asked for an extra plate and my 10 & 12 year old boys split it between them and still couldn’t finish it. Lovely food, smart venue too. You can tell how good it is by the fact that on a Monday morning it was teaming with customers when everywhere else was quiet. Fabulous.

Visited Oliver’s on the Bank holiday Monday. After arriving early and parking up we looked for a place to have a good breakfast and set us up for the day. We hadn’t been to Cleethorpes for some years and didn’t know what to expect. We were all pleasantly surprised the place was very clean and very busy. Full breakfasts were very good, all freshly cooked and not too expensive. Teas coffee and soft drinks were also good.

Can’t fault the place, Oliver’s is our go-to in cleethorpes for good food reasonably priced!! I’d like to say i’ve tried everything on the menu i’ve been that many times but i just cant resist a full english! Everything is such good value, a full english in cleethorpes that is piping hot, good quality ingredients and less than £8 is hard to find. Its always rammed in here yet the staff are always friendly and attentive will continue to come here. P.s the dog icecream is a hit with baxter!!!

Absolutely love the food here better than pub grub, taste and looks home made! Very reasonable prices and good selection of foods and drink from breakfast to Sunday dinners! It is quite small in their but that doesn’t put me off if you are to go with any more than 2 of you I would recommend booking a table. 100% would recommend eating here down Cleethorpes!

Called in mid Sunday afternoon with a craving for a bacon butty with brown sauce. Served just what we needed, loads of well cooked bacon in a big floury bap and a bottle of sauce with no questions asked. Neighbouring tables outside were enjoying bottles of wine to go with their meals, but pot of tea and a coke did us fine. £9 all in. Set me up for the walk/ drive home. oh, you need the security number on your receipt to get in the loo and weirdly there was a queue for the gents apparently?!

Called in to Oliver's for breakfast with the wife this morning..... all because she wanted one lol .... although all the staff are kind and more than polite I only had one mission on my mind and that was to get breakfast, my wife ordered a large and not wanting to let the side down i made it two large... this was the start of my dismise. On seeing what the Chefs placed in front of both of us. I can only say it would be a mammoth task for any individual. I'm sure that they must have felt that something was up what all i could manage was the beans and plum tomatoes. I left my plate looking like it hadn't been touched where as the wife's plate looked like it had been part of a raid from a group of refugees.

Been to abbys numerous times over the year's but never had the fish and chips until now. Ordered the small portion as I fancied a dessert how wrong was I it was so big that I couldn't finish it. Best fish I have had in a long time needless to say I will have to have the dessert next time, service as usual was excellent.

Incredible gem in an incredible location. Came for a birthday meal with the 3 course Sunday option. Seated in lobby and brought a drink and menus to browse until we were shown our table which our starters came promptly. All 3 courses were exceptional and well received by all party members. Staff were lovely and helpful and offered great service. Would highly recommend this establishment and it’s not too out of anyone’s price range for a special occasion whatsoever - very very reasonable. Thankyou for having us and most definitely look forward to a return visit ☺️
