Olive Tree Restaurant and Cafe in Bridgend

Service in this place is very slow .we ordered two hot chocolates they tasted like dish water went to complain they did make me another but no difference awful won't return sad nice looking place.

So we took our family of 9 adults and 2 children for breakfast which came to over a £100. When the breakfast came one of the plates were missing beans? Called waitress who gave a mumbo jumbo answer and said a dry breakfast was asked for which was absolutely not the case and would not give us the beans!! Also we paid for 2 pieces of toast which we waited for and never came! Again I asked the waitress and was told it was put on one of the breakfast plates.I don't understand why? After saying we have spent over a £100 we were then given 1 piece of toast when two were paid for. Customer service was awful!!!

On arrival were told there was an hour's wait for food (although there were empty tables near us) and the member of staff suggested we tried the coffee shop - Green and wild - in the food hall. Followed her advice. We waited 45 minutes for an over priced sandwich. Staff were friendly and apologetic but unlikely to make a return visit.

Really poor service - some of the food on the dinner was cold. My daughters meal arrived as the waiter was clearing the rest of the tables plates, we had to remind staff 3 times that we still hadn't received it. One bowl of vegetables between 4 adults, we were told more vegetables were on their way but after asking twice more for it and nothing being brought we just gave up. We even had to ask where our drinks were as they didn't arrive. Not great, won't be returning.

Delicious food in a really cute setting. The best stuffing I’ve had on a roast out. Delicious cakes to choose from and lovely coffee too

Visited the Olive Tree today at about 2 pm the place was nice and busy with a great vibe. We accidentally got in the way of one of the serving staff as we walked in, and we exchanged smiles we asked where to sit and she said take a seat where you like. We sat there causally looking at the menu, and after sometime we thought perhaps we better go up and place our order. I asked at the till and they confirmed that we should place the order at the till and there was no table service. Anyway with that sorted we had a great All Day Brunch with coffee, great meal good quality. The meals and coffee arrived very quickly. All round a good experience, however the fact that there is no table service, should be made more obvious. Nice people good food. Happy to visit again.

Love visiting the Olive Tree. The food is always delicious and staff extremely friendly and helpful. I recently had the Sunday lunch here which was one of the best dinners I’ve had. Can’t wait to return. Thanks all! X

Lovely food and great service! Lots of choice for adults and children. The kids enjoyed looking around the garden centre afterwards, we will be back.

Went at 12:10 pm went to order and was told that the meal would take an hour to come , did not bother to stay we just walked out before ordering , the place was half empty , not impressed at all .

This is one of our favourite places for coffee. We visit a few times a month for cappuccino and hot chocolates and cake which is delicious. It is usually pretty busy and waiting times are affected by this. We particularly love to sit outside which is a lovely area but the inside has a fantastic atmosphere. It is always clean and the servers are polite, friendly and professional despite usually being very busy. Highly recommended.

My friend and me were very dissapointed ordered the cream tea which described a scone it turned up as a dried out tea cake noticed bag behind counter with them very hot inside. Staff not happy about my complaint no compensation sorry guys will be planning tea elsewhere next time 😞

6 in our group ranging in age from 9 to 79 (plus 2 dogs) and including meat eaters and veggies. The 9 year old said it was the best pizza he's ever had (I dunno, but he always has Pizza!) vegan Sunday roast was amazing and so was everything else - service was quick and friendly, we sat outside as we had dogs but the outside was covered and just as lovely as inside. My aunt had a jacket potato rather than a roast and even that was really generous, loads of salad and coleslaw etc. Brilliant to have such a good selection of other things as well as the ace roasts - something for everyone. We combined it with a walk to the beach at kenfig nature reserve (8 mins drive away) and could not have had a better day. Top marks. Not far from motorway either.

We have visited this restaurant within the Pyle Garden Centre, 3 times over the past month either for Breakfast or Lunch. We have , on each occasion, been impressed with the quality of the food, perfectly cooked and presented as well as being sensibly priced. On each occasion it has been fairly busy with most table occupied, but this has not slowed down the food service. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Me and my husband visited for a quick lunch on Saturday, my husband had the burger which wasn't fully cooked in the centre and I had a breakfast and the egg wasn't cooked, the white was slimy and runny, we decided not to complain as we didn't have time to wait for fresh ones, so just ate around it all left, I wouldn't have wrote a review if it was just bad tasteing, but 2 raw items of food is not a small issue!

The sandwiches were the only okay part of the afternoon tea. The scones, which looked lovely, were in fact full of way too much salted butter so wern't very nice at all and the cakes were stale. The tea was nice but then you cant really go wrong with tea.

Today I had the plaice and it was delicious. Service was great and friendly. They had large fans which gave a welcome breeze on such a hot day.

Oh what a lovely surprise. Just popped in for quick lunch, not expecting much variety really. The menu left us spoiled for choice. Other diners were all very happily tucking in, Their meals all looked fresh and beautifully presented. Were were served quickly by delightful staff with gentle quiet restful manner. The meal was first class and the salads crisp and wonderful accompliments. The tea and coffee perfect. We were so content it was plainly a place to return to often. The metal chairs were a let down, but had they been comfy we would have probable stayed too long. The price was really honest and fair. So well done. We will be back working our way tthrough the menu

Just been for breakfast and the quality of the food was shocking. Cheap sausages, tomatoes just slapped on the plate, the fried egg was like rubber, totally inedible. Drinks were the only positive, but you can't really go wrong with a pot of tea!!!Been here many times, can only assume a change in chef or management has led to the decline of this once great cafe. Will not be returning anytime soon!!!

We had lunch yesterday 6 th May ,we sat outsidej , very pleasant setting . Nice and cool place ,it was a hot day .We all at sandwiches ,2 prawn, and one pickle and cheese with coffees . They were presented nicely with salad and crisps . Saff were very good .

Not only impressed with the amazing selection of plants and shrubs in the garden centre, and various other outlets there now. (Haven’t been for a long time) the Olive tree, where we were going to just have coffee.... decided on Niçoise salad, and a Greek type salad, both served promptly despite it being full to capacity, fresh, crispy salads served with bread and oils & balsamic, tasty and filling and very reasonable priced menu.

Had lunch here today while visiting the garden centre. To be honest it was a little disappointing. We both had the soup & ‘bread roll’. The soup was tasty enough although could have been a larger portion for us. But the bread was one of those 1/2 baked baguettes that you can buy in Lidl’s, but hardly baked, doughy & pale looking. Half each. I left mine but my husband was hungry so did eat most of it. I suppose I should have complained while there, but it was getting busy with lunches. service was good though & lovely pot of tea.

A very understated place. A good choice of food and lovely staff. They do an evening once a month with live music and a three course meal for £20.00pp.

We use the Olive tree quite a bit. But today it was packed they have changed the seating plan which does not appear to work well. Ok lunch was perfect and as usual staff are great. It can be a noisy venue but today they had loud music which was awful. I could not wait to leave. That said i would have scored a 5. Note to management think of people who dislike loud music above the cacophony of table chatter. But thank you for splendid lunch.

Well were do I start service poor felt sorry for the staff running around.clearly under staffed . Tables dirty. Food very expensive for the portion you get. But saying that gone down hill since we were there last I remember the food was lovely going back a year a ago.need to get a tidy chef guys.The restaurant needs new management. Sort it out . We visited today , had a look around the garden centre then had a meal in the Olive Tree cafe, we had 3 different meals and desserts , all of them excellent. It was very busy there but the staff were very efficient and pleasant. Looking forward to the next visit.

Visited this morning for breakfast with Santa, pre ordered breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Arrived to a packed restaurant the staff were excellent and very organised. Coffee and sandwiches were served quickly and tasted lovely. Santa and his helper arrived and went around and talked to all of the children, we then had a chance to have a photo taken with Santa and then taken to the grotto area to choose a present excellent choice of gifts for the children. Santa and helper were great very engaging I even got to have my photo taken with him. A warm welcome from all of the restaurant and garden centre staff felt very Christmassy. Would recommend for children of all ages.
