Olive Tree Restaurant in Bristol, City of

Celebrated a major birthday last night at this excellent place. The food came swiftly and was very good indeed. The portions were very generous too, and I struggled to finish. The atmosphere and staff was friendly and welcoming, and the team were very obliging in accommodating our specific requests (such as having a mixture of hot and cold mezzes, which are superb!).

Food was raw. I asked for the meal to be replaced and he then just overcooked the same food he initially brought to the table. The waiter was very disrespectful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Children’s menu says with rice yet all the kid’s meals arrived with chips. Prices have increased too. £19 for a meal is unreasonable.

Fantastic food and great service

This is our local! And it's a travesty it gets less people going thete when you consider the food is far superior to Porto Lounge, which is very popular. I suppose it's the atmosphere in PL as I can't think of any other reason. Give this a go especially the hot meze starter! Otherwise all meals are top notch EDIT-1ST OCTOBER 2024. Unfortunately, I've been forced to concede the food in Olive Tree has been hit and miss lately!! I gave it 5 stars before but 3 stars this time. I like a nice moist grilled lamb. Unfortunately, the last time we visited the meat was charred to smithereens!! The whole family were quite underwhelmed by what we all eat bar the starter! My shish kebab was dry! I was thinking the guys down the road do a better shish kebab! And costs half the money! It's a real shame as the place has great potential and I think it's really crying out for someone to just shake it up and give it something! Fishponds has a lot of nice eateries and this place could be up there. It's missing out, I feel. For the most part it's mostly empty, I wonder how they've kept it going for so long? I can't imagine they're making any profit from it. It's a real shame and I don't mean to slate anyone who's trying. But feel like the answer is so obvious. The food needs to be good all the time! Not just sometimes. In La Piazza, I've never complained about their food, which I can add is consistently good.

Delicious meal here tonight. I had lamb kofiti , melt in your mouth. Delicious lemon tart and rose wine. 10 out of 10.

Big shame!! Tried booking a table and thought would advise in advance bringing our service dog to be polite. Then told by staff they do not allow guide or service dogs on the premises. Perhaps they should do their research in to the law regarding this.

We booked the Olive Tree for a wake for my late Mother in Law. We were given the whole of the garden area as we had over 50 guests coming. The food was exceptional as usual. We chose a range of starters that were served in big dishes so everyone could choose whatever they liked. This was also done with the main courses. We chose 4 mains with rice, chips and salad. Everyone was blown away with the food. The service was also exceptional. We had a free bar but drinks were still served to us by the very polite and friendly staff. The whole event exceeded our expectations. We have eaten here numerous times in the past and always find the food and service consistently good. Thanks very much for looking after us all so well. It's very much appreciated. I highly recommend the Olive Tree in Fishponds.

The food is usually very good from here. unfortunately today it wasn't. I ordered the chicken burger, which comes in a silver tray with the chips and coleslaw. by the time the food got to us the burger was soaking wet and couldn't pick it up, due to the coleslaw juice. don't get me wrong the chicken was great and food was hot. I just couldn't enjoy my burger as there wasn't one. May be put anything like coleslaw in a separate tub/ or the burger.

The food was really good, the grilled sea bass was amazing as was lamb kofta and the mojito was great. Lovely atmosphere and good music in the background. Hoping to go again soon. :)

Absolutely FABULOUS NIGHT! The food was hot and yummy! Very authentic Greek food that tasted amazing! The seating was spacious and fresh flowers were placed on every table! A amazing back room decorated in flowers which was mesemerising available for hire also! Overall a local gem definitely worth a visit! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

The moussaka didn't have layered veg as described and the chips were too thin and hard. Disappointed.

Went there recently for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised: the quality of the food was excellent! The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the caper sauce was delicious. Great atmosphere and very attentive waiters

Great meal here on Saturday night, the last time we were here was the opening night so that was quite some time ago, food was very tasty, well presented and more than reasonable , plenty on the drinks menu too. The waiter was helpful and easy to get along with, great relaxed atmosphere and nice to see the restaurant busy.

Food delivered was warm, not hot. Huge amounts of chicken and a generous Burger, less so the sides.

Fabulous food, and great service. Good selection of wines too. I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

We had a amazing birthday for my son at this place food and service was great. They also have amazing garden at the back of the restaurant it was lovely. Also very friendly staff for the Kids. Thanks to all the Olive three restaurant staff and management. Will be back for sure.

Perma loud noise no respect for locals

Constantly plays loud music past 11pm keeping local residents awake

Not so much a restaurant as it is a party venue. Book for dancing with thumping bass if that is your thing. Not for food. Appear to be breaking terms of alcohol licence.

Having a massive loud party in this location at past midnight keeping all me and my neighbours in student accomodations up late. Will be complaining through the council if this persists as it isn't appropriate

Not too good really, sorry. The hummus and bread were lovely, but the moussaka was just a lot of mush, but the chips were good. The chicken tagine was a few bits of chicken with some olives thrown in, certainly not what I was expecting as I used to make it. The baklava was great. Plentiful but a lot of money for not too great a meal.

First time we have eaten here, just saw it as i was driving past one day and decided to book a table. Food and service were outstanding. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely be returning customers.

I came for a family lunch on Saturday and we had a lovely time. The service was great and the food was super tasty and very good value for money. I'd definitely recommend and will be back again soon :)

Overall the food was good. The fish tasted burnt but edible. I would order from here again to give them a chance.

Chicken was tough, atmosphere was soulless and the service was none existent and grumpy. It’s also not cheap! This restaurant feels like the type of restaurant that cares about profit not customer experience. Unfortunately those restaurants won’t last with this focus. Focus on who matters, the customer and the profits will follow.

I’m a very disappointed in this restaurant I went a few weeks ago and they told me everything is halal so I ordered the steak and chips. I then went there again and they told me sometimes it’s halal and sometimes it’s not. They should not even mention halal anywhere so don’t go there if your looking for only halal food!

Great service, really tasty and perfectly cooked food, and good portions. It also has a chilled atmosphere and tables are not too close together so it feels private for you group. A lovely evening!

Never received my food, even though justeat said it was delivered. Phoned the restauraunt and they said the problem was with justeat and i should contact them. Never got a refund. Shame, it was the first time i tried this place...wont be trying again. VERY UNRELIABLE

An amazing find at the top of fishpounds Road in Bristol. The Olive Tree severs the perfect choice of Mezze. The food was amazing and the service too and to top it off there is a nice patio out the back of the resturant that if the weather is nice I would highly recommend

We came in on a lunchtime. 3 adults. 3 children and 2 infants. We ordered 2 X beef stifado. A Cajun chicken and bacon wrap. 3 x children's meals of chicken nuggets and grilled chicken. With a side of onion rings. We also ordered coca cola x 2, a Fanta and a strawberry milkshake. I have to say the food was incredible!! The beef stifado was tender and falling apart. The portions were huge! The wrap had incredible flavour. The kids meal portions were quite big and we couldn't believe the price. So good! Even the drinks and milkshake were not only an affordable price but lovely. Milkshake was freezing cold. Made fresh and thick. Everything you want in a milkshake. The service was impeccable. We were quite a noisy bunch with all the kids but the waiter cracked jokes, entertained the children and was attentive and kind. All of us said when we left we can't wait to go back. Next up on our agenda is Sunday for a roast. Overall amazing price, amazing service and amazing food. We will be returning!!

We have ordered lots of times from here and the food has always been lovely. Tonight, we had 3 chicken shish meals and the salad on all 3 tasted like fish. I’m not sure if the salad has been kept near to fish and the onion has absorbed tye smell or whether liquid from fish has contaminated it. It was awful. I rang the restaurant and all the chef kept saying was “ I didn’t cook it with fish! “ I offered to take the food up, he told me not too. I asked him no collect, he said no. I will never order from here again

First time trying food from here. The hot platter was hit and miss, falafels were lovely, felt handmade, the squid and mushrooms less so. The cold mezze platter was lovely, everything was delicious and authentic. Bread and olives were great too.

Olive is usually brilliant, not so much tonight. Delivery took ages, rice was just regular plain instead of the usual lovely flavoursome one and we ordered Cookie Dough ice-cream and got a completely different variety that wasn't even on the menu, and wasn't that great. Disappointing

Lunch menu is excellent value. My wife and I shared a hummus starter then each had a main (chicken shish, grilled lamb chops; both with salad and chips). With a soft drink and a large glass of house wine the bill came to £35 (excluding service). Portions were generous without being excessive. Service was prompt and friendly. Would happily go back next time we’re in Bristol.

We went to The Olive Tree for a late Sinday lunch with the family. Great service and looked after the children very well. Very accommodating and flexible. A great menu with super cooked food and generous portions. We will be returnng.

Just coffee but the food was good last time

Got someone else’s order through just eat. Spoke with the restaurant who said there was nothing they could do and that we had to contact just eat as it was their error. No refund or my order was offered. Just dissatisfied all round really.

Food was very late and a big disappointment too. The Kleftiko arrived with rice and salad instead of mashed potato! Also the lamb shank was smaller than usual and some grisly fat was left on too. This was very disappointing as this is not your usual standard. I spoke to the restaurant, a polite man called Patrick apologised and implied that they will give a discount or replacement meal if I collect it. Unfortunately, I am physically disabled and it is not feasible for me to to collect it. It would of been better if they'd deliver a better replacement and take the bad one back instead!

Once again superb meal. Four of us went out for dinner on Saturday night and the beef stifado was completely melt in your mouth and kleftiko superb! Highly recommend as excellent food and friendly service too. Will be back very soon!! Thank you 😊
