Olimpia Bakery in Thanet

This bakery feels like it has been picked up from Greece and placed in Margate, it is absolutely amazing. I had a stroll from the beach in search of something nice for lunch and I hit the jackpot. Pies, pasties, pastries, sandwiches, cakes…….. you name it they have got it. I got a ham and cheese pie and a spinach and feta slice both of which were delicious. I could rave on about this bakery but instead check it out for yourself & if Bakeries are your thing you are in for a real treat.

The food is outrageously good.... And so reasonably priced! Staff are super lovely and efficient. Cafe itself is immaculately clean and bright. Make sure you have both savoury pastry AND cake!!!

We left the beach for lunch and wanted something other than fish &chips and found this wonderful bakery/cafe just nearby. What a wonderful place. There was so much to Choose from. We settled for the spinach and feta pie which was lovely. Coffee and tea also exceptional. The grandchildren loved seeing (and trying) all the delights on offer. Very reasonably priced too. Can you open one in Ashford please?!

Fancy place serving good coffee but only average tasting food. Pastries were too crispy and wasn’t flavourful. It certainly looks attractive from the outside though.

Spotted this place when we were looking for lunch. It certainly offers a change from sandwiches! All sorts of authentic Greek food, and the most beautiful cakes. Highly recommended.

A first class bakery. Great food and drink , friendly staff and very well maintained facilities. There’s nothing not to like. Have been several times and I’ve now adopted it as my go to breakfast location when I’m in Margate. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Walked in and greeted with a smile, so much choice of cakes and treats. Was engaged with while I was choosing and had a laugh with the staff who helped me choose what to have while he made my coffee. Instead of waiting they made me sit down and brought it all over to me. Great soya cappacino!! Really warm feel and can’t recommend it enough. Avoid costa and head over the road to here! Oh, I am so glad I diverted my shopping trip to try this bakery and patisserie. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw the amazing display of goodies. It was difficult to make a choice, and not buy everything. I was delighted with my choice, and enjoyed my treats with a coffee later.

Oh my gosh, by pure luck passed by this place looking for somewhere for a light lunch so popped in (having left a cafe that wanted £13 for a sandwich!), & it was wonderful! Lovely strong proper coffee, panini was great but best of all were the baklava & cakes, such a selection of indulgence, the custard one & all the small/mini ones so good. Went back the next day too but it's going to take a while to try everything, which is exactly what we intend to do! To make it perfect all of the staff (family I'm sure) were really friendly & helpful, even recognised us on just our 2nd visit, please do try here & you shouldn't be disappointed.

Would highly recommend visiting the Olimpia Bakery in the High Street for a great coffee and their sumptuous array of homemade and speciality cakes and savouries. A very smart and tidy cafe and a very warm welcome by the staff who were excellent! I would definitely recommend a visit when you are in Margate

The cakes are amazing!! It can be quite pricey but the quality of food is very high. The place is very clean, tables cleared very quickly. Ideal for a coffee & lunch stop. Ideal lcation too!!

Food was awesome, both the savoury stuff and the sweet stuff. The people working there were very kind and helpful. Price-quality is probably off the charts in a very good way. I would definitely go back there so a meal. The variety is just amazing.

Well all of us can only say is wonderful. The staff are so friendly, the choice of fantastic Greek cakes pies and baklava was just amazing. The flavours were wonderful and reminded us of the local places where eat in the surrounding area of Aptera in Crete. Do not walk by this is a real treat for your senses loved it 5⭐️

Stumbled on this gem of a cafe. Started with a savoury pastry, which was mouthwatering. Then a Greek orange cake. Amazing. Coffee was also good. I have seldom seen such big cream cakes on sale. We both felt spoilt for choice. So sorry we were only in Margate for the day and couldn't go back.

I recently visited Olimpia and received a very warm welcome. The lady who served me recommended an almond cake along with an iced coffee. Both were absolutely delicious! I sat outside as it was a lovely day but it was wonderful to see it busy both inside and out. The premises was clean, tidy and had a warm, friendly feel. The range of cakes and treats was amazing - beautifully displayed in the glass cabinets. I will most certainly be returning and have already recommended a trip to my mum as well as my friends. I'm so happy to have found this gem in the heart of Margate, only a 5 minute walk from my house! Definitely worth a visit for both locals and tourists!

Serves great coffee and excellent selection of pastries and deserts, well worth a visit if you a sweet tooth, we will come back next time in Margate.
