Lovely little cafe, nothing was too much trouble. Extensive menu, something for everyone. Can’t understand some of the reviews on here as we loved it. Staff were very friendly. We had the sausage and bacon baguette, filled as much as it could be and served with salad and tortilla chips. I struggled with the size of the meal. Ham sandwiches were beautiful, lots of very good ham and served with crisps. Cream tea was more than ample, beautiful home made scone. Ice cream sundaes were HUGE, looked delicious. Dogs are allowed inside too. Can’t find a single fault with this little gem

Gods hill is very busy with coach trips etc so a fair few people milling about, there was one loo available on the day so queuing for a long while, totally & utterly inadequate for the number of customers in the cafe. The menu is extensive however if you don’t mind paying £18 for a cheese salad & £15 for a simple crab sandwich, a simple cake £6 ! Don’t bother go across the road park for free in the Old Smithy great staff great food & realistic pricing, lots of room to move & relax ! I have noticed sadly the decline in the IOW in the last 10 years Sandown, Shanklin have no decent shops or high street lots of empty shops & an air of dereliction.

Hi, we absolutely love coming to the Old World Tearooms, the staff are lovely, the food is fabulous, we are Islanders and visit twice a week. Only one criticism, I am disabled after surviving a serious motorbike accident. In your toilets (which are spotless!) the loos are very low. Several times I've had the embarrassment of not being able to get off the seat! There is simply nothing to hold on to. Could you please put either a rail, or at least a handle that disabled folk can hold on to to help them off the loo! Thank you so much, see you all again very soon!

Popped in to look at the menu, and ...what a menu it was! Couldn't help but look at all the food coming out to everybody else & it all looked great. Had lunch with my daughter, who chose a meal from the children's menu...which was tasty & plentiful. We both very much enjoyed our food in a spotlessly clean environment, and were served by a really helpful & polite team of staff. Will definitely come back, next time we are in the area. Can't recommend any more highly.

We 'discovered' this little gem a few years ago, and now it is one of our regular stops on our holidays on the Island. The service is always friendly, cheerful and efficient and the food is delicious – and plentiful! We stopped for what we thought would be a light lunch, but when it came it was more like a banquet. And all well presented and delicious. We visited a total of three times during our week stay on the Island, once specifically for the ice cream sundaes which have to be seen to be believed – and tasted!

God forsaken, Godshill.Having been royally spoilt earlier in the day - fabulous crab sandwiches on the beach in Colwell - m'Sahib and I were on the lookout for lunch. Looking back, it would have been better to go hungry. The menu is atrocious - even the dog turned his nose up. Sticky tables, litter on the floor and this is the best that Godshill could offer? The trays are sprayed up and stacked (see photo) ready to be used again. What a delight. At least the carpark was free.Having rejected most of the 4oz crap-in-a-bap, sorry 'burgers', and the rest of the overpriced tat, I ended up with a battered fish finger in half a baguette. Really? Is that the best you can do? Pre packed salad comes in a plastic box, the chips are truly minging (all 8!) and a packet of ready salted crisps thrown on top for garnish. Shouldn't complain, at least they were in date.Seriously, I haven't had (and paid for) food that was this bad since I last opened up a ration pack. Mind you, those Spangles were left over from the Suez crisis but at least they were still edible...Shoddy everything. If I could point at one business that should fail, it would be this.I implore you, stay away from God forsaken Godshill. What a dump.

Terrible . Seems to be the sole employer of IOW surly youths (IOWSY) . Really unwelcoming place with COVID orders everywhere ,no manners and absolutely no need to “serve” ( aka virtually dropped onto the table by IOWSY) food in the disposable containers they are using -tea in a paper cup with sachets of UHT (this is a tea room!!) and a boring sandwich with plastic wet cheap ham ,served in a plastic box with another plastic container with the pre prepared soggy salad garnish with a bag of Walkers crisps on top -disgusting ,like the kind of packed lunch you’d be embarrassed to send your child to school with. Place was busy ,maybe trading on past glories , we went on a recommendation from someone who came a few years ago but Im guessing they just don’t care anymore -seems a cynical money grab exercise ,and looking at the reviews on here (which they can’t be bothered to reply to) they definitely are giving the IOW a bad name and you should avoid .

I’ve driven past this place several times and have wanted to take the family there, partly because it looks really nice from the outside but also the large advertising board outside states gluten free options. We only visited for afternoon tea and had hoped to get something fab for our ceoliac 7 year old daughter. Now to be fair, most of the main menu is either gluten free or can be made gluten free which is great. But after studying the menu there wasn’t that many options for gluten free cakes. She chose choc fudge cake and after queueing up for about 10 mins to order, we were gutted to be told they’d sold out. So she had ice cream instead. This might sound a little unfair, but we just felt a bit underwhelmed. We had cream tea, which was nice but not the best scones I’ve had.

Clear guidance on how to enter outside area with hand sanitiser available on arrival. At our table very clear instructions on how to order food/drinks. Very helpful and polite staff. To top it off the cream tea was delicious. Well done all

Stopped off for a drink whilst wandering around Godshill. Returned a couple of days later for lunch. Plenty of GF choice for my wife. Very friendly & helpful. Food was great even to the extant of salad & crisps with all baguette/sandwich meals

Lovely trip to The Old World Tearooms today. Really clear information regarding the steps implemented due to Covid 19 restrictions. Cream teas and sundaes all great, and friendly and professional service from the team.

Godshill has a plethora of such tearooms, but the Old World Tearooms stands out from the crowd. It has a lovely garden with well spaced out tables, complete with sun umbrellas and an extensive menu of treats and favourites. We were tempted in by the draw of a chocolate cream tea - an indulgent chocolate chip scone, clotted cream and a flake - and the wide choice of ice cream milkshakes and sundaes, which are beautifully presented (if not slightly embarrassing when delivered to the table, all cocktail umbrellas and sparklers!) The flavours and quality of ingredients here are great, it is certainly not style over substance as is often the case with cafes aimed at tourists. My only slight criticism is that my milkshake was served in a disposable plastic cup, even though it wasn't a takeaway order.

Great service staff are always happy and some been serving for a number of years. Wife likes the chocolate scone options I am more traditional with fruit.

Had the crab salad which was massive and very tasty.Being out of season service was prompt although I had to call the waitress over when we wanted coffee. Only problem was the damp seats as, with a dog, we sat outside!See my other reviews on model village and the church

We stopped here on our way back to our car after spotting that they did vegan scones. For someone who recently found out they can't eat dairy this was amazing as I am badly missing the sweet stuff. It was fresh, warm and definitely homemade and I could not tell a difference from a normal scone. Also a lovely outdoor area to enjoy. Will definitely be back to enjoy again.

This is a great 'out of the way' place to stop and have a quick bite to eat or drink, the cafe is set in the grounds of the abbey and there is seating inside and out. A lovely location on any day. There is a small menu of food available. Plus homemade cakes and hot drinks

We enjoyed a visit to the botanical gardens & decided to stop in to their cafe /restaurant for a bite to eat I must say that the views were stunning looking out onto the gardens , we were lucky enough to get a table on the veranda where a local choir were singing & it made our day The food menu is quite limited but there were a nice selection of cakes available & lots of unusual teas too The food we did order was delicious .. but they were small portions for the price ( I must admit it was one our most expensive eats while on the isle of wight!) All in all a great setting to enjoy a cup of tea & drink but maybe wouldn’t go back for food

Fantastic! Welcomed in with a friendly smile, the ladies were lovely at all times. Hot drinks all tasty, served with a cute little biscuit on the side. I had the steak burger, which came in a toasty hot bun, with proper grated cheese on top & between the two burgers that melted beautifully. This was served with chips & salad. It all tasted so good. Highly recommend, we'll be back soon :-)
