Old Town Bakehouse in High Peak

The Bakehouse opened in June 2021 but by July 2022 it had closed. It was originally the garage to Kings Arms. Great idea but IMHO there is very limited demand for £3'50 Sourdough bread in Chapel. People buy Supermarket bread. the Pub also opened in July 2022 but by January was closed. It was at one time interested to buy but the upper part needed a fortune spent on it.

Closed again, without any noticed. Disappointed customer.

Driven by here so many times but never been - what a mistake. Friendly staff, shaded seating right out front and amazing food. Try the halloumi sandwich - incredible!

So bad! Took ages even for collection, chicken strips and kids chicken meal were vile all slimey. Forgot donuts, burger was a mess couldn’t even hold it together. Dough balls were all cheese. Only positives were the milkshake and pizza dipping sauce. Chips were like they’ve been sat out for days, not worth £40. Money wasted & cereal for tea 👍🏻

Great meeting place, serving giant size sandwiches, well worth a visit.

Had breakfast and took away a roast beef sandwich and reuben sandwich for lunch, as we were hiking kinder scout that day. All of the food was great, but the sandwiches were particularly fantastic even though we ate them 4 hours after they were made.

My sister took us here for a sandwich and we were blown away by the quality and great coffee all served under canvas.

Amazing sandwiches, breakfasts and snacks made with homemade bread. The sourdough is good. Very genorous portions.

Yummy sourdough. Even picked some up on a Sunday!! Arrived just in time for opening and the yummiest smell wafting down the street. Heavenly x

The sandwich was so huge, half of it became my dinner. The sourdough loaf was excellent too.

This place has the best toasties I’ve ever had. On homemade bread with great choice of fillings and a really tasty side salad, all for just £5! Also the coffees were incredible, couldn’t recommend this place more. Such a great vibe with lovely staff

A super bakery with an amazing range of goodies to choose from. Great coffee and pleasant and helpful staff. Choice of artisan breads is terrific. Wish we lived close enough to visit every week!

This is a great place, the staff are very friendly and the sourdough bread is amazing. It's a fav place for coffee, sandwiches and meeting friends for a catch up.

This little bakery is a fabulous newcomer to the town. The coffee is amazing. Try the bread, my favourites are the ciabatta & brioche. Raspberry & white choc blonde is delicious… or you can always have the perfect bacon roll!

There's not one bad thing to say about this bakery! The food, drinks and the staff are all amazing, and you won't find better bread anywhere!

Absolutely delicious sandwiches and bread. I had the tuna mayo which came on thick sliced bread and my boyfriend had the halloumi which came on a baguette. Huge portions for a good price (all sandwiches are £5). We also bought a large loaf of sourdough, a ciabatta and a chocolate muffin to take away and they have all been delicious too. Especially the sourdough! Unfortunately, we live in London otherwise we'd be here for lunch every Saturday. Lovely staff too :)

This place is really good, the pizza is amazing the bread is amazing and the staff were friendly and amazing.

Had 2 sandwiches at lunch today, one Pastrami and cheese, which was very nice, especially the bread. Also we had a falafel and mushroom one, which was disappointing. The falafel was burnt and the sandwich was very dry as there was no butter on it. Shame really as the bread was very good.

Just what Chapel needed! Lovely bread, coffee and sandwiches. Well worth a visit.

Just had the beef sandwich and a cup of tea from the old town bake house. Quality large sandwich and a nice brew. Perfect!

I thought this place looked interesting even when it was shut. I made a point of revisiting and I was not disappointed. The bread, sandwich and coffee were all outstanding The staff were friendly. What a wonderful addition to the town.
