Kouros Cafe in High Peak

Just called into this little place for a bite to eat only to find out they are closing for good at the weekend . What a shame ..ordered the spanicopita ..wow just like your yaya would make and the tzatziki was loverly also.. good luck for the future

Came in for a quick lunch! Nice cosy cafe..nice food, tea and friendly staff. Be sure to visit when you’re in the peak district.

We have had breakfast and lunch here before but this time had a takeaway for a family gathering. We ordered it the day before as there were quite a few items. It was all freshly prepared and piping hot when we arrived to collect. We had keftedes meatballs, kleftiko slow cooked lamb, spanakopitia feta and spinach pasties, dolmades stuffed vine leaves and houmous - two portions of some and one of others. All was excellent, especially the keftedes and kleftiko, which was extremely tender. Very generous portions, too. Much enjoyed by the three generations of our family.

Fantastic as always,the food is very good and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We got a take out and it was brilliant, giant butter beans... really good.

A wonderful lunch here. Home made lamb stew and homemade potato wedges - really tasty, delicious:-) Great friendly service - really helpful - pity I don't live nearer! Thoroughly recommend :-) (Free, unlimited parking just over the road)

The portion sizes are incredible! Initially I thought it was quite expensive but a main would definetly fill you up!

Waste of money. On arriving the place was empty and we should have left at that point. Wasn't asked if we had any allergies. 3 different meals and no one enjoyed it at all. Calamari would have made a good tyre... One meal was wrong meat and had sauce we had asked to be left off. Too polite to complain but we should have Worst meal I have had for ages. Serving staff seemed friendly.

I went to the morrisons café it was closed no hot water. I quickly looked at Google and due to great reviews I went to Kouros Café. It was excellent, the coffee was good. I had Lamb Kofta Kebab with salad. My colleague had Pork Gyros with Pitta, Salad and Chips. Absolutely delicious. Quite good value too. But the icing on the cake was the excellent service. I will be returning at the earliest opportunity. Thank you.

I ate breakfast here with my wife and baby son, and we also had their takeaway main meals. The food was delicious, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Kleftiko!

It's a small cafe with a large menu of both Greek and English choices. Breakfast served til noon. Lunch was amazing. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend and definitely go again.

Lovely food. Next time would like to sit upstairs as downstairs you are right next to the open kitchen and when left could smell the cooking on my clothes.

Service was very slow, waited an hour fir the starters. Food was well presented but the Mousaka was very bland and no meat. Overall we thought the prices were very high for what is a cafe type room rather than a restaurant. The cost of zero alcohol beer was £6 for a small bottle.

Lovely meal In a lovely setting. Food was great and service was good. Waitress Marissa was polite and Professional.. will return!

Pretty good little place. The food was _piping_ (read "molten") hot and, when it had cooled down a little, delicious. There was a slight issue - my Southern accent clearly confounding the waitress, especially when trying to order a bottle of Retsina. It's very small, so booking is pretty much essential.

Not my cup of tea, but the Mrs loves it, then again I'm food intolerant to pretty much everything

The staff at this cafe are incredibly polite and more than willing to cater to the customers' preferences. For instance, I requested a perfectly cooked bacon butty with the fat cut off, and they delivered flawlessly. Moreover, the cafe exudes a pleasant ambiance with its neat and well-organized interior, accompanied by a charming outside seating area. And let's not forget the real highlight - the food is absolutely delightful, making every visit a delightful culinary experience.

We booked for midweek lunch. Pleasantly busy, with some takeaway meals being prepared. Large and varied menu of both British and Greek classics. Staff were helpful and flexible with our requests. Food delivered in timely fashion and attractively presented. Everything was tasty, and hot - as appropriate. We finished with good coffees and a slice of baklava. Good- sized portions and great value. We'll book a return trip.

Food is always amazing as are the staff who are very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend for a nice lunch or meal out! They also sell metaxa brandy and mythos beer! Bonus!!

Just the best Greek food, i had kleftiko, spanakopita, garlic and cheese pita bread the other evening, it was amazing, washed it down with a Mythos, cant beat it!!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, gorgeous food. The staff are always friendly and helpful and very patient. You can tell that they have a really good relationship with the local community and I've seen them helping elderly locals in the past - they all have a very caring nature. My only complaint (and this is only down to personal preference) is that I wish they would give you more tzaziki with the kouros chicken pitta (And to be fair, I'm sure they would do if I was brave enough to ask) Would highly recommend.

Friendly staff. Nice food but the weather been cooler and the place has been colder. One day there was no heating and no hot water to wash my hands. The main door was open alot with deliveries and people coming in and out. Our food and drinks soon went cold. We were frozen and its put us off visiting. There were quite a few people on the next table complaining about being cold too. Sorry to have to complain because we have been frequently and really enjoyed it. We'll bring our duvets next time!

Just stunning food. Starters and mains with a coup de grace of baklava like you won’t find elsewhere. Kleftiko delicious, but truly stunning is the stifado.

Had an amazing lunch today with my Cypriot partner and we have both fallen in love with this place! What a homely feel! Had a lovely chat with who I can only assume was the owner and she was an absolute Gem. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for some sensational traditional home cooked greek food 💗🇬🇷

We went for breakfast, an were served a lovely, well cooked Full English. We had a good chat with the staff, who were kind and very helpful. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Last week I've visited a Greek deli on Chapel-en-le-Frith called KOUROS. They serve all day full English breakfast, plus obviously Greek dishes after lunchtime. The menu is enriched from a quick barm to full English. I regards to full English there plenty of choices depending on the time you have on your hands. There is a choice of both meatlovers, and vegetarians. If I remember well there are 2 choices of dishes. That of a large and small size. In the picture is the small size breakfast (no beens, as I hate Heinz beens) There is a choice of fresh orange juice (well recommended) Plate was served hot (as it should be). Breakfast was nicely presented too. Bacon 🥓, sausage, and egg 🥚 was brilliantly cooked 🍳, non of it was overcooked. It's well worth if visiting the area to stop by Kouros, and give it a try.

Fantastic little Greek cafe. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. The pricing initially looked to be high, but the portion sizes are very generous on the mouthwatering food. The food was delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone happily and will most definitely be returning in the near future.

Really nice place to eat. Service was spot on, even though they were very busy at lunch time. Authentic Greek aromas coming from the kitchen whole you wait and one of the best cappuccinos I've had. The food was delicious too.

I had the "mega" breakfast. I mean how big can a breakfast be?... Turns out pretty darn huge. It didn't get served on a plate, but on a ceramic tray. Now I'm originally from Wales, and us welsh girls can eat, but I must confess my stomach said prayers to every Greek deity known to man. Sadly today I was beaten, and without wanting to sound unclassy, I'm afraid the top button of my skinny jeans (rookie mistake), had to be undone for the "walk" (part crawl, part roll) home. All jokes aside, it was a lovely, piping hot breakfast. Good value for money, friendly staff, and the Greek coffee was lovely too. Next time, I'll call in for lunch and try one of the Greek dishes. A little local gem that I wished I'd tried earlier.

Both my partner and I had a amazing breakfast this morning from this cafe ,, the food was extremely hot and cooked to perfection , staff very friendly and helpful,. Its the first time we have eaten here but I'm sure it will not be the last .

Nice quaint place. Had the pork gyros small but it was anything nut small. Nice flavour with the taziki dip. Lovely pork and decent amount of home made chips. Would definitely come again. Highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this gem on a cold, wet, wintry day last week. Made to feel very welcome despite our soggy dog and appearance! Good selection of tasty food - including authentic Greek dishes - and very reasonable. Will definitely return if in the area!

I discovered them whilst visiting family. Excellent vegan pitta, lovely kalamata olives and sun-dried tomatoes! Made freshly and were able to accommodate my food intolerances. A pleasant surprise to find a Greek café in the Peak District!

Absalute disgrace, manageress was appalling with how she spoke to my father & I. All that place is fit for is cold coffee, which my father received. I am taking the matter further. I have worked in hospitality a lot bigger than the little cafe it is. She needs a nice attitude to customers not aggressive.

Found this little gem while visiting family in the Peak District. Ordered my favourite Greek meal - Beef Stifado. Initially was told they may not have any. Luckily there were two so we snapped them up. Found a coiple of chunks of beef with a lot of fat, so for this reason it gets 4 star instead of the 5 it should've got. The rest of the meal was lovely.

A little Diamond in Chapel en le Frith. If you do nothing else you must visit this stunning Greek Cafe. The food and service is really something else. My husband had never had Greek food before and we are off on holiday to Greece in a few months and I wanted to introduce him to the wonderful world of Greek food - he absolutely loved it.

Went to this nice cafe today & enjoyed a lovely lunch & excellent coffee. Nice Greek menu & a great idea that you can order small or large portions on the menu. It's open until 10pm Thursday/Friday/ Saturday & is licensed too. Will definitely return.

Yummy 🤤 That’s one word which describes it all. I don’t remember the name of dishes but both turned out very tasty and I will definitely recommend it to all food lovers. Out of 2, I will go for the curry dish. It was full of flavors and we loved it. The staff were very courteous and helpful while deciding. Highly recommended.

We popped out for an impromptu lunch, and ended up in Kouros - as ever, we were not disappointed! I had a panini with salad & tzatziki, my husband had the chicken gyros with chips & salad. The most authentic Greek experience, food and atmosphere. The outside area is beautiful with Greek music playing in the background, we could have been in Crete! The homemade Tzatziki is absolutely delicious, the gyros is super authentic and the chips are always perfect, not greasy at all. Everything from the drinks, food and atmosphere to the service, was exceptional. Well done Karen & Spiros!

Wow …. Come to the Peak District for a break and on our first day walk to Everest base camp ….. seriously !!!! So hungry we saw this place last night and thought we should try ….. As we sat down we thought oh no it does everything….. immediately thought if they do everything they probably don’t do one thing very well….. OMG …… we were so wrong and let me tell you if you know me well he would know that I’m never wrong …. This place is amazing we had a mega pitter followed by a huge piece of baklava and Greek coffee which was all absolutely amazing having spent a lot of time travelling and a lot of time in Greece I have to say that the food Is brilliant and the lovely girls that work here are all so lovely…. I’m talking in the present because I’m doing this review as we are eating I am that impressed if you are in this area or nearby you must come because supporting great businesses like this that truly want to make a difference is worth every penny they deserve it. Thank you guys xx

Called at random. Immensely friendly, tasty authentic food

We are so happy to have stumbled across Kouros on our wedding day! Great authentic Greek food and wonderful staff. Me and my husband were on the way to a hotel after our wedding and were starving, saw the 'Greek Street Food' sign and pulled in to grab something quick to eat. The staff were very welcoming, and when we mentioned we'd just got married gave us some delicious meze on the house including dolmades (vine leaves) and butter beans plus baklava and orange cake for pudding. We also had the spanakopita and tyropitakia, spinach pies and feta pies, which were fantastic. I used to live in Athens and have really struggled to find good Greek food in Manchester where we live, so we are going be regulars at Kouros from now on. Ευχαριστώ πολύ to the Kourous team for making our special day even more special with your great food and hospitality. Really good. Had plenty of takeaways from here and ate in for the first time - always enjoyable. We had 2 kids, a veggie adult and a carnivore and all were thoroughly pleased.
