Fabulous book shop with a wide range of discounted books and a great cafe (homemade homity pie with salad was really tasty today). Both the bookshop and cafe are dog-friendly. Large on-site car park.

Served nice food when I've visited but why o why do you let people spend all day on a laptop drinking one cup of coffee. I've waited a while to be seated while watching people do their work on laptops. Time to go laptop free and free the place up for someone thats going to spend money on food and drink not just one coffee. You serve nice food in a lovely cafe, not a work office.

My lady bought a cake for me & left it on the counter, so she rang the business & asked if they could do anything because we live 40 miles away, & it’s not worth an 80 mile round trip to get a cake. No offers or gestures were made by the assistant, or in other words….tough! I am dissatisfied at this & wont go in next time I am passing. I have a business & I go the extra mile (not 80) to settle a customer problem, it’s good business. In reply to the owners raspy remark of posting a slice of cake…no I don’t. I think the best response is….Dont worry we will provide a free cake when you come next. I am sure a member of staff will enjoy the cake left at counter.

This is such a lovely place for lunch. The food is delicious, tasty and fresh, and the atmosphere and staff are lovely. Even better is their kids menu- great options even for fussy eaters without the need to buy a huge meal for them (my little ones love the toast with marmite). They also have kids magazines and high chairs. Highly recommend the soup with fresh bread. The salad with the baked potatoes is also really delicious! All very reasonably priced too. One of our favourite stops in the peaks.

Absolutely love this magical book shop and I happened upon it the first time, quite by accident. I've been wanting to visit again for ages and was delighted to get back there last weekend. It's an absolute must-visit for book lovers and the cafe is fab too, though I didn't get to sample its delights this time as the queues were enormous thanks to it being a rainy Sunday. I'll definitely be back, my only wish is that they had a bigger spiritual/occult section!

What a lovely suprise. Was on route to an event and after a Google search this cafe was near by for a refreshment stop and what a quirky gem. 😁 I love places out the box and this definately was . A bookstore & cafe with lots of handmade gifts, cards, every type of book available, jigsaws, models etc and even loo's with a view with some fab finishing touches - how fantastic! 👍This is obviously a converted garage/station with the memrobilia situated on the walls in the cafe. I couldn't believe how busy this little place was. Have already recommended to my Biker friends & family who travel out this way to call in by to see it for themselves , however the only downside is the newly laid gravel carpark especially for motorcycles. Oct 24, still he same lovely quirky cafe with a friendly pleasant service as it was on my last visit and still busy with sometimes having to wait for a table to become available in the cafe. Have visited the bookstore twice this month arriving on motorcycles to which none of us encountered any problems with parking as the gravel has now become hard and compact 👍 😁

A lovely cafe and an interesting bookshop. We had delicious scones and coffee, our only very slight issue being the wait for a table. This was a Saturday morning and the cafe was very busy - it’s clearly popular! A party of hungry cyclists ahead of us in the queue gave up and left - but of course the cafe can only accommodate so many people, and the staff were doing their very best to get people seated. Once we’d ordered, our food came quickly and service was friendly and efficient. Scones are served with fresh butter and jam - no foil wraps and plastic packets here. We’d certainly go again, but we might try to avoid the weekends.

As for the cafe the last two times I’ve been given my snack to take to a table but then waited 10 mins for my coffee to arrive…in fact today I had to remind someone…they had overlooked /forgotten. I feel they’ve changed hands…totally different staff from previous visits and seems they’re not quite on the ball. Shame because it is a great place to visit.

Still the best flapjacks ever on the planet. Love our weekly trips - 50 minutes each way - for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Lost a star though over the red barrier. Whilst I can see the point during busy periods, not sure it's required during quieter times in the mornings? Also, in my opinion, it's not very welcoming. A sign saying "wait here to be seated" would be better. Ps Sarah's a star xx

We queued for 20 minutes to order, and were then told that there'd be a further 30 minute wait for soup and sandwiches. So we just had drinks and cake.
