I say if you love books go to here. If you like locally food go to here. Only the parking spots are full of griddle that's bit dangerous 😳 to park our motorcycle. Just find some stone on front of the shop. If you like good home make food go for it.. Don't skipping this place.

My husband and I visit several times a year when we're camping in the Peaks and are never disappointed. The cafe is our first port of call, and any wait is worth it for the delicious food and drinks, a good selection of both. Then, into the book shop, and we never fail to find a book or 2 (usually quite a few) and always stock up on cards, such a good range, and gifts. After purchasing our books, etc; (between £50 - £90!) we make our way back to the cafe for coffee and cake. The staff are always very friendly and everywhere is so clean and tables cleared quite quickly even at the busiest times. Would recommend if it's busy in the cafe check if there are any tables vacant on the veranda, it's well sheltered even in the rain, we know as we've done it. A must is a visit to the loos the murals are to be seen to believed.

Very inspiring books, not the same as a chain store but thats a bonus. The vibe is lovely and over the years the shop has evolved, retaining the positives whilst developing its own unique personality…now hard to say is it a book shop with a decent cafe or a decent cafe that also sells books? My colleague from the dept of children’s perspective (Tom, 6) gives it a double thumbs up….he says amazing books and interesting stuff and five star food… I got a baby bel, raisins, grapes, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, crisps and tuna wraps!!!! (Child’s platter). I agree the food is delicious, well thought out, attention paid to detail, & good portions, I’d say value for money. Milkshakes rock.

Visited for a family lunch as we wanted to support them through the difficulties they've had with the roadworks. Unfortunately, I was left very unimpressed by one particular member of staff in the cafe. Our order included 3 tuna & cheese panini's and we asked for 2 of these with no nuts/seeds (they sprinkle on the salad) due to allergies and 1 of those 2 also needed to be gluten free. We were made to feel that we were an absolute pain in the bottom for having these allergies! Given that the vast majority of the menu is bread based and comes with nuts and seeds (they'd run out of jacket potatoes) we didn't actually have much of a choice but to be "awkward"! Perhaps if they don't like alterations to an order they should refrain from adding nuts and seeds 🤷 Staff in the shop were all lovely but I shan't be returning to the cafe sadly.

Large independent bookstore set on the edge of the glorious peak district countryside with its own small cafe that's cosy & quaint with good food, hot & cold drinks & homemade cakes. I love coming here, browsing & buying books then having lunch or a slice of cake & a coffee. It can get very busy so parking can be difficult (please don't come in your motorhome, it's too big for any of the spaces) & you may have to wait for a seat in the cafe.

There was three of us and a dog. It was a sunny day in the week at lunchtime, the cafe was full but we didn't wait long to be seated. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, there was a lady clearly in charge and I always think this makes for a better run show as tables were being cleared and there was efficiency bearing in mind how busy it was. The food came out quickly and was all tasty and home-cooked. The cheese scone was the best I've tasted in a cafe for a long time. There is plenty of parking, the only thing I couldn't see on the way out was a water bowl for dogs but I'm sure they would have got me one if I'd asked. I would highly recommend, (and of course the book shop is worth a visit, we ended up buying jigswaws!)

I don’t live in the Peak District but visit the area quite a few times throughout the year and every time I do, I make a point of stopping at the High Peak Bookstore and Café. It’s one of my favourite places to visit and I always look forward to calling in. As an avid reader, my main reason for visiting is the bookshop which is always well stocked. I’ve never left without at least one new book purchase in my bag! The selection of fiction, non-fiction, classics, children’s books and YA fiction is excellent, and the prices are comparable with other book stores of a similar nature. The shop is really well laid out and there’s plenty of space to move around, without bumping into other people or the bookshelves. They also stock a great selection of gifts and greetings cards, including ones made by local artists. As for the café, it’s another little gem! Yes, it does get incredibly busy but for me, that’s a sure fire sign it’s a popular choice for locals and tourists alike. We don’t pay a visit every time we go, but whenever we have, it’s always been a positive experience. The staff are lovely - friendly, welcoming and helpful - and the food is delicious. We’ve never had to wait very long for our food orders to come out, even at busier times, and the staff are always quick to help if you have any questions. If you’re in the area, High Peak Bookstore and Café is definitely worth a visit. If you only plan on visiting the bookstore, I’d recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to have a proper browse. However, if you plan on stopping at the café too, you’ll need closer to 3 hours, especially at busier times.

We've been coming here for years mostly to have a coffee & browse the bookshop. It has changed hands and now, instead of a warm welcome, you are bombarded with signs telling you to wait to be seated and one entrance is blocked off. This morning we were second in the queue and no one even acknowledged we were there despite there being empty tables. We appreciate that it gets busy at lunchtime and people queued then but other than that you were free to pick your table. It just spoils the ambience of the place. We still enjoyed our coffee but felt disappointed generally. We doubt we will make the journey there in future unless we're buying books. Very sad indeed.

What a lovely suprise. Was on route to an event and after a Google search this cafe was near by for a refreshment stop and what a quirky gem. 😁 I love places out the box and this definately was . A bookstore & cafe with lots of handmade gifts, cards, every type of book available, jigsaws, models etc and even loo's with a view with some fab finishing touches - how fantastic! 👍This is obviously a converted garage/station with the memrobilia situated on the walls in the cafe. I couldn't believe how busy this little place was. Have already recommended to my Biker friends & family who travel out this way to call in by to see it for themselves , however the only downside is the newly laid gravel carpark especially for motorcycles. Oct 24, still he same lovely quirky cafe with a friendly pleasant service as it was on my last visit and still busy with sometimes having to wait for a table to become available in the cafe. Have visited the bookstore twice this month arriving on motorcycles to which none of us encountered any problems with parking as the gravel has now become hard and compact 👍 😁

A bit hit and miss about service as they often stop serving after 3pm. Used to be reliable with their hours. Lovely atmosphere and drinks though. Shame about refusing service at unadvertised times.

Had a late lunch here today ,the pub wasn’t too busy when we arrived but had a lovely ambience. I had intended to have a roast dinner but couldn’t resist the Weeping Tiger. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely, I will be back soon for the larp.

Me and my family were planning on going the commercial on Monday after discovering Manor Park on our trip away with the dog however discovered they only served food later in the week so on our last day made it a mission to go and try It’s dog Friendly and welcoming filled with locals that made you feel at home and relaxed atmosphere , it has a pool table in the back and if you don’t have a dog a seperate dining area It’s very Community based and the food came Fast and was tasty I’m vegan and even had a seperate menu under Sarah’s kitchen , I had a snacky mix of Houmous pitta , Share chips with my parents and Side of rice , a kind of Mix and match but just what I wanted , plus the service was fab with friendly staff Glad we tried
