Stopped off here to get food. Very happy to report the pizza “pepperoni “ that I devoured was the best pizza I’ve had in years. Absolutely delicious and washed down with a couple of Sam Miguel’s. Comfortable warm surrounding and served by happy professional staff. Compliments to the chef. 👨‍🍳 🍕

On the positive side - good range of cask ales. On the negative side however, two issues. Firstly, there’s a big screen TV. In my opinion, if you want to watch telly stay at home (although to be fair it was showing a sporting event - and we all know we’ve got to like sporting events now, don’t we?). Secondly, and far more importantly in my eyes, they discriminate against people who want or need to pay by cash (ie they won’t take it), which is why I’ve given it the lowest possible rating. If you don’t care about leaving an audit trail for ‘big brother’ everywhere you go then maybe you’ll enjoy it. If you’re a bit more discerning however, you’ll probably realise it’s best avoided. There are some great alternatives a few minutes walk away that are still within easy reach of the railway station.

This place has been a favourite for lunch meetups with friends but lately the menu has shrunk to pizzas, garlic bread and croissants. Nothing else. The burger and chips pic is therefore misleading. I wasn't hungry enough for a pizza so ordered garlic bread to be told they'd run out of garlic butter so couldn't fill my order. I went home and had lunch there instead.

Great little pub but they just don't seem to know how to maintain good real ale. As soon as they get a good one on, everyone drinks it, it runs out and then no decent ale. So, the staff just look at you and say what will you have now?! I won't have anything; I'll go somewhere that knows how to take care of their ale.

We have visited her 3 times over the past few months and sadly, each time it seems to slip a further in to disrepair. This last visit was early evening and the outside was untidy and with tables of shouting people. Not a great start but we were planning on sitting inside. We went in and it instantly smelt stale, that old pub with sticky floors sort of smell, quite distinctive. We were in a rush so we ordered at the bar whilst others in the party found a table. There was only one table free so we took that. The tabletop was dirty and sticky and the seats were covered in stains. Not nice. We asked one of the barman to give the table a quick wipe who came over only wiping half the table with a bit of kitchen paper. We all sat down and then we noticed the fruit flies... everywhere. Another table freed up so we moved to that, same issue, sticky table and flies. Despite us wafting away flies (as were other people at their tables) the barman seemed pretty disinterested. We finished our drinks and left. Such a shame as this used to be a nice place. Very disappointing.

I've had drinks here before and its been fine. Yesterday we decided to eat as well and it was well below par. Id seen others eating nachos here before and they looked great so we went for some as a sharing starter at £11. They looked good with plenty of guacamole, salsa and sour cream but had hardly any cheese on them and were cold. They weren't worth £11 and we only ate half. Our mains were also brought out at the same time despite specifically requesting the opposite hence they were taken away and probably kept warm before being returned 15 mins later. I had a korean chicken burger and chips (£13). The burger was probably the worst id ever had. There was hardly any chicken in it and was more batter and was very greasy and I actually felt unwell afterwards. Trying to find a positive, the chips were good and the service friendly! My partner had a three bean chilli (£13.5) and hers was nice. When our plates were collected we weren't asked how our meal despite the fact id left half of mine, else id have told the waiter, however, we needed to be somewhere hence we didn't have time to hang around. Given the other reviews I'm assuming we just got unlucky and hence probably would try it again, however, not in a hurry. I had overheard one of the waiters complaining that they were short staffed and maybe this explained our experience.

Despite being very busy, the service was quick and we didn't wait long for food or drinks. The staff were brilliant - kept coming over to see if we wanted more food or drinks, and check we had everything we needed. Really helpful and so friendly. We had a few questions about the food and the cocktails - everything explained, nothing was too much trouble. Can't praise the staff enough, not only brilliant at what they do, but made us feel so welcome.

We stopped off at The Old Ticket Office on our mission to find a 0% draught beer in Cambridge. Whilst they didn’t have any, the lovely staff very kindly recommended another pub that would have some. We decided to stay and try one of the low alcohol beers that were on offer here and were very pleasantly surprised! The funky music complimented the rustic yet cosy decor. Spacious and trendy we enjoyed our visit here. Sadly, the disabled toilet was the only one available to be used for gents wishing to take a number 2! The disabled toilet was swamped with water, both on the floor and on the toilet seat. This is our only complaint. Would recommend this bar to anyone.

A trip into Cambridge with Mrs B saw us in search of sustenance after fighting the hordes of shoppers, as we were heading home by train, somewhere near the station seemed to make sense, alas had we known what the fayre at the Old Ticket Office was like, a sandwich from M & S would have been better. We arrived just after the post office workers lunch break so it was not very busy, in fact after ordering there was nobody at the bar ordering apart from myself. Anyway, a peruse of the menu saw us both go for the lighter sandwich option – see we should have gone to M & S! 2 BLT’s and some chicken wings please. Earlier I alluded to how quiet it was, so one might have thought 2 sandwiches and some wings would be not the most taxing item to prepare, but no. It seems to get the bread that hard for the BLT – requires time, only having table knives to attempt to cut this in half was a challenge, steak knives would have served better, I think. Bread so hard that a warning to those with dentures should have been provided. But what about the chicken wings I hear you cry, “surely, they must have been okay?”, they may have been but it was impossible to taste. Now I went for the spicy option using brand of spicy sauce from a manufacturer I use myself at home, in order to marinade wings for a BBQ. Applying just enough to give the necessary kick, these were soaked in sauce, not so much a kick as a full-on beating. I would have been better just drinking the sauce direct from the bucket, I say bucket as the volume on my plate suggested they have gallons of the stuff to throw around. All in all enough to guarantee I shan’t be back there for any food, the staff were friendly enough and the pub itself is nicely done and a rather pleasing place to be in, however the poor food really let this down in my eyes and as Lord Sugar would say “You’re Fired!”.

We were quickly moved to another small table and moved again to a larger table when it became available. The food took exactly an hour to come and frankly while it was ok it was nothing special with the exception of the Conductors lunch which was huge, tasty and reasonably priced for what it was. Came here with some friends for a couple of beers and a bite to eat, whilst they had a fair selection of beer on offer and a cracking cider - which is something I will definately be going back for again - the food was very poor! We had a sharing platter which was ok - they had run out of some of the key components such as sausage rolls so these were replaced with alternatives - the cheese roll was tasty but the scotch egg was dry and had no real flavour to it. We then each ordered burgers, I had the chicken burger (as did 3 of my freinds) and although they came out looking good, all 3 were completely overcooked and all we could taste was burnt food, I had to leave half of mine. Another of my friends had the beef burger and again it came out burnt. Unfortuantely there was no check back and we were not asked how our food was when the plates were cleared so no oportunity for us to advise on the poor quality of the food served. Note this is no reflection on the staff as they were all really welcoming and friendly just perhaps could do with implementing a check back system or something to give people the opportunity to voice any issues they may have? Its a real shame as the place itself was lovely and quirky and definately somewhere I would recommend for a drink but I think for food you would be better off spending your money either trying one of the other restaurants nearby or even the Sainsbury's across the road for a sandwich! 3 stars given purely for the drinks, atmosphere, staff and quirkiness of the place, if I could rate the food on it's own merits I would be loathed to give it a 1...

I've never sent anything back before in my life but here I had no choice. My eggs florentine was cold, the poached eggs were essentially hard boiled and the hollandaise was split. The waitress asked if I wanted another made or something else and was sincerely apologetic but I really didn't want to risk it. Everyone elses poached eggs were rock hard too and if you can't tell when hollandaise has split you shouldn't be a chef. I wouldn't have minded so much (or bothered with this review) if the first waitress had left it there but another woman (who was happy to serve people pints at 11.30 but not a burger as one of our party wanted) came back over and caused a bit of a scene trying to convince me to order again which just made everything awkward. Really quite a nice selection of beers here, all explained on the chalkboard overhead. The benches and other seats can move around well to let you arrange whatever size group of friends you want. The staff are mostly disengaged, but they do their jobs, and some of them are even quite friendly.

Again I will give this place a 5* ... please don't let others "mishaps" reviews taint your opinion... this is now my 5TH visit ..! Other visit were for pleasure, this last one for business colleges ( so this visit was the most important!!) ... and again I was not disappointed? But more confused by other negative reviews that have been left recently that I have read ?!?? We were all welcomed by again the bubbly Janine (who's service is always next to none!) and then came along Jamie !! We were all blown away with his knowledge of his beers on tap...(such a rare sight for a young man to be so passionate but so refreshing)!! Food was amazing.!! (believe the bar snacks are only A tease on the full delights of their main dishes!!) I intend to work my way throu that menu!! The chef is next to none ! (Who I believe tonight for us was "Matty" ) ...this team have got this and work together effortlessly??? ..so confused on the "negative" staff reviews..maybe I miss the bad ones? Nether the less we all will be back!! Thanks again ! Nick

The staff here are just rude - waited 10 minutes to be served in an empty bar while three of them just chatted to eachother in plain sight. Eventually one wandered over said 'what do you want' and then wordlessly and expressionlessly poured the drinks, plopped them on the bar and returned to chatting to the other staff.

This is located to the left of the Station hall (right if you are conning out of the Station). Good size bar and the character of the OTO, has been in the most part kept, with old timetables etc. Very well laid out, toilets up a tight spiral staircase or one on the ground floor if you have mobility issues. A good selection of craft beers are available, best to ask if you are on a tight budget as they rise up to over £6.50 a pint. We had lunch, Coronation Chicken in a roll, which was filling, tasty and reasonably priced. My wife had the Pulled Pork sandwich option which also hit the spot. We shared chips, again tasty well cooked and hot. The service was good (mid afternoon Friday) and the all round experience was a cut above the other Bar options nearby. If you are going to yet one of the many Craft beer options just check the price before ordering.

Look ok from the outside. Get to the bar, staff standing there nibbling their finger nails, VERY odd. No, good afternoon, or welcome to the old ticket office, just a grunt. Looked like they would rather be elsewhere. AVOID.

My wife and I were looking for a quick breakfast and decided to try Old Ticket Office. As the name suggests it is located right next to the main line station and is surrounded by more restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

The staff where rude and looked like they did not want to be their and inside it was really small and the green interior made me feel trapped in a small box. I often come to Cambridge at least once a month for work and after trying the old ticket office I defiantly would not recommend it and I will be going back to my normal spot at the Station Tavern where the service and most of the staff are amazing. I don't often wright reviews but if I get the time I do like to give feedback. Unfortunately I will be giving the Old Ticket office a 1 star I really hope you can look at this not as a bad review but an eye opening so that you can progress as a pub.

I shared a lunch here with some colleagues and had to admit I was sceptical before we went in as I'd had a couple of over priced drinks here once before.

Took my son here for pre cinema Birthday meal..after reading the reviews we were not disappointed..!! For a Friday night the place was busy but with the most amazing atmosphere the staff all being upbeat and not phased/stressed clearly enjoying their work (a beautiful building also! ) Janine our waitress for the evening made us feel welcome and made sure everything was kept to timing for our viewing at the cinema (and also I might add she had a few "parties in at the same time as us) aswell making sure the the rest of the floor was clean, tidy and "empty glasses" free first impressions were looking good ...then the food was next to none .!! From the "califower wings" to the mouth watering steak... followed by yummy cookies and ice cream and a twist on Tom cocktail this whole experience was a fine dining one at the least but in the most relaxed but lively atmosphere!! Well done Ben (I believe I heard who was the manager ) and the rest of this lovely team!! Keep doing what you do!! (Especially Janine! )

Came here with a group of 8 and they managed to seat us fairly easily, though worth noting it is not a big place. Staff were friendly. The food was good and well priced. They also have a wide range of beers and ciders which is decent.

We visited for dinner and drinks with friends. The food was great and reasonably priced. Drinks were a little on the expensive side, but we liked that they had a good range of nonalcoholic drinks, including alcohol-free beer on tap. Nice refurbishment of the building.

On the recommendation of our freight train driving friend, we met up at this pub to spend an enjoyable evening at the Old Ticket Office. In reality the building used to house admin offices, as my learned train enthusiast informed me! The bar was busy all night, but we had reserved a table in a quieter spot. Much appreciated was the table service we received from Alice, where nothing was too much trouble. She even brought drink orders to the table, so that we could avoid the long queues.

I'm not the one for writing reviews usually but this place truly deserves one..! After my train being delayed and the lovely warm weather I spotted this place through a platform window and the tempting selection (which is vast..!) of ales from local and afar.. Jeanine (hope I spelt it right!!) was very patient and very helpful on selecting my New love of an ale called "Fat Sprat" (I believe). After my first pint and my train still delayed the need for a snack was in order to accompany my cheeky second pint..Jeanine in full swing then tempted me to a homemade sausage roll..OMG what a delight complete with "cracking sprinkles" on top and pickle on the side..died and gone to heaven..!

Ignore the other bad reviews on here. The OTO is fab. AND it's a cool place to take a break from the (rare) English heat.

Really fun spot to hang out while waiting for a delayed train. Coffee was ok, but service was really friendly and almond croissant was one of the best I’ve ever had. And I don’t say that lightly.
