Typical National Trust Cafe with seating inside and out, the usual fare and nearby toilets and car park. Suggest NT ensure all staff behind the counter are dressed properly.

This tea room is located near the entrance to the Lacock Abbey and just across from the back of the Red Lion Hotel. It has tables & chairs inside where the counter is and a large outdoor area with slightly uncomfortable wooden park bench settings. It was pretty busy on the Tuesday afternoon that we visited and that might explain why the service was so slow, but I think it’s more about the layout & set-up, to be honest. And frankly I’d hate to see how it would be in a really busy summer weekend. I had a little of my coffee but left most, it was one of the worst coffees I’ve had for a while.

Oh NT, sort this place out. The flapjack was so hard I couldn't cut it. My friend's date slice tasted like it had fallen into washing up liquid and even the tea bag tasted bad. How is that possible? A member of staff dropped a tray breaking some china, picked the pieces up with their fingers leaving chips of china on the floor then emptied the dishwasher without washing their hands. Staff looked on, did nothing and were more interested to chat amongst themselves than to serve customers. The NT has such a high standing and reputation for good reason, why do you allow this?

This is the worst National Trust Cafe I have been to in 40 years. Over £13 for 2 coffees, a sausage roll and a scone and jam. The coffees were not very nice and came with chocolate sprinkles which we were not asked if we wanted - everywhere else asks if you want chocolate sprinkles. Also not a proper cappuccino - just hot milk not frothed. The scone was absolutely rock hard and stale for which there is no excuse - the cafe was busy and had a high turn over of scones. The toilets were grubby. This cafe gives the Trust a bad name.

We went for a dog walk and got to the cafe at half past one. They had sold out of nearly everything on the menu. So we had the last two sausage rolls available (bought in not made by NT kitchen) and swede soup. It just wasn’t the sort of lunch that you’d choose to buy…very basic and not very nice. We also bought a scone but when we cut it in half there was an odd layer of something white inside. I thought it was possibly the result of being frozen for a long while. It certainly was not fresh and we took it back without taking a bite. £25 for the above lunch (plus 2 water and an elderflower drink) represents a waste of money!

Looking run down from the outside, weeds amongst the gravel and in the troughs, the inside was little better. Poor selection of food, just a few sandwiches and baked potatoes, so chose cakes. Both our choices were disappointingly dry. Also the toilets were grubby. Car parking in Leacock Village is expensive £4.50 for the day is the only option. Difficult to pay, you need coins or to download the app if you aren't a NT member.

It is not a large cafe and you order and pay at the till. We stopped for an early lunch here today, arriving just after mid-day, to avoid the peak lunchtime rush. We have eaten here before, but the choices today were just weird! Odd sandwich fillings & salad choices. Faced with this, we opted for a simple jacket potato & cheese, which arrived promptly served with a salad garnish & coleslaw & was very nice. We also had 2 coffees. The bill came to just over £15, which I think was expensive for what we had. This place used to be so much better; it’s trying to go up-market & be something it’s not. Lacock Abbey is owned by the National Trust, but is unusual, in that it is offers different attractions spread over the village and one only needs to enjoy one or two of them without rushing to see everything. The Old Stable Tearoom is one example, being sited at the edge of a car park at the start of the village proper. We chose there to take lunch as our main meal of the day and were pleased to see that extensive refurbishment and improvements have been carried out to make it very attractive, but still retains its old world charm. New furniture, very chic, and fresh decorated walls brightened the place throughout. Even the service counter and food displays are new and well done.

The venue is nice with seating inside and out. I am leaving this review as I know this place could be lovely if things were given some attention. Sadly the staff are unhelpful and appear bored. A smile was to much to ask for it would seem. The cake portion was very very small and undercooked and very overpriced at £3.25! This was replaced after we complained with a better size and texture of cake. The former should never have been put out for sale. The florentine slice was over sweet, and unlike any florentine I'd ever tasted before. It was covered with a thick slab of chocolate which had a white bloom on it( which normally happens to chocolate when it has been in the sun or got to hot). I love chocolate and was disappointed to find it was chocolate flavoured 'stuff' and not chocolate at all. I had a few bites and left it. Our coffees were disappointing too. I would not go back and I hate to think what the tourists must think when they visit - feel ashamed to be British. Other food outlets in Lacock are superb so the National Trust really need to take this hand and undertake some massive improvements here.

The cafe is in an excellent location almost in the heart of the village, and is supported by good car parking facilities. My cappuccino was disappointing particularly considering the cost £3:00, albeit this was the large option, I found the blend, bland and the texture lacked depth. Collectively ( 3 of us) found our sandwiches and cheese on toast to be at best ‘average’ as with the coffees the food lacked taste, the cheese for example had very little flavour, more mild than mature, the bread offered very little also. It was disappointing that the food in my opinion did not match the location.

I visited the café on a Saturday afternoon with my son who is autistic. The service was painfully slow and haphazard. The scone was slightly stale but by this time I could not face going back to complain. We sat outside but there were so many wasps we had to go inside the café. Inside it is a soulless café with no art on the walls, decoration or flowers to make it welcoming to visitors. There were still wasps inside. I appreciate that there are wasps at this time of year but why not invest in some traps for outside and fly/wasp killer technology for indoors. My son's pot of tea was fine but the whole visit was pretty dismal and we will not be returning. Come on National Trust get your act together.

Not a great start to the day on arriving at the National Trust Old Stable Cafe in Lacock mid morning. No breakfast options except a small range of cakes (the scone was distinctly average and clearly from a packet mix).Their main problem, however, is the staff and their distinct lack of understanding of what constitutes good customer service. The young and inexperienced staff were surly and unhelpful from the second we walked in.It seemed as if they could barely be bothered to serve us, and we were the only customers. I think this reflects very badly on the National Trust.I would advise to try any of the other cafes in Lacock and give this a wide berth, at least until they can train their staff, and get them someone experienced to watch over them!

The National Trust Stables tea room is located opposite the Manager Barn near to the Abbey and Museum entrance. Being quite small the tabled interior can get busy particularly in the holidays and summer, however there is also outdoor picnic bench seating, perfect for a fine weather day to sit and enjoy the sunshine. As a tea room the menu is just what you should expect, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, homemade cakes, ice creams plus light snacks and children’s lunches. Ideal for a cuppa before setting off or better still at the end of the day to rest your feet with a brew. This is a tea room or café not a restaurant, for which there is plenty of choice in the village for full lunches and dinners.

We regretfully decided to have lunch here, it was a lovely day soon to be spoiled by our dreadful lunch at tis place. The menu was small but my wife thought the baked jacket potato and salad sounded good, so we both settled on that and a couple of scones with cream plus two teas. Well in over 50 years of travelling and experiencing good and not so good food this experience is by far the worse. As expected with such a dish the potato was pre cooked...re heated in a microwave...But splatted on a plate (Resembled nothing like a potato ) covered in a cup of grated strong cheese (no attempt to grill or melt the cheese) and a tablespoon of really wet coleslaw dumped alongside. We decided to at least taste this awful looking food, and lo and behold it tasted even worse than it looked. At least we have the scones...really.....On trying to cut and butter these alien objects they fell apart into dozens of inedible pieces. So we spent a fair amount of money on two mediocre cups of tea. I advise travellers to this lovely part of the UK...don't even think of eating here. Its a pity I cant award this place its true rating of Minus Five.

Worth visiting just for the Christmas feel and to wonder and the festive decor. I was slightly dissapointed with my jacket potatoe with creamed chicken and mushroom. When it arrive it didn't look very nice at all and I was expecting it to be creamy looking but no sign of any cream at all. It did however taste ok, I won't be ordering it again. I got fiod envy as everyone elses food looked yummy (poor choice on my part me thinks!) The cakes looked lovely but I was suprised to find that they didn't have any mince pies and the only food item that was anywhere near christmassy was a strange gingerbread man. Some special festive coffees with cream etc would have been too. Well worth a visit - I will definitely be returning

Poor value fillings in both jacket potato and sandwich.Lack lustre green salad on the side. Staff seemed unhelpful when asked for a gluten free option. Not up to the usual standard of the National Trust cafes.

Enjoyed a nice coffee and delicious Victorian Sponge here after a wander through the amazing village of Lacock. A casual environment with lovely selection of morning tea treats.

Quaint setting. Helpful friendly staff. Plenty of outside seating and a fair amount inside. Does get very busy at times. Good variety of teas, coffees, cakes etc. Delicious scones!

Lovely friendly pub great staff the beers and wines were good quality. We all had a fantastic meal here. I had a lovely chicken and leek pie and I would certainly go back and have that again and I know the rest of the group felt the same with their food, the service was spot on looking forward to visiting again very soon highly recommended

Lovely outside setting for lunch in the sunshine looking out on the hotel grounds. Excellent service. However very expensive for what you get.
